Fun fact: This level in the game helped me learn the week days in english when I was a smol boi. I'm finnish. It will forever hold a special place in my heart, and will always be my favorite game of all time
I remember when I used to come home from school, walk through the living room with the TV channel set to "Ellen" or "The Price is Right". Walking to my bedroom, pulling out Dark Cloud from a Gamestop generic used game case, and slapping that sucker into the PS2. Nothing to worry about, no responsibilities, just me, my room, and this amazing game. also OG gang
I had to buy the game twice because the disc scratched up too much. Granted i wasn't taking care of it well, but dvd's ain't that durable. I still have both discs and i have the case of at least one but maybe not the other
The absolute uniqueness of this game, the colours, the music, the storyline, it made this game feel like it wasn't made from the minds of those from this world.

@@malicemizersupremacy1645 she used the song as a ost for her series Minecraft Diaries but the song doesn’t really show up till season 2 of MCD where the song more predominantly used there.
I loved this game so much. And WOW, I forgot how incredible the soundtrack was! I'm listening to the whole soundtrack now as I continue my artwork. Such wonderful painting music.
Wise Owl Forest was always a interesting dungeon to me. The music is so jungl-ish and upbeat. Gives you a sense of wonder and adventure. Even playing in the 17 levels of the dungeon was amazing.
Expect the part of the Owl acting like a spolied kid who wants only ONE item when you work hard to kill all the enemies to get all of the 3 key items to go to the next level XD
it was really frustrating when you had ben fighting like a robot for ages, you dont have any more bread nor repairing powder, and then the owl told you to keep looking for the other key :P
It brings a smile to my face how so many people have fond memorys of this game. This and dark cloud 2 really are great games! brings a whole new meaning to the word adventure. You become connected with the characters so much.
I dont know why but when i was little i made lyrics for this "Party Like a Rock (pause), party like a rock( pause) , Party like a rock! Party! Party like a Rockstar! " ahhh the fun times i had
For some reason that dungeon actually became my favourite spot to grind after I finished it. I always went there to strengthen my weapons, get a bunch of items and go to the back floor.
=w= Love that violin descant. Tomohito, you my hero. The owl drops the pointy chestnut on people he don't like, he eats the berry, and collects the shiny stones. xD
I remember watching my brother play this game, I was about 5-6 when this came out and I don't really remember much from then but one thing I do remember is watching him play this game.
when i first arrived in the next dungeon i was so excited to see new enemies then i opened the treasure chest and found out the mimics have followed me they always used to scare me
Ah yes, Owl Forest, home of the BJ snake. Dont believe me? Lose the fight to the killer snake then watch the scene afterwards :P Makes it more bearable while trying to get "perfect" for the gem.
I remember a time when I was thirsty, couldn't change characters, & was almost dead. I had 1 of the keys, thinking "If this doesn't work, I'm dead," It ended up working... Lucky me...
anyone else go looking for the soundtrack to this amazing game and realize that this particular song stands out because it's different than what we get in the game? Even the percussion-absent variant isn't what we get.
I seen two other comments talking about how there's so many Aphmau comments but after awhile of scrolling you're the only one I see? Aphmau or not, I think this is a really beautiful and nostalgic song, and it definitely brings back memories. I too first heard this in Minecraft Diaries (am actually rewatching it at the moment), and now that I know where it's come from, I have been listening to the other sound tracks of this game! They're really nice, I love the feel. Anyway, have a great day
***** I tried over and over in the forest to get a territory where all seven goblins would appear, but it never happened. Is it true they give you something if they all appear, or was that info from the villagers bullshit lols? There's that, and I was also never able to get a magic carpet from a chest in the gallery of time, though I hear that was a bug in the game.
i remember when my friend came over early and he liked this game i had rented. I got too owl forest and i had piano lessons that day (teacher came to my house) so while he was playing that in my room i had lessons. Fun times i'll never forget. Well we both grew apart and i hate him now :P. Btw this was like in maybe 1996-7-8-9? anyways i miss those times :(
As much as I love this game, there are things that bug me. Most the areas after the ship were just too long and too samey for their own good in my opinion. I never beat the Dark Genie for one simple reason: His wind attack. Because of this, the only way to circumvent you dying is to kill him first by grinding for stronger weapons. Party members didn't interact at all, Osmond was the only exception to this. And it was really only with Toan. Xiao appeared once, and from then on only to kill stuff.
7 yrs late but for the wind attack I would always pick one character to sacrifice lol. When he was abt to do it I’d switch to said character so they’d take the damage then switch back to my mains
If someone's interested the song called ''Speechless - Shangri-La'' is really similar in vibes to Dark Clouds soundtrack, so i really suggest checking it out.
@TomcatBlackAce Do tell. I used this Wise Owl Forest as a trainning ground for Ungaga and the only monsters that can actually hurt him are the Earth Diggers and the Mimics .
@chibisuke580 The last boss, by jové, I remember having about 100 food sticks? I don't know how they were called, but it took me a long time to beat that bastard.
i hate the floors where you get thirsty really quick...like when i went from one room of the forest to another, my thirst meter would be frickin half empty already...it's like they dnt even give you a CHANCE!!
Even worse the owl acts like a spoiled kid who wants only ONE key item. You have to kill all of the enemies to get three of them. This game taught me one thing. Elders can even act like children more
The way the characters walk into the forest and look around is so adorable to me
Haha yes that animation is permanently ingrained into my brain. It is so whimsical and curious and like you say, flat out adorable!
