It also identifies the construction of the tyre carcass before moulding, to differentiate between a standard car tyre , a high performance tyre or a commercial tyre that may have the same size , but different construction /tread compounds etc

Tires have a few other things on them that are equally important. And that is the Date Code. The date code tells the consumer what year and month that tire was made. It is mandatory by the Federal government for any tire sold in America. So if you are getting some really amazingly cheap price on your tires, check the day code. Could be they are a few years old and they are trying to get rid of them out of their inventory... The date code is made up of four numbers. The first two indicate what week it was made, while the last two numbers are the year.

Interesting. I figured they were to check alignment but also for roundness, but that was just a guess. Thanks for this video.

There is one thing that you should pay attention to and that is the DOT number on the side. It tells you the month and year of manufacture. Don’t buy tyres that have had a Long shelf life. If it says 0924 they are brand new.

From WC, so where do you mount the tire on a steel or alloy wheel using the colored dots?

One other very important indicator is the production date code. I never buy tires that are more than 6 months old.

In other words, the colored lines are a form of BAR CODE , for tires, colored lines can be stretched and deformed WITHOUT changing what the code says, as a BAR CODE CAN!!!?

They tried colored tires in the 50s but they just weren't anywhere near as durable as black tires. The issue was that black tires absorb heat much better and allows the rubber to flex more easily with less cracking and crumbling.

There are no perfumes added to a tire. You need to educate yourself kid
