That is straight up untrue.
#1- MUSHROOMS: If you see mushrooms, a player has passed through the area between 5minutes to 1hr beforehand. If the mushrooms are in pristine condition, they are no more than 10 minutes old. A pristine mushroom accompanied with the sound of flies, means the player in still within a decently close range. If you see two or more mushrooms in a tight group, it usually means a player has been occupying a small area for 15 minutes or more.
#2- ANIMAL AGGRO: Animals make distress noises when spooked. If you hear an animal spook more than 30 meters away, it was someone else.
#3- GLOW STICKS: glow sticks in loot locations are a sure sign that someone has looted the area.
#4- ZOMBIES: Use optics to scout towns. If you are more than 200 meters from the town and see zombies, someone else triggered their spawn. If you see more than four zombies gathered at any particular building, either the building is occupied, or than was the last detected location of a player by the zombies.
#5- REVERSE IDEOLOGY: always look where you would be FIRST, then look where you expect them to be. A lot of places have just a few obviously ideal recon points. Look for who might kill you first, before looking for a target.
#6- PATIENCE: any decent player will have a cache or base somewhere. If you run across a cache, they don't have anything irresistible, or aren't close to home... leave everything as you found it. You don't have to go full recon... just keep a mental note, and keep an eye out when passing through. It's best to let their loot grow to desirable levels, than trigger a reaction over a box of ammo.
COUNTERMEASURES
1- avoid traveling the same route more than once in a 3hr period, or your mushroom trail will make it obvious.
2- it seems great to have a base camp with limited access... but what you want, is limited line-of-sight. Limited access forces you to travel areas close to home far more frequently, and greatly increasing the chance of detection.
3- WILDERNESS CAMP: if you have a base established in a building, IT WILL get raided at some point. It's important to have at least one stash in the woods, far from any buildings, trails, or other points of interest... and only go there once a month to keep it from despawning. In this camp, you should keep a full set of clothes, a bottle of pills, a hoe, tomato seeds, a basic shotgun, ammo, a compass, and a pair of binoculars. If you can swing it, a MK II pistol and ammo is great too. You may never use it... but if you go back and your stuff is missing, you know someone is routing through the area.

One of the big ones to make sure you spot people is to scan opposite of your reading direction. For english speakers that mean scanning for players to start going right to left, bottom to top. It makes your brain actual process information better since you aren't just overlooking things.
Another tip would be to slightly un focus your eye when scanning and let your eye jump to movement.
I believe the us military also uses this. I forget exactly where I learned this.

@@Nitno it makes sense trees are building a repetitive pattern ur brain kind of goes into standby after a whilesr observing so switching up ur way to look around forces it to process information again. Its basically impossible to spot someone with camo in the woods when he is not moving. The best way is to stay calm stop moving and only observe with your eyes it’s easier to spot small movements like that.
if you drop a flashlight at the top of the stairs and stand behind it, you can see a player coming up the stairs, but they will be blind coming up in the dark

gathered after 8 hours with my 2 buddy's 2 punch card's for the bunker , we send 1 to the bunker to observe 8 hours straight !!
he saw more players waltzing around there waiting than we after all that time crossing the map to get them !! so they could technically getting high reward with less effort

Dude I’m hundreds of hours in this game and I still don’t really go for kills unless I’m pushed or I’m sniping. I actually stumbled across a dude at a military base the other night I downed him just for the simple fact it was me or him, but I checked him for good loot, he had nothing apart from like a ridiculous amount of raw chicken, he must of had 7 chickens worth. I didn’t finish him, I just left. Kills don’t really do it for me, robbing people’s stash on the other hand or gas runs, that’s more fun.

@@crisp523 It's refreshing to come across a player with morals. I've never killed anyone but a few infected. I was still a noob when I stopped playing because I died so many times while trying to figure out what button I was supposed to push. Now I just get my joys by watching the videos.
I try to be stealthy, but apparently im still doing something wrong. Nine times out of ten I get sniped from somewhere, and every time I die instantly.
Gets frustrating, when spending days looting and collecting equipment, just to get shot instantly, without any sight of other players the whole time.
I feel ya. Honestly though, I've got 4k hours and most of my lives last 3 hour or less. I get less attached to my gear and dying isn't as painful. I like to take risks (within reason) and either get a come up or go out with a bang.

I often find myself being too cautious. Playing solo is pretty hard though.. But I think i'll try to change my style a bit, and be more aggressive

Anytime! Yeah sometimes I can be too cautious as well. Then I realize 4 hours went by and nothing fun happened! I've started to try to force myself into risky plays more often. If I die, I go again!

Id bet that 90% of the time you are dying to hackers who want your loot. Play on community servers
Be careful of times when you CAN'T hear someone or something. I was in a building during heavy rain. Once the rain slowed, I ran out, looted a building then ran straight into a pack of 5+ wolves I couldn't hear agro on me due to the rain... I managed to quickly sprint back to a building and survive without even a cut, btw.
Also, if you hear a vehicle anywhere nearby while in a city and it stops somewhere in your area, but don't see it or where they stop, STAY PUT if you're not geared. Chances are great that they will spot you soon, and that'll end your run really quick. Get to a spot to snipe from (or defend yourself) if armed, and make sure you have an escape route with cover... If you do run, be sneaky, quiet, and careful.

Wolves will not always howl. Sometimes they come out of nowhere. It wasn’t that you couldn’t hear them because of the rain.

I post up a few minutes at a time while casually moving around big towns. A majority of my kills are from players aggroing or fighting zeds.

Another thing I do with rangefinder is overlook a town before entering like you did, but it's very important to keep in mind that if you see a zombie over 300 away? There's somebody in that town probably because zombies despawn very fast without players within 300m.

Abundant mushroom or fruit when you only just arrived at a spot...
Also if on ps4 and ur surrounding begin to glitch , grass disapear is good indication of buried loot or base nearby very close...also glitching scenery like tress appearing/disapear or walls etc...is a 100% sign a player is in your load zone , a square roughly the size of a medium milirary base, if u see this BEWARE IMMEDIATLY 😮🤔😉

Avoid jumping or valuing if at all possible. I’ve killed several fools that I heard hopping over the fence instead of walking another 10m to walk thru the gap

You can do a quick prone thing which is not predictable and too fast to react to shoot
The way I spot other players is there movement. For example a zombie will have slower movement and predictable actions while a player will have sharper and faster movements.

I shoot zombies whenever I can. You just have to leave the area quickly or wait for the players attracted by the shots to arrive. Going quietly and going unnoticed is not fun.
Play however is most fun!
I play Fallout 4 where quiet and unnoticed is a great way to stay alive. I am also not adverse to running away, far and fast, which was my best option in DayZ.

Yup, check it out for yourself though. Also I'm not an expert on the science behind settings, but I'd say don't assume everything on Poor will always run the best and use the least resources, play around with it, sometimes High on some settings and Poor on others is good to.
Study, Science & fox tactics. Move like the deer in the bush; Move like the Z Apex near human locations and become the hord 📯 or run with the wolves and earn your place as Alpha. You may want to be alone or think it best believe there is a guy in the bushes and that's me😅

I'm a comparative noob as well, I got roughly 100 hours in this. And on two runs I actually got a pristine weapon with multiple mags and ammo. The first time I gotten in a tango with zombies and got in my hotkeys messed up which is how I got in a tangle with zombies... I needed to heal up. Seeing as it was night. I tucked myself into the tent of a military base... Someone with NVG's snuck up on me and put one in the back of my dome.
Fortunately, one of the first videos ever caught about this game was dealing with gear fear. The fear of losing what you got, it's cyclical, and unpredictable, but, unless you're just really unlucky you will always find something that can work.
The biggest lesson I've learned so far aside from some tips from these videos, when it comes to dealing with zombies, stealth is king. Even with a suppressed 45 I end up dumping all my ammo on for zombies and ended up dying anyway

When you talk about trash loot being ledt and things like that i means that is quite obvious alot of the time its been dropped .
But whats the despawn time for items being dropped ? Thats the info we need
Each item is different, usually around 2-6 hours or so.
Thank you for the tips, killing fresh spawns like that kinda breaks my heart though. You gotta use your voice and make a story of it if you are going to mess with a freshie.

I manage to get back on my location about 1h30 after i died but nothing remain - i was wondering if a lucky player get there before me or if my loot dissapeared after i died...
Ahhh, hmm I cannot remember the Vanilla values (they change time to time) but I want to say you have a bout 45 minutes. Community servers often make it even less.
Depends, if you strip things off your body to vicinity it will remain until restart. Loot on the actual corpse - probs 45 min.

@@emiljai8346 Yes, I usually drop my backpack with spare guns, meds and ammo (because you do not need to triple carrying weapon if you’re going to loot the place/loot a dead guy anyways.) After a successful counter, I usually pick off the dead guy’s backpack/you are mostly going to find a backpack anyways in military area.
All of these are great, and naturally can be adapted, but how about some tips to identify whether players would shoot first rather than start a conversation?
These progressively become more matters of how to murder, not merely stay alive. Just saying. DayZ seems to do things to people.

There truly isn't a way to tell.
You can wiggle, get close and say you're friendly, and even "befriend" someone and run with them for hours.
And then get betrayed and shot in the back.
My advice: play with people you know and assume everyone else will try to kill you.

Logged into Livonia for the first time heard some shots ran towards them . I found a pile of killed zombies and humans , I also found another fresh spawn and we started looting together . After I noticed he found a rifle my pick axe naturally ended up in his head. I found some amazing loot from all these bodies night vision my best. Then I was shot at, luckily I only received a cut and made a quick getaway into the forest...

I do the whole TWD thing. How many zeds did you kill? How many humans did you kill. And y? It reall works. If ya aint got a mic then we all know what happens. But really questioning new ppl and light interrogation you should be good. I try to think of what would i would do if i was patrick bateman, ted, night slasher. All them psychos. They give you an idea of ppls minds when they aren't morally obligated or honorable.
That is actually a really good idea haha, I might have to add that to my interactions.
I think the way people act in this game in a non-survival encounter tells you a lot about that person in real life. As for myself, in real life, I don't hold grudges. After a while I do have them stuffed and mounted on my wall for later revisiting.

One word, Fast Sync.
People will tell you you get latency blablabla.
If you have a decent setup and can run the game at constant max monitor's refresh rate, activate it, if not don't use it.
It will make you invincible.
Can you explain this further?
@@Nitno Nvidia's Fast Sync setting, under v-sync settings. It does simulate the effects of g-sync. Forces the gpu to NOT render frames beyond the refresh rate, therefore you get no tearing. If the framerate goes under your max refresh rate the the process will disable itself by itself and introduce tearing.
For it to be extremely efficient I'd suggest using a framerate locker such as Riva Tuner, for example, this is how I use it:
- I activate Fast Sync for Dayz in the nvidia control panel, then
- I set a custom profile in Riva Tuner for Dayz to lock at 150fps (my max refresh rate being 144), the game then will run and oscilate from 150 to 145fps for the most part, and will likely never go under 144fps thanks to the in game graphic settings I have (by the way Dayz is pretty light on your system so it's easy to run it at high frame rate with a decent low to mid tier setup).
- If the game never renders under 144fps then Fast Sync is always activated and I get absolutely no tearing while keeping a low latency high frame rate experience.
Having no tearing in a game such as dayz or even pubg is often 90% of your survival succes rate since you see the ennemy first. Especially in dayz where the foliage can get pretty intense. People will tell you you get latency using Fast Sync but if your setup can run the game constantly at max refresh rate, you won't notice it, it will be butterly smooth. All this will result in you being able to spot ennemies at least 80% more easily and will be a more pleasant gaming experience, you'll survive longer.

Yeah I know, I feel like that's some bullying type shit right there. And a way for them guys to practice shooting. Not not fair really to give the new guys a chance to at least get outta the spawn town! To even learn the mechanics of the game. I'm usually super cool with the freshies. "With or without a mic" But only trust people from a far.
I helped a freshie damn near half way across the map the other day. Without a mic. And started earning trust from him? And we was doing good until 5 or 6 military zombies jumped us! I got on top of the big blocks.. and he didn't, got killed. And.. I felt bad really and lonely for the first time 😢 lol. I'm usually run solo.. and I'm a new guy to the game myself. But this game is off the hook shit I've never experienced in a video game!!!
I just stood there and stared at his dead body for 5 minutes after I killed off all the zombies.. and decided what to take from him. It was dull feeling. Makes me want to stay solo and not get attached to people?

@@Nitno Someone mentioned Night vision only spawning via helicopters and convoys. They actually spawn in high tier loot zones as well and can be commonly found at Tisy.
Another mention was the bogus that is the mushroom trick.

Yeah I only play First person too. I mostly edit these vids in 3pp for visual reasons. I recommend First person
@@Nitno i like it because you spend a lot of the game looking around and its natural to have 180+ degree vision like in real life. the 90 we get in video games is like always being one eyed. its pretty stupid to use 3pp to look over walls and stuff however so for serious pvp games i prefer 1pp but dayz for me at least is more about survival. Most fights end before they begin anyway because you see them first
