I'm what one might call a classic/vintage shaver and also a daily shaver. I use vintage Gillette and Gem razors. I also use straight razors and some modern DE razors like the Muhler R41, the Edwin Jager DE89 and the Fatip open comb DE razor. I work up my lather in a classic barber style shaving mug or a vintage shaving scuttle. I apply a hot towel with a couple of drops of fragrance oil either Sandalwood or Lavender to my face. I then lather up and do a three pass shave. After the shave, a cool rinse then Pinaud Clubman after a dry down then Clubman talc followed with Paul Sabastian Fine Cologne "also a barber shop scent". I then put on my shirt , tie slacks, and dress shoes, and now I'm good for the day. I get complements all the time on how I look and smell. Looking good is as important as smelling good. A classic gentleman always stands out from the rest. Be a Gentleman be a Clubman. lol.
I love Lilac Vegetal after shave. I learned to barely put any on really easy because a lot of people absolutely hate it. It was John Wayne's go to bottle.
Love your intro/extro music. Sounds like Moby. Thanks for the video, it was just what I was looking for. I'm 58 years old, I love the fougere scents, and was looking for a classic aftershave. I enjoyed the video, classy, well spoken and informative. Have a brilliant day.
Yes absolutely love them ….i Wish I had discovered Clubman years ago great product and great price ….i used dollar store aftershave for years and I can get a big bottle of Clubman for the same price and it’s a better product
Looked just now in replay and… what a great video! I agree 100% with you. Personally I love all the clubman pinaud fragrances… they gently let my mind flow in another time and specially for a nostalgic person (like me) this is a priceless sensation. They are my everyday go to.. all my other eau the toilette, eau the parfum and company are literally sleeping somewhere on my home. Again, really thank you for this video! Whit all my appreciation, greetings from Italy, Pierpaolo 🙂👋🏻
I was always put off by the low price, assuming it was a cheap fragrance pretending to be a gentleman’s fragrance. Then I saw it at a barbershop, my barber used it on me and I loved it instantly!!
I've used Crystal hot sauce and Tabasco. Wash them very well used alcohol rinse. I really like the crystals because it comes up narrow at the top dispensing is perfect. I have a small key ring cable the ends are turnbuckle which allows me to put a little sign or Medallion on it anything I want label it. Now I've cleaned out a tall Square A1 bottle put it in a caddy because it's kind of awkward and easily knocked over another reason why I like the crystal bottle heavy at the bottom. Love the videos enjoy watching. I just realized today when I went to the grocery store bought the seasoning cardamom when I crack the bottle open I realized at some somewhere at some time I had smelled that in a cologne and I wondered which one?
The aroma of Clubman just brings me back to almost every barbershop experience I had up until they stopped shaving the neck and around the ears. Lots of barber shops are just using electric clippers and lots of barbers no longer have the skills to use a straight razor/shavette. I love the powder. I'm on my last cannister of talc based formulation. I'm afraid I won't like the newer corn starch base. The shave soap is very slick. It performs very well for the price. I have the Whisky Woods aftershave and the Clubman aftershave and enjoy them both.
I got a straight shave from a barber a couple weeks ago. It’s hard to find, but when you find a good barber, tip him well, and don’t let him retire, or get Parkinson’s. (Happened to my prior barber 😢.
I’m 49. I think I remember Clubman coming in a glass bottle 30ish years ago. For me, this is THE barbershop💈scent. But I will say, the smell out of the plastic bottle is pretty bad. Decanting into a glass bottle actually tames it quite a bit. Takes away that harsh chemical smell. Anyone else know what I’m talking about? 😂😂😂 I made my comment in the middle of the video and then you went into the glass bottle issue! I do think it smells better after a week or so in a glass bottle. More muted and less chemical.
Very nice Video Con👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼can’t go wrong with Pinaud it’s a classic one.. I think I got my in past watching Busta Shaves lol that’s was funny missed that guy… Best Regards Alan H
Hello James, thanks for taking the time to drop a quick note about our video. This week only, commencing October 24th, we will only be in-store on Wednesday 26th from 10am-6pm if that suits. Next week we are back to regular trading hours Wed-Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. Cheers, Con | The Stray Whisker
I shave with a Merkur 34C. Derby Extra blades. Barbasol. Witch Hazel. Some days I splash on Old Spice. Some days I use Clubman. I use those products because I want to look good and feel and smell like a man. Nothing else touches my face other than the kiss of a pretty woman or the tongue of my aussie sheperd.
In the US there is a hot sauce from Italy called Firelli. I comes in a really nice triangular glass bottle which is perfect for decanting Clubman. The best thing is the plastic dropper insert in the Clubman bottle fits perfectly into the Firelli bottle. Give it a try!
That is really nice I've been using Crystal hot sauce round heavy at the bottom tapers up nicely reduces the amount coming out. It's good to have a variety of bottles also uniformity.
Good to see you Con, I have not used Clubman but I have seen it in my local beauty supply store they only had one selection with no particular name yellow or maybe gold in color green label. Are you familiar with this one? What are your thoughts if you are. Take care.
A plastic bottle is also safer when dropped on the usually hard floor of a bathroom, this being said, I dropped the plastic bottle and it still broke and shattered - still safer I guess. Still, I miss the glass bottle - the plastic just feels cheap, keep plastic for large barber shop formats = I know... It will cost more.
I am thinking the Clubman of today has no relation to the Clubman of the past. for example the eua du quinine, contains no quinine...its not listed on the ingredients. tonaic water has quinine. eau du quinine does not. just alchohol fragrance and colors are what all pinaud products are made of.
Keep ANY fragrance in a decently cool, dark place... And as stated, glass is the best container. A good seal on top... And fragrances can last literally hundreds of years.
I recommend storing your aftershave in a amber or brown borosilicate glass reagent bottle. Use a black phenolic cap with rubber liner or you can use reagent bottle with a ground glass stopper. This is what I decant my aftershave into and the bottles will last a lifetime.
Yes. That’s the scent you are going for with this aftershave. Some call it “traditional” or “barber shop” or “classic” those are all selling words for “old man”. Plenty of people like it, others are put off by it. See for yourself and decide. No problem is it isn’t the product for you.
Don't use Clubman aftershaves myself, don't see a reason why: just cheap alcohol, overpowering fragrance and colouring. In essence torture for the skin.
And it totally stinks to. Not fond of the fragrance. I've had it, I used it. Didn't throw it away, just used it till it's completion, however will never buy the product ever again. Just don't much care for it.
Clubman's Bay Rum reminds me I'm still alive every time I use it.
Can’t argue with that!
Bracing and beautiful-my wife loves it.❤️
Just got myself a bottle and I can somewhat relate!
Pinaud Clubman original is my signature scent, and will be for the rest of my life!

Yes..I've used Clubman since the 1970s...Bay Rum is my fave...followed by Special Reserve and Vanilla!
Huge Clubman fan; keep multiple bottles at all times
I love Lilac Vegetal after shave. I learned to barely put any on really easy because a lot of people absolutely hate it. It was John Wayne's go to bottle.
I have pinaud clubman original, which I have had for years! And I think the original is the best!
Walking through the NYC new trace centers, I overheard a woman say "WHAT IS THAT AWFUL ODER?" I was weraing Clubman Musk
I just got the Clubman cognac neat, and Brandy spice. Very nice, mellow

Anyway, of all the bay rum scents I have had, Clubman is the best!
You sold me when you mentioned Napoleon iii. He was exiled to the place where I grew up called Chislehurst.
Great video Con. Informative and entertaining. Did not know this inexpensive line of products had such a storied history. Really enjoy your channel.
Glad you enjoyed it! All the very best, Con
I was always put off by the low price, assuming it was a cheap fragrance pretending to be a gentleman’s fragrance. Then I saw it at a barbershop, my barber used it on me and I loved it instantly!!
I have every single one of their products. I'm also hoarding bottles of Naturelle Sec since it was discontinued. I should have enough to last, lol.
I am a Clubman man. I also have a few of the Lustray aftershaves. Blue Spice is my current fave.
Same here. I second with Stetson
I' ve been a Clubman user (many of them) since the '70s

That’s just the alcohol evaporation
I empty them into old Stetson glass bottles.
I just started using Clubman aftershave. I like it because it's not overwhelming scentwise.
It’s certainly one of my favourites 👍🏼
Can't say I dig it. I much prefer Aqua Valva much better.
GOSTEI DA SUA RESENHA! EXPLICA MUITO BEM E DESCONTRAIDO!
I started Clubman regular a few weeks ago and I am hooked. Sampled the lilac vegital on my wrist a couple hours ago and too old lady smelling lol.
Very nice Video Con👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼can’t go wrong with Pinaud it’s a classic one..

I do like the blue cap on the firelli
Gotta try these!
I still have many in my mancave!

Does anyone know the light blue aftershave that us use in many barber shops. It has a nice clean fresh scent.
use a soju bottle for preservation.
yes, I'm a clubman

Special reserve , is my favorite by far. Vegetal , aka urinal cake smell. My least favorite .
Waht about Cognac neat?
Would refrigeration extend the life of after shaves?
just decant them into a glass bottle, that'll extend the life considerably

don't the plastic kills the product in uv light faster
I believe that is the case. It’s probably a good idea to store these products in a cool, dark place.
for sure
Just put it in the fridge
Kilroy was here
Does it smell like old man lol

@@danbasta3677 I do like the bay rum scent, which is why I’ve decanted it and use it as a spray in the bathroom
Only have tried the classic clubman took awhile to get used to will not buy another bottle after I’m done
It’s good to see what you like, and learn what you don’t like.
Just bought Clubmsn Musk. First shave....goergous!!!
Great
