- I finally got it. With this time I feel like my quest is complete. If someone is insane enough to go for 57 be my guest.
I've started speedrunning this game a year ago and I have been on and off with it. Firstly I did Lost Mission on Recruit on my old PC and then I stopped. Then, after a while I got a new PC and I started running Doom 3 Main Campaign on Recruit and got a time of 56:58 which I only have on my twitch channel twitch.tv/lekolega. And then I stopped again, because you cannot play this game with that much intensity :D. After some time I decided to try and bring Nightmare Any% Main Campaign under 1 hour which had never been done before. It took me less than 2 weeks to get that sub 1h run but since I had a major 30 second timeloss in it, I decided to push on to a 58. Around 2 weeks after that, I finally did it. I feel like this is my proudest speedrunning achievement which has been nothing but a month long every goddamn day grind for hours. Have fun watching.

It has been almost 2 years since this run and I keep getting nice comments.
When I ran this game, I did so with an immense amount of passion, and then to see so many people recognizing this and feeling the vibes I felt at the time is a really great feeling. I am very happy you guys are enjoying this and I hope, in the near future that I find time to improve this run. Speedrunning is almost never-ending. You can always be faster.

@@thebinarybiscuit Yeah, I have discord and there is a Doom 3 speedrunning server. You can find some other speedruns on my channel like Far Cry 1 etc. I don't speedrun anymore because I burned myself out, but I am still involved in the communities.

Thank you. It took me about a month of grinding every day for a couple hours. It took only a month because I have played games with strafejumping in them all my life, so I am familiar with how the physics work. I am glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

Very well done! A spectacle of movement skill being displayed. I play doom 3 like that too and sometimes I feel like John and the devs meant for it to be played fast-paced from the get go, like a choice players can make whether they want it nice and slow with a story to match, or doom guy slaying demons like its nothing. I also feel that nightmare difficulty greatly enhances that idea. Thank you for such finesse given, your gameplay is unforgettable.

Damn, you are good! It took me dozens, if not hundreds of saves and many more deaths to get through this on nightmare, nearly fifteen hours of play time, not including reloads! I did it to get the trophy, and so will probably never play on nightmare level again!
It gets a lot easier when you know where demons spawn, but thank you 😊
Yes, it helps knowing when to use the soul cube for a strong enemy, or when you need a health boost, but many times they killed me in one or two hits even when I DID know where they were- too quick for me to take them out! I'm just not a hardcore gamer

52:50 that skip also works on ps3. even though i did it with mouse and keyboard it should work with a controller too. it's just hard to pull of cause of the 40seconds loading time everytime you mess up.

Amazing speedrun! Well done! Quick question. There are some points where you shoot the machine gun to a seemingly specific point. Is that a strat or are you just passing the time?
Thank you! My speedruns are generally full of useless tics. So it is mostly just passing time and rounding up ammo. I feed my OCD, so to speak :D. The one on 10:24 is a legitimate strategy though. I kill the guy carrying the BFG so I can take it.
Very nice run, was fun to watch. Is the shotgun different in RBDOOM3BFG compared to normal DOOM3BFG? I see you and other speedrunners one shot imps almost every time and it never happens for me in normal DOOM3BFG.
Thanks :). No, not that I know of. BFG Edition had an improved version compared to vanilla, but I don't think RBDOOM3BFG does anything for it.

Thank you :). I might retry it at one point, but for now, I am ok with the current time because I'm not sure if I am ready for another month of grinding every day. As for the Delta 2A skip: there is a leftover end level trigger that you can reach by rocketjumping. I am guessing it is a developer oversight. Whatever the case, it is very useful :).

I never had the balls to watch one of these speedruns but man you make it look easy. I have the original collectors copy that I bought when the game released and couldn’t use the cheat codes on nightmare so never played it. Seeing the chainsaw play a part in the speedrun warms my heart.

When you start the game on Nightmare you immediately get it so you can manage your health situation since there are no health pickups, only health stations which are not in great numbers.
Noob question. How do you get those 1 hit shotty kills on the armored undead? I sometimes get lucky but most of the time require 2 shots, even while point blank at the head and moving forward.
I guess you mean the Mars Sec gibberish talking shotgun and machinegun dudes. You just gotta come very close and hit as much in the middle as possible so that the shotgun spread does not matter much.
@@lekolega thanks. I apparently need to just practice more. Nightmare at the outset looks tough, but realizing how many sections you can just run past and little tricks you can implement takes a lot of the intimidation away!

Initially skipping cutscenes in the BFG editing only works with a source port called RBDOOM3BFG which is used in this speedrun.
And people say Doom 3 isn't fast paced.

10:20 After you enter this room, 2 guys start running down the hall next to the room you are in, and if you are fast enough at killing 2 maggots, you can catch up and shoot them. One of them is carrying a BFG (10:25)

no. it's because the elevator has to spend less time travelling when i call it later since it's closer.

It is not a hard skip in the BFG Edition, you will get it. /g_fov 120
