It's so pretty! A little jewel to be sure. Thanks for sharing your journey on this piece needing to walk away & at the end trusting the process and yourself.
Loved the images of birds with flowers. Kindly consider to get the bird full image prior peeling the napkin and paste on the cabinet surface. Meaning extra eyes on positioning on the image against the inner frame edges.Tq.
I’m a new subscriber, after watching your bench video - and now this! It’s a joy to watch your creative process. Thanks for sharing your artistry with us.
Sometimes walking away and letting the plan stew in your mind for awhile is the best way to handle a stubborn piece. You certainly nailed it on this one!
You have a new fan! I love this piece, before and after, the colors are divine and the napkins lovely. Watching your process is fascinating and I have gotten a lot of interesting and helpful information from you videos (2 so far). I love seeing work being done in Europe and it's fun following your fun with paint and brushes! My compliments for a really stunning result in this piece.
Hi BJ, this is amazing and right down my alley as I love decoupaging with napkins (least expensive, ha, ha). I can't believe I missed this video. I thought I had watched all of your videos. I will look at your list again. this is an absolutely beautiful cabinet. You matched colors absolutely wonderfully! I love the final outcome! Beautiful work, BJ! have a great week.
I'm happy to see you posting so many new videos regularly again, I had missed keeping up with you. I have to say I'm always extremely attracted to your pieces and your painting style, more than most other DIY furniture painters. It does seem that you are enjoying and feel quite comfortable living in Denmark, a life altering experience I'm sure. Miss the USA? With all the political tumult going on here, you are lucky to be on the outside of the fray. Keep up the good work, I'll be sure to be keeping up more frequently now.
Hi Sydni and thanks for your kind words. I am settling in here in Copenhagen. It’s a beautiful city and easy to get around. I miss my friends and family and I miss having everything I need at my fingertips but I’m figuring things out and every day gets a little more comfortable. Thanks so much for your support and for watching.
This is the first time I have seen your video your project came out fantastic beautiful I used to do things like this many moons ago you have inspired me again beautiful job
You design and paint the most beautiful pieces ❤️ I really admire your originality and techniques. Thank you for helpful hints! Your editing has really been elevated. Having the explanations written is awesome 😎 As usual, I LOVE ❤️ this piece!!!
So beautiful! I really like your blending technique. I am going to try it. I definitely struggle with blending, but this technique makes more sense to me.
I struggled with blending for a while until one day it just clicked. Although some days I still struggle! Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help in any way.
New subscriber! Just came over from DIYagogo! The jewelry box you did on there was great! I love this cabinet- boy that’s a lot of work but so worth it!!!
Thanks for the subscribe Hannah. I really appreciate it. I never make things easy on myself when it comes to painting furniture that’s for sure. Thank you also for your kind words.
Gorgeous! Thank you ! Love that you’re to the point but don’t leave out important details. Would it work out ok to do all the painting first , then decoupage the napkins on ? Seems it might be easier than going in with the painting of the detailed part afterwards. I appreciate this gorgeous idea ❤
You can do all of the painting first. Just keep in mind that especially when working with napkins the color underneath the decoupage should be white to keep the colors of the napkin true. I don’t make sample boards before I video. I record my process mistakes and all. What you get is a try to life process video where I often would have done things differently or made things easier on myself. 😄
Wowzer. This is an incredible piece! I have been asking every furniture artist this question and no one answers me. This piece may be THE answer! So many artists start with a base coast and then.... you never see it again. My question is, “Would the piece look the same without the base coat?” But I see here that you specifically went all the way back to the summer crush. But I still do have the question. If you didn’t want the summer crush to show, did the base coat add anything? That is, would the piece look different had you not put the summer crush down! I see so many start with a color but by the time they’ve added all the layers there’s little evidence of the base coat. I haven’t started yet, because I only moved here in November and it’s taking me some time to gather everything, organize it and to find things I want to paint. (I lost my job in August, packed up while working my last two weeks, and instead retired. My house is 500 sqft smaller than my previous house. Transitions take a lot more time than I realized!) I will be starting using my own furniture so that my learning curve is on MY stuff and after all, it’s just paint like you said! 🤪😜 I love your channel. Some may find me super intense watching your channel but I love your vision! You’ve taught me a LOT! Thank you!
First- I’m sorry you lost your job but sounds like you’re making the best of it. Second- I totally understand transitions. We sold our house and bought a townhouse which is half the size. Then I moved overseas to join my husband while he finishes his job. I live in the city with no car and in an apartment. So I get it. Third- let’s see if I can answer your question. Whenever I base coat it is usually with the intention of distressing back to let some of that color come through as I did with this piece. However- and I can only speak for myself- I don’t always know where my project will end up. So the base coat I started with might not be visible in the end and probably doesn’t make a difference. My guess is if I didn’t want summer crush to come through when distressing- I wouldn’t have used it and the end result would have been the same or pretty similar. Very often when I’m painting live or in a video I’ll say that I used a certain color but that you could probably leave it out and get the same effect. For me- I’m always experimenting when I paint and sometimes I change direction or something isn’t turning out the way I like so I have to change course. I suspect a lot of us paint that way. I think a lot of it just depends on how you’re using your paint also. If you’re using a lot of water when blending or watering your DIY Paint down before applying it, your base coat will most definitely show through. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks so much for your support and for watching. I really do appreciate it.
That’s a valid question. I don’t always know where my projects are headed. I started with the orange thinking I’d be distressing and wanted the orange to come through. As the project developed I decided I didn’t need a heavy distress so ended up not seeing the orange. Thank you for watching.
I love your videos. Watching your painting process is so inspiring and makes me want to go hunt for furniture to junk up!!! What brushes are you using in your videos? I’d like to get some like that.
Thank you for your kind words. I’m kind of all over the place with brushes. I use the French Tip, Lil Frenchie and Dusty Brush from Paint Pixie a lot. I’m not super brand loyal with brushes and just use what I have. I’m hoping to add some brushes to my website when I get that back up and running upon my return to the US this summer.
I would love to know if you have any recommendations on how and where we can get napkins like that in the US. I know this sounds like a totally stupid question, but I have never seen any paper napkins similar to those here. . . I could also not be looking hard enough as well 🤔🤪
It’s just my process. I let every project evolve. I video and share the entire process and don’t edit anything out. I don’t do a project and work out the kinks then do another for video. Sometimes for me, just getting a color on the furniture helps me see where it should go. Much like un-whiting a canvas.
Love the bohemian blue ! Blue is my favorite color ❤
It’s a great color!
It's so pretty! A little jewel to be sure. Thanks for sharing your journey on this piece needing to walk away & at the end trusting the process and yourself.
I tend to be all negative nelly halfway through any project. I think it always makes the end result that much more rewarding. Thanks for your support!
Loved the images of birds with flowers. Kindly consider to get the bird full image prior peeling the napkin and paste on the cabinet surface. Meaning extra eyes on positioning on the image against the inner frame edges.Tq.
It’s a repeating pattern so inevitably some birds were going to be cut off.

Welcome!! Thanks for subbing and thanks for taking the time to watch. It means so much to me to have the support.
This is stunning! The colors you used are gorgeous!❤
Thank you
Sometimes walking away and letting the plan stew in your mind for awhile is the best way to handle a stubborn piece. You certainly nailed it on this one!
It’s funny because I didn’t feel like I nailed it until I was staging it for photography. Once I looked at it through the camera I decided I liked it.
You did such a great job of blending. I would never be able to guess all the wonderful colors you used! I really love that napkin!
Thank you.
It’s magnificent!!
That napkin is gorgeous!

WOW! Beautiful ♥️
Thank you
Beautiful piece
Thank you so much.
Love love LOVE it! And thank you for sharing that it took a few days to decide the next steps. Needed to hear that it’s not just me!
This is the norm for me. I’m a slow painter who needs time during a project and definitely time between projects. I can’t crank out projects.
Love love love this!!!
Thank you so much. 😘
Wow! Just wow!!
I wasn’t sure at first where you were going but wow is it ever beautiful!
Well I wasn’t really sure where it was going either! Thank you for the compliment.
@@JunkdUp It really is a gorgeous piece.
Just beautiful!! Worth rewatching a couple more times.
Thank you so much.
Gorgeous!!! Thank you

Thanks for all the kind words Lisa. And especially noticing my editing 😉. I’ve been working hard to learn new editing skills.
Gorgeous
Love this so much!!!
Thank you
I love it BJ! Great tips! Your color blending is so GOOD! 😍❤
Thank you 😊
Absolutely beautiful. The way you added the different layers of color and decoupage was awesome!
Thank you so much!

loved it thank you
Thanks for watching.
I guess I'm not understanding why we did orange and then covered it with pink ?!
That’s a valid question. I don’t always know where my projects are headed. I started with the orange thinking I’d be distressing and wanted the orange to come through. As the project developed I decided I didn’t need a heavy distress so ended up not seeing the orange. Thank you for watching.

Very nice 🌹

This is just incredible! How durable is the decoupage for cleaning?
It is sealed so cleaning with a dry cloth is fine. As with all painted furniture I wouldn’t recommend chemical cleaners or heavy duty scrubbing.
I would love to know if you have any recommendations on how and where we can get napkins like that in the US. I know this sounds like a totally stupid question, but I have never seen any paper napkins similar to those here. . . I could also not be looking hard enough as well 🤔🤪
I'm confused why the orange was even put on.
It’s just my process. I let every project evolve. I video and share the entire process and don’t edit anything out. I don’t do a project and work out the kinks then do another for video.

Not sure what you were going for here. I don't get it.
I wasn’t going for anything. I just create what I feel like. The person who bought it got it and loved it. Have a great day
