  • Daniella Mestyanek Young was born into the Children of God sex cult - one of the few sex cults that exist today - that is known for Joaquin Phoenix and Rose McGowan, where she was subjected to all sorts of awful acts as a child, before joining the U.S. Army as a soldier.

Learn Hebrew so you can actually know what the bible sells and will learn about Yeshua=Jesus. God says you need to love God with all of your heart, all of your mind, all of your soul, and all of your strength. God wants you to have a healthy body, mind, and soul. The Duggar's cult, IBLP, also teaches that if you're molested it's because God removed his protection from you & allowed it to happen because of some sin you committed. They even have a family Wisdom booklet with questions to help you figure out the sin you committed to cause it: not being modest, disobey8ng your parents, hanging out withbbad friends, etc. The founder of the IBLP homeschool group, Bill Gothard, has been accused of molesting 30-something teens girls. I wish he would be charged by the FBI for his crimes & someone would make a documentary on him & how he created homeschool materials that groomed all these parents to groom their kids so he could easily prey on their teen daughters for decades before anyone told. He is an evil genius, & imo, he wouldn't have been forced to resign by good men in the cult, like Gill Bates, after girls & some parents started speaking out due to Duggar fame & internet posts, connecting victims.

As someone who's served in Afghanistan, agree with her 100% on the military. Nobody back home was any safer due to us being there, and nobody in the States is any safer because of their military base in Cuba. Occupying a part of a foreign country.
Unfortunately since the military was my first cult ever, this had only occurred to me once I was already in and over there.
I remember it very clearly...being on one particular patrol, my company being shot at and returning fire for the first time in the war, having to make a swift maneuver off of the beaten path and eventually ending up in an isolated village where the folks openly told us the last white soldiers they had seen were the Soviets...and we would end up the same as them.

I practiced and studied 2 Martial Arts for over 7 years. I never "hoped" for a situation to occur that I got to use it. I was taught to turn my emotions off if someone was trying to take my life or a loved one's life. Also in conceal carry, I don't walk around hoping to have to draw my firearm. When I put my firearm in the holster, I actually say a prayer. I pray that I never have to use it but also pray that God gives me a steady hand and heart if I have to protect myself or others. I'm not arguing that the military doesn't do what she said. My point is that not every kind of combat training instills that hope of a fight/battle.

      @Kari.F. Рік тому +10

Yes, but you're not in a cult, are you? For most people, martial arts training is a relatively minor part of a full life. It's a good thing to know, "just in case", an also an excellent form of exercise. In addition to the training, you also work and/or study, hang out with friends and family, party, go on vacations, watch movies, spend time with your gf or bf etcetera. However:
If you had trained martial arts because you grew up in the brainwashing and isolation of a cult, and the martial arts training was assigned to you by the cult, it would be the purpose and focus of your entire existence. You wouldn't do it "just in case". Doomsday is near, and 100% certain. That's what you spend your life training and preparing for. That's why you'd be out recruiting new members to the cult. You have to spend every waking moment training for doomsday and save souls for the cult, because otherwise you will spend all eternity burning in the fire and brimstone of Hell and God's damnation. People in cults both fear and long for Doomsday. The entire purpose of your life has been to preparing for that day. If you really listen to what she says, and consider the context in which she says it, it is easy to understand the difference between why you and I do what we CHOOSE to do "just in case", and why cult members do what they HAVE to do because Doomsday is very near. Their mindset and reasons for doing what they do is obviously very different from ours.

I'm so glad I found this channel. Daniella was an amazing guest. I'm absolutely going to get her book. Her insight into the military was fascinating. I understand your point about the necessity and benefit of the military. I think that what she said can better inform how we handle the people who serve. In order to be an effective soldier, one must be trained to overcome instinct. The fight/flight instinct must not direct a soldier's behavior. We know that we, in the US, are losing as many vets to suicide as soldiers to war. That is a serious problem. In order for the military to do right by our vets, they need to receive training for re-entering society. If training is a kind of programming, they need deprogramming in order to be safe for themselves and those around them. I know we have to be careful to choose our words carefully. If we told soldiers, "You need deprogramming," they would, rightfully, be offended. I so don't mean it that way. I think the VA needs the resources to properly help vets, and the military needs to allow the last couple of months of service to be lent to a not optional therapy while serving at a post at home. They'll never agree to it. It would need to be required of them because it costs money to help people after squeezing them for all the service you can for 4+ years, but they deserve a better chance.

Mormonism is larger and has more money than the Vatican. I guess this comes down to the difference between a cult and a religion. Christianity is the largest cult, technically. A cult becomes a religion when it's embedded in and normalized in a culture, I think. By this definition , JW might be the largest cult because it's on the edge of culture and not assimilated.

    • @Geoplanetjane

Mormons May think they have been mainstreamed as a real religion, but that is still only the case in Utah and maybe in Wyoming, Idaho, and parts of Colorado. So they are definitely a cult, which more and more of the aware members have begun to realize. So I do believe that Mormonism in all its fundamentalist and even more liberal offshoots.

At 14 that is a risky age to give birth because you could not be developed enough to have the baby. We need to arrest parents that sell their children for sex.

Greetings, Andrew! Am writing this from my U.S. West Coast city, where we’ve had yet another 95 degree day… (Summers have become Hellish here in the Pacific N.W., and I can’t wait for this one to end. Are you still having extreme heat in England)?
The one bright spot in my miserably hot day, was recalling that you had a new video uploaded, and checking it out.
I first heard of the Children of God cult years ago, and do remember Joaquin Phoenix being in the news in connection with it. Aside from that, have long had curiosity around cults in general, so this interview was right up my alley, subject-wise. Your guest, survivor/author Daniella, was excellent from start to finish, and I was fully engaged throughout the interview. (As an extreme AD/H/D’er, I often find myself unable to stay fully engaged, because I lose interest, for example, when someone is very redundant). She was a great guest, and I always appreciate your relaxed approach to interviewing. So, I must thank you for helping me to forget my misery for awhile! I really enjoyed this episode, and have a lot left to explore on your channel… I am now subscribed, and looking forward to new interviews. Wishing you, and yours, the best-and no more “dog days” of August!

I was in the military for 6.5 years and I always thought of it as a type of cult in how training for all these mission types would happen. Like learning how to setup an anti-tank mine. The truth of the matter is if the rod you insert in the too of the mine moves so far, you can blow yourself up if you aren't careful. We literally trained how to deploy things like that with the knowledge that it could very easily kill us while just setting it up lol, and we would do it without a second thought.
I do believe that countries need military strength, but I feel like the "programming" side of it needs to be taken out. People should want to protect their country, and not talked into it, which leads me to my next point. I personally feel, after serving from 2002 to 2009, that a lot of programming happens before the military. I say that because a good many people in basic training were already militarized before getting to basic. They would talk about their families, and how "patriotic" they all were. They would talk about how they grew up always believing the military was the best career choice in the world, and the only way you can come to that conclusion is if you've been told since birth that it's the only great job around. So it felt like a lot of people were already, or halfway programmed for the military already.
I grew up in a pretty liberal family. Most of my family had served in combat arms, but they never glorified it, so I didn't approach it from a "patriotic" idea. I just thought it would be a great place to get some discipline because I felt like I couldn't get control of my life. About 80% of my time in was me just doing what I had to do, or as close as possible to it, so I could get out lol. Now I am very left leaning, but I also have an understanding of the right as well. Most people say centrist, but I like to think I am more humanist than anything, like what do humans need in order to be safe, and make sure nobody tries to attack us, and not just blind loyalty to any one thing, or idea.

It seems like there is a lot of culty behavior in much of our culture when people are told if they think a certain way, they are (pick a name) and are shunned. It's so true that the cult "playbook" is frighteningly similar to the military, politics and I've even noticed this recently in watching documentaries about elite athletes. See documentary about Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish who were top US tennis players. Their academy training was brutal, they were brainwashed to perform a certain way and became commodities instead of human beings.

She didn't believe me and laughingly told me that I would change my mind -- I never did, nor did I ever regret protecting my kids by never having them. We all have free will and to this day, the blithe denial and stupid thoughtlessness with which most people approach family planning and pregnancies on a roasting, overpopulated planet disgusts me. And yes, I have been pushed endlessly to have children, almost always by women who themselves can't have babies but wish they could. What an interesting conversation! I was waiting for her to bring up family as a cult. And you brought it up with Beavis and Butt-Head!!! We need to talk more about the family as a cult basis. I was in the air force for ten years and related to it being a cult as well.
Thank you Andrew, it was a thought provoking episode. Appreciate you!

Another very enjoyable, informative and thought provoking interview.
I’m not a military person, so I don’t really know what impact women have in the military, but I wonder if more women in the armed forces would really result in fewer wars? The assumption that women are more maternal and therefore less likely to fight or kill, doesn’t convince me. I look to nature and think of lionesses vs the lion. They are the ones who do the hunting. The maternal instinct to protect your children is very powerful incentive to fight. Examples of women leading in battles or calling for war are Milunka Savić, Boudicca, Joan of Arc (if she is more than a legend), our very own Margaret Thatcher, Elizabeth I and Ng Mui. No doubt there are countless fierce women in the Israeli Army, American and Russian Armies and so many more I've never even heard of. 🤔

My question would be how did she manage to break or rewire her brain and training to that which is healthier and/ less intrusive especially pertaining to her child. I can only imagine being triggered for example when witnessing or experiencing my daughter expressing authentic moments of joy or even sadness

My goodness, these are real eye openers! Cults are bizarre, just lost people looking to be part of something or seeking power. Humans need to start looking within for that and stop joining cults 🤣🤣🤣
