  • This is part 1 of my interview with international superstar and one of the world's most famous singers and pop stars, Robbie Williams. I did it alongside the wonderful Shaun Attwood ‪@shaunattwoodOFFICIAL‬ and Jenn Hopkins, and we spoke for 2.5 hours. Part 2 is out next week. Rob is my childhood hero, so I can't tell you what a dream and a pleasure this was, he was everything you could ever hope for!

Fellow addict and alcoholic here, grateful to be in recovery for almost 10 years. I love Robbie’s transparency regarding his addictions…I wish more celebrities in recovery were as open. I truly believe that it encourages people to seek help. Robbie Williams, you are so loved. ☺️

Agree 100%, also as an addict and sober for 5 years now, when people with a large platform and following, open up and be real about their experiences with addiction it does make a huge difference for people and makes me feel less alienated from people when someone that is famous deals with the same things I have dealt with I really respect them for coming forth and speaking their truth.

As one of the few Americans who've followed Rob's career for almost 20 years, I'm so pleased that he seems settled finally with a wife and kids. I never understood why he didn't break through here because he's such a talent. I think he's a great undiscovered actor too. I've seen him in sketches displaying superb comic timing and his videos demonstrate great emotional range and depth. He always seemed to me a gutte nashuma (Andrew you need to translate transliteral Yiddish.) I hope I'm right.

The song - which was a hit in the States - was Angels. I'm American and thought the song was sung by Elton John.... After we moved to Malta I started watching British MTV. I was exposed to so many singers and groups I wasn't familiar with - like Take That and Robbie Williams etc. I've been a Robbie Williams fan ever since. (Since 1997!)

It did mean he could live the high life in the US without the downsides of fame - i.e. the obsessed fans and papparazi that he got in the UK. I remember watching an doco or something where he had a date over to his fancy apartment and she saw all his photos and awards and was like 'who are you, are you famous?'.

Well done Robbie, awesome interview, we’re actually very lucky to still have you, you could have very easily fallen away back in the day. Somehow you found your way back off the slippery slope and that’s admirable, good to see you comfortable in your own skin these days and self aware. Dig some of those 100 unreleased/unheard songs out please, we need to start hearing you again! You have deserved the accolades and Knebworth was awesome, you were definitely high that night on the energy coming from the audience back at you, how does it feel to have that many people singing your songs back at you word-for-word, to the point you can stop singing and soak it all up?

I'm from Stoke originally. I met Robbie getting on train from London to Stoke. I was taking my mountain bike on the train as that was the way I got around when I was visiting my mum up there. He'd just left Take That and the spot light was on him. He was drunk but utterly charming. He asked me about my bike and we had a chat walking along the platform, whilst flanked by a couple of police officers. He went to first class (of course) but when we both got off at Stoke he chatted to me again. I was never a fan. But that sincere meeting left a big impression on me and I just thought what a top bloke. Just a shame he supports Port Vale.

I can relate with Robbie on many levels. I am an oil painter/artist and am a feeler. Feelers often battle addictions in acceptable addictions like food/drinks and yet it is the feeler part of us that make us good at our art. I love hearing his journey on how that he got control of his life becoming more self aware. Obviously, surrounding himself with people like his wife has helped him improve himself. Same with me with my very disciplined husband! Great interview Andrew!

I'm not artistic but definitely a feeler and it is difficult to be around people and even family that I adore because I am tossed too and fro on the waves of the emotions of thr people im with and of the next person to walk in the room. Be it happy, sad, angry, upset whatever it is, I sometimes feel bruised after being around people

I can also resonate with Robbie's battle with ADHD as I have it also, its crippling, especially mentally, with the constant remuneration, and criticizing yourself for everything you say and do, can't imagine battling that and going on stage and how he sustained his career..amazing, but can totally see how drugs and alcohol would play its part. Great walk down memory lane...well done on the podcast..

I was a little weary of watching this episode. But it was quite catharticat as I once again realised I don't know anything. I mean I could even see Sean not frothing at the mouth with the sensatiolisme of having one of Britain's greatest popculture icons on the show. I always thought Robbie Williams was just an English brat, very entitled and had let things go to his head. A bit like we see in James Corden nowadays...maybe that's another wrong perception of mine, I don't know. But I found myself to really liking Robbie and this really changed my opinion of him. What a funny and genuinly nice person he is. No inflated ego, just very endearing and very British.

Listening to him really brings back the vibe UK culture brought to the world in the 90s; brattish fun loving strong with a smile, take no shit mentality, though Robbie seems to have had a very different experience of those times...i hope he'll create the type of art that would resonate the pure positive essence of those ideas.

I always believed Robbie was a Freemason because when he got his 40 million pound record deal he virtually rose back to the top after being in the depths of depression after take that, he even said and joked he sold his soul for fame and fortune, Katy Perry has also said the same so has he entered into a contract with the one eyed club, same one Bob Dylan has stated he can never leave.
If you think what iv'e said is unfounded then look into Altiyan Childs video, he was a former mason and details who they are.

@@AndrewGold1 Yes, it is beautiful. I didn't connect it to him because when it was originally out and played on the radio, I was listening without knowing the singer. Thanks to UA-cam I've seen a lot of great British and Irish content that otherwise I wouldn't have access to over here. Often I discover channels like yours by accident, because they get suggested to me based on something that I've watched...and then I subscribe of course! I didn't have to be a huge fan of Williams to find this interview really interesting. It's great to have a good singing voice, but when you can also create the songs, that's real talent. I guess you could say that I started watching you for Scientology/cult content and stayed for the musical talent! Lol

I have loved Robbie for years. As an American, I think there were silly reasons why he never broke through in the US, starting with the break up of Take That just as they had a hit in the US. Some of his early solo albums had British slang that some Americans don’t understand. He is a wonderful Actor, his videos are almost cinematic, too. Also the unfortunate problems with he has had with things that altered his perceptions.

  • @NativeIntelligenceCheckMyDJmix

yay Andrew... you must be well chuffed for this ..lol. Did i use that right? haha. I only know of Robbie cause I dated a woman from Redding whose mother would always go on and on about him and Tom Jones too. For Americans that don't know Mr. Williams, just think if Charlie Sheen was a music pop star. Excited for this interview!!!

How I dealt with sugar addiction:
-1 I upped my water consumption. No flavored waters.
1- I had to make a list , for me mentally, of all the sugar, processed food and added sugars I used over a day and where I used them.
2- I then chose to cut back on added sugar as much as I could such as what I add to cereal and coffee. Cereal was no problem. Coffee stayed the same.
3- then I started making sure I cooked homemade and tried to eliminate as many processed foods from the store, not fast food necessarily but if it happens then ok. With the only processed food being my favorite. This forces you to make choices about what really tastes good.
4- soda…… started cutting that down first. Calculated how I drink it. How much I drink and when my favorite times to have it are. With that knowledge I then cut my consumption in half. I realized I only liked fountain sodas and only bought those. Realized I liked them when having popcorn and pizza and so I chose to make those snacks and meals the only time I had soda. The rest of the time it was water. I no longer drink soda. I miss Pepsie. Yes I am addicted to it.
5- once you start cooking homemade and limiting your soda your brain will start making healthier fast food choices till you don’t want it but you do. That’s when we started making our favorite fast food home. Big Mac omelette. Who needs white bread? No one. Trust me it’s a major sugar source. Major addiction point for me and everyone. And let’s not forget homemade cheesey crunchy Gordita!!!!!
6- when the voice dumpster dives through my brain and brings up things I can eat because I haven’t had them in so long and I haven’t thought about them…. I bring up something worse to scare that inner voice so it stops doing that. Basically the “oh well your going to play that anxiety card to get me to eat ? Or do what ever bad thing it is that I don’t want to do ? Well how about this memory that’s worse that I’m already at peace with. “ and little by little the dumpster diver will learn it doesn’t need that extreme to feel safe. It won’t need the bad activity and or food. And one will be able to eventually reason with it.
The problem with circular addiction with adhd is that one has to be highly mindful in the present moment and know in the complete second they do not ever want to do that….. and then one has to reinforce it with there adhd brain. At the same time, one also has to confront the trauma of why they are addicted. Only then will addiction be put in place. Other wise one’s circling one’s addictions (what ever form) in rotation with the need of one’s adhd.
My friend has adhd and she deals with it by having five projects to do. When she gets board with one she rotates till one is done and then adds another. If one rotates there addiction like that with there adhd then the addiction is never conquered and the adhd doesn’t learn self organization. Its not that people have addictive personalities….. it’s that there is ,for lack of a better way of saying it, two personalities and one wants to be addicted and dumpster dive through trauma and anxiety to make one do the addictive thing, and the other doesn’t want to. That’s the pull and tug. And the point is to pull the tug out of addiction. Get it to a point where it doesn’t need the addictive thing to be happy. It just needs this…. 🎁…. And no more. And when quiet moments happen the addictive side will be able to be ok and happy because it knows it’s safe.

Fascinating account of the UFO sighting. Sounds like some sort of experimental vehicle or prototype from around 2005. A lot of sightings back then but I haven't heard of one quite like that. If it was so close as to be touchable with a thrown tennis ball and as big as that, I would imagine it would be an unnerving and certainly unforgettable experience. Lots of cases of rock stars seeing UFOs. John Lennon references his own sighting in his song 'Nobody Told Me' from 1980.

I never really listened to Take That because they really didn’t go anywhere in Canada that I know of. I do know the one song ‘Love is all Around Us’, by the Troggs I believe. It was this song in a movie that made me aware of Take That.
I’m really amazed by Robbie’s interview. I always thought he was a bighead. He isn’t though. It’s refreshing when someone opens up like he did. I had no idea. I do love his new word - distractia! I will use that word! It’s brilliant. Thank you for sharing. Enjoyed! 🔹
