I don't remember having the soul cube in my marine run of this. Good to know they give it you for the nightmare difficulty though, will make it less painful.

The program is called LiveSplit. It's a timer with splits for each level for correct comparison and input display at the bottom. The first main timer is the load removed time, then underneath with a smaller font it's the segment timer, so that times only 1 split, and then the last one is Real Time, which includes loading screens.
If you are using the original game, open the console (ctrl+alt+~[tilde]) and type r_gamma 2. If you are using the BFG Edition, search for RBDOOM3BFG on github and install the latest version, which is currently 1.5.1, and then open the console with tilde and type r_gamma 2.
Install the latest RBDOO3BFG sourceport from GitHub and then open console by pressing tilde and then type in /r_gamma 2. There are multiple gfx tweaks you can do on RBDOOM, just read up on its GitHub page.

I lost almost 30 of BFG 9000 ammo to kill the final boss and still he didn't die. Yet you killed with 2 shots. Wtf is going on?
Headshots. It's not hard to hit his head but I do remember killing a run by missing once.

Why are you losing health constantly?
It's just how the nightmare difficulty is in Doom 3. Losing 5 health every 5 seconds until you get to 25hp.
