i made something like this when i was an apprentice. but mine actually allows the connection of ANY mig to feed the wire. so if you have a mig and a tig you can hook it up and off you go. works with steel wire, aluminium wire, stainless wire so basically if it can go in a mig on a roll it can be used with my set up. Ive been uning it for years and years. i also have invented a torch that allows you to use it in conjunction with my feeder and get places that a torch wouldnt fit if you had to hold it. might make a video some day and post it up.

i think mine cost me about 600AUD to build the prototype. most of the parts were from busted equiptment. but 3k for this is a deadset rip off.

When you can get the cost WAYYYYYYYYY below 3k, Then we can talk. But our waste rate vs the time it would take before this product would make save us money (after having to pay it off and maintain it) is just too long. Great Idea but profit margin takes too long.

Use a MiG wire head for a feeder. I have been doing this for over 10 years at my job. I have a MIG welder in my area and when I do this I disconnect the power and just use wire drive. Problem with this is I have to use the whole Tweco gun in my left hand so I string it up in the air. With it strung up hanging down at my bench it works pretty good. Other problem is I have to run super slow ( like point 5 ) and range is super super short ( like move the dial one tenth of a degree) but still does the job of feeding .35 wire for 20 inch welds

Maintenance guy at shop tried to make old MiG welder drive work for me. Had problems making it go so slow. He kept trying to make it slow electrically I told him make the motor have a pulley on it so he could gear it down and have better range adjustment. It had a nice small liner with a button. It worked for one day. Been using the Miller MiG head ever since.
How much does Miller MiG head cost? Certainly not 3 g
