  • The Blix Sol Eclipse is a stylish approachable cruiser electric bike with excellent weight distribution and balance. Available in four beautiful colors, it comes with a large comfortable saddle, swept-back handlebar, ergonomic grips, and adjustable angle stem. Great safety upgrades including puncture resistant tires that also have reflective sidewall stripes, an integrated headlight, and optional integrated rear light (requires the rear rack) with brake activation bright mode. Comfortable 27.5" wheel size lowers the attack angle and adds air volume compared to traditional 26" wheels. Wide 2.4" tires improve stability and comfort on uneven terrain. Great chain guide, decent mechanical disc brakes, intuitive twist shifter. Good price point, good customer service in my experience, but these are sold direct so there will be some unboxing and assembly. Heavier than I expected given that there's no suspension fork, rack, or fenders included... but Blix does sell matching accessories. Great USB charging port on display, large readable screen, but I wish the battery infographic was more precise.

      Me too Glenn, it’s one of the lighter cruisers and the frame is very unique and distinctive looking. I’m very impressed by the low price, considering so many others are now much more expensive.

    There are so many bikes and bike companies out there, it's a bit overwhelming. I wonder how many of these companies will be around in 5-10 years. Hopefully there are enough common parts on these bikes that we can keep them going even if the company no longer exists.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  2 роки тому +5

      Yeah, I love the diversity of products because each one offers something special. However, it’s nice when a company chooses to build around a common battery design like Blix has done here. I think their packs are also more open and can be repaired and repacked but third parties. This is not the case for some fo the fancier ones like Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano…

      Yeah I was blown away when I started researching the e bike market. It will definitely be interesting to who ends up surviving. How long until tech companies enter this space 💀💀💀 for most companies then.

    I know the bike does not come with the rear brake light and Blix does not sell it. Did you guys purchase this and put it on the bike? I am looking to get one for my Sol Eclipse model.

    See now, this is the bike I should have bought; the power, the relaxed riding position, and the overall size is way bigger than the one I bought!!

      Ahh, hope you don’t feel too much regret. Perhaps you can sell yours and switch without losing much money, or keep this in mind for your next ebike. Do you mind sharing which bike you got instead? I hope it’s working okay :)

    I bought a Blix Aveny. I am 5ft 1" The bike is very long to maneuver. The paint was flawed on the right fork. Customer service did nothing. They said they sent touch up paint. It never came. The 3 inch by 2 inch paint flaw is not touch upable. It would ruin it. The battery doesn't stayed locked all the time and comes off which disconnects the power. So Blix should spend more money on customer service instead of advertising. My bike is beautiful looking but sits in the garage. When I paid for the bike I was supposed to get a 48 golt 14 Amp battery. Got a 48 volt 12 Amp. I wanted a lighter weight bike which the Aveny is and quite easy to put on a bike rack. I do wish the Aveny had a 750 watt motor. Just wish my Customer service experience had been better since there is no other way to get help for these bikes. I love your reviews!

      All good reasons to buy a bike from a local bike shop where you can take test rides, inspect the bike before buying it and have real people to fix it if you run in to problems. These direct to consumer bikes are wonderful when everything goes right but a lot can go wrong.

      Bummer, I'm so sorry to hear about the scratch and struggles to get the paint, battery, and general support. It was fun to visit these guys and I feel like they really do care about their customers. My reviews are all unpaid, I try to choose bikes that are unique and work with companies that make it easy. Pontus has been a good communicator and his team is friendly. I try to stay neutral... but I'll let him know about your comment so maybe his team can help.

      C Parker truly sorry to hear your experience was not up to expectation, our entire service team is working tirelessly to support everyone but definitely understand your frustration if things are not resolved yet. We will have our support reach out to you the next business day to address your points. We appreciate you a lot and will take care of you as a Blix family member. Ps. Regarding the battery spec difference it sounds like a difference between the previous vs new model, but we will confirm this as well and contact you directly. Thanks for riding Blix!!

    Great review as usual! I really appreciate showing that it is very manageable peddling with no motor assist. I'll most likely buy this one. Lighter than most..with a 750W motor! nice clean simple streamlined design! Wife will love it. which color to choose, cherbert or cotton candy lol?

  • @tomherron4334
    @tomherron4334 2 роки тому +3

    Santa Cruz seems to be the perfect backdrop for this bike. 750w feels almost like too much power for a relaxed bike like this.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, it’s pretty neat to see how small the motor is but feel its big lower! I really like this bike, and I think it can make sense for people who are using the racks to haul stuff or people who just weigh a bit more. Having access to more power is nice, even if you’re not using it in the lower assist levels :)

    This bike does not come with, nor is it an option, to have the tail/brake lights. Which was a real selling point for me after watching your video, so imagine my surprise and sadness when I'm informed that the SOL Eclipse is the ONLY Blix bike without it. 😡😡😡

  • @AC-yl7rg

    Just curious about the width of the handlebars. Your online review states 600 mm which makes them narrower than the Aveny handlebars which you measure at 650 mm. (Seems hard to believe.) An EBR UA-cam review of the Sol in August 2019 stated the Sol’s handlebars are 1,000 mm wide. I’m concerned the Sol’s handbags are too wide for my comfort so an accurate measurement is of some importance to me. Can someone clarify?

    Correct me if I am wrong, but this is a great price for a pedal forward design. the competition costs a lot more.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, if you compare to Electra Townie or similar models, it's much more affordable because it uses a hub motor vs. mid-drive. One of the other advantages is that you can use a throttle vs. being Class 1 only.

    Sorry Electric Bike Review but the $1,599.00 price tag on this bike is way overpriced, "fenders not included" and considering the Brake Rotors are only 160mm mechanical brakes (should be on a bike this size 180mm hydraulic brakes) ...👎-> many city's in the USA have slightly rough unmaintained roads and Neighborhood speed bumps every 250ft, so a bike with absolutely no suspension is going to spend a lot of time at your local bike repair shop. i have had experience with Chinese products that basically disintegrate within 6 months due to poor roads and crummy or no suspension. 👉buyer beware!!
