HOW TO DECOUPAGE FURNITURE

- Today I'm sharing HOW TO DECOUPAGE FURNITURE in these Curb-Shopped Nightstands! In the past, I've decoupaged furniture with napkins and tissue paper but this was the most effortless paper I've used AND it can adhere with something you already have on hand! I've included the start-to-finish tutorial but if you'd like to jump right to the decoupage chapter is at 13:57

They turned out beautifully
I'm trying my first project and I just loved watching this video and I was amazed with the color of these tables they are absolutely beautiful. I watched to get information on the decoupage rice paper to use on my desk. Thank you for the enjoyable episode.
I never would have thought of using the coloured paint or papers you used. Definitely is making me go out of my comfort zone. Love your videos.
Wow that is absolutely beautiful.

Just beautiful!!!!!
Thank you so much!
Wonderful use of color
Thanks so much 😊
I really wasn’t sure the apricot color was for me, but I was wrong! Once you added that decoupage and pulls, I was hooked!! You’re an artist! Thanks for the inspiration! ❤️❤️
Thanks Kimberlee! 🥰

@SalvagedInspirations Just getting started with painting furniture so learning all I can 😊
Rose gold they are!!!
I think so too! 😄
You made these bedside tables look amazing 👏 And the colour Apricot is soooo on trend right now. I just want to give you a great tip on decoupaging: I've found, through trial and error, that the iron - on method is by far the best way to apply your paper to the surface you're decoupaging, especially if the surface is flat like the drawers you're decoupaging now All you need to do is brush 2 - 3 coats of your decoupage medium ie. glue, Mod Podge, or the Dixie Belle stuff that you're using here, and then let the glue (or whatever you're using) dry completely. Then plug in your iron and make sure that it's not on steam (I just empty the water out of the iron and set it to no - steam) and then you tear off a sheet of baking parchment and place it over the decoupage paper that you've placed over your surface. Now you just iron over the baking parchment with the iron set to a high heat, and the decoupage glue will melt again and stick the decoupage paper to the surface, but with no wrinkles or air bubbles. It looks really professional, and it's easy. There are lots of videos on UA-cam about this Iron - On method, so check out some of them and you'll see what I mean. Love from Amanda Jones in Australia.
Came from your Pinterest! Beautiful quality video tutorial. Subbed!
Thanks Angela! So happy you found me here!
How beautiful are these
Thanks... and thanks for your suggestion! XOXO
Thank you beautiful ♥️👍👏
Beautiful 😍
thanks Lily! XOXO
Beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing
Thanks Sophia!
Wow, those were beautiful! I’m gonna try the decoupage paper myself!
Thanks Nanette! I hope you give it a try... super easy and fun! 😊
The rice papers are great, so much easier to use than tissue or napkins (yes, you said that too!) Beautiful finish!
They really are and thanks Gwen! 😄
Love it. I'm getting ready to do my first decoupage on an end table. I was surprised that you could just use some top coat. I already went out and purchased Mod Podge. Now I don't even need it! I'm glad I watched this. I learned a lot. Thank you
Good instructions
Omg that's a Willow Tree figurine by Susan Lordi, I've been collecting them for years, what an awesome find... by the way absolutely LOVE your work!!!
thanks and yes! I've seen those figurines before but I wasn't sure if it was a collectable! She's in my garage right now but I should clean her up and bring her in! 💕
This is gorgeous! Great colours. Love the tip about putting tape on the handles and marking the tape 👏👏👏
Thanks and glad it was helpful!

Thank you! 🤗
WOW!
Very pretty. You make it look so easy.
Thank you! 😊
Fresh and pretty. More decoupage videos please!!!!
Okay, thanks for the suggestion Janet! XOXO
I guess I'm dated, I loved the hardware and drawer moulding detail. That hardware could have been shined up and re-used.
Me too!
Gorgeous! I love those. The prep work was a lot! But proves to be worth the effort. I have apricot paint and rarely use it but it really is a nice soft peach that will go with many decor styles. I appreciate the product list because I need a couple of those tools! I absolutely love your work and instructions!
Thanks! And I rarely use Apricot as well... and I LOVE it so I'm not sure why...lol.
Hi there
These nightstands turned out beautiful! I love color and the floral and the hardware that you chose...you are so talented. I save all of your tutorials and before and afters. Do you ever have a hard time letting your creations go? I would want to keep everything. Lol
Thanks Jacquelynn! And yes I do but I have such limited space, when the furniture starts overtaking my home I know its time to list/sell them 😄
Beautiful! Fun to see something besides a white farmhouse finish. My question - how do you remove drawers that have a safety mechanism? I painted 2 nightstands where the drawers did not just slide out. A handy guy removed the drawers on one by taking the metal structures apart. He had a terrible time getting it back together and the drawers wobble now. To avoid this result, I painted the second stand I with the drawers still attached. Very difficult. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Hmmm, I've had a few of those drawers with plastic safety mechanisms in place with metal runners but never metal ones. I'm not sure how the metal ones work? With the plastic safety I had to reach inside (very uncomfortable since I had to contort my hand!) and press down on the plastic clip so the drawer can slide out. If anyone reading this comment has an answer I'd love to know as well! TIA
💯
How would it work if I wanted to do a leaning bookshelf desk covered in the rice paper? Most I see is buying a couple sheets at a time? Could I purchase white rice paper and see if a print shop could print me maybe 15 sheets of what I only get 2 sheets of in a set? At $22 a set, trying to get 15 pages of matching, identical sheets would be to expensive to do?
How you piece the two pieces together on the drawer? Any suggestions as far as placement.
Does the white background stay white? I want to decoupage on natural wood.
I fell in love with the Zazzle tissue paper. I have never used tissue paper on furniture. Is this something I should stay away from
I've never used Zazzle tissue paper but I have seen it online and I can see why you fell in love. They have FABULOUS designs. I think it would work just fine. Iv'e used napkins for this and it worked like a dream. :)
So gorgeous! 😍 I've never attempted this before, but I'm working on vanity that needs something on the inside..Do you know how well these would stand up being on the inside of the vanity? The back wall is missing the middle bc of the plumbing and I don't think you'd really be able to see it once they put their stuff in it. So I was thinking maybe on the inside of the doors? What do you think?
Yes of course! I think it would look amazing and hold up really well!
Oh, where are some good places to buy Rice Papers? Thank you 😊
Hi Martha! For this project I got mine from here dixiebellepaint.com/belles-and-whistles/rice-decoupage-paper/?aff=8 (affil link) but I know Redesign With Prima retailers have them. You can also find them on Etsy and Amazon as well! Hope this helps 🤗
I would love to see ghost stripes using glaze. Thanks
Oh, good one! When I find a piece it will work on I'll do it! 🤗
