The "EKWB implosion" situation broke a bit late to be included in this week's show, but Gamers Nexus did a bang up job covering it -- you've probably already seen it but here's the link just in case. ua-cam.com/video/b73xG1HlFhY/v-deo.html
I don't need AI. My IQ ranges from 121-158 depending on the test, I am smarter than the programmers. Also, AI will only know what's on the internet....NOT EVERYTHING IS ON THE FREAKING INTERNET!
Thanks, Paul. You, Steve and all the fine people working with you are not only keeping the industry "honest" (honest here being a direction more than a state...) but all of us informed. The AI ad profiling skullduggery being particularly poignant...
Perhaps there will also be more to cover for next week’s show.
As usual , trying to steal the thunder from GN ...
@@DrNoBrazil then Paul should have covered it in this video without mentioning GN. Now he literally gives the thunder to GN by only providing their video on the matter lol.
Q: Is 5090 the model or the price?
A: Yes.
Best Comment!
5090 gonna be close to 2k price
Good one
I'm gonna take it even if it costs $50.90.

Nvidia bad..REEEEEES
Thats the trick, you never start
5090
Oh gee...8GB again for the low variants and just 12 GB for the mid....that´s so predictably pathetic
Nvidia just pulling a 2010s intel - xeon is somewhat useable but consumers eat dirt, 4 cores for 10+ years. How quickly it changed when AMD put Intel in its place. Nvidia does that because there's 0 competition, and they're unironically evil.
@@Josh_728. If we look at this for gaming, more than 4 cores wasn’t needed for most of that 7 years. This said, The 50 series can be fine at 8-12gb, 60 at 16, 70 @ 16+
@@Josh_728 "zero competition" nvidia is slower at every single price bracket for every product they sell except the 4090. You can get a 7900xtx for 900$ which is still around 100-200$ cheaper than a 4080 it competes with and within 100 of the 4070 ti super. The 7900xt is 700$ while being slightly faster than a 4070ti super, the 7800xt and 7900gre are extremely competitive in the 500$ bracket and the 7700xt at 400$ absolutely stomps the 4060ti. Oh, and, before you mention power, the 6000 cards were way more efficient than the 30 series and basically nobody talked about power last gen, an extra 50w at load hardly matters.
Lol 8gb of ram so ridiculous.
Nvidia doesn't understand how demanding new games are or how demanding newer games want to be.

Gotta pump out those GPUs while people are still willing to pay used-car prices for computer components!
Yep that really puts it into perspective a car with 10,000 parts and several ton of steal and plastic. Or I piece of silicon and a heat sink and fans. If this is the future of tech were the faster the tech is the higher the price then the tech boom is truly over.
Such a true statement. I for one am not.
@@justindressler5992 Well, it think it more related to this thing call added value, sometimes things have certain prices not for the material and even the utility they have but because are perceived by the market as something valuable regarless of its properties, this is why an ornament of shiny rocks can cost more than a sports car, I would say that in the case of tech both utility and perceive value tend to coincide however for how long will it be the case? what will happen when everything is so advance that even your calculator can run a complete high fidelity VR simulation? maybe then this things will be dirty cheap while the ornament of shiny rocks could still be very expensive, these are the wonders of civilization where a piece of paper can have more value than a piece of gold of the same weight (I'm talking about currency).
@@animeturnMMD Thankfully the steady, rapid decline of AAA game quality is proving that the perceived market value of GPUs far exceeds the experience the games actually provide, and will hopefully result in resetting the value to more appropriate levels. A.I. may be a thorn in this side, though.
And the 50 series will also be double the price of the 40 series huh! LoL I miss the days of the top tier gpu's were $500-600! LoL
I assume your misspelling of tier was intentional since that's the kind many will be making once their bank account is near empty after making this purchase.

5090, only $4000!
It will be around 2000. Probably 1000ish for 5080 and 2000ish for 5090 and twice as many cores as 5080.
4000? Coincidentally, that's the wattage power supply needed as well.
Sounds good to me
For once, NVIDIA marketing won't be lying when they say "200% increase over last gen"
Nah it will be 5090$ 1 dollars per number
It's not even real AI and I'm already tired of it.
oh its definitely real AI, and i think we are all tired of it. Thats like saying a baby saying its first words isnt a real human. Yes, yes it certainly is real its just very rudimentary. An acorn tree started with a very forgettable, lowly acorn.
It's not about A.I. it's about money.
@@absolutelysobeastit's not true ai it's just code and data mining, basically just a huge look up tables.
@@RadarLeon AI is a very loosely defined term that can be applied to a lot of programs though. If you think "true AI" is AI that can be trained, then you're probably thinking of machine learning (ML) instead.
@@RadarLeon and what exactly is a human brain? Or a dogs brain? Is it not a series of tables and data that can be referenced and trained over time to accomplish any number of tasks? according to that wccftech screenshot nvidia is still planning to release 5000-series models with just 8gb? really? are they trying to pull that "1080p-gaming" bullshit again?
8gb is ok for a budget level gpu. You won’t get max settings in every game, but you will get decent framerate.
its not even ok for 1080p in more and more games
I can still play 1440p high on all my games on my 2080 laptop. Not being able to play 1080p is a symptom the game is complete dog shit. I can play resident evil 4 remake just fine. I can play dead space remake just fine. Hogwarfs legac, took a week but I can play it just fine. Suicide squad? I ain't buying that pos to figure it out. If you're locked out of shitty games by your gpu I honestly don't really know if the problem is your gpu there.
Though yes, obviously an xx60 gpu shouldn't be over 150 bucks and an xx80 gpu should cost 250 at most.

5080 will be almost as fast as 4090, but cost 1599
Big if true
Wasn't epecting the Fear and Hunger reference 14 seconds into the video but here we are.
That's immediately what I thought lol.
I guess I'll hold onto my EVGA GTX 1080 for abit longer lol.
by the time you realize you missed the upgrade boat it will be too late. Well actually it already is too late. The days of upgrading like you want to for the price you want to pay are over. You are missing out on more performance for what? Some principle of "I will not pay over x dollars for a card unless it has x performance."? Those days are never coming back and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can upgrade and enjoy a better experience. I mean if you have had your 1080 for 7 years and havent upgraded, you arent in the market for a 5090 anyway. The writing has been on the wall for 2 straight generations now and 5 years. If you havent accepted the new reality by now, you are deceiving yourself. Im telling you this because i used to be like you, but now i actually dont spend any more time and energy being mad about it. Bought a 4080, took shit from people for it, but have enjoyed the last 3000 hours i have played on it with no regrets. and i bought maybe the worst deal of a card in the last 5 years. 3000 hours for 1200 bucks, 30 cents an hour for entertainment. Find a better deal out there
@@absolutelysobeast used 3080's are going for a good price. So no. The upgrade boat is alive and well on ebay.
I'm glad evga did the right thing leaving nvidia. They really make great stuff.
@absolutelysobeast it is that mentality that has allowed NVIDIA to charge whatever they want. If people don't pay high prices then they would be forced to lower the price. That's why the 3000 series was priced lower because the 2000 series didn't sell as well as they wanted. Also, your example of hours of entertainment is flawed. You don't price in all the other components or the cost of games. If you only factor in the price of the component it can easily be beat. I bought a DVD player for $30 years ago and have over 5,000 hours of entertainment. So a DVD player is a much better deal for entertainment based on your logic.
At this rate I don't think you'll ever have to buy a new one, you'll have at least half a dozen generations of used cards to cheap out on.
A rush release means they are worried about competition. MI300 and MI300X which is heterogeneous... is absolutely insane! CPU / GPU / APU / FPGA / AI / shared memory all on one standard size threadripper package. That is nuts!

If it were me, I would have the new cards out by Thanksgiving, out in the stores to go buy.. so from Thanksgiving to Christmas, there would be a lot of cards purchased over the holidays..
I vaguely recall some article about how Blackwell was almost ready and so much more performant people speculated nvidia might skip Lovelace? But that might have been just the architecture itself instead of actual GPU chip implementations. Plus Lovelace was just about competitive enough to fill another generation of cards for the extra sales.
That corsair keyboard looked dope but at the end of the ad-read it reminds me why to stay tf away-- ICUE lmao.
It's nice to know CEO's of tech companies, played CP2077, and took inspiration from it, and all are vying for AI and control dominance.

The robot with the swivel joints is a Supervisor from Budget Cuts.
Paul, I think you're getting this all wrong. See, I would scrub my hard disks AFTER the drive was dismantled. Why? It's much easier to get that wire brush in all the nooks and crannies once the drive is taken apart. Can't do that while the drive is still in one piece and hiding inside the computer case.
Also, The same flaw exists for SSD's, since it doesn't take apart the circuit boards. But a 2011 Jetta TDI and a pair of jumper cables should take care of that pesky problem for you.
I waited and kept my 3090 glad I did, until the price / performance balance comes closer I’m not spending another 1500 on a card.
How I would use a 5090: just like I use my 4090. That's how?
It's: max UV, DLSS Quality, RT Off, FPS limit to 115 FPS on 120Hz LG OLED TV. Power consumption of 4090: 120-250 watts average!
When is the only case I'd like to have a 5090? Only when we can buy 65 inches LG OLED TVs with 240Hz! 😂
@@Serandi Do you currently use an LG OLED for PC gaming?
@@bricaaron3978 yes over 3 years now! It works just fine 👍
I do, until recently 4K@120hz+, was hard to find in a monitor; and i bought 3 48” OLEDs for about $2000… which at the time, the same money would have bought me a single 4k monitor under 30”
Holding on to my 3080 which, to be fair, is actually still enough for my needs (1440p @ 144Hz). Nvidia will not get any more money from me until prices drop. I'll be happy getting second hand cards, even if a generation back, until things change. Will they change, though? Probably not, but what else can we do than vote with our wallets.
How's the power connector on the 5090 going NVIDEA?
Hot!
you mean the gpu's wall socket port
well blackwell's selling point was like 2x less consumption for their AI launch, so might actually be pretty good on that front
nvidia will be targeting consumption more than anything because the bottleneck on ai hardware right now isn't compute power, but power consumption

I assume the 5080 performs exactly the same as the 4090D so Nvidia could sell it to Chinese customers, but with extra RT cores because the US government doesn't care about that
5080 doesn't have enough memory for AI.

I'd take a guess the day-to-day gaming performance is not changing much from 40 series to 50 series. Nvidia will be so focussed on optimising the AI performance, gamers will be an afterthought.
dude the 4090 is a way better value than the 4080 even if it actually costs more dollars. if you can get a 4090 for 1600 its a pretty good value. I have a 4080 i bought day one and i wish i would have waited another month and just gotten the 4090. 3000 hours on the card though so no regrets overall but im trying for a 5090 this time. if you try though and dont get one launch day you may find the prices have gone UP on the older cards because alot of people will be in the same position as you. For reference i went from a 1080ti to my 4080 and its been great. Depends on the games you play and your CPU and all of that. I upgraded from a ryzen 1700 to a 5800x3d and my 1 percent lows went up by like 50 percent, which made a MASSIVE difference in destiny at the time. obviously doubling your fps with a new GPU is awesome, but i only had a 144hz monitor and my CPU was a huge bottleneck.
Keep your eyes peeled for a 4080-4090 or AMD's higher end GPUs (if you're willing to fiddle with amd drivers).

I suspect I’ll keep rocking my 3080 12gb for quite awhile. No need for 5090/5080 at the silliest prices without any games to justify it by any stretch.
I only got the 10gb 3080 but recently upgraded to a 4k 240hz oled screen, I'll def need an upgrade due to low vram, but it's a hole I dug myself into, I thought I'd stay on 1440p for a decade lol

are there ways to get a 5090 at launch without overpaying too much? like 200-250 over MSRP max?
Best buy, but you'll need to buy them as soon as they come in stock.
This is one of the first launches in a while where I want one, but can wait. My 4090 does just fine at 4k and I still have a massive backlog of games to play that are 5 to 10 years old.
$2500?!!
more like $3500 I bet, and probably only 3-5 available at launch..
You think that's bad, wait until you hear about the fact that the 4090 now costs $2500 where I live currently.
You guys got it good in Hardware Land.
Sounds good to me
GB206 128bit 8gb. Oof, 5060 still gonna be 8gb in 2025?
Yup.
They can (and most likely will) give it 16GB like they did with the 4060Ti.

What is the best graphics card for AI now that can run stable diffusion?
Just think, people will go out and buy this and "upgrade" from their 4090 just to get an extra 100fps that they wont even notice KEKW
maybe YOU dont notice it, but that doesnt mean its not noticeable.
Why someone would think they need to upgrade from a 4090 they just bought makes no sense anyway. The gotta have it mentality keeps people in debt.
@@NotMorganFreeman. it's called hyper consumerism
The fact that Nvidia cards will still have these measly amounts of Vram is really weird and disappointing.
Why don't they just do:
90 class - 24gb
80 class - 20gb
70 class - 16gb
60 class - 12gb
Shouldn't be that hard to do.
Not hard. But more expensive. And they want to get MORE money from every card!
They could do that and still make money but they need to make ALL the money ;-)
Looks like rtx 4070ti super is better product than 5070/ti will be atleast when it comes to vram and 256 bit
@@igorthelight This is pennycutting at this point, memory is cheap, raise the price by 2 dollars and you are covered.
@@alexturnbackthearmy1907 Do you know the cost of GDDR7?
Most machine learning workloads (AI) is heavily limited by VRAM rather than raw compute. Nvidia purposely cut down on VRAM to make buying their more expensive or absurdly expensive cards (Workstation or Tesla cards) mandatory over buying multiples of the lower end cards. AMD doesn't really have much foothold in this space since their support in ROCm is really spotty for their consumer cards and ROCm itself is not as featureful as CUDA so there's not much competition for Nvidia.
It makes sense to launch the highest end products first because you are selling products not competing with your own products wrt performance. Prices can adjust accordingly...😊
As someone who went from a poor 9500 GT kid -> 9600 GT -> poor man (intel HD series iGPU) -> GTX 960M -> RTX 3080 -> RTX 4090, I'm starting to think of selling my RTX 4090. Prices are dropping slowly, and I could still get MSRP for the card, when I paid 25% over MSRP in the launch week. It all depends on how much more VRAM (if any) the 5090 has. If it doesn't have extra VRAM, then it's not worth much more for me
What? We do not get 4090 Ti Super at all with 2999$ price tag…
I don't understand why knowing the specs a quarter or two before launch is such a bad thing.
Maybe it gives competitors the ability to catch up or better compete. Maybe surpass their stuff
@@HanmaHeiro I doubt that AMD is sitting around doing nothing until they find out NVidia a 5% faster than they expected, so that they would feverously start reworking their planned release to make up that 5%...
It allows a company last minute speculation chance to double vram capacity if they choose to use double density vram and adjust price. It supposedly happened with the 3060 (supposedly, AMDs 8 gb is not enough marketing did penetrate somewhat, and pushed the 3060 from 6gb vram to 12, despite its faster brothers (3060 ti/3070) only using 8 gb. card specs aren't usually finialized till they hit the things they can almost adjust on the fly, which are vram capacity (right before start of production, can only choose to double or halve capacity), clocks (right before AIB production) and price (right before launch)

16GB 5080 is going to be a travesty
They can make it 32GB tho.
no it wont. Look at the memory bandwidth. its ridiculous at 896gb/sec. compare that to previous generations. Also, dont buy it then. Vote with your wallet, its the only way nvidia receives your vote
@@absolutelysobeast The Radeon VII had over 1000gb/sec, it's not that crazy.
@@lharsay yeah and that card was actually kind of a beast. Too bad AMD had like 1/50th the budget of nvidia for drivers. Im just saying the bandwidth has gone up and up and up and you dont need a 1024bit bus on a 60 series card that has 26gbps memory modules. Its a budget card. Im not saying i wouldnt like more bandwith. I absolutely would like it, but its not like the current levels are unusable. I do think the 80 class should have higher than 256bit. But then what? Do you go 320bit like the xbox series x or 384 with slower memory? I mean the jump from 1gb modules to 2 gb modules gives a little less flexibility for different configurations. I mean 20gb of vram is kind of a weird number you know. And 24 is just too high still for a mainstream card in my opinion. Going forward to 6000 yeah it better jump up, because we now have 4k 240hz screens so alot of 4k adopters coming in the next 12-18 months
@@absolutelysobeast the 256bit bus is fine, but the 16GB capacity doesn's sound like a high end config anymore, if 3GB memory modules won't become available they will need to clamshell 2GB modules for 32GB. Someone paying over $1000 for a GPU should not be in a situation where they have to worry about VRAM in games.
for someone like me who very much dislikes LMG/LTT, i really appreciate this tech news format!
As a developer and AI researcher I'd appreciate if they'd up the memory capacity on the flagship chip and release 2 variants... One for gaming with a reasonable amount of memory for the people that want to use the compute for gaming and one with doubled memory capacity on the same chip for people like me that are memory bound and don't want to drop 8K on a quadro, where you pay premium for features that you don't use in reality on a desktop (like verified drivers and nvlink).
