The great thing about the S&W offering is that the whole suppressor weight consideration is non-factor due to the outer barrel portion being stationary.
I've always found it very curious that Ubisoft loves their suppressed Five Sevens, but with ammo like this, it turns an oversight into a distinct possibility. Pretty cool!
Interesting. These are almost compareable in caliber/weight/velocity to the Aguila SSS Sniper Subsonic .22LR, although bullet design is obviously very different being one is rimfire and the other centerfire...
Not exactly on topic, but how’s that DT CAOS RMR mounting plate working out for ya? Did you experience a degree of wiggle room as it pivots up and down ever so slightly on that rear screw?
Good Lord, assuming that the microphone on the camera isn't auto ranging, The suppressed shots are around the same level as a speaking voice? I've been wanting to try the subsonic out of my short PS90, but I don't have a suppressor or any plans to get one in the near future. Even unsuppressed, it sounds considerably quieter than what I would have expected.
And you're lucky that Ruger makes the LC carbine in that caliber. Now that more and cheaper ammo options are becoming available it makes a nice choice for a truck gun.
@@eloiseharbeson2483 I really wanted a Diamondback DBX 5.7 for that same application. With the brace issue in play that is off the menu. The Ruger would fit the bill in a larger package, but gawd dog that thing just looks weird. Like you asked a 7 yo to draw a gun lol
@@BuffRANGE it's not, it's 0.808" in length. It's a pill shaped bullet with a flat base, so it has a higher weigh to length ratio than boat tails do. Easier to stabilize than the bullet you feature.
@@BuffRANGE matter of fact, the 70gr semi point is more stable at subsonic speeds from a 1:9" twist than the 55gr FMJ-BT is. The calculators will say 1.77 vs 1.73 S.G. in favor of the 55gr, but that's because the formula doesn't account for a flat base which makes the actual stability higher.
I wonder if the new M&P 5.7 will cycle subs with a rifle suppressor since it has a gas operated locking mechanism and the threaded outer barrel doesn’t move.
Matt I know it's been a while but in the Ruger 5.7 pistol and LC Carbine manual it says that if you are going to use a suppressor it's best to use a 5.56 suppressor on them for best performance. Great video thanks!
800 rds, + or - , and no issues. I have the tandemcross trigger and mag extensions. Like very much both. Do not like the folding stock, cheap/rattley and fat while folded (7/16” between gun and stock when folded). Certainly, the engineers didn’t ask for this. @@martinrps13 Rimfire vs center-fire wasn't my point. Great thing about being guns guys is that there is something for everyone. Even if it makes zero sense to me. Whole point of the 5.7 was it's velocity out of short barrels. To go slow with the cartridge seems counterproductive.
I'm no scientist but it seems like 5.7 would have better ballistic coefficient numbers because of the shape of the bullet. That said, the price is probably close to an order of magnitude cheaper for 22.
I don't know about this bullet, but some subsonic 5.7 is capable of penetrating IIIA. So that's another potential reason to use subsonic 5.7, instead of .22lr, in addition to reliability and ballistics.
