    Paul mentions overpenetration of the speer, while this is an issue in some circumstances, it can be ideal in others... taken from Speer description - This 5.7x28mm round will dominate a threat thanks to its 40 grain jacketed hollow point projectile. As the world’s first true bonded core bullet, the Gold Dot’s electrochemically merged jacket and core resist splitting apart throughout terminal penetration. This round’s tough bullet even retains the vast majority of its weight after having smashed through auto glass, ensuring it can always inflict a deep wound cavity within its final target. and since people ten to carry in daily life, which means traveling by car alot! or say a great motorcycle gun for those road ragers.... i can se carrying a mag of 20+ of these speer rounds.

    • @geronimo5537
      @geronimo5537 5 місяців тому +1

      I like the 5.7 spears. But the FN LF rounds are better in my opinion for any cqb need. They pen, punch, and tumble making them ideal. The key to a good 5.7 round is reaching that 2k fps threshold. The round just performs near-ish to 5.56 levels at that pressure. There are other companies putting out custom 5.7 loads pushing 2.5k and those hit like a hammer to.
      I have leo training and have personally daily carried a 5.7 for over a decade. Great round that has finally gained some traction in the last few years. A half 5.56 caliber or pocket rifle as I call it.

      His early tests on log cabins are excellent. Very very gold, but great. In fact that's how I found his channel, I keep seeing Cowboy movies where the rancher fights the baddies from his doorstep and anyone inside (e.g. the wimmens) the bullets fly through as if the wood was made of polystyrene. So I wondered if anyone had tested out just how much shielding planks and logs gave. Turns out for the oldey timey cabins they stop everything (available at the time) except the largest of elephant guns.

    The strength of the 5.7 lies in it's mag capacity, and ability to defeat soft armor...That is what it was designed for.

    • @NickFrom1228
      @NickFrom1228 3 роки тому +10

      Plus the ease of shooting due to limited recoil and minimal muzzle bounce as well as its an accurate flat shooter. Its downsides are cost, though thats not nearly as much an issue any more, ammo availability, muzzle flash, size and its damn loud. I don't really consider its pros or cons to be that much of a limitation or great draw. Its a good round in general and a great round if body armor or longer range is important to you.

      The 5.7x28 ammo that I carry makes more energy than 9mm, so it can also be reasonably powerful.

    • @aaronwilcott4561

      @@NickFrom1228 Well cost and availability are dependent on location still.I shop around alot and haven't seen 5.7x28mm anywhere in 4 months.A couple internet sites have it at $99.00 a box for 50 rounds.....thats insane!I've had the Ruger 57 for 7 months now and it's a fun gun to shoot.I refuse to shoot the ammo I have until I can even replace it.Hard times were in unfortunately.
