I think this movie would have been much better if it actually addressed this. That so many people try to mask their own insecurities by this judgmental, fake self-confidence.
Noémi Tamás I think so, too. At the beginning I somehow thought it would go in that direction, so I believed this movie would spread a good message like "hey, we all have problems and insecurities and it's okay but we shouldn't try to make ourselves feel better by judging others but instead we should try to be the best we can" Needless to say that the movie didn't go with my expectations.
her trying to victimize herself the entire movie by saying “I’m ugly” ”I’m not like any other girl” trying to justify any of the shitty things she does is actually gross.
Calletano Fillspipe I feel like that’s realistic to a certain degree. There are some ugly people that treat and do horrible things to people cause they aren’t attractive despite no one treating them bad for their appearance
Calletano Fillspipe honestly it could have been a great (or at least good movie) if they just changed the end. Veronica stops being friends with her and instead spend more time studying or improving herself, the guy doesn’t date her, and redhead is left with no friends or boyfriend, having pushed them away with her crappy behavior.
yeezy yeezy just cause you don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen... I just cut a friend off cause he was doing that to me and I’m 18 and he’s 19.

I actually liked Veronica by the end of the movie. She grew as a person and became less and less of a characature as the movie progresses. Nothing and no one else in the movie does the same and it's really sad.
I think the issue heres is that movies and shows are pushing the boundaries of what we think. with 13 reason, instaibile, sierra. People think that bc the main characters are the main characters there supposed to be the " hero" but there NOT. we are NOT supposed to route for them, empathize with them yes but not route for them. people assume that sierra a loser bc she thinks shes " ugly" but shes a loser bc of her personality. she is the villain of this story. but that doesnt mean shes will still be the villain by the end of this story. for this type of movie you have to read between the lines not look at it face value.
My favourite line from this movie was Veronica telling Sierra, "your looks are the least ugly thing about you" But it also made me angry because, Sierra didn't even listen to her when she said that! SHE WAS STILL BLAMING VERONICA!!
As a conventionally attractive girl and the college “model/pageant girl”,,, I can say my friends have done this to me before and used them not being a drop dead gorgeous Hollywood star as justification. Like sis - DONT u get it ur personality reflects on ur looks more than anything. Then they’ll complain that I get attention from males (that are sometimes unwanted and creepy but that’s another story)and they don’t bc they don’t think they’re 10s UM- DONT u get it attention from males dosent mean shit if ur personality is trash bc you won’t be able to be in a relationship when ur toxic REGARDLESS OF WHAT U LOOK LIKE. Also the reason they don’t get attention is bc they’re closed off, egotistical, RUDE(I mean I’m like sarcastically blunt and bitchy but they’re ACTUALLY mean), and straight up INSANE. Not to mention they’re demanding Calvin Klein models in a college campus sis - most guys that look like that are taken GET OVER YOURSELF OMG INSECURE PPL CAN BE SO IGNORANT BYEXHHDHD
Isabella Palacio as an average person who has gotten a bit of attention from guys(unwanted mostly) I can agree here. It is not your looks that matter, it is your personality. Sure when I was younger I want to guys chasing after me sometimes, but that was just me being insecure and hella naïve. Also “Calvin Klein models on a college campus”👌 pure gold!
To be fair (not to justify their behaviour but to understand them better) I believe it’s about their insecurity. I personally feel bad for them. Doesn’t mean they aren’t having any problems just because their white.
I guess you've never seen any movie from the 80s. Guys acted like that all time in those movies and no one ever noticed anything was wrong with it. Like in 'Revenge of the Nerds', the nerd actually FUCKS this girl by tricking her into thinking he's her boyfriend. And when she finds out she's not mad and now she's "in love" with him. And then there's 'Sixteen Candles'...
@@kristinwhite4472 People did not think of it as a criminal act at the time, a lot of older people still get defensive when you criticize movies that they grew up. However, I assure you that men lying to women, stalking them, and posing as someone or something they aren't as a long-running trope in movies, and it always works out well for them in the end, even when there's sexual assault or something similar involved. Like I mentioned 'Sixteen Candles', where a nerd takes the main character's panties so his friends will think they had sex, and the hot guy who's starting to like the guy offers to 'trade' him his passed out drunk girlfriend to get her panties back for her. He puts her in his car, poses her for pictures, and gets a blow job from her while she's so drunk she doesn't know who she's with. This is all thought of as funny and harmless at the time, and often it was looked at like the girl deserved it for whatever reason, because she's drunk, because she's a bitch, because she humiliated a guy or hurt his feelings.
Exactly! At least try to look like you're trying to break your victim status. But no, instead put as little effort in your looks as possible and act like you're superior to anyone else, manipulate your romantic interest and then cry about the situation you created yourself
People who wrote this movie were probably like the main character. I met a few of those people. "I feel like I don't belong because everyone is trash but me." 🙄
I know right? I realised that if the genders were swapped, this would basically be an incel revenge fantasy where he screws over the chad, and sexually assaults the girl but still gets her in the end because unlike everyone else, he's a "nice guy".
But like honestly I feel like this movie is only gonna make girls who are "conventionally unattractive" feel even worse about themselves? Like this movie would be so cute if it showed the main character learning to love herself, and her getting the hot guy ORGANICALLY and him falling in love with her because of that?? Like this is just such a bad message to send to young girls with low self esteem!!! i hate it
Netflix actually does have a movie like that, it's called Dumplin'. It's everything this movie was trying to be but done well. I'd give it a watch if you want something that's a good message for girls (or individuals in general) that have low self-esteem.
why do bad movies like this always have literally just One person of colour who also happens to be the main character's personal hypeman / mascot thing ndjdjjd
It's like they add in that one person of colour who's not very vital to the plot just so they can have diversity points and appeal to a larger audience when in reality it does nothing. The POC sidekick is always an annoying stereotype. For example: if they're black they're sassy and ghetto, or if they're asian they're nerdy and smart. They do nothing for the plot... they're literally just... there. If they really gave a crap about all this "diversity" talk that's going on right now then the main character or a character that's actually important would be a unstereotyped POC, like "to all the boys i've ever loved before".
I feel like this is just insulting to conventionally unattractive ppl tbh. It's like "y'all must be so desperate for validation from pretty folks that you'll commit acts of sexual assault!" And that's fine because that's the only way an ugly person could ever get someone anyway...
at least it was only a kiss in this movie. having bad flashbacks to that one scene in revenge of the nerds where the main character raped one of the jocks girlfriends, but you know it's okay because she enjoyed it for some reason.
I've met ppl who have "Sierra Burgess" energy in real life and yeah, the ugliest thing about them was their personality. Also veronica was the best thing in the movie
Bruh same one of my ex friends used to go on all the time about how "ugly" and "fat" she is (she is none of those) and how no one wants to talk to her because of that and that's why she doesn't have any friends or a boyfriend but literally no one liked her because she was so incredibly rude, negative and stuck up and always shaming people for being poor and not intelligent and shaming people for not wanting to hang out with her because she's apparently ugly lol
Like thats the real ugly thing about them. That personality and talk more shit about any pretty, kind, and unselfish people. Like girl/boy...they did nothing to you or me. I like them and they see me as a friend lol. One of my ex friends were mad for just hanging with the "popular kids" just bc theyre popular lol- LIKE WHET
1) Romanticizing sexual assault against boys. 2) A disability being the butt of a joke. (I say this as a disabled person who was very hurt by this scene.) 3) Very unnecessary use of a slur. 4) Girls being written as petty hoes who have no life outside of wantin a man. 5) Stereotyping black people and giving them no life outside of being a white persons Robin. 6) The privliged daughter treating her loving and supportive parents like shit. (I say this as an abuse survivor that was also very hurt by this scene.) 7) Forgiveness without paying penance. 8) Boys being manipulated and abused but still somehow being "wrong". 9) The message that girls are innocent uwu who are always the victims. 10) The cringy ass writing. Need I continue?
Maybe, but I think LA have a lot less fat teens. I went to school in NYC and only 3 people were fat in my year (only one was obese and my year was only 110 students) and even in my college there was maybe only one fat person per class (I had only seen obese people here and there on my way to class). I know this is just my experience but I think people are generally thinner in near or in city areas.
Florence Adeosun i’m from california near LA and its an epidemic here. they should’ve at least had one more obese person at that school. the movie is still pretty unrealistic.
Florence Adeosun in LA my elementary, middle, high school there’s a good amount of bigger people and actually in my life I only met a few people that were naturally skinny and a few people
@@chrissys8996 I never said that most people are skinny, I said that there isn't that many fat people compared to, say, a midwestern state. Maybe you have a lower threshold for fat but someone could be 45 lbs heavier than Veronica and I wouldn't consider that person fat (neither would most doctors). Skinny and fat isn't a dichotomy. Also I didn't really look at the background extras much since they aren't the focus of the story, but looking at the school scenes again there are a few bigger extras in the movie.
I feel like I’d definitely watch that. Instead of it being “The ugly loner quirky girl goes on a wacky adventure to get the boy of her dreams,” it becomes “A teenage girl puts up with a toxic friend’s drama and betrayal and is gaslighted into forgiving her”
Yeah, I feel like the interesting part of the story is about Veronica. She goes from being a bully to then deciding to helping the person she bullied (I'm pretty sure they even become friends in the movie). Then, despite Sierra's rotten attitude and uncalled-for betrayal, Veronica still forgives her. I feel like this movie could examine the popular/unpopular kid dynamic in a new way.
I actually wound up really liking veronica tbh. She was relate-able as a flawed person that wasn't what she seemed and a female with a little actual depth. Sierra was literally just glorified NLOG.
One of these days I want a high school movie where it turns out the most popular girl is as popular as she is because she's genuinely, like, kind and pleasant. Meanwhile there can be a girl at school who gets straight A's and watches Doctor Who, and she thinks everyone dislikes her because of those things but really it's because she's just bitter all the time and constantly making snide judgmental comments at people. (So I guess kinda like this movie except, y'know... on purpose)
Depression still exists but I get what you're saying, seeing real teen struggles portrayed in a movie would be so nice, like an actual deep dive into mental health, self worth and lack of perspective would be so nice.. but I guess that's not happening
They are so out of touch that they believe that people act in real life like in Hollywood - if you're not a typical beauti no one will respect you. I often have problems to distinguish American actress because of how similar they're. With men it's a little bit better but still it's crazy
suga spice Not once have I seen a teen in a movie/tv show have school be the reason behind their stress, depression, anxiety, etc. Seriously, where are the kids stressing about college essays? AP exams? SATs? Trying to keep a good grade? Everyone in teen dramas are so focused on, well, dRaMa that I wonder if they even care about school at all? Wtf are their grades? How tf did Troy Bolton become VALEDICTORIAN?! HOW TF DID THAT DUDE FROM THE KISSING BOOTH GET INTO HARVARD?!
afootineachworld Woah, woah, it’s time we stop seeing white as the automatic default for attractiveness. Edit: And I’m sure you’re not as ugly as you think you are in real life. Remember, people see you differently than how you see yourself because you can’t see your personality with a mirror. Majority of your attractiveness comes from your personality. Also, there was some study that showed that others see you as 20% more attractive than you think you are.
I'm so glad you talked about how that was sexual assault. I had someone sexually assault me and then a friend tell me that it was justified because the person who did it just liked me and what she did was because of that, and I was being mean to HER for being angry because she's not "conventionally" attractive. Like, I am not conventionally attractive but I wouldn't touch or grab or kiss someone without their permission?? So thank you for addressing that cause honestly that's what made me the most mad at this movie. @netflix sexual assault isn't cute
At the end of the day, if you personally felt uncomfortable and as if there was no consent on Your end, then it was sexual assault. Don’t ever have someone try to downplay/justify the bad shit that has happened to you. What that girl did was fucked and you need to get rid of her AND your friend who was trying to justify the assault. So sorry what happened to you though 💗
If you were female and it was a guy who did this, then people would be screaming for his head. You are justified in being mad. It's sexual assault no matter the gender of the victim or the perpetrator. It pisses me off that sexual assault is treated like a god damn right of passage when it's a damn felony. You aren't mean, you have the right to feel violated and upset. It's not cute, it's cowardly and underhanded for this girl to make you feel unsafe and violated. If this is her definition of 'liking' then she needs psychological help. It's no different from a guy doing this to a girl. There is something seriously wrong with her. And your so-called friend.
my roommate's rapist kept saying "but i really really liked you" and his friend also kept saying "he just really likes you" like that does not make it okay. sexual assault is not justified by it being out of love.
@@cheriremily9360 please stop making it a competition. no one screams for female victims either. we get shunned and shamed and blamed as well. please dont pit victims against each other.
I’m rewatching this episode of Bad Movies And A Beat, and I just remembered the story my mom likes to tell. My mother is a very beautiful woman (and a great person as well), and she often receives positive attention. However When she was in high school, she was madly in love with this one guy. The dude was everything the creators of this film wanted Sierra to be - he was rather quiet, geeky, very intelligent, and not conventionally attractive. As my ma told me, he was not your classic definition of handsome. But what she also told me was that in her eyes he was the most gorgeous guy ever. My ma loved talking to him, being around him, asking him to help her with math. Ma said that he was a lovely, kind person, a little naive but open and gentle. And my mom loved his persona so much that it made a generally unattractive guy absolutely beautiful in her eyes. She would watch and admire him and, interesting enough, she was aware that he was not exactly pretty. But mom said she couldn’t help it, every feature of him was beautiful to her. Of course, life happened, people moved on with their lives. About 20 years after the graduation, my mom happened to meet this guy again. When she was telling me that she laughed a little and said something like: “I looked at him and thought “gosh, you are so not-good-looking and yet so breathtaking”. She was happy to meet this gentleman again and learn how he was doing. When my mom was sharing this story she was speaking with such fondness and adoration that I just thought wow. Years have passed, and she still was fond of this man. Her joy was infectious, and now I want to meet him too. Just to see what kind of man I should aspire to be She likes remembering him. I guess it was a big teaching moment for my ma about personalities and appearance. Honestly, what a shame. Sierra is a vile, disgusting individual who doesn’t deserve to be treated with kindness and forgiveness. She didn’t earn it And it’s especially infuriating when I have a life example of a non-conventionally attractive person who is actually lovely, so much so a woman still has a crush on him decades later.
The ending is just Sierra dreaming everyone forgave her. She's actually in some dark parking lot reminiscing the past (this movie). In actuality, she's turned into a murderer. She's a pathological liar who catfish people who end up dead. (Something like that) Thats a sequel I would watch.
She's shitty in many levels. She objectifies both Jamie and Veronica, instead of treating them like human beings she uses him to feel validated, to get attention, to feel sexual pleasure... all this without his consent (cause he's a thing she's using, consent isn't even a worry). and she uses Veronica, her appearance and her insecurities to get all that from Jamie (she gets to know her better, her background, her suffering... don't care, Sierra's feelings are more important). Then when they by chance end up actually kissing, she feels betrayed cause her toys are acting like human beings with feelings and needs without her permission, they're doing something from and for themselves and not for her benefit and she literally can't stand it. She punishes toy 1 by publicly humilliating her, and only cares about toy 2's feelings cause if he's angry it means she wont be getting more of that sweet attention and fictional relationship. That's not only disgusting but also disturbing. Sierra has serious issues, and both Jamie and Veronica have issues too and/or maybe just lack the emotional maturity to realise what's really going on. It makes zero sense that they're interested in being around her after all that shit show, and the dangerous thing is many other teenagers could fall into the trap of romanticizing that kind of toxic behaviour. "She ignored my needs, boundaries and feelings cause she wants me so bad, that's so romantic..." No, my dude.
I don't understand the whole , getting a 'boyfriend solves all problems' storylines. Like can't script makers just put the point out 'you have to love your self before you can love anyone else' and not have the person couple up at the end. Becoming a strong individual.
Can I just argue your point with, I have a boyfriend and I most definitely love him more than myself. But, we're helping each other love ourselves more, just slowly building it up
ikr! it’s like they try to excuse his race and sexuality as ‘personality traits’, instead of actually...you know...giving him real personality traits and real, complex emotions...
WHY DO THEY ALWAYS PORTRAY WRITERS AS PEOPLE WHO ARE OBSESSED WITH OTHERS WORK AND QUOTE THEM OFF THE TOP OF THEIR HEAD???? BRUH NOT EVERY WRITER IS LIKE THAT - a very pissed off writer who isn’t like that at all. My brain is stupid I have no mental capacity to do that
Except for in Stranger Things when she played Barb. But we barely knew anything about her character and she got killed off immediately after being hurt by her friend. So, yeah. Movie writers hate her.
One thing that makes me so mad about this movie is that the guy's little BROTHER was deaf and yet he did nothing when he found out she was faking it like from his perspective it would've looked like she was making FUN of him being deaf
That big dramatic moment where she's like "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE A TEENAGE blablabala" like dude. DUDE. 95% of teenagers look totally weird and dorky, that's FREAKIN NORMAL. Most people only sprout (if they sprout) around 19 or older, like. chill tf out. Trust me when I say that no one wants highschoolers to suddenly become "sexy" or super attractive or whatever the second they enter highschool asjdhjkads ew
She doesn't even have pimples ??? Like hello ??? I've been made fun of because i had pimples and this conventionally unatracttive girl doesn't have them ???
Rabbit love Sadly we went from one extreme to another, ( why can’t we have true equality?) we went from revenge of the nerds, to this horrible movie. Both promote the nice guy/girl and sexual assault. Sadly the pc culture seems to think evaluating women by stepping on men is progress.
I often thought about how this would have been a banned movie if it was portrayed by a boy instead of a girl. Like Shane Burgess is a Loser... would have been a stalker film.
i hate how appearance is a whole "superior" thing. no, janet, youre not better than someone for not "caring" about your looks. its called taking a shower and brushing that nest of a hair
I'm sick of people thinking because they don't care about their looks they are superior. Um no sis. Shows you don't love yourself to take care of yourself to look halfway healthy. You're not quirky. You're gross in the head and heart.
I actually disagree with you. Nowhere was it mentioned that Sierra didn’t shower or detangle her hair, and the notion that curly hair is unkempt is kinda not okay. Also the problem with Sierra was not that she didn’t take care of herself, but that she used her lack of conventional attractiveness as an excuse to be horrible to people. There’s nothing wrong with not giving a shit about being pretty. The problem is her ACTIONS of lashing out and hurting others out of insecurity and playing the victim. As much as I think it’s important to criticize Sierra, I also think it’s important that we criticize her accurately and fairly without resorting to calling her ugly which is completely besides the point.
How are you gonna claim that curly hair is the same as having a bird's nest? There is no implication anywhere that she didn't shower or brush her hair so miss me with this bullshit. Sierra had a nonending amount of problems you could have actually attacked rather than just being a shitty person and hate on her for her hairtype.
Honestly veronica should of been the main character. She has the most character development. She also has an interesting backstory with how her mom is. You also see why she is the way she is.
If they wanted to tackle how hard it is being “unattractive” they should’ve talked about, yes the whole dating situation but it should’ve been her 1. Not doing ANY of the AWFUL things she did and instead just discussing how annoying it is feeling pressurized to get into a relationship with someone because “everyone’s doing it” and realizing that if someone ain’t gonna give you the time of day just cause you’re not conventionally pretty then they ain’t worth fretting over and 2. Not ending up with the guy in the end and realizing it’s okay to be single in high school cause at the end of the day you’re gonna graduate and probably go to a different university than the guy anyway and you can go without having the stress of a log distance relationship on your head ya know? Just a thought
This was a horrible movie. This one and "Tall Girl" both felt like they were meant to be so moving, but were so fake and the main characters were so dis-likable and shallow. Like, she really has the gall to be like "I knew you wouldn't talk to me if you knew who I was" when she only kept talking to him because she found his selfies hot. It would have been so much better if they had started chatting and she liked him BEFORE she saw the selfies. Because let's face it, if he was average looking or below she wouldn't have been going on about how they have a "connection" and kept talking to him. She would have blocked him.
That's such a good point and I agree! In my opinion, if they had gone as far as to have them go to the same school, it could have totally been the teen rom com it seemed like it wanted to be. If she already had a crush on him, they sat by each other in a class or two, whatever -- if they already knew one another then it could have been the forever cheesy but still oh so enjoyable, "You looked at me but you didn't see me" kind of story. And, of course, if they had not made her character the horrendous person she is
SOME of us got rejected by the guy we asked to homecoming because we're ugly (literally what happened) and you don't see us running around catfishing and sexual assaulting people.
@Katelyn Wilson true, but anyone with half a brain would know that it's not realistic. You don't have to go to Public school to know that when you're a manipulative jerk, people don't like you. and they most often won't forgive you, especially when you don't apologise 😂
I'm homeschooled lmao. But I do agree with the homeschool stereotype that most people believe in bc I've seen so many kids and parents exactly like that.
I had high hopes for this movie when I saw the trailer (don’t know why lmao) but I ended up hating Sierra 😭😭 like she’s an awful person but she gets forgiven bc she wrote a song??? Nah pass
Veronica was the only self aware person in my opinion, like she knew that helping Sierra trick that guy was wrong, but when Sierra went to far, she was aware of it. Veronica was definitely my favorite character
why is nobody talking about that one scene where veronica's boyfriend was talking about how he was gonna manipulate her into sleeping with him by knocking her self confidence and sierra saw that and didn't do anything about it
As someone who has undergone some form of sexual assault by every man I've been with (except my husband), I didn't understand that this movie was bad the first few times I watched it. I genuinely didn't realize that what she was doing was sexual assault. And that is a horrifying realization. It causes me to wonder how many people that like and defend this movie have sexual trauma. Why movies like this continue to be made is honestly mystifying.
Brooooo i thought the same thing- everytime the office called my english teacher would answer in an old english accent and say something like "fair is foul and foul is fair"

and like, you can be insecure without making everyone around you suffer because of it ffs. But no, somehow shes the NON-Vain character? She's a TEXTBOOK narcissistic.

At the beginning I somehow thought it would go in that direction, so I believed this movie would spread a good message like "hey, we all have problems and insecurities and it's okay but we shouldn't try to make ourselves feel better by judging others but instead we should try to be the best we can"

They think their white privilege card is revoked because of their looks. Like sis you’re still white 🤷🏽♀️
To be fair (not to justify their behaviour but to understand them better) I believe it’s about their insecurity. I personally feel bad for them. Doesn’t mean they aren’t having any problems just because their white.
Why bring being heterosexual into this, them being straight is so irrelevant even if they were gay they would both be just as unbearable.
Blk Barbie it’s somewhat relevant tbh. Being gay would give them a feel of oppression ,which they don’t have any for being straight ( sexuality wise)
if the gender was flipped, this would be a crime thriller
I guess you've never seen any movie from the 80s. Guys acted like that all time in those movies and no one ever noticed anything was wrong with it. Like in 'Revenge of the Nerds', the nerd actually FUCKS this girl by tricking her into thinking he's her boyfriend. And when she finds out she's not mad and now she's "in love" with him. And then there's 'Sixteen Candles'...
moonlily1 OMG IM A YOUNG PERSON SO I HAVENT WATCHED ALOT OF 80s MOVIES BUT GEEZ THEY LET THAT SLIDE?! THATS CRAZY

I know right? I realised that if the genders were swapped, this would basically be an incel revenge fantasy where he screws over the chad, and sexually assaults the girl but still gets her in the end because unlike everyone else, he's a "nice guy".
This is a gender swapped remake of an old play and yes that's basically the plot
that "herbert the fly" speech was more dramatic than this entire movie

But like honestly I feel like this movie is only gonna make girls who are "conventionally unattractive" feel even worse about themselves? Like this movie would be so cute if it showed the main character learning to love herself, and her getting the hot guy ORGANICALLY and him falling in love with her because of that?? Like this is just such a bad message to send to young girls with low self esteem!!! i hate it

or even her realizing that she doesn’t even need the validation from the “hot guy” to love herself would’ve been good.
Your movie doesn't sound better at all.
Netflix actually does have a movie like that, it's called Dumplin'. It's everything this movie was trying to be but done well. I'd give it a watch if you want something that's a good message for girls (or individuals in general) that have low self-esteem.
And not only feel bad for themselves but also justify bad behavior by "i did it cause im ugly". It is completely fucked up D:
why do bad movies like this always have literally just One person of colour who also happens to be the main character's personal hypeman / mascot thing ndjdjjd
Dag you know what I never realize that .. I’m gonna start paying attention to that
Facts. Even in Tall Girl lol
Most of Netflix movies been doing that a lot lately and its annoying.
@@Euina yes. I agree.

I have never hated a movie so much in my life.
also i noticed that sierra is like THE ONLY ‘FAT’ PERSON AT THAT SCHOOL?! LIKE HUH. this movie is literally sooo unrealistic LMFAOOO

I would have honestly preferred this from Veronica’s perspective
I agree Veronica has the only real character development. She also has an interesting backstory with her mom being in denial and kind of toxic.
I actually wound up really liking veronica tbh. She was relate-able as a flawed person that wasn't what she seemed and a female with a little actual depth. Sierra was literally just glorified NLOG.

Zoe Me I’m sorry for what happened to you and I hope you’re doing ok now 💕 it’ll get better

I’m rewatching this episode of Bad Movies And A Beat, and I just remembered the story my mom likes to tell. My mother is a very beautiful woman (and a great person as well), and she often receives positive attention.
However
When she was in high school, she was madly in love with this one guy.
Just to see what kind of man I should aspire to be
She likes remembering him. I guess it was a big teaching moment for my ma about personalities and appearance.
Honestly, what a shame. Sierra is a vile, disgusting individual who doesn’t deserve to be treated with kindness and forgiveness. She didn’t earn it
And it’s especially infuriating when I have a life example of a non-conventionally attractive person who is actually lovely, so much so a woman still has a crush on him decades later.
Holy shit my heart, this too innocent for me
Best comment story ever. This is really too sweet. Every guy should aspire to be your mom's high school crush because yes!
i love this 🥺💗
aww this is really sweet!
Wow his personality matches with my crush really well😳😳😳
The ending is just Sierra dreaming everyone forgave her. She's actually in some dark parking lot reminiscing the past (this movie). In actuality, she's turned into a murderer. She's a pathological liar who catfish people who end up dead. (Something like that) Thats a sequel I would watch.
Whoa. The creativity jumped out!
NETFLIX THIS IS WHAT KIND OF MOVIE WE WANT, PERIODT
It’s because she’s in the upside-down, from stranger things. She forgot her name is Barbara.
@Caitlyn Kolfholz ohhh that’s makes sense
That
She started acting more like a villain in the making. Especially her angry and jealous face when he kissed the "wrong" girl

Sierra had a nonending amount of problems you could have actually attacked rather than just being a shitty person and hate on her for her hairtype.

honestly let’s be real, if this had been real life then Sierra’s little “Quasimodo” speech would have actually gotten her bullied WORSE 💀
Framing an average-to-pretty girl as 'ugly' is so damaging for girls' self-esteem too...
Her black friend was the best part of the movie tbh, he was the most normal next to Veronica
Dude I *loved* him.
He was the only character I liked the whole way through
Right
he should’ve been the main character
This movie is like an episode of Catfish except we see the catfish’s side lmao
Can we pls DITCH these fake highschool genres? We all know real highschool is nothing like this.
Also...
You're funny af i laike you!
Jamie deserved more... He was the only completely good character
That's weird to say about a character played by Noah Centipede 🤔
"Oh, I'm throwing hands and pressing charges!" My favorite quote from a content creator.
Lmao at least she’s not wearing size 13 Nike’s. Guys c’mon.
MENS size 13 Nike's
@@cora8724 beat that
When you said, "Noah Centi-NEGRO", I almost choked on my rice
Noah Centinopolis! 😆

Tata,is that you?

Please do "The Kissing Booth" or "The Perfect Date"
Kissing booth was disturbing
The kissing booth was SO BAD lmao!
The holy grail of Netflix bad movies. 😌
@@lovesplus3879 bad and creepy as fuck. both guys acting as protectors of the girl's sexuality, and the dude with the anger issues... wtf.
Damn! Both of those movies were a masterpiece regardless of certain flaws
"I dOn'T cArE aBoUt My LoOkS"
Chill, you have toothpaste on your face
Last time I was this early Simon Dominic was the King of Hip Hop
The "You wore that? Okay" comment got me dead, everyone in my High School was like that
The people who wrote this were homeschooled 😂😂😂 this seems like it's a wattpad story written by a middle class homeschooled white kid. 🤦🏽♀️
They are making so many cringe wattpad romance movies like I cannot anymore they are ruining the genre 🤢
Why do you say a homeschooler wrote this??? I have met SOOOOOO many obsessive, unrealistic, and weird public schoolers.
Us normal homeschoolers don’t claim them
@Katelyn Wilson true, but anyone with half a brain would know that it's not realistic.
Nah pass
OMG Same
All Netflix movies have great trailers. The movies make a 180 real quick because of the shallow plots.
I loved the trailer and had high expectations :(
I wanted to watch it because it had Barb from Stranget Things in it and I was so excited, but I'm so glad I didn't see it
Thanks to this series, I’m now inspired to watch bad movies and force my friends to watch them with me. It’s gonna be a thing. Thank you Kennie
Finally someone who picks up on the sexual assault!
If the roles were reversed people would have gone cray cray
- sips tea-
Veronica was the only self aware person in my opinion, like she knew that helping Sierra trick that guy was wrong, but when Sierra went to far, she was aware of it. Veronica was definitely my favorite character
Oh yeah I also forgot sierra’s friend (the black guy) he’s also one of my favorite character too because he’s kinda cool
why is nobody talking about that one scene where veronica's boyfriend was talking about how he was gonna manipulate her into sleeping with him by knocking her self confidence and sierra saw that and didn't do anything about it
That kiss scene made me really uncomfortable omg
Kennie's sudden country accent when talking about her dead fly 😂😂
“She has a black friend, they always do” 😂😂💀
As someone who has undergone some form of sexual assault by every man I've been with (except my husband), I didn't understand that this movie was bad the first few times I watched it. I genuinely didn't realize that what she was doing was sexual assault. And that is a horrifying realization. It causes me to wonder how many people that like and defend this movie have sexual trauma. Why movies like this continue to be made is honestly mystifying.
like, this is one of those movies where i ask myself "if the protagonist's gender was swapped, would this shit still fly?"
NO!
RIP Herbert the fly.

You'll be missed buddy😢😢
When you said “who talks like that taking quotes from poetry” im like sweetheart you haven’t met my english teacher
yeah, i hang a lot with writers and they do be like this sometimes. And parents are weird, so a writer dad... I mean...
Brooooo i thought the same thing- everytime the office called my english teacher would answer in an old english accent and say something like "fair is foul and foul is fair"
I'm a German teacher and I do.
I was literally just sitting down to eat and looking for something to watch LMAO
Oh my god me too
Lol same
Yo me tooo
When you first started that eye shadow I was questioning it. But then you slapped on that winged eyeliner and it looked amazing
Kinda tired of the "father daughter quoting people to each other" trope
paige mckinnie me too
“Noah Centinegro” I actually gasped. DONOT
I knew Herbert wasn’t gonna live long once you named him Herbert. Poor baby lost the will to live with that name
Tbh Kendall In elementary and middle school I was bullied for being tall. Then I come to high school and their is people taller then me so in the end the extinct giraffe found her people
Veronica deserves a movie bc she’s the only character that showed true development in the film
Your voice was so calm but then got so powerful and menacing when you said “it PISSED ME OFF”. I almost fell out of my chair-
