Synical it's too bad they turned "Link" into "Mario" for the second dark cloud. They ruined their chances to make a PSP Action RPG legacy like Zelda. I had more fun playing this than any Zelda; the ocarina of time and twilight princess were bad ass games too. But the change to a Mario spin off character in the second was a turn off. Why'd they do that? Made a Warrior look like a plumber...
I have very few complaints with this game, I love it so much. The soundtrack, gameplay, world building (literally), story. It all works together brilliantly. Such a classic.
I feel there was more to the Black Knight but the developers nixed it for whatever reason. They never bothered to show or explain what happened to Aga.

Darc Kloud Compendium has an iceberg on the game that shows it went through revisions over its development (some being the removal of the allies interacting with the Overworld which I'm still sore to find out about, the game world looking much different from what we have, and even the ability to fly around on a magic carpet).
Brand91 what i did was id Stay as ruby. And hide behind a pillar till the lady would come closer. If the shield is up then throw bombs at her. If you bring bombs she will die really fast

I never played this back then on PS2. Played it on PS4 via digital and yeah the game is really fun. Great PS2 JRPG in its time. Got stuck understanding the gameplay mechanics with the weapons breaking and having hit points with the water stamina and the Status Break system. I was 3 trophies away from platinum. Just needed to do the fishing quests and do a certain thing to kill Dran which I didn't do in my playthrough. 84% of trophies, which I got. Once you understand how the gameplay works with using your allies and their roles in dungeons and boss fights, the game gets easier.
I remember my first play through so well as I didn't know that Xiao would turn into an ally so I proceed to name her "MSFRISKY" then I got that potion and she turned into an ally. I named Toan Norman I named Goro Jake I forget what I named ruby I can't remember the real name of the staff guy but I na,ed him Baba then I got some liking for osmonds name so I kept his name.

Dayum, your weapon was pretty underleveled in that Dran fight xD (Then again, Gladius is not a good weapon against Dran tbf). Not gonna lie though.. On my first time playing dark cloud, I had to fight Dean twice.. The first time I lost horrendously, the whole stage got blown up O.O. at that time I was unsure of how to hit him so I spammed jump slash xD. ~I was 7 at the time. P.S. the easiest boss for me was Queen LA Saia :p. I was so overpowered at the time, I kept her alive just to get a thrill of the fight lol
I swear it never took me this long to kill Dran lmao. I always used to go into this fight with a bunch of bombs and soon as he lands, cheese the hell outta him
The trick to him was you have to change the element on your weapon to hurt him. I was really confused with that myself when I first fought him. Though this is coming from the guy who couldn’t figure out that he had the Sun Giant upside down for 3 years and therefore couldn’t complete the area since I didn’t fulfill all the requirements of the pilots.
Whoa I never knew about the black knight pendragon. I played 1 all the way in the last dungeon when that one guy stabbed himself to be able to send you back in time to fight the genie or something like that and then I never played again 😢 I just remember using the rabbit guy with the gun and nobody else once I got him
yeah there was the post game dungeon which had 100 levels, and the knight was the last boss of the game. You got a cool sword at the end of it.... but it was totally pointless because at that point you had 100%ed the game lol
god that dark genie boss fight was annoying to watch 0 skill at all, not even hitting every possible moment and using goro to avoid getting hit it was so satisfying to beat it for me because it was so stupidly broken. seriousky fuck that low damage wind attack that you cant avaoid without perfectly timing goro's charge attack
I went back and kicked the Dark Genie's entropic ass with it. Would have been cool if it could have been transferred over to the sequel or unlocked something in it.
I don't think the comment I responded to is here anymore or may have meant to put it on a Dark Cloud 2 video, it was in response as to why Max and Monica didn't end up together and I was personally glad they didn't because I kind of expected Monica to be a distant descendant of Max or something, not Toan. As far as possible connections to DC1, I always thought the continent the sequel takes place in may have been the unseen industrially advanced continent from the original that the Nazi-wannabe guy comes from that initially unleashes the Dark Genie. Either that, or the book that is shown in the first game to contain all of the events of DC1 is like some kind of fairy tale story that Max has that his mother would have read to him as a child.
I never could beat the Dark Genie because of that stupid unblockable unavoidable attack he does where he beats his wings at you :/ I stopped playing and refused to keep playing because of that.
I cheated. And got the best weapons in the game at sun and moon temple (I found the glitch their if not i would of gotten them in the first dungeon) So... yay im a cheater and everything was maxed out........

The Shocking Mosark I remember the game scaring the shit out of me when I played it at about 5 years old. the part that scared me was when Seda (the white haired guy who looks like Sephiroth from final fantasy VII) gets temporarily possessed by the dark genie at the beginning of the game and his eyes turn red.

i consider la saia the hardest boss in the game! because her attacks are so annoying and i kept losing!

If there's anything I learned about Master Utan, it's that it doesn't make up its mind about whether something counts as a hit or not.
I gotta say I got stuck the most on King's Curse because it was the first time a charge attack was necessary to progress in battle.

I was able to defeat minotaur joe pretty easily. I didn't really bother with the wine kegs, i just used the crap out of the desert warrior guy

Why was the Dran fight so long? Did you purposely not upgrade weapons?
