    When you're in a tight spot I've come to find that it's actually safer to have a few pieces of wood that are large enough to put underneath the jack rather than on the jack itself. This is definitely far more stable but can still be a bit hairy

    • @FOZ23
      @FOZ23 2 роки тому +1

      I always thought that the wood was to prevent wearing. So it wouldn't be metal on metal.

    The 4 ton is now the same price as the 3 ton low profile long reach, making the 3 ton low profile long reach the obvious choice. Or better yet, save $60 and just get the 3 ton low profile. While the long reach might seem insignificant, it does allow the jack to go higher, which is important for many. No more using wood blocks to get that extra height. And check out the Pittsburgh branded jacks, which are practically identical to these new multi colored daytonas for less coin

    If I had to make the choice. I would have went for the 3 ton long reach low profile. Though the lowest height is marginal but sometimes just a half inch can make a difference. What I do like is the higher 24inches. Works real well with the 6 ton Jack stands. And when I am working on the ground under a vehicle. It is nice to have that extra room without having to raise it in multiple stages to get the height I need. That is my own opinion. You may not need that aspect of it. I do.

    Hey Justin, my names Gregg. Just finished watching your video on you deciding to purchase your Harbor Freight 4ton extrem green Daytona floor jack. You ask the question, if we thought you chose the right floor jack. Really just a couple of 3 things that you need to consider when making that decision. #1: Cost How much can you afford to spend on a floor jack? #2: What is your intended use for this new floor jack? Are you going to be working on just your 2 car & that's all? Or are you doing side jobs @ night & on weekends? Or are you taking it to a full blown garage. Also what type vehicles are you going to be lifting (low ground clearance vehicles, pickup truck, 4x4's)? #3: Last but not least, warranty. I could be mistaken but I believe 1yr is the longest warranty any of the Daytona floor jacks have except for the YELLOW Daytona Supper Duty 3ton floor jack which has a 3yr warranty. That's the same jack that Snap-on tried taking them to court on copyright infringement. Snap-on didn't win. Thank you for your channel. Gregg Muse

    I bought my current jack almost 40 years ago before there were Harbor Freight stores, from a store that sold imported tools. It's a Chinese heavy duty jack, & just needs new seals. It's done everything ive asked of it over the years. But the identification label is long gone, and finding the right seal kit near impossible. I paid $55, which, adjusted for inflation is around $150. So the 3 ton on sale looks like the best fit for my needs. Nothing I own weighs 8000 lbs.
    Because they're low profile, a wood block can be usually be added, giving the jack extra lift distance.

    I bought one recently and can say I noticed the low profile one is worse imo as it only goes about an inch lower where i cannot fathom a situation where the regular 3 ton daytona wouldn't fit but secondly the low profile one pumps up about 30-40% slower and for anyone who regularly works under a car you know this is the biggest factor in buying these lifts.

    I have a quick jack that I bought from Harbor Freight with the quick pedal in the back. It does meet the frame quicker, however because of the lift rate, it is hard to jack up if you are lifting a heavier vehicle. I don’t see that jack offered anything from Harbor Freight. For smaller cars it’s great, not so much for full size cars, or trucks.
    The jack that you’re showing looks to be better than the one that I purchased, for heavier vehicles.

    Everybody says the low profile, long reach 3 ton is great. I just bought one and can't believe how slow it lifts. It must take 25 strokes to reach full height. 👎

    I recommend putting Harbor Freight Coupons App on your phone, it's 3rd party, NOT the official HF APP.. every coupon in US updated constantly, "add to cart" all the coupons you want including your free item, they scan your phone, never cut a coupon again! (I'm not affiliated lol)

    What value could we place on the super-duty? I’m shopping now, and wondering if super duty might translate to better quality (less chance of it breaking down)? Or do floor jacks tend to be trouble free anyway, so super duty would be meaningless outside of a busy shop? One of the things I hate about my old jack is when you try to lower it down onto the jackstands, it always comes crashing down (there is no slow).

    What do you do when you jack at the pinch weld? Use a special slotted pad?

    • @JustinDowDIYcentralhighway
      @JustinDowDIYcentralhighway  5 років тому

      Nope. Pinch weld should hold up and it's under the car where you'll never see it so if it gets a little scratched or dented oh well. nature of the game. Not going to see it anyway. Cheers!

    • @OUSWKR
      @OUSWKR 5 років тому +2

      If it’s designed to be the lift point for the vehicle then the pinch weld will usually hold it. Now if the pinch weld is completely rotted out (Chevy Venture & Nissan Sentra) come to mind you have bigger issues like your car folding in half if you get hit hard.
