You are doing so well for yourself. You should be so proud, I watch all your videos and even though me and you are total opposites in life, I have 2 children, my partner works part time and I look after the babies I feel like we are so similar. Wish I had a friend like you. X
Oh Hazel it's like you read my mind... I scrolled all the way down your channel the other day to watch your savings and mortgage videos again 😂 I love your vids so much! I'm not usually one to comment/engage on UA-cam videos, but I just had to 🤗
Me and my fiancé are currently in the process of buying a 3 bedroom house for £150,000! We’re in South Wales which is pretty affordable cant imaging living somewhere so unaffordable!!😦
Wow, for that price you feel kind of spoilt! In London, my family home is nearly £500,000 for a 3 bedroom! But it's the capital city and no one can afford to rent let alone buy in the big capital. For £500,000 my family could buy 3 houses in South Wales!
The East Midlands is around that too! I don’t think it’s cheap I think about 190k for a house 3 bedroom is average, anywhere else is just very expensive
Lottieloves yeah and you think that's just on the house! You can move your existing stuff into it but I think in the end it ends up more then the sale price as you have to pay to redecorate etc. But I agree it is so expensive in the UK, especially in the south unless you already own a property and can sell it and get a small mortgage to pay the rest. NOBODY I know can afford the house prices as they are £300,000 up. We're all stuck with renting for now.
Really enjoyed this, Hazel! We are saving for our first home and I have no idea how it all works and what we need to do but I am so excited for it to all happen soon! I've been doing a no buy year and have heaps of money saving videos and I am so glad to have found your channel, ours look really similar! Can't wait to watch more of your videos, congrats on getting your new home xxx
Thank you for doing this video Hazel! I feel like giving up at times as I’m nowhere near ready to buy a home even though it’s something I’ve been wanting for years!! Struggling to save for a deposit is so tough but I’m determined to do it!
Your video is great. Every millennial should watch this. The ethos of progressing at work to earn more; is refreshing. So many other you tubers encourage risky borrowing or bank of mum and dad.
Yes your right!! Sorry i got it wrong, I just double checked. Its only help to buy ISAs that ends november 30th, the help to buy equity loans ends 2023 like you said x
Laura Heney I’ve managed to save £10,000 as well, it’s been difficult and I feel like it’s getting harder the older I get as I want to travel but also save xx
Shannon Christie I know it's that conundrum. Do you do some travelling and live and not save as much or do you just live minimally and do little and save everything you get? By the way I'm going I think it's only going to be my parents inheritance that gets me anywhere near a property.
greenkitty82 so this year me and my bf went to rome which I paid all for as it was his bday, (still not sure how I afforded it tbh) then we went to Greece in the summer. And hoping to go to New York for Christmas. Unfortunately because of my bf’s job we have to go in the school holidays which means it’s so expensive for us to get away. I hate sitting in at the weekends so we don’t miss out on things, although we have had to cut down massively on eating out which has helped us. At the end of the day I’m only 23 and I still want to enjoy my money, again because of my bf job we probably won’t be living together for probably another 4 years so we have plenty of time to save☺️ xx
I’ve saved 8k last year. My savings goal is to save 10k this year and then buy a house with around 20k down on a 50-70k house in the north. Then I’ll add value to it so I can sell it after a while for profit and repeat that.
Our new build was by Lovell it was fantastic. We had 4 bedrooms potential to have 5 if you only had one living room. It cost my mum £190,000. It was her first home on her own after spliting up with my dad 10 years ago. You need to view them once ready to buy. They are all different designed by different developers. Some are good some arnt. We got a 10 year builders garantee. What mum lived was it was a bit cheaper been a new build. She paid £190,000 where an old 4 bed house can be £250,000 In the area we moved to. We had brand new everything boiler extracter fans bath and shower rooms. I get the impression for first time buyers new builds are a fantastic start. As you have all the warrantees ect. No one has ever lived in it and everything is brand new. Like any property you buy the will be isses and things go wrong. Like Hazel says in her videos. They devolopers have standards to sign off. If you have anything from a chiped tile to a leaky shower. They have to come and sort it out. Where as a 50 year old property the previouse owners will not repair whatever is wrong. Over all I think the key is to look at new and old and compare prices and areas. Some on help to buy schemes may have to get a new build and keep it for a set amount of years. Then move to a non new build when this period is over.
Really interesting video Hazel. Could you do one on income protection? I have a work pension and an account with Nest but I'd be interested actual income protection 😉x
£140,000-£150,000 is plenty where I live for a lovely 3 bedroom first time buy! I’m so lucky I live in an affordable area. I’m on just over 26k which I’m confident could get me something suitable. I’ll probably be looking at something for £120,000 max, I just need to keep saving for that deposit now 😫
Ahh you are so lucky!! You will get there lovely! My next house move i hope will be to a 4 bed and guess how much that would be if i went for a new build - between £450k to £600k !!!! Lol! A 3 bed around here is about 350-400! Its mad! X
Hazel Maria Wood have you thought to buy and old house (as they are bigger than most of the new build) and then fully refurbish it? My dream is to do that somewhere near London. (Kent or Essex)
Thank you so much Hazel. Buying a house is really intense and this video is really helpful. I’m desperately saving for a deposit at the moment. Would you recommend waiting until you have the full deposit before looking? I know there might be some time after reserving before completion. Thanks
glad you enjoyed. it depends how far off - if its the case of a few grand, then go for it - but be mindful of all the other fees as you don't wanna rush into it and then be left short!! so id say whatever your total saving goal is (for example if you wanna save say 15k and this is your total deposit and all fees) wait until you only need another 1-4 months of saving to hit it! xxx
Such a helpful video, thank you. Also just to clarify, the very first step you took was going straight to a mortgage broker? Knowing the first step is always confusing xx
How did you save your money i want to save money but i’m worried about the inflation situation is it safe to just save for years and years in a general bank account or it’s not such a big deal in the uk?
its a scheme that enables you to get a 20% deposit towards the house from the government in the form of a loan - you should have a look on google theres so much info about it if you are interested xxx
Hi Hazel, I found this video really helpful as you broke down the costs involved etc. I'm looking to buy around the same area you did (C****s***d W****M, B****t**e - I don't want to bait out the town you live in). I just subscribed, keep up the good work. Can you also do a video about credit scores because this is a big factor in buying.
Found this really inspiring. Young girls need more role models like you .
thank you lovely xxx
In the process of building a TW new build, this playlist is so helpful!!! This is something we should be learning about in school x
Your so mature compared to other UA-camrs. Great role model. Thank you for being so honest and inspiring.
thank you!!

Some great advice Hazel, you are such a good role model and so sensible with a good head on your shoulders 😊❤️ xx
thank you so so much xxx

WOW thats so good lol!!! id only ever dream of that! a 3 bed here is around £350k for a new build and 275k starting up to 350k for a older house!!!

you are welcome!! it is hard but you will get there ! xxx
Loving the background. I was just about to watch your mortgage video from last year haha. Clicked on your channel and came across this one 🙌🏻
ahhh haha what good timing!! xxx
You should go into schools to teach the young kids about things like this. Great inspiration, especially for young girls.
Your video is great. Every millennial should watch this. The ethos of progressing at work to earn more; is refreshing. So many other you tubers encourage risky borrowing or bank of mum and dad.
thank you x
Really liked this video! My partner and I are in the middle of saving for our despoit and this was super informative! Thank you!

Unless its changed since i last looked! Xx
Yes your right!! Sorry i got it wrong, I just double checked. Its only help to buy ISAs that ends november 30th, the help to buy equity loans ends 2023 like you said x
@M Nastri it ends in 21 then a new scheme comes into place which extends it to 2023 x
Hazel Maria Wood Applying for a Help or Buy stops this year November but I think ends as a whole in 2023 if you haven’t claimed your house by then x
I’ve been looking forward to this video hun! 😍😘💖 xxx
aw yay! xxxx
Being on £17,000 a year feels like it’s going to be impossible to buy a house 😭
i understand that feeling, its SO difficult these days to get a house, mortgage etc. our generation really do have it bad!!x
I have saved £10,000 on the same wage as you! I used the lifetime isa and only had to save 8k cos of the 2k from bonus xx
Laura Heney I’ve managed to save £10,000 as well, it’s been difficult and I feel like it’s getting harder the older I get as I want to travel but also save xx

What’s your take on New Builds and Shared Ownerships?
Official Dj Eswift new builds are not nice inside all boxes off n small
