Wife did a pretty great job of painting hers, so kudos to her! I really like the techniques you used on yours though. Making me want to go back and re-paint mine!
Definitely an awesome theory and it panned out really well. This really helps in overcoming the fear of testing schemes for a whole army. Even if they have varying paint jobs, once they’re on the table, they’ll fit together very well!
@@CAMSLAYER13 True, this way of painting minis differently really only works for Orks due to their inconsistent nature. Put that up on Space Marines, T'au, Eldar, etc. It won't work unless you're running a variety of squads/chapters/sub-factions for your army. Like a Space Wolves and Salamanders forced to work together situation.
HAHAH awesome explination of the orks... Ive picked up a pack of orcs and making the "variations" of looks in the orks with in the same unit really does capture the Essence of what the orks are and how they organize. "COME ON YA GITZ DO DA WAGHHHHH!!!" and a rag tag mob of different packs get together to fight. Thank you for the inspiration!!
I love this theory with the ork painting style and i know what you are speaking of. I paint every of my orks with other colores then the one befor to make sure the look not to much alike
woop woop for wives painting! This honestly is the cutest and most heartwarming aspect of this vid (and every one of yours I have watched I have enjoyed) but in a hobby, I would imagine populated by men in their caves it's great to see equity in participation!
Great vid. I reckon a consistent base for all of those orcs would be enough to tie them together. Could have a whole army of orcs painted by dozens of friends, all on the same base style maybe? :)
Yeah I think that would work fantastically well. Normally I use resin printed bases for my orks, I didn’t do them this time so that it was more generic, but the bases I use stand out quite a bit and would easily tie any ork paint job together.
Bro I don't play Warhammer or have any idea really how the game works. But I found your videos today and love watching them. Seeing your process of taking a figure and making it come alive is so fascinating to watch. Subbed keep it up!
ORKZ IZ ORKZ, MATE! WOT ELSE IZ DERE TO IT?! Seriously, those guys look insanely cool, and Orks are a lot of fun to begin with. To paint anyway, as I'm not into playing Warhammer at all.
@@AndrewFishman Yeah my biggest complaint about the out-of-the-box lootas in general is that they all sort of look too much alike for my tastes, and they never look like they are actually looting, so a little kit-bashing is always a must for me. Swap some heads, get rid of the gun frames on a few of them, kitbash on some gun barrels from other armies, and load them down with stuff taken from other people's bits boxes. But other than that it is a terrifically orky set and if you just happen to have some regular boyz about (those boyz that have been around for twenty+ years) after making your lootas you can use the spare burna bits out of the kit to make a whole other unit of burna boyz out of the regular ladz. ;)
@@B__C__ Mate, I agree. I was going on the comment of whether this was a good bargain off ebay or not. AT the price paid, maybe the box was the better option.
2:34 Love your advice on second hand prices. Even though I have a decent handel on them myself, it's fun to hear you talk about them. No other popular UA-camr does that.
Easy conversion tip for lootas, take a big shoota from a boys box, convert a a burna boy arm for it and use sprue from the kit to make it look boxy framed.
Handy hint. The Lootas box has the parts for the Burnas as well. Either use some of the Boyz kit or if you can still find them, the old Easy To Build Orks box and you can get build both from the same box. Shoulders would need some refinement with a hobby knife but they look decent. And cheaper than 2 boxes of Lootas.
I just bought 3 boxes of these + already had 1. I magnetized all of them, so I can change them out too burnas. It was kind of a pain in the ass, but I got through it, atm they're all primed and ready for paint. Went ahead and bought a new airbrush, air compressor, and cleaning kit, etc. First time using an airbrush, can't wait to batch paint them !
You know, that yellow tint to the ork skin really grew on me. The more I looked at it, the more I like it. It's not quite grimdark, but it's not comic book, either. I like it.
I kow I once had orks, I know I had these models..I know I sold them elsewhere and am now wondering....are...are these some of my.old paintes orks that haven't been loved well??
I've got a Blood Axe army, and all of the camo is unique to the Ork. My idea for Ork camouflage is that the Orks understand they need different patterns and colours for camo, however they don't understand that the colours need to match the environment.... as such, I've got bright purples, odd blues, and one has yellow pants. It works as an army as you've got no model truly outshines another, and they have matching bases with joins the,. My Ork army is also quite old, plenty of Gorkamorka models, even a few Madboys
Is one of the black hatters done with a higher gloss? Just has a bit more shine than the other four - a dusting of matt varnish would help blend him more IMHO. Cool idea and execution though Casey. I do like your kahki colour more than the super vibrant green - feels more real some how.
Do love watching your content and the custom parts you use. I have just got my own creality halot one resin printer, I was just wondering where you get these excellent files from? If you don't mind me asking?
Hello my name is Florian and I come from Germany. I really like your videos but you are also a cool guy! So I am still trying to figure out how you are getting reasonable prices from E-Bay. Admittedly I am in Australia and it is a sellers market because we are hungry for product. However I just did a little experiment this time with Imperial Guard, (Maybe I should have parsed Astra Militarum). Anyway, there was nothing in a refined search for used product, in particular the bog standard Russ. So I went to new and every Russ tank that came up was between 80% & 90% of the boxed version in the store. Add to that the cost of shipping, which aint cheap to Aus and there is no value in E-Bay. So how do you do it. I get my best buys from conventions, but none for two years.
Orks 're Orks, there is always some individuality in an army regardless no two can look exactly alike. Also there is something to be said abour Ork lore (the darker the Ork (c) thd older or more battle hardened)
Haha, I have a couple, mostly I use the Anycubic mono, it’s small and quick, but in this one I had the mono x setup and ready so I just ran the files on that one :)
The lack of uniformed paint schemes for orks, even lore wise is great? Got deffskulls? You can have majorly red paint in models too. All just because an single ork might be genetically attracted to one kultur, but it's the Warboss presence and coercion that brings all orks under him under single kultur. It's why I like to try new kind of things, build myself as painter with my orks. Freehanding checkers looks pretty orkish with the imperfections. Some of my orks got downright garish paint jobs, some got more no mucking about feel on them. Some are a lot of blue. Only thing consistent with my orks is that their pants are Wyldewood, boots are black. And yeah, they look like mob of green hooligans who scrounged up their own gear, went to different kinds of meks. So.. Very orky. TL:DR, As long as you put some effort, paint your Orks whatever you want. It's gonna look orky. Also, don't be ashamed of little mistakes. It's also pretty orky.
Step 1: pay too much for unfinished models Step 2: 3d print and pay more for extra parts Step 3: recruit your friends to paint for you Step 4: profit???

Depends on your army, a couple odd orks looks fine, a couple of space marines in the wrong shade would stand out
