Few things, there are pros and cons to every tip and trick; my content is never a ‘you should do this’ but rather a ‘you can do this’ guide. Additionally, I recommend always playing in first person to get the best results - I use third person when recording only, but it’s for aesthetics, not advantage. However, that's just my _recommendation_ but it’s way more important that you play the way you enjoy to play! As I say, "can" not "should" =]

I don't care if people play 1pp or 3pp, just for me, 3pp play videos aren't entertaining to watch. However, 3pp for the sake of a tutorial is just fine.
I had a sniper on my tail yesterday at a massive military base . This was one of the most amazing scary gaming moments I’ve ever had !!! I’m new to this game and I’ll tell you this is one of the best games I’ve ever played. I love how everything is a dynamic event . I heard to bullet tap the wall next to me . With my head set it felt so reallllllllll . My adrenaline was pumping . I survived the encounter due to my patience . But my god it was amazing! What a great game . The moment to moment is the most on the edge experience. Love it .

Patience always pays off. Even for close fire fights. Just get somewhere safe, log off, and go do laundry or something productive. Come back, log in, and things usually figure themselves out and people are either dead or have moved on. Patience is key.

Number one rule: Patience. They aren’t going to always run to you like it’s Call of Duty, it’s like real sniping in a war or hunting, waiting is the biggest factor

Relocate after killing someone and watch the body from another vantage point. People you kill will fall to the ground with their feet pointing towards the shooter and could reveal your position to their friends. This is a good way to spot inexperienced snipers who stay put.
Not always, shot a guy earlier and he fell to the side, i think it depwnds if they are moving or standing still, the latter being a difficult thing to hit since people rarely stand still unless you manage to gethem through a window or in a shed

Zeroing means to change the angle at which the scope sits on the gun by rotating a zeroing metre. The gun doesn't automatically change anything about itself, just to clarify for people.
He’s explaining it right according to the game. This is how the game explains it. Whether it’s technically right or wrong doesn’t matter, as long as it matches the verbage of the game, he’s right.

Honestly the best tip I can give anyone newer to dayz is go play deathmatch servers and implement that playstyle to your actual gameplay just with slightly more caution. People tend to freeze up and try to hide when they get shot at and it gets them killed many times because it allows the shooter to push and get another position on you. Yes you should take cover and try to figure out where the shot came from but you also need to find a good firing position of your own. Do not take fights where the other person has the advantage.
To build on this: if you get shot at and don’t know where, run in a building or behind cover and scan for them, when you find em, don’t stay there and wait for them to push. Run out of the building or cover opposite of the shooter and run a ways away and flank around, keeping cover between you the whole time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve flanked behind someone and shot them while they were still watching the building I was in.

Sniping is my favourite thing to do because in Close range combat I start to get frame drops. One great skill that goes great with sniping, is stalking, knowing where a player has been and where they will be going based in their loot route would def help securing that kill when being stealthy n sneaky
I love sniping too. I kind of have an unofficial series starting now with videos like night travel and this one(plus others which are almost completed) all focusing on how to improve solo play, with things like traps in them. I'm hoping to do a full playlist helping people more with survival and combat =]

One time I sniped at a car for fun lol I noticed the sped up and pulled over farther up the road they were trying to flank me I changed position and watched them advance to a tree line behind small rock wall they all huddled together looking for me I sniped one guy in the head he dropped his buddy's looked terrified they were freezing up it was so fucking awesome then I changed position again and was throwing random grenades at them so much fun the gunshots in the game are so real sounding i love it so many great memories

My go to sniper rifle it’s a odd one but I’m nasty with the m-4 800m head shots
usually when there is a group of people who ur trying to snipe, usually i shoot once than move a bit, the brain can not quite estimate where sound is coming from if they are not expecting it. so firing two shots from the same position can be your own doom.
This is the most geared I've ever been and recently picked up a sniper rifle - I got so excited I had to check how to actually use one 😅

My personal Top Snipers:
1. Mosin (for some reason I kill with one shot with this rifle from the hip up)
2. C550 (rifle with less bullet drop and has 308 magazines)
3. SVD (semiautimatic and has 7.62x54 magazines, but the scope isnt the best)
4. Tundra (.308 and reliable)
5. C527 (Basic but effective, the chargers and the bullets together with the sight are not bad at all, although their damage is not the best)
6. Sporter 22 (Hunting Scope and shoot automatically until you run out of magazine, if he died perfect, if not, run!) 🤣
From my experience you don't choose gear in dayz you get what you find
in the beginning yes but this is mid to top tier game. as an example, i set out to find a tundra today and i had it after half an hour
will say for the VSS dont expect to hit really long shots with it, i saw a goat at 700 meters and decided to test myself and the weapon which failed to get the goat on every shot, with the mosin i had it took it down easily in one shot with no misses, both weapons zeroed for the same distance

Iv seen people snipe with the vss ( im awful at it) but one huge thing to know with it is like .45 9x39 is a sub sonic round so you will have to lead your shots hard

They need to make the dirt move more when the ground is shot sparks on metal items etc
Think a good tip that sniper elite taught me is that if you don't have a suppressor reposition after every shot

For a general solo beginner sniper tutorial, this is good.
I would say that there far more defensive mechanisms and so on, that, if researched, can be abused to get you a bigger success rate. Personally, the biggest lesson I've learned while sniping was having my back secured. That can be applied everywhere in the game regarding choosing a spot, the necessity of certain items and so on. The sniper game is just a game of chess and if you make the right moves you are drastically reducing the luck %.
havent watched the video yet, however i got to say the best friend of a sniper is the cooking pot.
Its various uses fit in a sniper even a ghillie build perfectly.
But to be fair, the cooking pot is the best friend of everyone.

Psychology tactics is wear its at. if you can get that down nobody’s beating you unless you’re caught unexpectedly at close range. It’s a guarantee win if you do it right.

My trouble is hitting targets that are moving I try to aim ahead but the bullet zips past. Anyone have any tips
In dayz my strat is spawn in cherno, go loot for abit, if you don't get cherno mosin i go the prison island run then end up in pavlovo town for a guranteed mosin pick
i'm a little late but, i use a ghillie suit, and a hunters vest for more space to hold food, mags, and other stuff.👍

....damn you dont know how much this helps lol i didnt know changing the range on the rifle actually does anything although i should of expected it to, one question though.. do i still need to change the range like usual even if im at a higher spot then my enemy? For example i was ontop of a castle firing a sniper at oncoming players and lets just say it didnt end well
I'd say so. I'd recommend even on higher/lower ground zeroing to the proper distance if you can. Bullet drop can become harder to predict at elevation but zeroing basically makes it a straight line so it can be especially useful in situations like that. I have a clip coming in a few days in one of my videos of me taking out a guy at the top of a castle as he was shooting at other people funnily enough, but before the shot I zeroed. Without it I'd have to do a lot of guess work and I probably would have missed.

Everybody keeps saying to wear sunglasses if the sun is on your face but they fail to remember that the sunglasses give off a glint and a good sniper will look for something like that

So when someones lets say 342 Meters out do i zero the scope to 300 or 400 since its over 300 meters.
Either one you'll probably get a hit if you aim for centre mass. However, for best results I'd zero on the lower end(300) and aim upper centre mass to compensate for any slight drop.
You cant snipe with the vss, anything past 250m is essentially impossible since the bullet literally takes a whole second to land at that distance

The VSS/As vall is my favorite guns in DayZ. I do not use them to snipe. CQB encounters only with the 20 round magazines. AP ammo is also a must but regular 9x39 is viable. VSS is a select fire weapon and is capable of out shooting a M4 in a CQB situation. Sometimes I get lucky when I land multiple shots long range. Longest kill with a VSS is 209 meters
its a good weapon, but i only use it at 300 meters max, otherwise it starts to get really goofy, since the ammo is subsonic.

I rarely snipe with a VSS. I got lucky tbh. Majority of the time I use the VSS in CQB
I suggest aiming center mass if shooting within 100m. you can actually be hitting above your target and lose the kill.
Especially with the VSS I find. You can zero to 100m though on most guns which is very useful.

So ever since the og mw2 I've been a main sniper in any game with a sniper. And over time I've adapted what i call patrolling. I never camp, or sit in one place. I always patrol an area. I'll stay in one AREA for a few minutes ALWAYS MOVING, and then move to another part of the map and do the same there. Staying low in one area but never in one spot.
In dayz movement is what gets you spotted. In cod its what keeps you alive. But in dayz if you move too much youll die without ever seeing them
What the other guy said. You patrol a town I've set up in. You may have a "Your Dead" moment. Without ever knowing where it come from.
CoD and DayZ are completely different. My CoD buddies go into Games like Day Z and Arma, and get mad because they ran out into the middle of a fight and die instantly. In these games all guns kill you equally.
Here is a funny CoD vs Arma situation. We were moving positions, and called out to the squad. My buddy come running and jumped to his death from the 4 story of a building. Then was mad that he died and rage quit. Haha.

There is nothing more fun and more annoying than fighting a competent sniper. My internet cant handle anything other than sniping. Witch works in my favor because i start to lag a little when someone gets too close

It can zero from 100-700m, if you know how to use it, it's deadly both. It's only the VSD that considers specific ranging for optimal damage.

Somehow survived but my Clothes were ruined and i had 3 bleeds. Only 2 uses of a bandage. Lucky i had a ski mask and crafted rags and i was healthy so didn’t catch any infection from using damaged rags without Disinfecting them
