Best honest UA-cam detailer, I trust your videos because I tried on my care and always true result learned so much from you and you never try to sell products always your honest opinion thank you for great videos
You’re my go too person for anything detailing! My wash routine is all Bilt Hamber, all because of your recommendation of their products! They just work so well and are safe as anything on bodywork!
John = my detailing guru hero. Thank you for everything you do, keep her lit, your testing and demos save us all a lot of trouble and effort. I greatly appreciate your honest and unbiased analysis and recommendations.
Dumped snow foam and went over to Surfex HD years ago. Works way better but was concerned about causing degradation. Nice to know it won’t damage my new Ceramic coating. I can rest easy, great work 👍
I love the fact that you made this video, I knew since applying surfex that it would not strip the ceramic it would actually allow the ceramic to work even better. Spot on Jon =)
John, your videos and tests are always honest, high quality and consistently offer neutrality! Your integrity has never fallen by the wayside and the evidence is in how many people follow you! There will always the people who see things differently but you have always sought discussion and feedback and we thank you for it. Future sponsored (paid for) product reviews are exactly that but knowing your integrity you would make that clear from the start! Your independent non biased input is such a high valued need, mixed with your learned experience, it’s what we are all looking for! Keep it going John, more of it I say! 👍😊
even When John starts doing "paid for reviews" i Know they are going to be Straight up As it is,, if its a Good/brilliant product or one that doesnt do what it says on the tin, i Can see a product being reviewd, fed back to teh manufs and a "mk2-FD" version happening :D
This is why Jon has the absolute best channel for detailing! He takes a comment that he believes is faults and then proves them completely wrong without insulting them or even being remotely mean. You want facts, thats how you prove a statement incorrect. This is why I always come to this channel. Im sick of hearing all these other channels tell me this cleans better than that , or this is more slick than that ( though there are some other good channels). I dont want opinions, I want results and thats why I come to Jon. Yes Bilt Hamber probably sends Jon a private jet once in awhile to go to Hamber Island 😉. But he proves with results why Bilt Hamber is one of the best detailing companies in the market. His goofy personality and I love when he neards out on a product, is why this is my favorite channel by far! 🏆 From across the pond cheers mate!
Not at all, all coatings have a pH range they can handle. If a pH is higher or lower then what the costing can handle, it will deteriorate it quickly with frequent use.
I've been back and forth with the whole ceramic coating thing. For the weekend warrior, that I am, I can't justify the cost to pay someone to do it. At the same time, I don't have a garage for my car and alloy wheels to cure in properly. Then there's the high cost of the products themselves and adjustments needed to the wash process. There's definitely a place for ceramics on sports cars and luxury cars with people that can afford it but it's quite demanding for a casual commoner like myself to realistically buy into it. I stick with long term durable paste waxes tbh.
John I don’t care what other people think it’s the likes of you that help hobbyists and semiprofessional to get an all round idea of what products do and how to use them
Spot-on content and such a great delivery. Don't take any crap sir, you should have 100x the subs. Enjoying you from the midwestern part of the US, just north of Chicago.
A large percentage of these folk on Detailing World are weekend warriors and fanboys lol Hence their opinion is null and void before they even spread their butt mustard onto the internet lol 😂
I just drew the conclusion on the main channel item that if you remove the coating with a detergent, you didn't apply it properly... and I absolutely agree!! Top work Jon.
Hi John. Cracking video as always and just confirms what a brilliant product Surfex HD is. I use it in many ways including a small amount alongside auto foam in my snow foam lance.... Makes a massive difference to the pre-wash. Ignore those who will deliberately and ignorantly try to put you down and doubt the effort you clearly put in for all of our benefits. I for one have learnt so much from you in the last year.... Products, DA polishing tips, etc, etc, etc. I watch all of your videos with great interest and find them informative and above all.... I find they are made with passion stemming from a genuine urge to pass on your knowledge to us detailing diyers. Keep the videos coming mate and who cares about negative imbeciles who are maybe a bit envious of the large and deserved following you now have on this channel 😁
Hi john , I think you should let the sponsors on your channel ,it would definitely grow your channel and your UA-cam as a business . I cant believe you have just over 10k subs I thought you had 100k ! The content is unreal not made up . I've bought several bilt humber products after your recommendation that all work and good value for money Keep up the good work !
its coming andre. 5 years of not allowing it but still getting told you are being payed.. well might as well just take some sponsorship on from brands I like. like you say try and help grow the channel and make some money.
Among the best detailing channels out there, this coming from a professional detailer! I don't agree with many detailing channels hence the option of changing channels instead of bitchin. Detailed many show winning rigs even exhibited on shell rotellas calendar. Ignore the haters john half the of them are just keyboard detailers keep up the good work.
Keep it up John all your videos inspired us to start up all our product knowledge and decisions are based on what we learned from you. Your channel is pure gold! I’d really love to meet up one day soon and have a detailing play if you’d be up for that!
Jon, Just watched your update and was shocked to hear the negative response you had. It was clear from your reaction that whoever it was rattled your cage slightly, which is totally understandable. Unfortunately there are always certain individuals that need to behave in this way, but take comfort in the fact that whoever it was , clearly realised the error of their ways and deleted the post. I use products based on your comparisons and make my own mind up from that. On occasions I have bought stuff based on what I have watched on FDC and it doesn’t work for me. But unless you try you don’t know. It’s my choice and that’s it, I just use/ try another product for that particular stage. Keep doing what you are doing Jon you have more fans than enemies
thanks peter, I have no problem with people having issues with a product and discussing this, thats healthy. But its never nice when someone is telling lies about you and a company. the person doing this has the benefit of anonymity, I dont have that benefit and I have to suffer the consequences of being slandered and so do the company. Im big enough and ugly enough to shrug that off, and I get it everyday. But I dont like seeing people doing it to a company because that threatens and undermines their business.
@@forensicunplugged4295 yeah I guess you do have to be thick skinned to have a channel on here. Anyway BH products are pretty much used by most detailers , especially the autofoam 😁
Hi Jon, great work as usual and I'm with you on the "respectful" dialogue. It's ok for others to have a difference of opinion but it shouldn't descend into insulting someone. Keeping it respectful is the proper way to do it, especially here, where as a youtuber, you take the time to make these videos for our benefit. Also on the point of the HD Strip. I'm no chemist but if ceramic coatings were such that something as simple as Surfex could strip it back then this would render ceramic coatings as useless and people would go back to polymer sealants instead because they are so much cheaper. The molecular structure and chemical composition of ceramics and I dare say graphene based coatings is that they are designed to resist most chemicals you throw at them. This is what these coatings are all about in the first place.
Your videos are excellent my brother, please keep doing what your doing. Everyone does the same thing differently, everyone will have an opinion. Helpful, hurtful, ignorant, praising or thankful. That's what makes us "Individuals". Unfortunately some people can be real fools and not really get or understand the subject. Very helpful video, I am sorry this is so late. Have a blessed day my brother.
Yassss Jon, you tell him! 🤜🏻🤧 Great video again Jon, it's these weird and wonderful things that pop in to our heads during the day whilst we're killing time and u manages to answer those brainbug questions with proof, top notch mate 😎👍🏻🏴
Again great great video sir. You can test if you like, meguiars wash plus, it can strip very entry level famus ceramics if they are some months old, because of its polishing agents inside . Again congratulations sir.
As trying to start you tubing myself, you did very well keeping it live for 30 mins! Easy editing too I suppose so big ups for that. On the side note, i use bilt hamber since starting watching your channel and it's awesome to see these tests, it builds so much more confidence for using the products you test and not afraid to use them then on peoples cars!
Welcome to the fun and games :) I just watched your automated car wash V detailer wash video. Your B-roll game is ahead of mine after one video. Very nice editing and well constructed video. Best of luck with it, keep going never stop, takes a continued amount of persistence to get there when you first start. Set targets and smash them. Try and be yourself. I will share the video on the facebook page I hope it helps get the ball rolling on your cool journey.
Thanks so much for that Jon, really appreciate the help in sharing, hopefully be able to keep going with content, tough but once you get into it it's great fun!!! Thanks mate 👌🏻
Keep going John, glad to see some practical testing instead of simply making broad statements and no facts to back it.. I have been saying for years the PH neutral band wagon was snake oil, all be it that they still have a function in simply cleaning, just no stripping BS. BH snow foam is definitely one of the better ones to remove UK traffic film with agitation ... I note some state side don’t believe our traffic film is one of the worst... salt, diesel, dust and dirt mixed in with the magic ingredient cow shit! If UK road film was a sellable product 3m would love to sell it for all its extreme, class leading quality’s 👍
That definitely made no sense of Bilt Hamber Surfex HD or even SuperClean or any APC removing Ceramic coatings. Even using Bilt Hamber Korrosol doesn't remove it, that's what Ceramic coatings are for; resistant to lots of stuff outside that affects clear coating on it's own. Ceramic coating will degrade over time and still has to be removed with compound and polish, as far as I know.
You can tell every video is well thought out, done with a great level of knowledge and passion. I get loads out of them. Thanks Jon and keep up the good work
John, I value your opinions, videos and advice. I find your channels informative and interesting. There will always be naysayers who know better. Keep up the advice, it's then up to them to take it or leave it.
Also I do a contact wash during the week by using AF citrus with BH snowfoam on top.. left to dwell for few mins and jet wash off.. car is 99% clean again without touching with a cloth or mitt..👍👍👍
Like you said before a surfactant won't breakdown a ceramic infused resin. Bilt hamber products rock I think trending and branding play a part in popularity in most cases when people chose what to put on their garage shelves.
Surfex HD is an epic product. I use it a lot. Even used to clean an oven last weekend. I use 1/10 as a pre wash or even spray vehicle and the use snow foam on top. I've never known it to strip ceramic coatings. Keep up the work and ignore the ononists that insult you love and peace x
Gives me the confidence to use this if needed on my coated cars. Thanks. Will be a good test as to how well my detailer applied coating on one car compares to my DIY stuff on the others. Coatings are working well, so no need to use an APC so far.
I know this is a old video now but I’ve found similar recently on my ceramic coated car, the bottom half of the car I used a strong ratio citrus prewash and it actually looks better, as you said because it’s a deeper clean it exposes the coating better
Well said and demonstrated, brilliant unbiased, truthfully reported, thank you for your guidance and knowledge. Please will you do a glass scratch rear window improvement, polish / grind job caused by a commonly occurring, bike carrier frame? Keep up the good reviews .
you wont be able to remove properly light scratches peter the glass is too hard, you can something get minor improvement with light scratches with ceriglass and rayon pads.
Amused me this one Jon and kudos for the 'you looking at me taxi-driver' approach, that was ace. 😂 For reference, the person I asked to butt out in the comments of the other video was asked to do so following personal attacks/accusations via personal messages on DW; I'm not putting up with that so he got told. This was nothing to do with you or your channel. We can agree to disagree with your 5% testing method, and that's healthy, but I would fight for your right to do as you wish. It's your channel, your train set. I enjoy all your videos whether or not I agree with your line of approach on the odd video. 👍🏻 p.s. I still prefer Spritzer. 😉
Great vid as always. You and cca at my favourite detailing channels. Hope you do pick up some good promo deals. No one should judge how a creator puts food on the table as long as they’re open and honest with their audience about it.
Awesome video John - love the ‘one shootout’ style. Interesting to see Surfex neat not stripping a thing, maybe a bit counter intuitive. I guess ceramic coats are exactly designed to resist detergents. I use KC Greenstar at 10:1 to clean back ceramic coated alloys and have not saw it have a drop of degradation effect and always reveals back the coating a treat 👍
Thank you for all the Vids, I’ve subscribed! I’m new to Surfex HD, so can I confirm I can use a 10% dilution as a TFR prior to snow foaming and it won’t remove or degrade my paste wax finish? Also is this dilution safe on my wheels and brake discs/pads? Thanks again, I’m trying to use one product for most things instead of having 20 different bottles of product! Keep up the good work!
John what coating , sealant and wax did you use ? If he thinks Surfex HD will strip ceramic coating it must be a crappy coating for chemical resistance. Another very good conversation on detailing products. Thanks for creating the interchange John. 👍😊
Fantastic video Jon... as always.. please keep up the good work.. I personally use you as my bible when reviewing products... I also love bilt hamber.. thanks to yourself..
Oh Jon, you are aware of the keyboard warrior rules... six minutes would have destroyed the coatings!!!!!!! Joking aside your video has made me understand the role products of this time have and play in detailing. Great video.
This content is just gold. I am astonished by the amount of blind passion or idiocracy some people are are buying into for some marketing claims. I think some people can't let their ego down because that would mean denying a process that they followed for such a long time... So, wouldn't the world be a happier place with reviewers telling only nice and non-polarizing things /s
Jon, thanks for your clear message here and I mean that. I for one definitely understand your position. Just a question then on a "reset" for want of a better word of the surface of both a waxed and ceramic coated car. Ok the thing is I want to be sure I have removed all the wax on a car because I want to coat it with a ceramic or just another good wax but starting from "0". So any tips there? I know there are shampoos but can Surfex HD do it? The second one is I want to ensure I have cleaned the "ceramic pores" on a coated car so I can lay down a Carpro Essence Plus coat, what will do in terms of % of Surfex HD in that case? I am used of 10%. Any advice?
Hmm really interesting video. I'm trying to understand why even when I use seal and shine by TW on my alloys, that the coating doesn't last that long when I clean the alloys with Surfex HD at 10% or even 5%.
Couldn't agree more with you Jon. Ignore the numptys that don't know how to have a civilised debate. As for this video, brilliant again & only further embarrassing these idiots that open their mouth & talk rubbish without thinking 👍
3 gallons of Shut-Up-Juice served in an ice cold crystal jerry can :) nice one Jon :) Keep up the good work sir. maybe the chap in the comments can provide some proof of a repeatable testing procedure that proves his outlandish staements?
10ml of surfex and 90ml of water is exactly 1 to 9 which is 11.11% :D. Good video BTW. Surfex HD will not strip any coating if it is properly installed.
Very informative. Should one treat the stripping of ceramic coatings in general the same way we get rid of old waxes, to use the mow down method by using abrasive compounds and polishes to slowly machine polish off the ceramic coating if we want a fresh clean virgin paint surface? What do you suggest?
to remove a ceramic you need to machine polish it off. but its very hard to gauge if the coating is removed because the polishing creates a hydrophobic effect. polishing off old coatings is a pain really.
@@forensicunplugged4295 , thanks, yes I'm struggling to get off the coating currently, still leaves some hazing and holograms. Seems like I have to strip wash again, clay bar cleanse, IPA , and then have another go at polishing off . I miss using my normal waxes....
BH are one of the top detailing product maker and their stuff works and value for money as they can be diluted as per the requirement..Jon got me hooked to BH product line-up and may be some other viewers and I thank him for that .
Always wanted to ask about these latest videos content so good job there John! I recently got on to BH autofoam and always wondered about this vs normal snowfoam 👍 Also never really heard what ratio Surfex should be used on panels if used as a pre-wash (on wax & sealants) atm I’m using at 3% though when doing any brushwork as foam dissolves.
double the fun mike! its a potatoe cam, rough, no frills, dumping ground, backup, behind the scenes, informal thing. But it also allows me to try different approaches and rehash things in an alternative way.... theres lots of little reasons.
What's the ceramic coating used? I've seen ceramic coatings degraded by strong degreaser, but depends on the degreaser and ceramic coating. The fact that it didn't fail after Wonder wheels is bind blowing. Usually ceramic coatings have a range between PH 3-13, I expect Wonder wheels to be slightly below the lower end of this range..
why dont they just sell stuff at auto parts stores or wherever on the same shelf with the auto care products to avoid the run around or figuring out what to use to remove it
"The only two people who can delete posts are me and the person who wrote it". Apart from UA-cam moderators, who can, and do, delete posts if reported. Also, the algorithms regularly remove posts/replies - even the most tepid, mundane, non-offensive stuff
Another enjoyable video. I’m definitely thinking this is product dependant, plus I’m going to figure out why some products in my testing (not just the video) shows rapid degradation from Autofoam at 4%. BSD is particularly striking and that doesn’t necessarily need a great prep, but does the same even when it has. Respectful conversation is the only way to understand each other’s points, and I fully endorse everyone doing their own testing. The variables that we can understand, the more knowledge we all have.
Your my No1 choice for detailing advice no matter what others say . Keep up the good work mate👍
glad you realized this too....
Dude keep doing what your doing. Your content is great and very enlightening and thought provoking
You took the words right out of my mouth!

You’re my go too person for anything detailing! My wash routine is all Bilt Hamber, all because of your recommendation of their products! They just work so well and are safe as anything on bodywork!

Forget the haters JOHN, LONG YOU SHALL LIVE!
Keep up the good reviews
.
you wont be able to remove properly light scratches peter the glass is too hard, you can something get minor improvement with light scratches with ceriglass and rayon pads.
Another super helpful video. Top bloke your videos are so factual and always give a decisive opinion
Amused me this one Jon and kudos for the 'you looking at me taxi-driver' approach, that was ace. 😂
For reference, the person I asked to butt out in the comments of the other video was asked to do so following personal attacks/accusations via personal messages on DW; I'm not putting up with that so he got told. This was nothing to do with you or your channel.
We can agree to disagree with your 5% testing method, and that's healthy, but I would fight for your right to do as you wish. It's your channel, your train set.
I enjoy all your videos whether or not I agree with your line of approach on the odd video. 👍🏻
p.s. I still prefer Spritzer. 😉
please just try and be nice imagine your chatting to a good friend when you make a point. you can effect the quality of the discussions being had.
@@forensicunplugged4295 sure thing.
Loving your work as always. Keep entertaining and educating us. Cheers.
Great simulation and findings Jon. 👍🏼👊🏻
Great vid as always. You and cca at my favourite detailing channels. Hope you do pick up some good promo deals. No one should judge how a creator puts food on the table as long as they’re open and honest with their audience about it.
Always good to see your fact based reviews vs someone’s opinion Jon. No added hanky panky either 😜😜😜
I don't see this series of videos ending until you're in hazmat suit, pouring hot NaOH on the panel
I always look forward to seeing your videos, and you look better after a shave 😜
great video john
Awesome video John - love the ‘one shootout’ style. Interesting to see Surfex neat not stripping a thing, maybe a bit counter intuitive. I guess ceramic coats are exactly designed to resist detergents.
I use KC Greenstar at 10:1 to clean back ceramic coated alloys and have not saw it have a drop of degradation effect and always reveals back the coating a treat 👍
love a bit of greenstar.
Keep up the good work from your fans 🇺🇸
Thank you for all the Vids, I’ve subscribed! I’m new to Surfex HD, so can I confirm I can use a 10% dilution as a TFR prior to snow foaming and it won’t remove or degrade my paste wax finish? Also is this dilution safe on my wheels and brake discs/pads?
Thanks again, I’m trying to use one product for most things instead of having 20 different bottles of product!
Keep up the good work!
That’s a great test and very interesting, thank you!
Great video Jon 👍🏻😄
Am I the only one hoping he was gonna say "that's Bilt hamber on the phone" when the phone went off lmao
Hi Jon great content as always what was the actual ceramic coating you were testing against.
nice to hear well presented information
The intro to this video sums up the unfortunate world of detailing. Keep on doing what you do pal
Oh Jon, you are aware of the keyboard warrior rules... six minutes would have destroyed the coatings!!!!!!!
Joking aside your video has made me understand the role products of this time have and play in detailing. Great video.
Hi Jon, may I know is surfex hd affects sealant or wax? At which dilution percentage is safe on wax?
Any advice?
Jon... would autofinesse Iron out strip ceramic coating or wax if used for as annual decontaminate ?? I have Gyeon 3 year ceramic applied.
Brian, I could not agree more.
Pleased to hear he made ref to DW as well 👍.
Just goes to show, another test showing how good BH products are.
3 gallons of Shut-Up-Juice served in an ice cold crystal jerry can :) nice one Jon :) Keep up the good work sir. maybe the chap in the comments can provide some proof of a repeatable testing procedure that proves his outlandish staements?
hi, I have Merc E250 with soft top , please advice me how to clean ,protect and which product to use. thanks in advance
Have you ever done a torture test using bilt hamber wash products to see which one effects waxes and sealants more ?
10ml of surfex and 90ml of water is exactly 1 to 9 which is 11.11% :D. Good video BTW. Surfex HD will not strip any coating if it is properly installed.
That's a 10% mix bud.
100ml total product, with 10ml of it being Surfex HD is a mix of Surfex HD at 10%.
The 1 to 10 mix that people refer to as 10% is 1 to 9 because the percentage is the total sum of both parts of product added together.
What do you think of valet pro I don't think it cleans as good I use this on my alloys it don't clean them so good I think I'm due for a change
Another great video! Well done. By the way, what is the difference between this channel and the other channel, forensic detailing?
mainly the potato cam production
Greatly informative!
BH are one of the top detailing product maker and their stuff works and value for money as they can be diluted as per the requirement..Jon got me hooked to BH product line-up and may be some other viewers and I thank him for that .
I just wanna know what sealant was applied on yesterday’s video hope it wasn’t fusso lol
Megs Ultimate Wax
ultimate liquid wax yer, I really like it but not for its durability it goes on like a peach though.
BH suggest 3-5% on painwork. And 5-10% on wheels.
I use it premixed at 5% in a 5 litre pump sprayer.
Why the two channels? Love the content.
double the fun mike! its a potatoe cam, rough, no frills, dumping ground, backup, behind the scenes, informal thing. But it also allows me to try different approaches and rehash things in an alternative way.... theres lots of little reasons.
Good deal. Thanks for the reply. I’ll be subscribed
What's the ceramic coating used? I've seen ceramic coatings degraded by strong degreaser, but depends on the degreaser and ceramic coating. The fact that it didn't fail after Wonder wheels is bind blowing. Usually ceramic coatings have a range between PH 3-13, I expect Wonder wheels to be slightly below the lower end of this range..
its a wax is dead 24 month coating.
@@forensicunplugged4295 Thanks! Seems like strong stuff 💪
why dont they just sell stuff at auto parts stores or wherever on the same shelf with the auto care products to avoid the run around or figuring out what to use to remove it
Would the durability degradation have been more noticeable if a microfibre wash mitt was used? Or is it purely a snow foam scenario contactless wash?
in the test we did today as long as we used a clean microfiber mitt it and put enough solution on to saturate the panel I dont think it would matter.
Surfex HD is very impressive
I found out recently that Bilt Hamber are based 5 mins down the road from me lol!!! Still can’t get my hands on surfex HD ffs 😩😭
Try county detailing mate
@@jamesbartlett5005 will check them out. Thanks mate
I would like to have the carpro Lift test against blit hamber
"The only two people who can delete posts are me and the person who wrote it". Apart from UA-cam moderators, who can, and do, delete posts if reported. Also, the algorithms regularly remove posts/replies - even the most tepid, mundane, non-offensive stuff
No wonders there , its all chemistry 👍🏻
Another enjoyable video. I’m definitely thinking this is product dependant, plus I’m going to figure out why some products in my testing (not just the video) shows rapid degradation from Autofoam at 4%. BSD is particularly striking and that doesn’t necessarily need a great prep, but does the same even when it has.
Respectful conversation is the only way to understand each other’s points, and I fully endorse everyone doing their own testing. The variables that we can understand, the more knowledge we all have.
cheers rosco its a journey some LSP for sure can degrade quickly.
@@forensicunplugged4295 and some last for so long it gets boring!
Will it strip fusso coat?
What Ceramic coating have you used on that Panel?
