    Thx for the video. I couldn’t decided between the two so I left the store and came to this video 😂. I just don’t want to spend too much on a jack I’ll rarely use.

    I like your comparison. We make a few upgrades for those jacks. Our skid plate helps to keep the main frame rails straight, which is where we found the jack flexing under load. Even on the larger jacks the frame rails can end up looking like a banana, then they bend and fail.

    Good effort but not smart to use a 1.5 ton to lift a Tahoe. Made to lift cars, not trucks.

      Cool video, but my thoughts as well.
      The old Pittsburgh must be real solid because if it's still functioning after being abused by lifting a pickup truck for the last 3 years, I'm impressed!

      Unless each corner of a truck weighs 3000 lb, the jack ought to work if you use it on a smooth and level surface.
      That said, I have a Chevy S10 and bought a two-tone Daytona with the Flintstone roller upfront, so, do as I do, not as I say. 😁

    great review!! curious if the aluminum side plates on the new Daytona are thicker than the Pitts.? Wondering if that’s why it twists less ie your comment????
    thanks!!

    • @hunterholzer
      @hunterholzer  6 місяців тому +1

      They are the same thickness. It is most likely the front wheel setup being wider and securing each plate better

    Although I am trying to get the most heavy-duty lightest set up for handling purposes, would you go with the Daytona 1 1/2 Racing Aluminum Jack vs. the 2 Ton same except for front-wheel set up for stability?

      Go for the 2 ton aluminum

    you right about that 1.5 tons Pittsburg. I had to use so much force to life up 1 corner of a passenger car and its not that heavy. It's so annoying to use my entire body weight to push down on the handle just to get it up move. If that Daytona pumps easier, i am go grab the 2 tons

    Should be perfect for a 2006 Matrix. I'm so over using the 🚗 scissor jack for maintenance and repairs.

    Whats really interesting is the front wheels of a Daytona 2 ton is similar to the Pittsburgh 1.5 ton. I personally like the wider wheels vs. the center roller style for wider stability and less friction so the rollers can move forward easier when reaching the max height. Was the length of the handles the same for both 1.5 jacks? For only $30 more, I think I would pay it. I doubt they are exactly the same. One may use cleaner hydraulic fluid, better ball bearings, or a simple o-ring. Someone should have a head-to-head with these two under a commercial hydraulic press. However, it doesn't mean anything if they both pass the 1.5 ton test. Is the one that passes the 4000lbn any worst than the one that passes the 4100lb test? It would be nice to see how and under what circumstances floor jacks fail.

    • @hunterholzer
      @hunterholzer  Рік тому

      I agree, the width on the Daytona probably helps reduce the twisting motion.
      The jack handles are the exact same length and everything, except the paint color.
      Hydraulic jacks do have built in safety valves so you can't jack something so heavy it explodes the jack. I'd imagine they both stop lifting at a similar weight.

    Glad to see somebody push the jack in review vs picking something way under weight if max and at it lifts good

  • @unitedwestanddividedwefall3521

    Is the 1.5 Daytona enough to lift the front end of a full size sedan like an impala?

      It's like 3000 lbs so yea it's pretty tough a 2 ton is 4k lbs and 3 ton 6k lbs
