I wonder if doom guy will end up becoming the next primeval Hugo said their were other beings who created Davoth and perhaps they feared that the slayer would over throw them one day which is why they ordered the remaining seraphs to imprison the slayer to postpone that day
Doom 3 is kinda easy to explain, it's what happens in the background of the doom games, if I'm not mistaken, one marine goes missing right? That one would probably be doomguy. The main character in doom 3 isn't doomguy, but probably possibly the guy running towards doomguy in the box art
This would also explain the horror atmosphere of D3--the main character isn't a killing machine like doomguy, he's just a normal marine trying to survive.
well maybe it is but the marine who goes missing is the guy you find in mars city just before demons start invading. So it can't be doomguy. But i'm not sure since at the end of doom 3 doomguy kills the cyberdemon and closes the portal.
No, it was a separate Earth dimension. That is the only way to reconcile Doom 3 with the other games. There was a deleted line from Eternal where the Khan Maykr states there are multiple Earth dimensions and we are not in that one. Additionally, a codex entry from Doom Hunter Base says that the Aggadons predate all known complex life at 80 million years old. We know that complex life has existed far longer than that on our world. If you look at the sky box in "The Holt" as you get to the top you will see a shattered Earth in the sky. It's obviously Earth as the the Indian subcontinent is clearly visible. All this put together provides a lot of evidence the there are multiple Earth dimensions
Doom 3 is a reboot, it has no connection to the rest of the Doom games. That random marine on the Doom cover, is just a random marine. If you have ever watched that G4 video about the making of Doom 3, it should be clear that the events in Doom 3 happen as if the first games never happened. Doom 3 was id's attempt at a Doom game done with modern tech, a hard reboot of Doom. Why name it "Doom 3" then? No idea, but that "3" does not mean "sequel", it's more like "the 3rd Doom game" or something like that.
The people saying Master Chief would beat the Slayer are either complete idiots, or just know nothing about the Doom Slayer. I agree. And I a a huge Halo fan. John-117 is a badass, he destroyed a whole fleet, nuked a Halo ring and saved the known galaxy from the Forerunner's intergalactic Hula-hoops! But Doom Slayer is on a whole other level entirely, hell, He's practically a Demi-God in the 2016 reboot, and has fought Hell for eons. Just in combat experience alone, Slayer wins.
@@RockRedGenesis I agree. It's just best a keep them in separate universes. Let them be their own legends! They don't need to brawl since they are both badasses

Doom 3 fits with the rest when you remember thr multiverse that exists has multiple earths. The Earth in 2016/Eternal is not (or at least it makes no sense if it is) the Doomguy's earth, so it stands to reason that doom 3 is just another dimension that was invaded by hell
This video is really well made. The script is clean, the editing is clean, the music is clean, and it actually clarified a lot of the problems I had with Doom lore. Keep up the good work, man!
Some questions regarding the lore: A) The Icon of Sin, is it the same being from DOOM II, travelling between dimensions Or is it a seperate being itself? B) The Mars events of 2016, is it familiar to the slayer with the events being almost similar to DOOM 1993?
It's the same icon, but resurrected by the Khan maykr With how angry the slayer is at the start of doom 2016, I would imagine that he is quite familiar with the situation that's happening
@@RK_Koala Not the same. The one from Doom II: Hell On Earth is the Baphomet, the one from Doom Eternal is the Icon of Sin. For Final Doom, the one from TNT: Evilution is the Demon-Spitter, and the one from The Plutonia Experiment is the Gatekeeper.
@@flamsey But they might be the same species. Because well they look the same. Maybe "Icon of Sin" is a title as well as "Gate Keeper" and others. So they are just high ranking deamon lords. Or they are in fact one and the same being just ressurected time and time again. As the authors of Doom stated "The reason why the Doomslayer broke his curcible was to seal the Icon of Sin and avoid it being ressurected yet again", implying that every time we as the player killed it we mearly temporarily did so.
@@flamsey Literally none of what you just said comes from a cannon source. Sounds like it came from a wiki, which any wiki that isnt Wikipedia is not a reliable source.
This to me is the best explanation of the Doom timeline I've ever heard. It connects all the games besides Doom 3 (though it wasn't really THAT good compared to the other game apart from being scary) and actually makes a hell of a lot of sense. It even gives Doomguy a bit more of a tragic edge since he's lost everything but somehow keeps going through his will to kill things that rip and tear like he does. Even down to making a sacrifice by staying in Hell to keep the demons away from earth. I guess once Davoth was finally taken down, he could finally rest easy. You done good slayer. You done good.
Honestly I truly never gave too much of a shit about lore in video games that are very much action focused, but I have to admit once I delved into the lore that Hugo and Marty spearheaded, I was absolutely in love with it. I don't know why or how but the story just somehow doesn't feel unnecessary or stupid to me, it feels like the game simply could not hold together without it. It sets up intregue and gives the game a sort of weight that makes the experience feel so badass. Somehow with context the game is so exciting. But that's just me.
@@derezzed5588 I honestly love lore and story in games, for me DOOM Eternal doesn't really hold up the excitement, DOOM 2016 story is awesome tho, it shows how badass the Slayer is more than Eternal does. I'm most interested in Half Life lore, it has basically infinite story
If you want it dumbed down so much, just stick with the originals. The "complex shit" adds to the story and universe in spectacular fashion. How can anyone consider this a bad thing?
From what I understand there are 3 separate timelines that Doomguy jumps between. His original timeline is Doom 1, 2, and 64. Somehow he gets transported to the Doom 3 universe in which he fights off an invasion there. Then he gets taken to the new universe where he fights demons for ages before the events of 2016
it is still s trucking funny to me that doomguy at one point was "just some guy" and then rose to be a figure of great power, like normal guy to immortal demon slayer is amazing
turn on subtitles. You won't regret it. ...and the Dark Lord challenges the Slayer to a jew, in the capital city of Hell, immora. The slayer must now find the gate of the womb, only able to be opened by a rave crystal...
Doom 3 fits perfectly between doom 64 and doom 2016 but in a different universe and a different version of the events in the original doom. You can see in doom 3 on the ancient scribblings a drawing of doomguy holding the soulcube. That means that he used the soulcube while he was in hell and when the demons put him to sleep, he wasn't able to prevent the invasion in doom 3. At the end of doom 3, the marine throws the soulcube in the gate of hell and when dr. Samuel Haiden goes in hell to get the sarcophagus in which the doom slayer was locked in, he finds the soulcube and that explains why it is in Olivia Pierce's office. The mobile game doom rpg takes place after doom 3 where you are in the same universe from doom 3. Doom ressurection is set right before doom 3 and doom rpg 2 is set after doom rpg. Doom ressurection of evil is set 2 years after doom 3. Also in doom 3 you can find a big sarcophagus where the fallen warrior who fought demons is located. The fallen warrior is obviously doomguy. In doom 3 co-op on xbox, the player 2 model looks like the original doomguy. Maybe the doom slayer travelled to the universe in doom 3 to help out the marine. The reason for the name of the marine in doom rpg being Blazkovicz is because in that universe, there was another BJ Blazkovicz from Wolfenstein rpg. The original doomguy probably had his named changed over the years, but he is still the descendant of Blazkovicz.
"You can see in doom 3 on the ancient scribblings a drawing of doomguy holding the soulcube." Dude... Do you even know what an easter egg is? You cannot force canon with easter eggs lol. Doom 3 is a hard reboot of Doom, it has no connection with the rest of the Doom games. Have you watched the G4 video about the making of Doom 3? Tim Willits himself tells us that the events in Doom 3 happen "as if the first games never happened". I will never understand this. The Doom community will shit on Doom 3 at every chance they get, but at the same time want to force it to be canon? lol.
I dont think anyone know how he was teleported to argent D'Nur. It is possible that Davon, through his influence, had the slayer transported to the planet to get things in motion, and ensure the prophecy gets fulfilled. Remember what he mentioned in the video, where davon influences the maykers to create the divinity machine, so who is to say that he didnt influence someone in hell to get him to the planet?
@@wazscience I knew and I put it in my video when the info came out. But alot of people don't seem to research it more to find the answer. (which is not in the game actually)
There is a big inconsistency in the codex entries that has always bothered me. In "The Book of Kings", it's stated that Doomguy was inducted into the Night Sentinels and trained prior to being given his powers, but in TAG2 it's said that he was "released from his cell" by Samur and taken to the machine, implying that he had been a prisoner up to this point. It's either in-universe revisionist history or an oversight of the writers
At the beginning of the video, the Dark Lord's creations did not "keep immortality for themselves" they saw how their creator was going mad searching for what he desired most for his children, corrupting and warping them and everything else, instilling hate into them. So they stopped research and instead kept their memories immortal so that they could continue moving to new machine bodies.
@@alejandrolizarraga3924 Yes. Those were further attempts by Hell to invade Earth after the events of DOOM II. Doomguy at that point was leading the marine deployment.
Because of this video, now I understand the Ancient Gods' ending. Basically the slayer was returned to his "Doomguy" state and then preserved, to be woken up again sometime in the future. That's good. I'm sure he needed a nap after centuries of demon slaying
when the next doom game rolls around I'm just expecting sam to be like "not again" when the gods decide they need the Slayer again. Since he is still alive.
I consider Doom 3 taking place either the period during Doomguy’s conquest of hell after Doom 64 or either while he’s still in his 100 year stasis and hasn’t been found yet
I don't understand why people can't wrap their head around Doom 3 and how it fits just fine. It doesn't have to be explicitly told where exactly did it fit but if you know doom 3 lore in and out including all environmental clues you wouldn't really have problems putting it in. In fact it answers a lot of questions that are left blank in other games. Mars in Doom3 was inhabited by earth's predecessors. Doom guy we all know while originated from current earth but once he got to hell and various dimensions - time jumps and skips and completely different passage of time in entirety was common. Doom marine from D3 isn't DS but DS is referenced in Doom3 as the ultimate fighter who helped them battle forces of hell (who we all know waged war and consumed countless civilizations across multiple dimensions, even Ancient mars and it's Praleanthor population which were extremely advanced, one could say even to the level of I habitants or Argent D'Nur) but still eventually succumbed and sacrificed themselves as a civilization to seal away the hell portals with the help of doom slayer who carried on his war with hell, but at least our solar system was safe for the time being. But Mars made into an uninhabitable wasteland, second generation of humanity was seeded on earth (which is us) before Praleanthor turned themselves into the Soul Cube to aid the Doom Slayer in his war, hence why it was rediscovered by Doom marine in the depths of Hell, where just like Doom Slayer, it was sealed away due to how powerful it is. The Praleanthor battles and hell portals on Mars is the reason why in 2016/Eternal that was the place to get argent energy.. Because the veil between dimensions was already opened once and is thin. Not so much for Earth which is why Hell could never directly open portals there but had to travel from Mars all the way to Earth. I mean c'mon people. Use some analytical skills. It's clear as day where and how Doom3 fits in. Yes, Doom Marine is NOT the doom guy, it was never implied that he is, but Doom3 itself is more than canonical and fits in very well and by leaving it out you leave a massive gap in the timeline and canon aswell as some events that LEAD to 2016/Eternal. You need to be a bit more observant and don't generalize. Just because Doom marine isn't Doom Slayer doesn't mean it's not canon. Doom is a franchise, franchise has several protagonists. Even Doom 3 RoH had a different Doom marine. Doesn't mean anything. It's the other parts of the game, the environment and story that are canon, regardless who the protagonist is. Realistic you should edit the title to be The history/timeline of Doom Slayer, not Doom. Because there's more to it than just the protagonist. Environmental storytelling is 50% of the franchise because events in the Doom universe didn't suddenly stop just because Doom Slayer wasn't there in person at the time. Hence why everyone who claims Doom3 is not canon are people who just don't really pay much attention to the actual overall story arc. And it came from the horses mouth himself. I could see clear as day which elements in 2016 and Eternal were directly inspired or started off by D3. D3 was a story of how hell once affected the original humans of our solar system, same kind of humans that inhabited the other planes and planets, just like the Sentinels and others. Even in Eternal there are many references to the humans being split in many different civilizations across multiple universes. Praleanthor were one of them in our corner - just as advanced and almost superhuman. And just like the others - battled hell and succumbed. It makes absolutely perfect sense in the grand scheme of things.
One thing you forgot. In Doom3, the Asian scientist mentions "The Devil is real, I know, I built it's cage" Who was he talking about exactly, the Dark Lord?
Its apsalutly crazy that doom guy is just human yet went through billion of years in hell when a normal person can't survive 5 minutes and kill countless gods and went on that journey
I heard Alex Terrible's doom BFG Division cover and the lyrics made me realize I didn't know anything about the lore. Did a quick search and found your video. Super glad I did! Amazing job!
A Vega entry shows us that all timelines and possibilities exist. So Doom 3 can still technically be canon as long as that Doom Marine becomes the Destroyer.
Terrific job compiling the lore into a digestible video. The only two things which I do not understand are: 1. If the slayer had his own crucible and already used it to kill a titan prior to the events of doom 2016, why did he not immediately understand the true nature of the demonic crucible? 2. If the gate of divum is needed in order to get to Immora , how did the sentinels suddenly create dozens of their own portals? If it is not needed, why didnt the slayer take an easier route?
These two bullet points are simply plotholes, Hugo even admitted that you'll need to stretch a lot of things to explain the second point about the gate of divum
@@RK_Koala One of the basic pieces of furniture, a chair is a type of seat. Its primary features are two pieces of a durable material, attached as back and seat to one another at a 90° or slightly greater angle, with usually the four corners of the horizontal seat attached in turn to four legs-or other parts of the seat's underside attached to three legs or to a shaft about which a four-arm turnstile on rollers can turn-strong enough to support the weight of a person who sits on the seat (usually wide and broad enough to hold the lower body from the buttocks almost to the knees) and leans against the vertical back (usually high and wide enough to support the back to the shoulder blades). The legs are typically high enough for the seated person's thighs and knees to form a 90° or lesser angle.[1][2] Used in a number of rooms in homes (e.g. in living rooms, dining rooms, and dens), in schools and offices (with desks), and in various other workplaces, chairs may be made of wood, metal, or synthetic materials, and either the seat alone or the entire chair may be padded or upholstered in various colors and fabrics. Chairs vary in design. An armchair has armrests fixed to the seat;[3] a recliner is upholstered and under its seat is a mechanism that allows one to lower the chair's back and raise into place a fold-out footrest;[4] a rocking chair has legs fixed to two long curved slats; a wheelchair has wheels fixed to an axis under the seat.[5] Etymology Chair comes from the early 13th-century English word chaere, from Old French chaiere ("chair, seat, throne"), from Latin cathedra ("seat").[6] History Main article: History of the chair Five three-legged chairs around a low-legged table from Sliven 19th Century Lifestyle Museum Early 20th-century armchair made in eastern Australia, with strong heraldic embellishment The chair has been used since antiquity, although for many centuries it was a symbolic article of state and dignity rather than an article for ordinary use. "The chair" is still used as the emblem of authority in the House of Commons in the United Kingdom[7] and Canada,[8] and in many other settings. In keeping with this historical connotation of the "chair" as the symbol of authority, committees, boards of directors, and academic departments all have a 'chairman' or 'chair'.[9] Endowed professorships are referred to as chairs.[10] It was not until the 16th century that chairs became common.[11] Until then, people sat on chests, benches, and stools, which were the ordinary seats of everyday life. The number of chairs which have survived from an earlier date is exceedingly limited; most examples are of ecclesiastical, seigneurial or feudal origin.[citation needed] Chairs were in existence since at least the Early Dynastic Period of Egypt (c. 3100 BC). They were covered with cloth or leather, were made of carved wood, and were much lower than today's chairs - chair seats were sometimes only 10 inches (25 cm) high.[12] In ancient Egypt chairs appear to have been of great richness and splendor. Fashioned of ebony and ivory, or of carved and gilded wood, they were covered with costly materials, magnificent patterns and supported upon representations of the legs of beasts or the figures of captives. Generally speaking, the higher ranked an individual was, the taller and more sumptuous was the chair he sat on and the greater the honor. On state occasions the pharaoh sat on a throne, often with a little footstool in front of it.[13] The average Egyptian family seldom had chairs, and if they did, it was usually only the master of the household who sat on a chair. Among the better off, the chairs might be painted to look like the ornate inlaid and carved chairs of the rich, but the craftsmanship was usually poor. Hello Gordon!
They said the dark lord is a alternative version of the slayer but sense it turns out he was the first being does that mean the slayer is a alternative version of the dark lord and thats why he was able to survive everything including obsorbing his powers.
Its an inconsistency in what is sadly a poorly written lore that constantly retcons and over complicates itself. Like the idea of Davoth being Hell's Doomguy, doesnt go anywhere and is immediately just "Nah, youre a copy" Then gets over complicated with the fact they mixed time travel to the past, time skipping to the future. Which wouldnt be bad if they kept it in the same universe of earth...but then Hugo went and said its an alternate universe of earth...then what was even the point of time traveling then time skipping to the future? Its all bad man, which is a bummer because its one of my favorite franchises.
The only thing that isn't explained by the end is who the ancient gods really are, how powerful they are and if they were also created by Davoth, and what the wraiths are, what their powers are and where they come from. But I guess they will always keep some secrets... They need to keep some stuff to spin a yarn for the next game, or at least another expansion, if they are going to make one. But I can't even imagine where they will take the gameplay or the story from here.
So at the end of the ancient gods, some silent protagonist wearing a nearly unbreakable suit, kills the threat of the universe, and is put in stasis until he is needed again. Half Life fans: hey I've seen this one. DOOM fans: what do you mean? It's brand new.
This was amazing!!! So much research (God I love Doom lore.) This just makes me look forward to the new Doom comic even more. It also makes me hopeful that Id software and Bethesda make a Doom TV show covering all this. (either live action or animated). They could have a different game each session. And each level being an episode. Ah a man can dream.
@@fleetdoesstuff3175 we don't know yet. All we do know is that it will explain the events between 2016 and eternal. Such as where Hayden sent the Slayer, how he got to the Fortress of Doom, how he made his new suit and how he killed Deag Ranak's guardian and got its sentinel token. Hugo Martin announced this in one of his Doom Eternal streams.
Here are a few things I would like to say about doom lore: 1: There was no need for them to explain the backstory of hell and LITERALLY THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE. They over-explained everything. It's better to leave some questions unanswered. 2: Why did they make an entire new civilisation which is urdak? 3: The whole point of doom was doomguy fighting demons. Not actual civilisations living in 'jakkad' who were corrupted over time. This whole backstory ruins it. 4: Samuel Hayden was a good character. Instead of expanding his personality and story, they ruined his whole character by revealing that he is a maykr. And guess what? He dies. What a waste of a good character. 5: Same goes to vega. They should've kept him an artificial intelligence. 6: What a horrible ending to a great franchise. I like doom, but they should've kept it as a dark sci fi game. Not turn it into a fantasy game. There was a literal DRAGON in the DLC! And in the dlc in blood swamps, doomguy sees a demon (the titan, maligog) And he's chill and lets it get him to the top. What doomguy actually would have done is ripping and tearing the demon. Referring to point 6, This is a horrible way to end a great franchise. (if it was actually the end which I hope not) It should not have an end. "Rip and tear, until it is done." *It is never done.* They actually made it seem like it was done. I hate that. But it's a great story, don't get me wrong, it's just what I would change if I was in charge of it.
While I can understand and sorta agree with the Vega and Samuel part, I love everything else. I love the backstory of Hell instead of it just being an evil place for the sake of being evil, and I am a fan of some of the fantasy elements because it's a nice breath of fresh air from the same boring UAC stuff we see in most games. Also that part about the titan, no. Slayer doesn't kill what he doesn't have to. He kills almost every demon he sees because they are evil and want to harm any universe they enter, but that Titan was legit just doing his job with overseeing the trials and letting him enter once he proved he was worthy. Nothing evil about that. Hell, if you pay attention as much as some unhealthy people like me do, it seems that the slayer doesnt really have that much against the titans compared to other demons. Most of them are enslaved and forced to do the evil things they do, like those titans who were holding the chains in nekroval or that Titan under the command of the priest in hell on earth. Doomguy isn't a dumb angry man, he's a smart angry man.
Was there ever an actual reason for the slayer to go to the super gore nest or was it literally just Vega telling him to go play while he figures out where to send him next.
Even without the power from the dark lord, the doom slayer is still the doom slayer. i mean he still single handedly challenged Hell as a normal human. i wouldnt be suprised if the only thing the blessing did was give him a few extra hitpoints lol

Doom 3 is kinda easy to explain, it's what happens in the background of the doom games, if I'm not mistaken, one marine goes missing right? That one would probably be doomguy. The main character in doom 3 isn't doomguy, but probably possibly the guy running towards doomguy in the box art
Shit, you may be on to something.
As someone with an unhealthy following of the Doom lore, bless you for making this
the amount of optimisation youve done to get literally almost everything in 25 minutes is astounding. amazing video production and writing
The people saying Master Chief would beat the Slayer are either complete idiots, or just know nothing about the Doom Slayer. Don't get me wrong, I love Master Chief but that's not even a fair comparison. A dude in an upgraded suit vs. A dude with the power of a God in an indestructible suit. Zero Comparison
True, that doesn't mean i don't like Master Chief by saying true
@@McBloccguy0 no not at all! Like I said, I love Master Chief too. But I'm just stating a fact. I wouldn't want to see Doom Slayer rip him apart... I'm just saying I know what would happen lol
@@codytisdale9064 THAT, THAT IS A FAX, we dont want them to brawl, we want them to be the heroes, the saviour of their own humanity, and not to fight with each other just to see who could be the fearsome, both of them is already fearsome to their own enemy so it will be pointless fighting each other
The entire story of Doom is just: "Ah shit, here we go again."
Doom 3 fits with the rest when you remember thr multiverse that exists has multiple earths.
The Earth in 2016/Eternal is not (or at least it makes no sense if it is) the Doomguy's earth, so it stands to reason that doom 3 is just another dimension that was invaded by hell
In the ancient gods there's even a shattered earth that can be seen in urdak
This video is really well made. The script is clean, the editing is clean, the music is clean, and it actually clarified a lot of the problems I had with Doom lore. Keep up the good work, man!

it was basically the timeline I came up with and im glad to see it in video form. Thank you
Your surname troubles me... You're not a corrupt robot scientist, are you?
Some questions regarding the lore: A) The Icon of Sin, is it the same being from DOOM II, travelling between dimensions Or is it a seperate being itself?
B) The Mars events of 2016, is it familiar to the slayer with the events being almost similar to DOOM 1993?
It's the same icon, but resurrected by the Khan maykr
With how angry the slayer is at the start of doom 2016, I would imagine that he is quite familiar with the situation that's happening

You done good.
for me whole DOOM lore is just "shoot demons until they die", no more complex shit
That's pretty much how it is from Doomguy's perspective

A video that's actually precise and complete. Nice job!
From what I understand there are 3 separate timelines that Doomguy jumps between. His original timeline is Doom 1, 2, and 64. Somehow he gets transported to the Doom 3 universe in which he fights off an invasion there. Then he gets taken to the new universe where he fights demons for ages before the events of 2016
His only words after centuries of becoming mute
"No"
The best "No" I ever heard.
I'mma just saw this: In one of the DOOM 2016's loading screens, it has this one phrase off text: "The Cycle begins anew."
it is still s trucking funny to me that doomguy at one point was "just some guy" and then rose to be a figure of great power, like normal guy to immortal demon slayer is amazing
Well he was never human, he is a Clone of the Devil
turn on subtitles. You won't regret it. ...and the Dark Lord challenges the Slayer to a jew, in the capital city of Hell, immora. The slayer must now find the gate of the womb, only able to be opened by a rave crystal...
"Out of that spear came the rapes that released magic"
The original doomguy probably had his named changed over the years, but he is still the descendant of Blazkovicz.
doom 3 is in the same multiverse, connected by hell, but not in the main timeline i think

You didn't make the connection how Doom Marine escaped Hell (Doom 64) to appear on Argent D'Nur. Seems like alot of people don't know this info.
I dont think anyone know how he was teleported to argent D'Nur. It is possible that Davon, through his influence, had the slayer transported to the planet to get things in motion, and ensure the prophecy gets fulfilled. Remember what he mentioned in the video, where davon influences the maykers to create the divinity machine, so who is to say that he didnt influence someone in hell to get him to the planet?

,,may the blood on your sword never dry and may we never need you"
Whoa, that is almost like a perpendicular meaning of "Forgive and forget"
Doom 3 is easy to explain. It simply takes place in the background, it also has a horror theme because we play as a human marine

“After humiliating the marauder-“
Lmao that’s harsh
when the next doom game rolls around I'm just expecting sam to be like "not again" when the gods decide they need the Slayer again. Since he is still alive.
Me neither
I consider Doom 3 taking place either the period during Doomguy’s conquest of hell after Doom 64 or either while he’s still in his 100 year stasis and hasn’t been found yet
It's actually in a completely different universe

A Vega entry shows us that all timelines and possibilities exist. So Doom 3 can still technically be canon as long as that Doom Marine becomes the Destroyer.
We all know that Doom 3 is canon. Hugo Martin conformed himself

Hello Dr Coomer!
An armchair has armrests fixed to the seat;[3] a recliner is upholstered and under its seat is a mechanism that allows one to lower the chair's back and raise into place a fold-out footrest;[4] a rocking chair has legs fixed to two long curved slats; a wheelchair has wheels fixed to an axis under the seat.[5]
Etymology
Chair comes from the early 13th-century English word chaere, from Old French chaiere ("chair, seat, throne"), from Latin cathedra ("seat").[6]
History
Main article: History of the chair
Five three-legged chairs around a low-legged table from Sliven 19th Century Lifestyle Museum
Early 20th-century armchair made in eastern Australia, with strong heraldic embellishment The chair has been used since antiquity, although for many centuries it was a symbolic article of state and dignity rather than an article for ordinary use. The number of chairs which have survived from an earlier date is exceedingly limited; most examples are of ecclesiastical, seigneurial or feudal origin.[citation needed]
Chairs were in existence since at least the Early Dynastic Period of Egypt (c. On state occasions the pharaoh sat on a throne, often with a little footstool in front of it.[13]
The average Egyptian family seldom had chairs, and if they did, it was usually only the master of the household who sat on a chair. Among the better off, the chairs might be painted to look like the ornate inlaid and carved chairs of the rich, but the craftsmanship was usually poor.
Hello Gordon!
Hell Constantly tries to attack various places without context and this doomguy keeps defeating them along w some induced side quests.
Like the idea of Davoth being Hell's Doomguy, doesnt go anywhere and is immediately just "Nah, youre a copy"
Then gets over complicated with the fact they mixed time travel to the past, time skipping to the future. Which wouldnt be bad if they kept it in the same universe of earth...but then Hugo went and said its an alternate universe of earth...then what was even the point of time traveling then time skipping to the future?

The only thing that isn't explained by the end is who the ancient gods really are, how powerful they are and if they were also created by Davoth, and what the wraiths are, what their powers are and where they come from. But I guess they will always keep some secrets... They need to keep some stuff to spin a yarn for the next game, or at least another expansion, if they are going to make one. Doom slayer doesn't care so he kills everything until it is done.
Bruh the first doom was probably the first game I’ve ever played I loved it rn I own all the dooms now I’m wondering if I should beat them all again
You know ? Doom 3 can happen same time as Doom 1, different marines, mars, phobos
Here are a few things I would like to say about doom lore:
1: There was no need for them to explain the backstory of hell and LITERALLY THE ENTIRE MULTIVERSE.
And in the dlc in blood swamps, doomguy sees a demon (the titan, maligog)
And he's chill and lets it get him to the top. What doomguy actually would have done is ripping and tearing the demon.
Referring to point 6, This is a horrible way to end a great franchise. (if it was actually the end which I hope not)
It should not have an end.
"Rip and tear, until it is done."
*It is never done.*
They actually made it seem like it was done.
What an ambitious video, I love Doom lore but it can be really messy!
Even without the power from the dark lord, the doom slayer is still the doom slayer. i mean he still single handedly challenged Hell as a normal human. i wouldnt be suprised if the only thing the blessing did was give him a few extra hitpoints lol
99% of voices on youtube arnt American English but has accent makes me happy
Ahh its the feeling to know i can breathe freely now to know and understand the whole doom lore
All the complex lore of doom is just world building
Doom Guy specific lore boils down too " You killed my bunny, *now die* "
John wick in godly form?
This sounds like a whole mythology of some ancient fairytale lol
I always thought Doom 3 took place while the original Doomguy was trapped inside the sarcophagus before Doom 2016 started.
There’s an upcoming DOOM Game coming soon which could take place after the events of DOOM 64 and before the events of DOOM(2016).
It’s called DOOM Dark Ages.
I like to think that Doom 3 is the beginning of Doom 2016 with the beginning of the invasion just to make things easy
Short story:
god dies but not really.
demons kill doom guys bunny,
doom guy goes on a rampage and the end
One correction: i do not think those that sealed him or animated the dark lord are ancient gods. they are the same as samuel , a different breed of maykr...seraphims...loyal to the father and having free will, not the drones commanded by the khan.
Thank you so much I was always confused on the topic of the civil war but thanks to you I get it
Great video! where does Doom 3 fit into all of this?
No
