Oh come on it's all business ... how many museums do we need.. how may people do you think would pay for that tour not enough to continue business in HoLyWood. It's cool to see this but life goes on, and guess what? It's not all make believe. The reality of Hollywood, business, celebrities and making money. We all should concentrate on our own neighborhoods. This just makes me think of how much time I spent in front of a t.v. being the youngest of 7 in Ohio. where was my mom? It's kind a gross how much I remember from make believe. My son was never raised in front of a television. Although he finds Mathew Perry's death "sad" imagine. These homes were fake structures. Perhaps if "they" offered them to homeless humans then it could be real.

I am particularly sad they tore down the corner where the "Bewitched" house was. That whole block is so iconic to me. Morning Glory Circle and the Partridge Family House as well as "Father Knows Best" & "Gidget". Whenever I see exterior shots from any one of those shows....I always spot the connecting outdoor set from a different show....so the whole thing had a sort of TV land feel. I don't know how many times I saw the "Bewitched" house in long shots from "The Partridge Family" & "I Dream of Jeannie" When I was a kid, I thought it was so cool that all those shows were in the same neighborhood. LOL. Oh well....nothing lasts forever, especially in show business. Thanks for the tour and the info. You did a good job.!!!

Excellent. You and several others have documented the churning demolition of the ranch. You focused on the Columbia years, which I appreciated. The lethal Weapon house belonged to the Baxters long before. The Monkees,
Dennis the Menance, Gidget, Jeannie and Samantha. Eating Trix cereal while watching. I gave the guard 10.00 in 96 to do a drive through circle of Blondie street. It meant that much to me as a 35 year old adult to see these homes.

I never figured out why they did not have it where people could see it. The only way apparently you could tour it is if you knew somebody that worked there at the time or something. I seized several people going with friends that work there. I just never knew anybody that worked there personally, I would have given my right arm to tour that lot when it was intact before any of the demolition started. It’s really a sad situation and a shame that this happened. I guess it was the decision of the new CEO. He obviously doesn’t give a damn about preservation or history. I mean this lot goes way back almost 90 years all the famous people that have passed through. There is amazing. And now it’s gone.

The roofs appear to have been used by the local fire departments as practice for their crews. When a local builder was getting rid of older homes, they would “donate” the house to the fire dept so they could practice breaching the roof, walls, etc. they might even burn it down for the contractor.

@@macwyll They are immortalized on film. Most people who are crying about this had zero chance of ever visiting them. Plus if they were so cherished why didn't someone step up and buy a couple of the facades?? They are all easily rebuilt if someone wants to play Bewitched/I dream of Jeannie or the Partridge Family. The truth is they were in a state of disrepair and had been made over so many times they really weren't all original anymore. Take the original Star Trek Enterprise for example. Two great fan recreations of the sets. Both can be visited by fans. Maybe someone will recreate a couple of the facades one day. Doubtful though because the fan base just isn't there for the shows..

Who would pay for that conversion? Who would own the land and be liable for injuries and upkeep? Who would pay to upgrade the structures, which are flimsy and unsafe? Who pays for compliance with the ever-growing list of government "regulations" at the city, county, state, and federal levels?

On the other side back then was the set of Fantasy Island and the white mansion with its tower. We used to explore all over the ranch and hide from the guards and never got caught. Thanks for this one. Very sad this has happened and to think it will just be office buildings and sound stages that will replace all this makes it worse.
Thank you again for pointing all the important buildings out.

I’m seriously bummed out about this.
So much pop culture history on this ranch and now it’s all gone forever.
Proving once again that the all mighty dollar is all that matters to Hollywood.

Chances are, increasing taxes and regulations contributed to this decision. Yes, a studio is a for-profit company. Would you, as a shareholder, not want your stock to climb in value?

So sad to see it go. In the 1970s, my parents used to take me to that ranch every year for some benefit event called "Actors for Animals," which featured a lot of actors from that era like Loretta Swit, MIchael Cole and Mariette Hartley. I have a bunch of photos from those events. For me, the highlight was being able to walk around and see all the houses and other sets. Great video as always! You channel is always must-see TV!

I used to work at Warner Bros. and the ranch on a number of shows.
The tear down was in the works for years- AT&T (when they owned WB) ordered the whole thing when they were still pushing the streaming show thing really hard. But then COVID, the sale to WB to Discovery, and the WGA/SAG strikes happened (not to mention the fact the streaming thing didn’t pan out the way they thought), which mothballed everything for a while until recently.
The saddest part is that WB ended up selling the ranch to a third party, choosing to lease stage use instead.
So you know there’s a chance something will happen and those stages will be trashed for high-dollar condos at some point…

Thank you for showing us this, especially the drone footage. Even though it's painful to see, at least you were able to document the last days of such priceless movie and TV history that we value. As for me, I am not at all a fan of the CGI/digital background or virtual sets and hope there will be directors, cast and producers who counter that trend with old school physical sets and locations...and keep using the backlots that still exist or make new ones going forward.

thank you for posting this video, I'm viewing from the UK, we got most of the shows here on TV, so sad to see a part of TV and movie history being bulldozed like that. Tv and film production has changed, as you mention streets can now be created using Cgi, ...it is a sad state of affairs, one day the trend will change and film makers will want to go back to using realistic physical sets, and I think studio executives are going to say...." gee, that's a shame we destroyed that backlot , what a mistake that was.."

Glad you made this video. So much of my childhood TV memories are on that sight. Columbia pictures owned the Ranch before Warmer and one of the funniest episodes of the 3 stooges was filmed there. The episodes where the stooges were in boot camp preparing to go to war when Curley was asked by the drill Sargent to perform a demonstration and ended up throwing his rifle at the drill Sargent. Hilarious.

I am not too sure and could be wrong but I think meemaw's house in last years season finale of young sheldon when the tornado destroyed Meemaw's home it was the partridge house in it's first stages of being torn down..
    another great video Kurt
and I was today's date old when I found out from you that there was a house called the Lindsay house (my last name) on Gidgit which my older sisters would remember but I was a little too young for that show...

I agree, I believe since the whole lot was to be demolished anyway, Young Sheldon's producers found they were clear to destroy the Partridge house for the tornado scene, hence why all you see is the back walls in this video. You can see the greenish back wall in the Young Sheldon episode amidst the debris (which also exposed the original gambrel framing )

You didn't mention the Heck House (Bel Air) from 9 seasons of the Middle. Also the blueish two story house next to the pool was the George Lopez tv sitcom house. I think the Bewitched house gets to my inner child the most.
I hope they replanted some of the trees to other places because if not that was a lot of beautiful landscaping lost. 😢
The drone footage is very professional here. Thx for sharing the sad news.
