Yeah, it's one of my favorite games of all time. So many interesting ideas. I've never played a game anything like it since, between the weapon building and the town building. But it's so enjoyable replaying this again and again that I hardly mind. I still gotta play dark cloud 2 one day!
I can recommend dark cloud 2 / dark chronicle to you! Not as glorious as the first one but certainly a good successor. Also for anybody interested in a spiritual successor: "Rogue Galaxy".

Yuki Kun I think they would make more setting it to multi console, but yes it Needs A Full Remake. Just look at the beta of the game, the main character actually looks like he could hold his own against an enemy. and the fact that the actual game itself has multiple useless characters just screams that a remake should be made, also I think that more games should make use of a "hex" building system, as the towns would be made "fuller" so to speak, as you would be able to place more buildings down closer to eachother and so on, so on.
oh my fucking god, the memories almost made me cry, i remeber every night sitting right beside my mum while she played this and we went off into our own world, this game litteraly was what propelled me into becoming a gamer, i hold this game so close to my heart and i memorised all the cool parts like when toan fights the serpent and when you have to go to the really cool green alien place with the rabbit people, man this game is better than most if not all the modern games right now , they should redo this with higher graphics and and downloadable content with new stories and characters

Here's how I view it: Role Playing Games should never be focused primarily on the graphics, but should focus more on the story and lore of the world around it.
Got a little story about this game. When I was about 13-14 years old this game came in at the local video game shop down the road from my house. I kept lookkng at the case thinking about how badass it looked and wanted to rent it, but it was always checked out. For at least 3-4 weeks this game was NEVER in and I checked several times each week. Well I was friends with this one older lady that worked there and I ended up asking her what was going on with the game. She looked it up and found out the same dude had been renting it out for a week over and over. So i thought, "damn it must be good!" I can't wait til dude brings it back!" FINALLY! After a nearly a month of jonesing for some Dark Cloud, the dude brought it back and I was able to rent it. I was so stoked! I rented it out for a week and me and my little brother played it CONSTANTLY and beat the whole game. Ever since, Dark Cloud has basically been my all time favorite and I've owned it and played through it several different times throughout my life. Loving it each time. About 6 years after that i was staying with my cousin for a couple weeks and he had a ps2. We went to a pawn shop and I saw Dark Cloud there for 10 bucks. I convinced him to buy it and I played the absolute shit out of that particular disk. Then about 5-6 years after that I owned my own Ps2 and started a collection of old ps2 games i used to love. Got it again and played through it with my wife taking turns on dungeons. That and Xmen Legends 2 are my top 2 Ps2 games ever. Its one of the best games ever made imo and the music is a huge reason why its so good.
Finally started this game w/ my bro recently and we both instantly said "Oh it's like Soul Blazer" when we were told to go find a bunch of eggs to bring people and animals and structures back to Earth. And then we got to the dungeon crawling and I was like "Hell yeah it's also like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon" Sick game 8-) Also this is used as the theme for the "Schniper", a legendary and half-hidden video by gzero91 under a "Team Fortress" playlist. FYI. 8-)

I think this was the very first ps2 game that i've played brings back lots of good memories
I have made a piano version of the soundtrack of this video game legend. It's the least it deserves! If you love the piano and you played Dark Cloud as a kid, you'll feel the same nostalgia I felt playing it.
I learned how to whistle just so I could whistle along with this theme. Man, those were the days.
I grew up watching my mom playing this game and the first time played this RPG what made fell in love in video games and there genres so that how this game should have a dark cloud 3 Hands down
I never played this game before,now i know i should play it!
Not gonna lie but the xylophone part i never really liked but the more i listened to it (which was a LOT :3) the more i started to like it. So lucky enough to have the original for PS2 with one in good condition.
It’s sad that no one every really acknowledges the hero’s Son after the time line is changed :(
