Loving the red skin orc thought. I have recently started buy up models on ebay after watching your videos. Really need to learn of the strip and clean these half painted and poorly based models to start from "scratch" if you will. A sonic cleaner is sadly not in my near future.
The sonic cleaner is really only a time saver. If you let the models sit in LAs totally awesome, or most other concentrated cleaners, the paint will come off after a few days. Just let it soak, scrub off the models with a toothbrush (electric brush is even better) and repeat until you get the paint off.
Looking at the models it would appear that they have the classic push fit syndrome. That is, the pins won't go all the way into the socket, (Air pressure being what it is) so you have these gaps that run the line of where the model is meant to join. If you build these fresh, trim down the pin to about half length an possibly drill a hole in the socket base to allow the air to escape. You should see a more tightly sealed model.
EMR- need your advice. I just picked up a night haunt black coach. The box has 1 set of paints & instructions has other colors, somehow I tripped up and followed the wrong one & now I'm very unhappy with how it looks. I stopped painting/assembly in case my only option is stripping. Everything else is spot on OK but the coach itself is a dark brown not black. Sadly some of the coach is glued so I'm not sure if I could paint it decent again after stripping. I'm in a back & forth loss on what to do, any advice?
Interesting, I think there may be a couple of things you could do. Look into black pigment powders, that can give that wood a really nice look to it, and I'd follow that up with some enamels, like a good grey or white wash to get in those cracks. I made a pretty long form multi part video on painting that model a whole back, it may give you some ideas as to where to go. Best advice I can give is to just keep painting, as long as you're keeping it thin you can keep going until you get a result you like. Good luck!! ua-cam.com/video/SAsUW-bYx3k/v-deo.html

What do you use for your crackle paste? Your bases look amazing! Everything I find online has mixed reviews. I have had good luck with GW crackle paint but that stuff has a steep price. Thx
Thanks for sharing. Interesting use of the insulation foam. I see it talked about often but I'm still unhip to it's actual use. Seeing you chop that up was a good idea of how it actually works. Did you air brush it? I've heard that primer melts it unless you seal it first.
The foam is pretty versatile, it cuts easily, and can be hot wire cut easily. Spray paints definitely will melt it, but as long as you spray from far enough away and don’t overload the foam with wet paint then the chemical that melts the foam will evaporate before it really hurts the foam. I rattle canned the first layer and then airbrushed it, no sealer before. Check out black magic craft for a good tutorial on how to not melt foam with paint, it’s very informative!
Damn the paint jobs shown off at the start of the video are amazing. This is my first video - are these yours? If so, I'm loving the way you paint metal.
