This week I get the chance to work on a pretty crazy model from the game Inquisitor! This model is an oversized 54mm model and it's in really rough shape. I also take a dive into the world of Inquisitor and Inq28 for the first time. I know I've only just begun to scratch the surface of this subject, but I hope to shed some light on a truly amazing part of the hobby. If you have resources to share, please leave them in the comments!

Love the jinjer shirt
Ah, Inquisitor. A cool game concept from back in the day when Fanatic/Specialist Games were allowed to go bonkers and do what they wanted to. Good times... Awesome paint job btw!
It's so dense, it would be cool to learn sometime for sure!
I miss Inquisitor. Imagine what they could do w/it now they could use plastic for them
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Its kinda like Pen & Paper with Models and Wargaming. Even in the GW store back then people were encouraged to play their character and talk to each other in character etc.. You also could do any action you could think of and create crazy moments.
I remember a game where Eisenhorn had a Space Marine drop his Bolter (through warp shenanigans) and then use a Cyber Mastiff to get it back to him. He couldnt really use it in the end though since he was physically too weak :D. At least the Space Marine lost his ranged weapon, otherwise he would have killed everyone. They are really OP like how they should be.
You could of course just do actions like jump around a corner and shoot someone while mid air. It was just really likely something fails and in any case you miss depending on your stats ofc..
Hitting certain body parts was fun. Like shooting people in the head with meltaguns.
I want to play it again one day but in 28mm scale, there are so many cool models now and its easier with terrain etc..
I miss this game. Sadly, it came about because of a poor marketing decision by GW. They designed the specialist inquisitor models that weren’t tied to any game. The CEO at the time wouldn’t release them unless they had an associated game, so they “made up” Inquisitor to support the models.
This meant the game was ultimately unsustainable and it died pretty quickly. I loved the Inquisitor Battle Reports and am so disappointed that they weren’t able to finish them.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Look for the Inquisimunda stuff, merging it with Necromunda. It made things work relatively well with more things and a bit faster.
Inquisitors problems were more of the massive requirements for, basically, an entire set of terrain that barely crossed with the rest of the collection. The minis did work very well for statues at the time
I mainly miss the Legends of the Old West game they had...Warhammer Historicals used to be some of the best there.
I'm just here to see how many people are going to tell you "that's an inquisitor, not a space marine!!!"
Great work and nice to see different types of restoration like filling corroded putting.
lol, I imagine quite a few!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I was one of them :p I have quite a few inquisitor models.
Which is understandable considering the lore implications lol
Im here to say its a tech priest ....you can tell by the cabling
I don’t understand the “space marines can’t be inquisitors!” Argument when the Inquisitor game has ex-space marines as an option for them.
lol
Interesting bit of trivia, the Deathwatch special character Watch Captain Artemis first appeared in Inquisitor
Gardens of Hecate got me into Inq28 and its unique style. One of the greatest Grimdark hobby blogs of all time!
Oh hey my name irl is Hecate! Time to frantically google whatever Gardens of Hecate is. lol
I recently found an un opened Captain Artemis inquisitor figure that I have had since the game launched and was too intimidated to paint at the time and got tossed in a closest and forgotten about , I think I am finally going to bite the bullet assemble/paint him.
how did it go?
@@crustyjuggler382 to my shame he is still unpainted, I've been working on Gundam kits.
I remember having that same one at launch. Beautiful model I wish I still had it.
I did a lovely conversion with the Artemis model. Arduous (I made my marine stand upright and made him non-deathwatch) but worth it. Labour of love by 20 year old me. Ah, sweet memories.
To me the most obvious use for a mini of this size in a 28mm game would be a statue. He seems a bit too big to double for a Primarch, but I could paint him as a huge holographic projection.
Hah that would be cool
I saw more than a few Brother Artemis' models used for just that purpose...
Would work as a deamon Prince though. I used quite a few inquisitor minis for that job. Lovely minis none the less
That's why I got the pair of Death Cult Assassins, to turn them into statues.
i found this exact model at a charity shop a while back and its been one of my fav pieces since i got it
What a cool find! I’m always on the lookout for minis when I go, still haven’t been lucky enough to find anything beyond clix style minis.
It’s great to see some tlc given to old mini’s. Looks fantastic
The way you've done the face reminds me of John Blanche's artwork - love it!!
U could 3D print a proxy for an enemy and make a sich diorama. A way to give the model a new life. Awesome video.
I've received brand new figures with 'corrosion' like that. Someone I know who is a white metal caster told me it happens when the molten metal is too hot when the figure is cast.
With primarchs coming back, this model seems to have the right size for one of them.
I remember when Inquisitor first came out thinking that the Art was fantastic. It was the first time I got excited about the art for 40k. Most illustrations before then were garbage. When I flipped through the Inquisitor books I felt like I was finally getting to see the real 40k universe for the first time. I love the more realistic tone most of the art has taken since then.
Nice jin jer shirt ! They should bring this game back , I'd like to try it out and deep dive into it .
It's not a Space Marine, it's an Inquisitor in power armor
Always up for some excellent restorative work and thank you for it!
this was a fun one!
I don't miss pewter models at all...Thanks for doing this so we don't have to!
haha, no problem
Hey love your videos! I just wanted to point one thing out from a healthy and safety for yourself. Is that for respiratory that you are wearing that you want p100 aka the pink/magenta cartridges. They are the hepa filters that will protect you from particulates in the air. The white ones are meant for vapors.
Yeah I'm working on an old chaos squat myself ....had to wait months just to strip that old paint 🎨
The figure came out great! I'm glad he got to live again!
Me too! Thanks again man!
Convert him to homebrew space marine inquisitor
Smashed Like for the Jinjer T-shirt
Awesome model. It has turned out fantastic. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
The figure is a witch hunter, not a space marine. Witch Hunter Tyrus, iirc.
lol I have a feeling I'm gonna be told this a few times then. I mean I knew he was called Inquisitor Tyrus. Thanks for the clarification!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Brother Artemis is the only space marine in the game, he is Deathwatch
Those inquisitor models are cool. I've got the captain artemis model. Been after it for years but the price people were asking was too high for me. Stumbled across another player at my flgs that had one floating around and was willing to trade for a box of chaos marines so I jumped at the chance to finally have one
I played this game back when it was first released. I still have 5 minis for the game that I bought back then, although I never picked up this guy. I do have the (real) space marine though, which was the best one by far!
The biggest problem with the game back then was that you really needed plenty of terrain to play it properly, since there were very detailed rules for hiding behind cover and kneeling, going prone etc. Of course nobody had terrain the right size to play with these models...
I actually grew up in Nottingham, and I remember going to Warhammer World to play this game with a friend. Unfortunately, even they didn't have any suitably scaled terrain so we had to just play it on a normal 40k board which was a bit weird...
Of course these days we have the perfect solution - 3d printers. Maybe one day I'll print out some 54mm scale terrain and actually have a proper game of Inquisitor. I guess 20 years late is better than never? 🤣
i dunno if it's worth mentioning, 54mm is greatly reduced but still running - The Conclave is a great resource and i'm actually doing a series demonstrating Inquisitor :) Precinct Omega did a great interview with Gav Thorpe about Inquisitor's development too!
Ah man..I miss this game so much. Loved the role play and character development. All helped by the devious and twisted mind of our GM lol. I still have most of my models in display a cabinet. Plus a couple I tried and failed to sell :-(
One of my favorite memories is a guard vet character I had converted to use a plasma gun (Using 40K plasma cannon). The weapon suffered an epic misfire and blew up, almost killing the character. I then set about converting a 2nd guard vet, this one had a bionic left arm, half bionic face and some epic scars but this time had a melta gun. The story being that it was the same guy, just rebuilt and with a new found distrust of plasma weapons.
I think this guy can be used as statue for terrain, don't even needs to fill pits and cover casting faults. Or this guy can be used as chaos-champ/demon prince, he is big so I think he could fit that role, just cut off inquisition-related parts or alternate them to chaos-related stuff. But I believe he will be great just staying on the shelf (cause damn that is a cool look for Inquisitor, powerclaw and bolt-pistol, he sure can kick some demons or xenos ass!)
Definitely! A demon prince conversion would be rad, like he's fallen to chaos and been given some dark gifts or something.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues and he has a pretty face still, augmented with that eye and earpiece, but still can be all-out Slaanesh champ if you want
Didn't know you were a fan of Jinjer! I think we have the same shirt. Very cool. :)
I've been all about Jinjer lately, can't get enough!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues their sound and style is certainly unique and hit an itch I didn't know I had. I saw them live two years ago, and they're just as good as in the studio!
@@murray1867 They really are spot on all the time. There’s a live at hell fest show that they did last year during covid that you can watch on UA-cam, studio quality live show that is practically perfect, it’s insane how good they sound not in the studio.
So sad that someone on our local ebaylike site sold several inquisitor models, but never one that I actually wanted (like Eisenhorn). Very rare to see, but i didn't want to dish out lacking money for minis I didn't want, just because they were rare
Even now they are really limited on ebay and soooo expensive. I'm keeping an eye out though, you never know!
Tamiya putty thinned out with Mr.Cement S works well to fill in pitting ive found as well (this is just my personal opinion after trying it take it as you will)
I'll have to give that a try, thanks!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues awesome i actually picked it up as a idea from a friend of mine that paints ww2 armor models and so far it has worked well for me on minis
he could be still used in 40k if you use him in a ork war boss conversion
If you read the foreword to the Eisenhorn Omnibus, Dan Abnett says that he wrote Eisenhorn as a add on to the launch of the game. So one of the most admired piece of 40K fiction, started as a cheap marketing trick....
That's very GW of them
awesome paint job. could it stand in for an iron hands daemon prince
Inquisitor was so cool as they teased it. I really wish the model line went somewhere and the game too. It’s definitely in my wheelhouse since it’s a mix of D&D and Wh40k. You’ve inspired me to seek out some of the minis and go to work on them.
honestly could have been cool to like go with the damage
the model isnt damage but his actual armour is
fill the holes with some rust stuff and have it leaking out just make it look intentional rather than just damaged
I didn't go into it, but if you look at the final shots there is some rust dripping out of the larger holes on his back :)
I still have a copy of the rules and a few of the models. It was a good time.
Great video! Always awesome to see things like this model resurrected. One issue... this isn't a Space Marine!
Yeah, I heard that a little bit ago. He’s an inquisitor, but man does he look like a space marine lol.
This is no Space Marine, this is a Human in a Powerarmor, i have the same Modell, i played one Game Inquisitor a long time ago , we had the problem that the Terrain was not in the right scale and we used Tyranid Warriors for Gants, He killed alot of Tyranids, he get Killed at the end, but he buy for the rest of the Team time to escape. In a 40 K Game i used him as my Primarch.
From everything I read the terrain seemed to be the biggest issue.
I heard that there are people who play the x files card game.
lol, I didn't even know there was a card game
Awesome! I have one of these in a box I will be painting soon - thanks for the inspiration!
Amazing video as always Casey ^^
Thanks :)
Another fun vid. Thanks Casey :)
I'm catching Night Lords vibes from this Inquisitor. Probably the colour scheme... Great to see that the GW Marine design language holds up well at a bigger scale. And that on a model that's old enough to (almost) legally drink worldwide.
Was the comment about the boots a 'Last Days' reference?
Highly recommend Alfabusa's video on the Inq28 art style
Awesome! Thank you
I came across the space marine Artemis model,l. Was missing his sword and gun. Converted him to have wings (think the old posessed back packs) and the demon price hand, and sword arm. He is now the demon price for a night lord force. Probably my favourite model to date.
How's the Death Guard army:)
It's....going lol. I've had it on a shelf for a bit, unfortunately. I still plan on finishing it at some point, it's almost done too, just a few more steps and it's done! I do plan on making a final video to finish it off sometime, hopefully, sooner than later.
Man, that mini turned out amazing! I would 100% wind up using him in an Inquisitor Army of today, rules be damned. I only play with my wife and a couple friends, anyway, and we use a modified ruleset that makes room for the Supreme Law, the Rule of Cool.
as usual your work is awesome, and i was wondering if one day you plan of painting a chaos (slaves to darkness) army, if you do so in my opinion it would be incredible and nothing would make me happier
I'm always up for it, just depends on what I can find :) I have a few models in that range though!
i got myself a good few of the range when they first came out even the 54mm genesteler,
Nice! Hold onto those, they are super spendy on ebay these days!
@@eBayMiniatureRescues i am mate i didnt get them to sell,i bulked them up with warhammer ogres with space marine jump packs covered by a carnifex carapace and 40k tank guns
I got pressured into buying this by a GW employee, he told me I could use it as a commander of my Space Marine army. Imagine a 13yr's horror to find its 54mm tall and wouldn't stick together
Those were great times.
Inquisitor is awesome, especially when you play it at 32mm. You can really do some good gaming when you add in the Fantasy Flight's materials...
The 54MM models are great. You just need to know the context.
They're great for RPG, not so much for table top games, unless you are playing old school Napoleonic, or WW2.
Those old GW 54mm figs really grow on you, when you know what's what with them.
I loved painting up models for Inquisitor. I sketched and wrote about many characters but in the end never found anyone to actually play it with. I hope models like Tyrus and Delphan Gruss eventually make their way into 40k. The Death Watch captain (Artemis?) made his way into the Deathwatch releases and one of the Arco-Flagellants from the Sister of Battle range references the first Arco-Flagellant model, Damien 1427. Hopefully this means that some characters will work their way into the limelight. We can thank the Inquisitor game for the Inquisitor Eisenhorn book series too, so that's good.
Amazing work as always. I love seeing your channel grow. Your skill speaks for itself.
Finished about eight of the figures when they came out still have about thirty to paint including a ten man imperial guard squad, loved the game but you need like minded people to immerse themselves in the game as it is proper role play, although I did just plan to game as original rogue trader but on a big scale.
Casey, I am pretty sure you already know this, but just in case. Pewter mini's don't like to be left in a strong degreaser (like LA's Totally Awesome) for long periods of time. Especially if there is bare metal showing. It will slowly corrode the surface. Have had this happen only if I left the mini in the degreaser for multiple days. The thick layer of paint will protect it from the degreaser, until you start scrubing. I like to use acetone and/or Dettol instead. Dettol can make a bit of a mess, so I start with acetone and finish with Dettol.
Ps acetone is the main ingredient of super glue deactivator/debonder.
Loved inquisitor! I ran a campaign with 40k, battle fleet gothic and inquisitor, my party had 28 mm version to use in huge 40 k battles. And they had several fleet battles in gothic.
He looks like an ultra marine instead of a dark blue metal and his skin tone is off.
lil bit, but I liked it, so I kept it.
no use? I'd use him as a primarch.
Lovely model thou
Ugh, again I go poking the Bay of E to see what these are going for, because of you, Casey! And hey...they're not too terribly spendy. I may grab me one or two to see what I can do with them. I happen to really like Jinjer, too--I admit that I stan Tatiana, but who doesn't?!
We played Inquisitor for years. Great fun and lots of laugh, where a lasgun could properly hurt, as coherent light should. The minis, including those exclusive to the UK, were fantastic.
You want to know what's great about your model there?
That guy is wearing old school 30K Cataphractii Terminator armor, before it was cool...
What a great reach back!
I still have the rules from when GW ended their old specialist games and put a LOT of the rulebooks up online for free...I think that, technically, those PDFs can still be had legally from others.
what I loved about Inquisitor was it was like a Roleplaying tabletop game and a strategy game as well, I loved making characters and then buying the components, making a whole unique character!
I was thinking if I ever print mini for a RPG then I would print the character mini at two scale. 28mm for combat and larger to place with the player.
I don’t play the table top. Maybe a few games with a starter set, or kill team.
I say that. So I can make it clear when I say this guys dope. You can paint so many ways its unbelievable. It’s awesome.
*Jumps on bandwagon* - Not a Spacemarine lol
lol, thank you
Sure you can use him in a modern 30k game. The lost 11th primarch, Maximiss Derpinator.
has anyone been able to find the right key words to search for someone's video playing this game? always wondered what it looked like but have never found a gameplay video
! awesome video as always keep up the good work
Great work! I will have to copy to tube painting highlight technique. Really nice detail!
Inquisitor was the General Knowledge that you have in Game z Workshop tat
Despite the name, the Inquisitor magazines you show early in the video have nothing to do with the game Inquisitor. They're 40K from fanzines from some years before the game of the same name came out.
New to your channel bro....lovin' the content. I was a big fan of 'Blood Bowl' back in the day (English brudda likes football 🔥) I'm watching for a blood bowl post. 1lov
I Love it that you cover Inqmunda/Inq28. I found them one month ago and am super intrigued. Awesome.
It's fascinating! I really like the stuff that's coming out of it.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues what I especially like about this concept is the creativity it holds, kitbashing and RPing your own Inquisitor.
Hey Casey, schnitzy basing here! Your work continues to inspire me! Took a long hyitus, but I'm back now!
Hey man, welcome back :) I'm still at it! I used some of your lava bases recently too!
FYI Tamiya basic putty is the same material as bondo. save money and get a can of filler from walmart or a parts store.
Hey u have a Yukon magnet:)
I always liked the Inquisitor game but had nobody else interesred in playing.
I'd be intrigued to know what chem was used to cause the pitting, because that's excessive
I wish I'd thought of using skrag brown on my hazard stripes, I ended up mucking around with contrast paints and got no where very slowly.
Contrast isn't a bad way to go, there are some orangy browns that would work for sure. I would paint the tube yellow, then go in with some contrast on the bottom half and finish it up with black stripes. You're probably not far off, although, Skrag Brown is really good :)
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Thanks, I have a bloat drone in the works at the minute and will give it a go on some of the pipes.
How did you get on with the tamiya putty? I really struggled with gap filling on my plague burst crawlers and was recommended Vallejo putty. Have you found a favourite in your eBay rescuing travels?
@@a.wilson4809 bloat drone tubes are perfect!
The tamiya putty was alright, I don’t think I’d use it for gap filling normally though, it was pretty sticky and difficult to work with. I much prefer the standard milliput for gaps. It’s easy to use and it can be sanded down once it’s dry. Vallejo putty is the same issue for me, it’s just super gooey and difficult to put on, though I think it’s better than tamiya. Definitely try milliput though, it’s a two part compound that dries in a few hours, and you can use water to smooth it out on the model. I’ve also seen it thinned with isopropyl alcohol to make a thinner mix that can be brushed into gaps and that seems easier than vallejos stuff.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues I had tried milliput with very limited success, it wouldn't stick to the model (tried water and vaseline to make it more workable). Probably just my inexperience having only ever used it previously to patch a crack on my cars coolant tank lol.
The isopropyl alcohol sounds interesting. I have some spare milliput, I'll have to have a play. Is this a topic you've covered in a previous video?
@@a.wilson4809 I’ve used it a bunch of videos, it’s been a while though since I’ve been trying alternatives. I wet my fingers and kinda mash it into the gaps, then I go over it again to smooth it out. Check out the millibutter video that Marco Frisoni did, that’s the best tutorial I can think of for milliput. He uses the iso method and it works really well! I think the last time I used it in a large capacity was on the mighty ghorgon I did like a year ago.
The thing that got me into 40K was the TTS series by Bruva Alfabusa
13:41 when glazing a highlight like you did here, try to end your brushstroke where you want it to be the brightest.
First off; looking fresh my man. Love the new trim! Second; awesome video, I never knew this game existed at all. Definitely gonna have to research it or get my hands on the book!
Thanks man! It's a crazy rabbit hole for sure, but there is some really incredible hobby, I'm excited to uncover more :)
I really wanted to get into Inquisitor but I didn't have anyone to play with :(
I have that exact model. Bought back in the day when it first came out.
Not a Space Marine. Power armor, yes…but just a human.
You could use such a large model as a statue in the terrain of a tabletop game I figure
Funny looking space marine. Absolutely love this game still playing it. Awsome paint job too
he is funny lookin for sure, for a witch hunter too. That's cool you're still playing this game though, do you use new rules or the original?
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Bit of both to be honest its a class rule set. It's very adaptable, I've used it for everything from lord of the rings to ww2 :)
At the very least, those old school Inquisitor models still have a use as statuary in terrain builds for 40K. Nice video and although these sculpts were during a time when I wasn't playing 40K so much they are pretty well sculpted and designed!
Isn't that a witch hunter tyrus mini? Good to see some inquisitor mini love. But the space marine from that game was a deathwatch marine. Tyrus is just a normal man.
Yeah this is witch hunter tyrus, I thought he was a space marine lol.
@@eBayMiniatureRescues let's be honest, the dude is a tank, so it's a understandable thing. Once you see the size of the deathwatch captain you realise how much bigger the scale is. I used the marine minis for deamon prince's back in the day duse to the size and armour. Love the minis and I I remember right the inquisitor mini was plagued with bad castings as I had to send mine back 3 times. The bad metal casting you had I don't think was from chemicals from a bath but from too much of the release powder. I had 3 bad pocked casts of him and 2 of the marine and 1 of the flagalent. I may be wrong in your case but mine looked like that fresh from GW HQ.
I regret that I have but one like to give for this video.
LoL Saivash was new version of my name.
Oh no! I'm sorry Siavash, I'll make sure to change that for the future :)
@@eBayMiniatureRescues no worries, in all honestly it took me to this video to see it myself. It's a struggle for everybody, for a while we had a routine in my old job that when somebody called in and requested to talk again with somebody and using some random name that nobody in the office had it, the call would get transfered to me. 9 out 10 times they where in fact looking for me anyway. :D
Good to see . You ve got to get the actual space marine from inquisitor. This is a dwarf by comparison!

I realy love this scale for models. Its still small to be considered a mini, but larger so it easy to pain nad can be more detailed.
