  • I just received the FREE item from CK Worldwide, the EZ Dabr. This device is a tool to help assist learning how to feed filler wire when Tig welding.
    In this video I show using EZ Dabr for the first time and my honest opinion regarding this tool.

    Thanks for giving our ez dabr a nice review. Just for everyone's info, the little spring like part of the ez dabr is meant to be bent to conform to the way each individual wants to use it so it is very easy to feed. Also, lots of folks use their hand and fingers together to feed the wire. Nice job Chuck. We are catching up on the deliveries by the way. Art Kleppen

      It’s too fragile for that small weld. I almost snapped off following your instruction. I don’t recommend this idea. Don’t bend it unless you’re very very careful.

    Thanks for the great video. I tried welding oxy/acetylene with the Henrob torch years ago and it looked like a second grader had welded. My wife laughed and told me I needed glasses. I went to Wally world and bought some cheaters and tried it again. It almost looked like I was a real welder after that. I'm 65 yrs old now and I keep a 2.5 cheaters lens in my hood for all welding, oxy/ fuel, stick, mig, and tig. And I have never been very good at feeding the rod either. I'm going to try the EZ Dabr also. Thanks for the video. Dan

      60 years worn out here, and have been using cheaters forever it seems like! Now if CKW could make something to keep my ancient shaky hands from sticking the tungsten in the puddle, I might have a fighting chance! Ha! I received my EZ DABR today, and it feels like a well made piece! Haven’t had a chance to use it, but I’m sure it will help!

    Just got mine today! Can't wait to give a try tomorrow.
    I put a 1.5 diopter cheater lens in both of my helmets about 10 years ago and my welds improved instantly!!
    Can see tight seams, even on shade 11or 12.
    Got mine for under $10 at my local welding supply shop

    One thing I didn't like about it is that the flat on the ends of the filler rod don't fit in the ez dabr collet, so you need to snip them off.

    • @joell439
      @joell439 3 роки тому

      how about using the flat end first. won't that work? 🤪

    • @TraditionalToolworks
      @TraditionalToolworks 3 роки тому

      @@joell439 There's a flat on each end of the filler, for *MOST* filler rod. Some don't have any, depends on the brand and size of filler, it may have to do with size. I have some .045" that is not flat stamped, not sure if that's because of the filler size or not, but I have some 1/16" Tensileweld (Washington Alloy) that is not flat stamped either. Other 1/16" ER70S-2 I have is. I mentioned this to CK Worldwide about a month ago, but was told that nobody else had reported that. If you run a 3/32" filler through a 1/8" collet you don't see this issue, but the filler is a bit loose in the collet.

    • @joell439
      @joell439 3 роки тому

      TraditionalToolworks - Thanks so much for the additional details and clarification. Shows you all I don’t know squat about welding. 😊 I really appreciate all that people share so I can learn something. All the filler I have either has the flat on only one end, or not at all. Maybe a cut in the middle and the use the flat ends first??

    • @TraditionalToolworks
      @TraditionalToolworks 3 роки тому

      @@joell439 Yes, cutting it in the middle would work, but smaller rod length. Don't get me wrong, the EZ Dabr is a very useful tool for a lot of people, and it's free, so hat's off to CK Worldwide. As ArtK said in a podcast a while back, he just wanted to give something back to the community. I'm a loyal CK Worldwide product user myself. I only use their torches, but I don't weld for a living either, and only own 4 torches.

      I normally cut rods in half, 20" rods are much easier to handle, especially with dodgy hands like mine. I just got mine, looking forward to giving it a whirl!

    How long you been tig welding? U only say you can't feed the wire because you doubt yourself for what ever reason. Nevertheless, I see nothing wrong with using n aid such as the dabr. I got one ordered. Lastly, yes get more helmet time and review folks like Jody and fabrication welding (Dustin) and just have fun but be serious and truly focus when you get time n you'll be just fine. We get upset quickly when we ain't used to things. It's ok. Pray n ask for help. I don't care how young or old you are. You obviously like welding so don't waste time on bad habits. Alternate between using dabr and hand to feed wire. You'll get it.

    I am old and good lighting is vital to see where I am welding. I modified an old quartz work lamp that utilized a single rectangular housing with a quartz halogen lamp mounted on a tripod (similar to this with only one lamp: www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200695137_200695137 ). I gutted the interior and mounted a pair of COB LEDs onto a piece of aluminum sheet (.050"thick) and screwed it into the housing, soldered on the AC leads from the switch to the COBs not necessarily in this order. The intensity of the light allows me to see everything. Here are the LED COB lights I used: www.banggood.com/LUSTREON-AC110V-or-220V-20W-30W-50W-White-or-Warm-White-COB-LED-Chip-40X60mm-for-DIY-Flood-Light-p-1174281.html?cur_warehouse=CN&ID=3837510956515305&rmmds=search ). The original halogen tubes get extremely HOT! The COB LEDs run cool. I did not reuse the original shiny aluminum reflector. Instead, I painted the interior of the lamp housing a gloss white. There are untold ways to do this as the COB LEDs can be mounted just about anywhere.
