Now I have a sudden urge to rebuild towns and see familiar people living there again. I mean comparing the empty, desolate plains of Norune at the start of the game to watching the whole place getting more lively again as you collect each fragment of the village, then this song plays, that is a unique feeling very few other games can evoke in a player.
Indeed! This game was pure good in it, with the actual feeling of living cities in it etc! Great gameplay, great plot, and beautiful style, along with the battling system too was quite good! The systems for example on the shopping was quite interesting as well!
It's so incredibly satisfying to put the different areas back together, especially when you figure out how to put them together perfectly and get that exrtra bonus at the end.
I think i had the same demo disc, it had alot of game trailers on it and a demo of airblade, dropship: united peace force and klonoa 2 maybe? i remember being so sad everytime the demo of dark cloud ended and i never got the chance to buy it ever
Same here. I had the same demo disk with the Dark Cloud demo on it an I played it over and over. I was no good at it but something about the mystery of this game I didn't own and the dark mysterious dungeon kept me coming back time and time again. I remember one time I got further then ever before and I happend to find a rare sword. I loved it and went to get my mom to show it to her. When I returned to my PS2 however, the game was gone. The demo went without input for too long and ended itself. I was so damn sad xD
Phillippe Jean-Marie From what I can tell it's exactly the same. Never played the original though, this was my first time. Also for what it's worth the Broken Dagger glitch is still around which made getting the Platinum trophy a lot less time consuming!
Yes, this game is really interesting and beautiful game to play! For that time, early 2000's a lot of game's were quite good for ps2, like for example one of my favorite games, Primal!

I'm sure others have said it, but there REALLY needs to be an HD remastering of Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle. Always loved Dark Cloud's soundtrack, too!

The nostalgia is strong. It's been about 16-17 years since I played this yet I always find myself thinking of this tune and humming to it every now and then, that amazes me. This is the first time i've listened to it again after all these years and it sounds as good as I remember, I remember being 11-12 and taking so much care to rebuild the village and I loved every minute of it. What a great game.

Yup, when both of my parents had it too rough to pay much attention to me, I had this game. It made me feel important, like I mattered. Years later and I have to learn that lesson again. I guess you can say I went and spoke with my village chieftan and now I'm being sent to my own dungeon to fight the monsters within.

We need more games with the building aspect and soundtrack similar to this game. Sadly, a lot of that games focus more on micro transactions and preorders than the actually game itself.
Yeah, I've had this for PS2 since I was a very small child. It's absolutely great. Halo ain't bad. It was one of the first story-focused shooters and innovated a lot in the gaming industry. The story is actually really well written and the universe is really well built. Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo Wars are the only good games in the series, though. Really great experiences, I recommend you try them.

It opened up worlds and themes and shit beyond my capabilities as like a 9 year old or so. It's a super empty spaced game lol like you walk...a lot. But damn the rpg element and hybrid world builder dungeon crawler was genius. I wish more games imitated both games. Oh God dark chronicle, the music in that one gets to me more. I have made a piano version of the soundtrack of this video game legend. It's the least it deserves! If you love the piano and you played Dark Cloud as a kid, you'll feel the same nostalgia I felt playing it.
BRUH this soundtrack always get me in the feels in a way due to this game was my entire child hood, this is shadow of the colossus but i played dark could like 20 times before Some how i lost the game and i slowly forgot about it until Middle school. Played it another 15 times lost it forever, BUT now i got it on PS4 and ya know imma play it another 30 times maybe :D

Hearing this music, it reminds me of the fun I had when I used to play this game. Man, I miss walking around and enjoying the music the game provided. It was honestly a really relaxing game when you weren't in the cave. Even in the cave, it had amazing music and memorable battles. I hope they remake this game so I can relive the joy I have when listening to this music.
Many a time I refused to go into the cave when I was younger just because I felt so safe in the village - thus I never finished the game; such is life.

@mariomaniac6411 Any chance you was playing the PAL version? I think this could be the NTSC version hence the higher tempo. I know what you mean though, it doesn't sound like this when you play the game. It isn't JUST the tempo. Maybe the in-game version is of lower-quality so it can fit onto the disc and what we're hearing is how it should be heard with the actual instruments and whatnot.

@Cesariono It's not the tempo. It's the pitch. The Official SoundTrack CD messed up some of the musics for some reason. The actual music hear in the game has a different pitch than this one.

That depends what version you have. The PAL version is pitched slightly different to the American and Japanese releases. I don't remember why.
