Had a 40 hours playthrough. My first playthrough:
- Started out with almost nothing.
- Survived a pack of wolves that attacked me out of nowhere in the forest. Gunned them all down with my UMP and made them into wolf stakes
- A traveled all across the map to the base in the far northwest in the map.
- I lived from fishing and killing wild chickens...
- Never learned to throw a grenade properly
- Discovered a lot of weapons but really didn't have space for them all.
- Spotted 2 dudes at a military base... I ran away. One spotted me and began to shoot. I got hit but hid in the forest. I bandages my wounds and healed over time.
My adventure stopped very abruptly. I was booting up the PC, loaded the server, and it was night. I only had a red flashlight, that I used to see just something since it was pitch black. I thought I would be OK since the server only had "low" number of players.
I looted some buildings and went outside to go to the next place. I hear gunshots muffled a couple of them, and the screen flashed "You died"...
This was my story.
I guess the guy was loaded up, had night vision etc.
Having a family to take care of DayZ is simply not the best of options, since it's very time-consuming. It was a good story, but I think I will go to other places since I mostly can only play shorter sessions. I enjoyed my time though and was nice to have this story, but for now I think I got what I could out the game with the limited time I can put in.

In addition to the audible stealth section of the video, certain equippables will contribute to how loud you are. Combat backpacks and leather backpacks are completely silent, allowing you to walk around quietly as if you had no backpack on. Tactical shirts also make no extra noise, and putting your guns in your bag to remove their rustling on your shoulders is ideal if you have the room.

I just died during my first attempt to make it through a night. My 3rd time playing, I holed up in an enclosed room just north of Nizhneye. Spent the day accumulating some food and drink, then tried to light a fire using a drill plank. It wouldn't give me the option to start the fire for some reason, and I kept trying for about 5 minutes. Eventually I was kicked from the server from a spike in my ping, and when I rejoined I heard someone running around outside. Panicking slightly, I grabbed my baseball bat. The second he opened the door I whacked him and he ran away. I sat there in absolute silence for a few minutes before hearing him slowly creep up again. I readied my bat as he opened the door again and saw his character from the light of my glowstick, but my game stuttered for a few seconds and when it sorted itself out he had already beaten me unconscious with a pipe wrench or something. I woke up moments later, he had looted everything off of me but was still in the room, standing in the corner eating my food. I desperately tried to equip my baseball bat but he was faster and dealt me the killing blow.
So basically I got robbed and murdered in the dead of the night. Honestly one of the more terrifying experiences I've had to date in multiplayer video games.
10/10 my heart has never beat so hard
Hey Man! Love the story! Make sure you have some form of kindling, as well as fuel for your fire or it won't start. Fuel includes firewood, sticks etc, and kindling includes paper, rags, bark etc. You only need one kindling and you're good to go👌
@@Arrow-dx1ov Ah thanks dude! I did have those kindling items but upon reflection I think it wouldn't give the prompt to start because I was indoors when you have to be outside to use the campfire item.
Yeah man this game get my heart racing like no other.
One of my first attempts at it after being shot a few times already from trusting people I was camped inside a house sorting my gear and heard someone outside. I had a feeling he would check the house I was in so I waited in the bedroom, as soon as he came in I put 4 rounds in his chest and sat there in silence wondering if I should book it or stay in the house lol. My heart was pounding. Another time tho someone came in the house I was in but they didn’t know I was in there, I left all the doors open but the front door so I knew he came in and I hid behind the door upstairs. He came right in but didn’t see me. I sat there for 10 min listening to him cook food downstairs and eating. I thought man I could kill him so easily right now he has no idea I’m chillin upstairs. Eventually I just waitied for him to be on his way and left him alone. Trying to build some good karma I guess but my heart was still racing lol

Night time isn’t bad at all, best time to move around unnoticed. People are always telling me they have trouble finding night vision, but I never do. Gotta actually look lol.

@@epicmemer5277 do you play first person only? I’ve found 4 nvgs on the official server I play. On first person only official I’ve heard that the loot is less generous and I only got a NVG from killing someone on that server.
@@x7Votorious84x i do play on oficial but sometimes i also play on a custom server called ! And there i also havent found night vision but tbh i like that i have not found it yet it gives me something to strive for
220 hours played, I found them once at a helicopter crash site. I play vanilla servers for the most part.
I like the night a lot but it definitely scares a lot of people. I cant remember the exact number, but official has very few NVG spawn at any one time. Community servers always boost that up though - I just search for helicopter crash sites whenever I want specialised stuff in between hitting military compounds. I'm doing a video now and just got the VSD I wanted in about 4 crashes =]

Always use red glow sticks or lights if you can. Red light travels less, so it’s harder to spot at night

@@jordanz4264 it’s how it is in real life and it’s why every military uses red lights for infantry. It’s not going to be better by much but it’s definitely harder to see than white light

@@jordanz4264 red light has a longer wavelength. Blue light is the hardest to see overall but red light is better on hardcore servers. So red or blue light is best
I just started playing day z a few months ago, I’m now a pro player basically my key tips to stay alive for a long time are always listening for chickens, search for knives so you’re able to open can foods/ skin chickens Also search for water bottles and canteens this will help you to be able to get to each town and find the water wells. I’m still alive on the same life since the new update a few days ago. I found a couple pistols. SSG sniper, ak74u, a working car but I need a battery and spark plug for it to run.

On PC it's L. Tap it for light, hold for night vision if you have them on. Console I'm pretty sure you tap triangle/Y going off memory 😅
you can also turn your brightness up in your settings :)
Only works if your server is not a full dark server
Making your silhouette obvious against the sky is known as "skylining", in military terms. As the video says, skylining should be avoided at all costs.
The night is my favorite time in the game. I wished it lasted longer.

I was put off the night when I didn't have night vision. I was killed fishing with a red headtorch in the absolute middle of nowhere once and it scared the shit out of me. Another time me and a friend were just trying to go from a - b and ran into a squad of guys with nvgs. We didn't have nvgs and tried to hide in a house but it didn't matter they just threw several grenades into the building. no conversation with us or anything. So I have been put off the night for a long time even knowing those tricks I can see why people leave servers when it gets dark.
Night is hard, no arguments here and on community servers NVG are definitely less rare, but I've had some incredible encounters at night. DayZ can become a completely different game but I'd say it is worth playing through

Does console have the dark give more light? Your video is nearly pitch black, but when I run around at night I can still clearly see. Not sure if this is related to the amount of moonlight available?
Ah you think darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!
Fps only night vision is hard to find to many people hoarding them

What server do you play on that the night is so dark? I play on officials and the night I very bright compared to the one you show us.
On xbox and ps4 the full dark servers are usually the first person only ones
