    Ich hätte ja hier die perfekte Umgebung dafür: Feuchte Atlantik Luft macht die glatten Fliesen an der Promenade noch rutschiger. Okay - wenn wir im Frühling zum Einkaufen zu dir kommen, muss der Backwards Powerslides halbwegs sicher sitzen. Thanks a lot for the super helpful video! Your excercises are great for improving balance and confidence. I was already able to skate backwards, so your video helped me to succeed within 5 minutes when I did a very short slide while skating backwards into it. 5 minutes later, I did longer slides, and 5 minutes after that, I recorded myself stopping at a predefined point. All of this worked with both sides/feet and 84A wheels. Next goal: jumping into it! 🤘

    Great tutorial, Daniel, an excellent update on your previous powerslide video - thank you. Maybe too difficult for me at this stage, but I'm doing a 'stops' course in London in a couple of weeks' time, which includes the powerslide once the easier stops are mastered. I'll be practising hard between now and then, using your tips, and hoping my 85As aren't too 'grippy'!

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  6 років тому +1

      Thank you Simon! :) I hope the course will help you to improve your braking skills! Well I don't hope it, I'm sure it will! It's also possible to do powerslide by use of 85A wheels, but it would be easier to pracitce with 88A wheels or harder. 🙂✌

      Was going to comment specifically on this. It is not a phrase that native English speakers use...but it should be! It captures a linguistic concept for which I cannot find another word. Closest one I can think of is 'salute'. Beautiful, and thanks for the tutorial! I've got powersliding down but had not thought of doing it backwards.

    Thank you for this tutorial. Very helpful. I'm having trouble with this and now I have a few techniques to practice to help me really learn it. One of my problems seems to be committing to the full on slide and the other is that I have very soft wheels and are very grabby. They are 82A. I can do the slide when surface is wet, so I think I need to switch to harder wheels like you mention 85A.

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  3 роки тому

      Thank you! 🙂🙏 This also works with soft wheels. But again you're right, the harder the wheels and the smoother the ground the easier it is to learn the Powerslide, as well as any other slide tricks. 🙂💪

    • @fisherchi
      @fisherchi 3 роки тому +1

      @@skamidanen I am finally able to do to backwards power slide! And I kept my soft 82A wheels. The problem was I was not fully committing to fully extending my sliding back leg. Once I got over that using some of your techniques, I was able to do a slide. Now just more practice to smooth it out. Thanks for the tips and techniques.

    Wow amazing video, thanks, i only recently started thinking about power sliding... The water idea is genius, though may hurt your bearing ( in the rain).
    Could you do a Miszou Grind tutorial, cause i started learning it, but can't get the handle of it.
    Thanks again, love your videos, keep them coming!

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  6 років тому +1

      Thank you so much Nikita! :)
      Well rain and water isn't that good for bearings. But for practicing powerslides it's worth. However, after a session on wet grounds, you should dry your bearings as fast as you can and always store them on a dry and warm place.
      A "how to Mizou grind" tutorial is on my list already. But it needs time to finsih it, because of the rainy and dark weather in autumn... For this reason I think I'll publish a mizou tutorial in December or later.

    How do you deal with little "downhill" in narrow streets with cars?

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  6 років тому +2

      There you can also use the Powerslide by just jumping an 180° into it.But you can also use the "T-Stop", your "Heel-Brake, if you have one" or parallel powerslide and stop.
      Well, in narrow streets with cars I recommend not skating too fast by using the T-Stop (pls use wheels which are not softer than 88a, better harder like 90a) or Heel-Brake. If you feel good you may also use any Powerslide, but it's much more difficult.

  • @profuderole1772
    @profuderole1772 Рік тому +1

    I think is better to use wheels with hardness 88a. Right?

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  Рік тому

      Definitely yes! The harder the wheels (the higher the number of A), the easier to learn a slide, the less the wear out. But think about, with softer wheels it's easier to control a slide.

  • @FooCyrus

    Very good progressive excercise! but isn't both backwards? I thought forward power slide means braking foot is in front.

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  4 роки тому

      Hm this is a good question. In our understanding the Power Slide itself means braking foot is in back. I'm not sure if you call it also Powers Slide when you put your braking foot in front. But you're totally right with saying it's both backwards. However we initiate the first one directly from going backwards anf the other one from going forwards.

    • @skamidanen
      @skamidanen  6 років тому

      Hey, no, but it's important to keep the skates or bearings on a dry place and do not skate while raining. But if you go skating in hot summer weather there's no problem skating through wet areas. Moreover you can use ceramic bearings, they will never rust.
