This is one of the maaaaaany bikes I have been looking at and you did, by far, the best review. You covered everything I was asking and more. Keep up the good work.
Why is the cable so long? There is quite a bit of slack in it. Is it because of the folding requirement? Also I note that the motor has a high whining noise when under torque. Does it disappear under any circumstances?
I had my eye on that green one in the video whenever I could see it. Classy looking bikes and beautiful location. Love your reviews. This one especially because it makes me want a Vika Plus Flex.
So many excellent e bikes to choose from, if I were in the market for this type of bike, I would be utterly confused on what to spend my money on and not have to regret getting something else after the fact.
Great review Court, I've had my ebike for a year now but I'm always astounded by the leaps in technology. I'm off to investigate planetary gear motors. Keep up the good work m8... 👏 🙌 👍
Court, you're the best ebike reviewer on UA-cam. We have 2 Vika+ and 1 Aveny Blix bikes. Nice looking well made bikes. Hydraulic brakes would be a worthwhile addition. I added cable activated Hydraulic Caliper's on the front brakes and that improves braking but stock hydraulics are needed. How about a review of the Serial 1 ebikes?
I love your reviews especially the Blix ebikes. I commented on the review you did for the Packa that customer service lacked with some issues I had with my Blix Aveny. A couple days later they apologized, sent out a new fork and paid for the installation. I appreciated that immensely but it's to bad it took a comment I made to get customer service attention. I don't think the Aveny is technically for risers 5'2"., maybe 5'6". I have the seat all the way down and have almost fallen twice having to stop the bike fast because of maneuvering off the bike and hitting my chest with the handle bars. With all that said Blix does make beautiful bikes with attention to detail. I wish the Aveny had a 750watt motor, shocks in front and the Blix Sol seat. (I had to buy after market seat to be more comfortable. Love all of your detailed reviews!! I
G'day mate , just my thoughts , back brake is a woeful design and the battery removal needs to come with a pack of band-aids after you hit your hands on the under side of the seat . all in all below average Ebike that would be nothing short of dangerous for an elderly rider . Back to the drawing board on this one . Love your channel !
Thanks for your input! I do my beat to cover the features of each bike snd highlight trade offs. Blix used to have a flip up saddle for this model, which made battery removal easier, but switched to a fixed saddle for improved ride experience and weight savings. As someone who mostly leaves my battery on the bike, I’m in favor of the decision. The rear brake line does bug me a little, but maybe not so bad if you live in a dry environment and store the bike I’m a clean space.
I am 6'1", 275 lbs trying to find something that would support that for casual riding AND be manageable to pull up a flight of stairs as I live in a 2nd story apartment. I really like the magnetic feature they developed that holds the wheels together in folded mode. Is this a no-go for me though due to my size? Could folding it make it easier to pull upstairs? Great review I really appreciate your content for helping determine the right bike for me. Thank you.
Hey Court, thanks for the informative review! I was wondering if the cadence sensor seems to respond well to how fast you're pedaling or if it's more of an on/off thing.
Hi James! It's definitely more of an on/off thing in terms of activating the motor. However, I think that pedaling faster initially will trigger the cadence sensor more quickly. This is why a 12 magnet sensor is superior to the older 5 and 6 magnet sensors, they offer higher resolution and are much more responsive due to less distance between each magnet and the reader :)
Was wondering if you were able to see whether the display is easily removeable? It looks like its pretty easy to disconnect the wire but how easy would it be to take off the display itself as a precaution if you wanted to park the bike outdoors for a longer period of time?
Yes, the pedals are Wellgo metal folding platform. My favorite for folding ebikes due to stiffness and traction. Sorry I didn’t show the folding on camera this time :/
Reminds of a bigger better ebike of Brompton but I love the engineering and the quality of the regular Brompton but they need better engineering for the brompton ebikes imo
I would also like to know if you can fold it with the racks & bags. Particularly on the front, but it’d be nice to know if the bike can fold with the “basket” rack on the rear.
is there something quiter that wouldn't be significantly more expensive? folding or not, anything really. Never rode electric bike before and motor noise is definitely a deterrent.
See another Vika review by Electric Bike Report. Tested riding up a 12-14 % grade in St George, Utah. Noise definitely discernible but remember that 500W motor has to struggle uphill in torque mode. Tester not fazed by this.
Hey Tom, you're right! I did a quick search and found a similar folding model with swooping downtube from Freego. I'm not as familiar with that company, but I hope the bike is working well for you :D
Thank you for being the only reviewer ever to demo rolling the bike when folded

Another great review Court, I've had my bike and I've done 1615km /1003miles in just over a year
Wow, that's a lot of riding. Great job! It sounds like you've been having fun, and I'm glad you enjoyed my review. Thanks :)

lol you must work for them
@@yeowzaa7686 Why? I am not saying that you should buy this particular bike .

Thanks Jim! Yeah, it’s amazing the advances we’ve seen :)
Lectric bike beats it in front suspension, sturdiness and price. ( $700.00 dollars cheaper) and 3" tires for more stability..

Excellent review. Thanks, Court.
Absolutely the best reviews Court

Beautiful location.
Totally, one of the most beautiful places every! Felt super lucky to get to visit, have you ever been to Santa Cruz before John?
That's Santa Cruz and famous Monterey Bay in background, site of America's favorite marine life and whale watching .. and sea otters

Any rider, not only elderly would hopefully get some serious instruction before getting on any e bike. Common sense..mate'.
I'm a senior and I have absolutely no trouble removing the battery. It's ridiculous to say it's dangerous. I love this bike!! I have the green one.
A good comprehensive review. as always. Wish it was wired for an additional battery...and motor options?

Are they going to refresh this bike for 2023?
Nice review! Have you guys gotten your hands on the Snapcycle S1 yet? Really interested to hear your thoughts before purchasing.
No, I'll keep an eye out for it though!! Thanks :)

You probably want a motor that drivers can hear as a bike rider
My wife is 5"2", will this bike work for her?
Looks like my Freego bike, well the style of it...

No negatives???
_This is not a review. It is a Blix Vika bike promotion!_
That is a noisy ebike.
Hand waving is a little excessive...
I tend to do some hand waving when I get excited or am trying to teach, thanks for the reminder that it could be toned down ;)
Not a constructive feedback, mate.
I love a good hand wave!!! Don't let anyone take away your passion!!!!
