- A very solid Single-segment run with no commentary. Introduced some new strategies in Erebus 2, Erebus 3, Erebus 6, Phobos Labs 3, and Hell.
I did not think the time was gonna go as low as it did. Initially, I set my sights on 28:XX but things just happened as they always seem to do when speedrunning. You would think I would have learned by now not to deem a faster time impossible but I guess I am still dumb.
Resurrection Of Evil is the only campaign in which the speedrun is actually faster on Nightmare than on Recruit. This, alongside Lost Mission, is a very short and fun run.
If you are gonna speedrun this game, start with the shortest campaign and work your way up to the main campaign. Firstly Lost Mission, then Resurrection Of Evil, and finally the main campaign.
I re-encoded this to 4K so I can get more bitrate out of the video.

Man, this is such a trip. I remember as a kid being blown away by the lighting, physics and interactable in-game displays. Watching you speedrun this is such a pleasure, keep up the great work!

My headcannon is the Marine was already finishing his shift and was excited to come back up to watch a new season of Walking Dead which starts in 30 minutes but the female coworker whom he invited to come watch with him at the UAC rec area says "hope this isn't too much but before you go can you take that floating heart and stop by hell to stuff into a bald guys throat? See you at the premiere"
And the Marine just grabs and delivers it like some paper at an office job.
Punching a pinky demon in the face was probably the best part of this run. 21:54

Why you're so insane? The Nightmare in Doom 3 and ROE even worst than original 'Nightmare!' difficulty in D1 and D2.
But very impressive, i'm very happy that there's still some people who make runs for this very underrated game.
That's such a strange take. I finished NM in Doom 3, and it was hard but not too bad. NM in Doom 2 is ridiculous. It's unplayable.

I've only got this and Lost Mission to complete on nightmare to get the platinum trophy for Doom 3. I didn't realise just how OP the fists become using the artifact!

Haven't played these games since they came out, watched both your world records, extremely impressive.
From my vague memories I seem to remember things being a lot darker and doing a lot of back pedaling when I played them In my youth.

Clearly a ridiculously good level of skill, particularly towards the end. How many hours did it take roughly, if I may ask?
To be honest, I really don't remember. Not too long for that grind but all the previous Quake playing had a lot to do with the performance.

I am really wonder how to make the bunny hop.
How do you make that jump at 3:41? How is that even possible? I've tried countless times and get nowhere near the speed and height you get. Are you using some kind of cheat or something?
On nightmare you get all 3 powerups from the artifact, including berserk gives you more speed. A small strafe jump and a bunny hop to keep the momentum, ergo many hours of old Quake and Doom games with strafe jump physics. Plus, the BFG edition has faster movement than the original Doom 3 so it is actually quite easy. That jump is even possible without using the artifact, just too hard for a full game speedrun. In my segmented run of the original RoE, there is more cool stuff you would probably like e.g. the rocketjump in Phobos Labs 2, the end of Phobos Labs 3, entire Hell. I went all out 😀

I think it depends where you are from. I am Croatian so I heard something else initially, but I get pistachios from the English speaking countries. Same goes for the jibberish of Marc Sec and Aku Aku from Crash Bandicoot. 😀

@@spaghettiyolo7778 Well, Vulgars have 150HP and a rocket deals 150 damage (if not headshot). So, given that I missed the enemy and dealt only splash damage, he was probably left alive on like 10HP.

Oh damn, that's impressive! One more question, how did you jump that chasm at 3:38? I try and barely get to jump halfway. I'm on an Xbox Series X so maybe that matters, I dunno.
@@m_56782 @Muerto Yeah, you would need to utilize strafe jumping which is hard to do on a controller. When you utilize it, it is quite easy while having the speed boost from the artifact which you only get on nightmare at that point in the game. It is also doable without the artifact, but for that one, you would need to play on PC and do a decent strafe jump. There is a third way as well, which involves using a barrel and a grabber gun but that is probably not really viable with a controller either, but you can at least take a look:

haha. well, you can fist fight him but only on nightmare difficulty because you already have all the powerups from the start. if you play on other difficulties, you get each powerup by defeating each of the bosses, so slow motion, berserk and invulnerability. you do not have berserk at that point to be able to punch him to death if you play on recruit for example, but only after defeating him you get it.

I wasn't planning on it. You quickly get burnt out grinding that.

I have no idea tbh. I should have fists or pistol. It doesn't really change anything though, since after the first cutscene you don't have it anymore as far as I remember.

Would this game be better to speedrun on the original xbox?
Nope. This game was downgraded for the OG xbox, so some changes were made and levels split in parts and such, plus you would be using a controller to play an FPS game, which is just an inferior tool to mouse and keyboard in that case. Chunk0 did some runs on the OG xbox like 2 years ago, but I don't think he ever uploaded them or submitted them.

r_gamma 2 or 3 in the console. I also had it brightened in OBS. Not sure if it will work like that anymore though. If not, you can always increase the brightness in your GPU driver's control panel.

it is easier to see for viewers if the game is well lit. for me, the game being dark does not really make a difference since i know it well
Does the heart increase damage?
On Nightmare, the artifact (the heart) gives you 3 powerups instantly that otherwise, on other difficulties, you get by defeating bosses. Slow Motion, Berserk and Invulnerability - in that order. Berserk gives you increased damage output, especially for punching and makes you move a lot faster.
how you make the z-sec visors purple?
i didnt change anything. maybe the rbdoom3 source port does it or just having the game so bright, i don't know.
Which button to skip cutscenes ?
We use a souceport called RBDOOM3BFG which makes the cutscenes skippable with ESC.
