    I give myself £160 every 4 weeks (I get paid 4 weekly) I put £40 in 4 envelopes and label them with dates. So I have £40 a week to stop me spending the full £160 in the first week for example. Just a little tip for anyone who may need it xx

    I think what I find demotivating when saving for a property Is the amount of time it will take me to save on my own and even if I got a deposit I wouldn’t be able to afford the mortgage alone in the area I live in 😭

    • @hazelwoodx
      @hazelwoodx  4 роки тому +12

      The best thing to do if you cant get the mortgage is to look at ways to progress at work whilst saving. This is what i did. I completed all the exams i could at work to ensure i could get promoted to earn enough money to get the borrowing i needed for my mortgage and so that it was affordable for me. Everything i did at work was for the bigger picture so i could afford a house! So thjs is my biggest suggestion to anyone out there who cant afford it based on their current situation!

      @@hazelwoodx I am planning to work my way up in fhe ambulance service. Ours is an odd service where I might have to spend a £1,000 on my C1 license so I can go on the heavier ambulances and have other opertunitys.

      Speak to your parents or family members. I bet they started off on some not very nice areas and as they proprtys went up in price they moved to nicer areas.
      My friends sister brought a house with her partner. The 2 police officeres lied about it. The lounge leaked and they spent a fortune trying to fix it. They stayed and made the best of it for 2 or 3 years. Only recently they sold up and moved.
      Some times you have to live in a cheaper area then move once your property is worth more in a sale. People are alwaya moving in my work place. Some have lived in an area for 10 years and see it has declined so want to move. Some want a better garden some want to move nearer to family or work.

My sister has like 10 or more and will have councill tax in one pot. Studio rent for a nother pot and so on. When her remt say for her studio is due she will mofe then rent money from the pot to the current account to pay it.

    Such great advice Hazel. There will always be things we need to save for. John and I have now started to save for retirement. Even though it is a few years away we want to be able to continue having holidays and spending time together doing things we will then be able to do. We love our holidays so it is easy to make savings elsewhere to achieve this ❤️ xx

    Love your videos, really inspiring for the younger generation who are just getting into work. And it isn’t misleading like some youtubers who can be flashy with hauls and big purchases influencing spending which defeats the object. It would have been nice for you to share the actual practical steps in how you reached that goal. Ie: did you use an ISA, buy shares or any other schemes ? How much were you putting away each month ? Did you get help from parents or acquire inheritance along the way? I ask because it will give a realistic goal to people earning an average salary how much they will need to save each month. Hope this makes sense 😊

    • @hazelwoodx

      Thank you! I just saved into a cash ISA. I was living with parents but still had high outgoings (probably £800 a month still) due to car, insurance; rent, food etc. i was saving between £800 and £1,200 a month on average. I didnt do youtube i just worked hard in my job to progress and increase my salary by doing exams etc (I have covered all this in other videos which is why i didnt repeat myself) xxx

    Thought I was the only one waiting a few weeks before I buy anything! I always wait a few weeks and if I know it might come up on discount and I don't need it straight away I always wait until there's a discount, because if I don't need it but I want it it's better I spend little money than pay full price 😄

But I really want to buy a house in 2022 and start planning for a family once we have a house ♡ You gave so many great tips!! I really like the 30 day tip, im such an impulse buyer and it's terrible. I plan to do college but parents paying, and it's a 2 year degree to which I was going to stay with my parents during that time and they were going to provide for me during that time. Would this be fine to instead do 25% for myself and 75% for going to savings? I plan to adopt, and so the houses I'm looking at already to get the general idea of what I'll need is all in the $350,000
    edit: It's actually $200,000 but add in the downpayment, closing cost, and then left over for furniture I'll need much more than just $200,000
