- Brief video about THE BEWITCHED HOUSE, located on a fake movie street where hundreds of other sitcoms and movies were filmed, including The Partridge Family, I Dream of Jeannie, My Three Sons, Nation Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Project X, new sitcom The Middle, and many more.
The Bewitched House, aka "1164 Morning Glory Circle," has been blown up, rebuilt, modified, and otherwise tampered with so many times over the decades that it has lost its original charm. It is way past time for Warner Bros to restore this iconic symbol of television history back to its former original glory, just as it appeared in Bewitched from 1964 until 1972. Please like if you agree with my comment.
totally agreed!!!! IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A national treasure! restored to its original look
retrounderground1 That would be awesome!!!! I just loved Bewitched and Elizabeth Montgomery. She was just awesome!!! Anyway getting back to the point, yes they should restore and put in a museum like the Smithsonian! After all they do have mock ups of Julia Child's kitchen and Archie Bunker's living room with his chair. So, why not?

What is wrong with you you are one sick puppy!Nicanor Lucas
retrounderground1 Yes! rebuild it.
62 years young and still watching this show!! It cracks me up still and enjoy the "corny" plots and special effects!! And yes Ms. Montgomery was one beautiful lady and a beautiful person, too! Gone way before her time!!
Gone and destined for a lake of fire for promoting witchcraft and the occult, ie., satanism. God says, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live." Exodus 22:18. 🔥 targer.ca Scroll down to Halloween and the Occult.
Thanks for the memories. I wish we could all go back.great simpler times back then.😞
Bewitched was a warm family show I loved when I was little . I remember when I was 12 years old running home for lunch so I could watch Bewitched while I eat. Now they are all dead. Even my parents are dead. I still have the warm memories and wish I could go back and live it all over again.
@David Brown,I can relate totally to every word you've placed in your comment. I remember viewing this program at night & it was only once a week,it was the "mod" years, the early 60's when just about everything at least to me,seemed just a bit easier,y'know, lighter times,a feeling of warmth as you've stated,& see how whatever occurs in life we still hold dear those memories!
😢

I’m with you on that
I remember watching it at noon time, late 60's. Galloping Gourmet was on before or after.
I am nearly 51 years old and I grew up watching Bewitched even though it
started in 1964 and I was born in 1965 I still watched repeats in the
early 1970's. Elizabeth Montgomery was one of the most gorgeous and sexy
and talented women who ever lived. The house should be restored to exactly the way it looked in Bewitched.
Dave Wiseman I was born 1964 in April still enjoy classic hits show of Bewitched.
Dave Wiseman I was born in February of 1967 and I remember watching Bewitched when I was a kid, back before it got cancelled and on reruns during the years that followed. Great show!
I have one question, their address was 1164 morning glory circle, how did they get the mix up address episode with the lawn and grass being delivered to their house. In that episode it shows 194 and the 9 had turned around
Me too!! I have all the episodes of Bewitched on DVDs
Born in 66, still watch it !!! One of my all time favorite shows
Elizabeth Montgomery was amazingly beautiful.
Oh ffs. U people need help
yea super fox back in those days
Yeah, she sure was...
She was one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood ! Her,Barbara Eden, and Connie Hinnes were to die for !
Your right about that steve.
100% !
If you look at some of the earlier episodes you will notice that the Steven's house was right next door to the Baxter's House (Hazel) It also shows up in a few of Hazel episodes. It also appears that the Kravitz living room was also the same living room for Dennis the Menance.
In the 1963-64 intro to "Hazel," you can see the Stephens house just as Hazel, Missy, George, Sport and Smiley take off in the Baxter's bright red '64 Ford convertible! And, the year before, Harold is throwing confetti from the tree that's at the edge of the driveway as "Our Coach Hazel" is honored by her football team!
In the next to last season of Hazel, Harry Knowles and his new wife technically move in to the Bewitched house! Then in the final season it can be seen down the street when Hazel goes on a real estate call for George's brother! It's also down the street from The Partridge Family!
I loved this show growing up, and can still enjoy it!! Good memories, a much simpler time!!
David Smith i
*HGTV* should do a "Remodel" of the Bewitched house, turning the inside (which is just an empty frame) into the actual layout of the TV series set. It would make taking the tour of the back-lot where the actual home is located, so much fun. It would be great to see the empty shell of the house get turned into a real-life version of the TV show's home
I love Agnes Moorehead💕
She was a great actress and an award winning actress.
I like Moore head also.
This show was one of my favorite ones since I was a young girl. I still watch the repeats whenever possible. Also I liked "I dream of Jeanie.
Funny show. "Abner, hurry, come look". Of course everything looks normal by the time he looks out the window across the street."Gladys, take your medicine, lie down on the sofa and I'll call the doctor". Cracks me up every time.
Variation from "Santa Comes for a Visit and Stays and Stays:" "Gladys, let's play house. You be the door and I'll shut you!"
I watched Bewitched when new, from 1965 until it ended.I was a child and loved it, especially Dick York as Darren.
He was the real Darren Michelle. He created that role. No one could play it like him. Especially in the episode where he had on this gold colored ensemble with the bead and looked at himself in the shimmering dress Sam had on. Lol
This is great. I always knew I kept seeing that house ... is part of my childhood!
I remember watching this as a child. My mother was I love with the kitchen. Watching now, I realize why. That was a dream kitchen.
I love the Kitchen on bewitched too I like both versions of it the original and the expanded 1970 remodel
i loved the remodel, with all the brick and the staircase to the upstairs. i wonder exactly where upstairs the staircase led to, though. to a bedroom?
It was also Dr Bellow's house on I Dream of Jeannie.
Gerald Schiwal Wow. Really? Didn't know that. Thks
I *thought* so! I noticed that at some point, watching reruns.,. Thank you!
Did he pay rent to Darrin and Sam?
@@markcadieux3445 ha ha ha, good one! 😀
Also there we a lot of scene's Like Djinn water of tony chasing a car in the Early episodes where you see the entire Studio lot
This was one of my absolute favorite shows as a little girl!!! Another was 'I Dream of Jeannie'...still watch them from time to time on Antenna TV
Elizabeth Montgomery was so beautiful
I've always loved that house since my childhood. Thanks!
An additional awesome fact is that GM sponsored both "Bewitched & I Dream of Jeannie". Darrin drove first a '64 Chevy Malibu, then a '67 Camaro. Sam had the '68 Impala. Major Nelson had the '66 Pontiac GTO convertible..... Don't think we didn't notice back then!
On the Andy Griffith Show it was mostly Ford's.
Don't forget Larry Tate's 68 Corvette !
On the Beverly Hillbillies it was Chrysler.
Larry Tate drove a vette, sometimes.
I've loved Bewitched ever since I was a teenager. The good ol days!!! ❤
So cool how many shows had the same house and the house in different scenes! I love it and still watch a lot of the old shows!
I was born in 1962 and loved watching Bewitched. I was still watching reruns of reruns till they took the show off of TV. All the "good stuff" made in the 50's, 60's & 70's are long gone. Mostly, just a bunch of junk on TV now!!!
Antenna TV station has it. If your area carries it.
The work you went to compiling this video was nothing short of Epic. Thank you so much !.
Agnes Morehead was such a great actress that she could have done Bewitched in her sleep. Her acting talent was far far above it. But, in the 1960's T.V. was king. She had to go with flow.
I was told once that I looked like her.
Captain Nice
It would not have been as successful without her.
Yeah, and it's a trip to see her so young as Charles Foster Kane's mother in "Citizen Kane" (1941).
Captain Nice -- Yes, and Maurice Evans as well. A great, classically trained actor.
Uncle Arthur was a favorite.
Yes he was David. A great comedian. I remember he and Endora was always going at it, even though they were sister and brother on the series.
And to the left of it is The Baxter house from Hazel and down the street is Major Nelson's house.
Now, this is really fun, for a 56-year-old, who grew up, watching 'Bewitched.' Missed 'Home Improvement', though...sad.
damn... a lot of people have lived in that neighborhood
I loved Elizabeth Montgomery. I also like the address on Morning Glory Circle.
The house is a mirror image of an actual house: 267 18th Street, Santa Monica, CA. The real house was used in the movie "Gidget". The reason the facade is a mirror image is the garage was already in place (it served as the "Lethal Weapon" house garage) and reversing the house worked better with the garage. Ironically, when "Gidget" became a TV series, "Bewitched" was already in production so the "Lethal Weapon" house was used as Gidget's house instead. The "Lethal Weapon" house dates back to the 1930s and can be seen in old "Three Stooges" movies.
Another favorite movie of mine. Simple but good. I'm going to watch it more carefully now to see the house.
Re: garage on the Bewitched. I was watching an episode of "Father Knows Best" (1958) on METV and I notice the garage in the background on this particular location shot and there was no Bewitched House. Also on a episode of The Donna Reed show where Scotty teaches Mary to drive (1960) there is no driveway or garage at the Hazel/Gidget house.
Anyone know when the Bewitched and Hazel/Gidget home/garage were added.
I just looked on Google maps of that house in Santa Monica, how did you ever learn that !?
I remember a interview with Dick York before his death how he never heard a word from Elizabeth Montgomery after he left the show.
Wish build more home like bewitched home. So beautiful. Still watch have all DVDs if make it DVDs blueray box Quilty sound. Fun watch all ages. Better then junk stuff on tv now days.
I have them too and I agree
It was also used in a scene of the 1963's Bye Bye Birdie when Paul Lynde drives into it's driveway
Ooooooo yessss. IT was a great pleasure when at 2 pm sunday everybody was în their houses to see a new episoade Bewitched. I am from România and all my childhood was marked by American movies especially Bewitched. And I'm steel loocking at this serial and feel wonderful. Thank you for this posibility.
Well done...thanks for upload. .
It was doctor Bellows house. Sometimes on Be witch you can see Major Nelsons house
Interesting to know that the prop house's career endured.
I have one to add. I just saw an old episode of the sitcom, "Hazel" that featured this house.
Also, there is an episode of Hazel that features the house from, "I dream of Jeannie" where she tries to sell it as a real estate agent. The actor who played, "Howard Spraig" from Andy Griffith show was a potential house buyer in that episode.
Not only was the Bewitched house on Hazel and I Dream of Jeannie (as you mentioned), but it was also on: "The Flying Nun", "Gidget", "The Monkees", "The Partridge Family" and a couple of other shows that I don't recall at this moment.
Beautifulmusiclistnr Beats me how you can recognise who's house is where, I wouldn't have a clue.
George is stunned when Hazel manages to sell the house to Harvey Noll!
Please restore this beautiful home. It holds many good memories.
this is pretty well put together so interesting that this house is so popular
It figures in the fond memories of many people.
the house is even in the opening titles of the first series of I Dream of Jennie
Dennis the Menace from the 50's was also filmed on the ranch. The fountain in the park from the 'friends' tv series is seen in many old shows as well.
J Evenden The Bewitched house can be seen in Season 4 of Dennis the Menace (several episodes).
If you look at Christmas Vacation where Clark is in the attic looking at the B&W films of his childhood Christmas, you can clearly see the Bewitched house and people coming out of it....Good vid! Thanks!
Thanks for pointing that out....now I may have to dig out Christmas Vacation in the middle of the summer...lol. I don't care, great movie and soundtrack. #Squirrel
Yes, I always point that out to my family. I think it was maybe Clark's childhood home. I have spotted it in many shows.
Oh my Stars
The Bewitched house was always my favorite tv house! I love that you can still see it on The Middle today. The house to the left of the Bewitched house is the Hazel house. It was always my childhood dream to live on that street. Does the cast of The Middle have any idea how lucky they are!?
For what the house was only a face fake front there was inside behind it all was done at the studio
I love the Middle!!
Outstanding, but sadly it is gone now.
That was incredible. I never knew.
A well done video. Thank you.
Yes, thank you.
I was born in 1961 loved watching bewitched and later on, I had to go back and watch the re-runs of bewitched because, I found out Elizabeth Montgonery was also playing her cousin Serina. I liked Serinas character, she was funny. Watchin the reruns again I enjoyed seeing Serina, more this time, knowing It was Elizabeth Montgonery playing her as well as Samantha. 🙂
My favorite of them all ! The following houses were used a lot too. Father knows best, Marcus welby, I dream of genie, Dennis the menace, dragnet, adam 12 - street scenes, emergency, the partridge family, my three sons, gidget.
It's funny it's such a tiny little street. So many tv memories.
The hottest witch ever had to be Angelique of Dark Shadows. However Elizabeth Montgomery was gorgeous. R.I.P. Sweet Witch.
Grazie per aver pubblicato questo! Adoro questa serie TV, la rivedo sempre con piacere e nostalgia; ho riconosciuto anche altre serie TV...non sapevo che fossero vicine a questa bellissima casa di "Samantha"🌟🌟🌟
Its a good thing you made this video! Bewitched house is gone now! All the houses are gone! They tore down all of Warner Studios!
Best house ever!!!
Beautiful house. Forever a icon in television history and movies.
I never realized how much that House was in so many shows. Thanks for sharing.
I remember seeing the 'Bewitched' house in the 1938- 1942 'Blondie' series. Blondie and Dagwood lived in the house used later for I dream of Jeannie and Father Knows Best. In several episodes the "Bewitched' house is visible.
mark herring I believe you are mistaken. Watch the first part of this video and note that it states the house was built in 1962.
Also, if you’ll watch Dennis the Menace (1959-1963) you’ll see the Bewitched house in Season 4 in several episodes. However, in the first three seasons it’s a vacant lot with only the garage there. The house popped up next to the garage in ‘62.
As a young boy I always wished I could live on Morning Glory Drive with Elizabeth Montgomery.
I am french and i have always loved that show, i am 54 and i remember watching this for the first time in the 75’s, it was so wonderful for me , like a sunshine in my family’s life, and i still watch this show almost every day ……… i don’t like other shows we have nowadays, my favorites ever will stay “bewitched “ at first, green acres and happy days 🤗💖
This house was also used in Charlie's Angels. It was used as the home of Tiffany Welles (Shelley Hack) in season 4.
So sad they are selling the WB Ranch. We will lose all its film history ....
☹️
I have loved Bewitched ever since I was a child. I still enjoy it today. Thank you for this fun and entertaining video!!
Sad update: As of this writing this iconic set-piece is no more. The entire historic row of reel, rather than real houses, which includes those of the Partridge Family, Hazel, the Cleavers and yes, Samantha, and a well-used New York street are NO MORE. Destroyed this past week in the name of corporate "progress."
Such disregard for movie and television history. Absolutely awful what they have done. This street with homes we recognize has existed since the 1930s and they just tore it all down. Unforgiveable.
Remember all the new Chevrolet cars in the driveway Darrin had 67-69 Camaro and Larry Tate had Corvettes Mad Men
And didn't the series Hazel promote Fords
I had a 69 Camaro RS
My dad told me I’d be sorry the day I sold it
Boy was he right!
I distinctly remember an episode (late ‘68) where Samantha was in a parking lot talking to a group of ladies. As they all left, everyone pulled out in the then new for ‘69 Chevrolets!
Larry Tate’s wife pulled out in a Corvette Convertible, another pulled out in Chevelle, another in a Impala four door hardtop, and then Sam had her ‘69 Camaro.
What a great way to advertise! 👌
yes, Shirley Booth did Ford Commercials with her family, even did a new Mustang. The only odd one was Perry Mason, sometimes he was in a Ford and some shows (same year) in a Cadillac, found out when he was in a Ford , guess who the sponsor was? GM was doing it when he drove Cadillacs. that was in the first few years of the show
What a neighborhood to live in, dream land.
Who wouldn't want a witch as a mother in law: one to do all the remodeling on the spot!
Or to turn you into a frog or goat if you tick her off! Or cast some kind of spell on you to make you look foolish, like telling the truth too much even when you should keep things to yourself, or to send you back in time or to the North Pole, or whatever else she can think up to make your life miserable.
Sickening that the Bewitched house is gone. Destroyed! It's saddening!
I have read that the Warner Brothers Ranch, where this house sits in several other classic homes for movies and TV shows. Is being torn down for re-development of the lot, cost 500 million.
It's down the street from The Partridge Family too.
The Dr. Marcus Welby house is also the Beavers house.
Right near the Jones family
I just fell in love 😍..... with a House.... Wow I love that House... after all the years and it's been there all this time.....Love you house
I JUST WANT TO THANK EVERYONE WHO COMMENTED ON THIS VID!!!!! THE VIDEO WAS SOOOO GREAT!!! YET EVERYONE ELSE ADDED TO IT WHICH MADE IT EVEN MORE INTERESTING!!! GEE WHIZ......THANKS
It was good till some bozo posted some filth in the comments.
that was also Dr bellows' house on I dream of jeannie
Great work. Bless.
Wow... Great video, Chris. They can now add WandaVision credits to this house. Talk about coming full circle with Agatha Harkness calling this her home.
mjr nelson's house was the stones house on the donna reed show
The Hazel show house was right next door. The Bewitched house was used in a couple of Hazel episodes. Also the Dennis the menace house was used in a few Hazel episodes too.
Who would not like a living room like that!
Elizabeth Montgomery was one of the most beautiful women. Agnes Morehead was a devout Christian. I learned that a few years back. I was happy to hear it. I loved Bewitch. One of my favorite shows when I was a little girl.
Years ago my family took us to Universal in California and I stood up when we passed the house "Leave it to Beaver" used and shouted "that's it!"
magnificently put together video thank you
Thanks, I never knew these things. I still love that show. Miss them all.
They also used the house for the TV movie Brian's Song. If I'm not mistaken, the Partridge Family house is on the same street. I recognized it on an episode of Bewitched. Also , the house from Leave It to Beaver was Teri Hatcher 's house on Desperate Housewives.
The Beaver house was also the House/Office of Marcus Welby,MD....and the Father Knows Best House was on the same street as well.
Cool! I didn't know that.
There was a Jerry Lewis movie with Morning Glory.
Wow. Cool
Yes this is correct. I live out in the area and you could take the Universal Studio tram tour right through the street and they would show you all the houses (not sure about today).
Love it! Thanks for making my day.
And now being demolished! How sad!
Nicely done! I enjoyed looking back with some gratitude and envy.
Don’t forget it was also in I Dream of Jeannie as the home of Dr Bellows. Great video.
My first "girlfriend," if you can have a girlfriend in first and second grade, was Tabitha herself -- Erin Murphy. She may have been a tv star at the time, but to me she was the sweet friend I used to chase around the playground playing tag. I remember her parents hired a magician for one of her birthday parties. You'd think they wouldn't need one with a witch in the family. 😎
So how old are the two of you today? And do you still keep in touch?
@@floogelhornzzz4770 I am 56, soon to be 57, so she would be the same age. We're not currently in touch, though I went to see her at a show about 20 years ago. It was a fun surprise and we took a couple of photos together. I heard she does some autism activism now, but I'm not sure. She's also on Cameo, the site where celebrities record messages for people.
@@toddprepsky1203: So, a full year after you left your comment, how did you know that someone left you a reply, on a comment that you'd probably forgotten you'd even made? Do you monitor this page? And you went to see her at a show? What kind of show does she do? I've often wondered where child stars go after their show ends. How come she didn't continue her acting career as she grew up? Likewise the Partridge Family kids.
@@floogelhornzzz4770 Easy answer to that one. I get a notification whenever someone replies to a comment. As for the show, it was a Hollywood collectibles show. A lot of TV actors from the 60s and 70s attend these shows to sell merchandise and sign autographs. They're a lot of fun. On that day, Sandra Gould (Gladys Kravitz) was there, as was Kasey Rogers (Louise Tate). Both have since passed away. And at the next booth was Linda Blair from The Exorcist. She was very nice as well.
@@toddprepsky1203: A notification in what, your email? People change email accounts all the time or let their account lapse through inactivity. Or if they get the notification on their computer, tablet or phone, well, people change computers or phones when they wear out or become obsolete. How would a notification still arrive, especially after a full year has passed? And were you surprised that after a year someone finally left a reply to your comment? So how come Bewitched was the only TV show Erin did? And do these old time actors rely on selling this merchandise to make a living? That sounds kind of sad. And what did Linda Blair sell, pea soup? 🤮 😁
My favorite TV show of all time!
Wonderful ... thank you very much indeed.
Classic video thanks for that!
It's the house in the street we all wanted to live on. Can you imagine living on the same street as your favourite TV characters? It would be so much fun.😊🌈
Abner!! Abner!! - gladys kravitz
The funny neighbour😂😂
Amazing! Love this. :)
Love this house!!
This is a nice video but very sad that the Bewitched home amongst others was demolished in the last months 😢😢
And, as you may remember, the exterior for the first four seasons of "Hazel" was right next door to the Bewitched house!
I loooooooooooooooove “bewitched “ 💖💖💖💖
What a nice surprise! I watched every episode of "Home Improvement," even this one where they fix the house of the aunt of the old moocher, "Benny". It never dawned on me the house they used was the "Bewitched" house!
This is awesome!
