    I feel like I came across this for a reason I literally am doing exactly this. I’m 17 and in an apprenticeship with the NHS I am able to save 1K a month and the rest I use for my own expenses. Sometimes seeing it is frustrating because you want to spend it on all these crazy things but I know in the long run it will be worth it I’m able to save basically 12k a year and in three years I should have hopefully 36k by 20/21. It’s hard but once you become disciplined and realise why you are doing it, it feels better☺️
    Thank you for this video it reminded me to stick to it and work hard! 😘

      Well done! That is so good for your age. I’m currently in uni studying to be a Registered Nurse in the UK. Do you mind me asking what your apprenticeship with the NHS is in? Also, how are you earning even 1K a year on an apprenticeship salary? I know they don’t pay much. Do you have a job outside of it? Well done love xx

      Not sure you’re being entirely truthful here. Never heard of an apprenticeship that would allow you to earn more than £1000 a month at 17, especially with the NHS who’s staff are all underpaid.

      This is exactly why I moved back home. I was living by myself for two years and my rent was £895 pm and didn't include gas, electricity etc. I decided to move back home last year in June and I'm able to save so much more now!

    • @stv7136
      @stv7136 4 роки тому +1

      Daddy You can set up a direct debit to automatically withdraw the money each month, that way you don’t need to think about it and you get used to not having that particular amount each month. Also, it’s helpful to keep in mind the reason for your savings. I want to buy a house, therefore I think of it as decreasing my chances of accomplishing this, if I keep dipping into my savings. If you really struggle with this, then you could always give the money to someone who you trust. When I was 16, l worked as a retail assistant; I was always spending my money and buying clothes. I was hopeless at saving and decided to give my savings to my mother. Now that I’m 25; I don’t need to do this and I’m good at saving. Like I mentioned previously; I was living by myself for two years but decided last year in June to move back home as renting made it impossible to save. I’ve saved £8,000 in 7 months. Keep your goals in mind and save what you can and then see overtime if you can add a bit more. It is hard sometimes to save but if you make the necessary steps, you can do it !

    Great video Hazel, I'm currently saving to buy my first house at 38yrs old, but I don't regret not starting sooner simply because I know I just was not in the buyers mindset during that time of my life, currently I can afford to save around £200 a month and so far I have £11,000 saved so hopefully in 2-3 years I will have enought to put down a 5% deposit. Thank you for the inspiration to keep going!

  • @AA-nl2ut
    @AA-nl2ut 4 роки тому +7

    It does make sense to a certain extent but also sounds a bit unrealistic. If you get 1500£after tax, also not everyone gets that some people get 1200£ a room to rent in the UK is minimum 400,that’s 800 left, food, car, car insurance, phone, phone bills and everything realistically people remain with 200/300 for the rest of the month. Let’s say someone lives in a flat and gets 1500. 600 Rent without bills !! Then add the car and the rest. You can’t only spend 500£ per month unless you live with your parents 😉 if you wanna be able to save that much then people definitelly need to have 2 jobs and not have a life or be a drug dealer or a stripper and love your life lol let’s be realistic

    • @hazelwoodx
      @hazelwoodx  4 роки тому +4

      Yes if you are renting its going to take longer to do this. But i did this without 2 jobs, still having quite high outgoings due to a car, insurance, rent to parents, high travel costs
      for work etc totalling way more than £500 and managed to do this. This video is targeted for people who were in a position similar to me and were in a position to save after making some cuts and not those who have no spare income a month ...

      That’s really good, considering you’re at university. That works out to £2400-£3600 in a year. That’s really good at your age. I’m also in uni, older than you and that’s roughly how much I save a month. A lot of people don’t save at all, so I’d say we’re way ahead of the crowd 💪.

      Thats really good. I have a help to buy ISA the maximum I can put in is £200. As soneone else has said it soon mounts up. £200 a month is £2,400 PA so by year 2 thats £4,800 Not including any government top up payments. I wish I had saved years ago. I have had to realy change. As I moved put in Jan and have household bills. I plan to do over time so I can add to my savings. I have 3 savings accounts and a H2B account.
      The key is don' compare to others. We all earn different amounts. We also pay different living costs.

    graham stephan/dave ramsey would be SO proud :’) I need more friends like you...all my friends are financially illiterate.
    All in our early 20’s, all they wanna do is spend, go out to eat, get drinks, buy coffees etc. Insane waste of money, I watch them spend $12 on a simple sandwich for one meal while I can meal prep for a week at home by myself for $3.
    Seems it’s kinda difficult to find people who want to engage/create a social life without spending an insane amt of your paycheck, but I know I can get it down.
    2020 I’m going to rebrand myself & ditch these people I’m around who are influencing me to spend unnecessarily.

    Just out of curiosity (if you don't mind my asking!), what kind of budget did your property come to in regards to a deposit and mortgage you were able to get. and did you purchase with someone or solo? I've been saving for years and years, just to gather as much as I can before hoping to buy, and at the end of the day, buying a property at 22 is something that can't be understated, that's amazing! So I guess I'm just curious :) I'd say I'm also very strict with my money and luckily my hobbies are the kind that are long-running, so it doesn't break the bank and lasts me long stretches of time which is definitely convenient!

    My plan I've been offered a job that will pay me 1800 a month so the first 800 will pay all my bills. I plan on taking a second job doing Door work that will get me an extra 1000 a month. My door wage will go straight in the bank for 20 months I will have 20k for deposit and that extra 1000 a month will allow to have a life and buy the things I need and save up towards my dream car

      Hazel Maria Wood thank you I've been fortunate to finally land a job that pays good I've been struggling most my life on rubbish money so it's been next to impossible to save for a house. But now that I have my qualifications I need I'm finally able to get the jobs that pay a lot more my credit score is at 900 so I really shouldn't have a problem now

      Hazel Maria Wood trouble is I'm doing this but I have to pay rent with them! It will take me years to save a decent amount as I have to try to save as much as I can but I pay rent to them too - you feel you have no life as I can't do things and save as well. I don't have the extra money for activities unless I sacrifice the savings.

      Just remember that everyone starts somewhere and it’s not about where you start, it’s where you’re going to end up! Try and save a little whenever you can. Even if it’s £3/£5 here and there like saying no to a meal deal or a Starbucks etc . Get into good habits now on your lower income and it will DEFINITELY make positive foundations for your future when you are on a full time income !!! Good luck! I believe in you ☺️
