  • This one performed much better than expected. Is it, as Cold Steel suggests, a mini Kabutowari, or a folding Seax? Based on handling, I'm calling it a "Stiletto with a bite." And it has an impressive bite.

Thanks Mike for the demonstration of this Cold Steel Frenzy Knife. 😊

Another GREAT video here Mike! I was also very impressed when I finally got my Frenzy. I didn't expect it to be so sturdy and large! Btw, YOU are the first and only reviewer that I have seen, to baton with a Frenzy!!! I saw "chips" flying off of that bamboo too and Mike, Snaggletooth just so happens to have an actual matching blue wave tab for that knife, I have it on mine. That tab for me is a game changer Mike! I don't like those "AH HA" moments when deploying my knife lol!!! Another excellent series here, looking very much forward to the continuation...

Thanks! I'll be looking into Snaggletooth after I get my move settled. Batoning was inspired by how well it was chopping, but I don't think it was made with that in mind.

Glad you mentioned the Snaggletooth MF. I think Cold Steel missed out on not equipping the Frenzy with some type of wave opener. If I was mostly interested in a self defense folding knife and nothing else, I would definitely carry the Frenzy. But since it’s legal in my state to carry whatever I want. I usually carry a Cold Steel Magnum Tanto 2 or a Cold Steel Recon Tanto. If I can ever find a 9” Bowie knife with all the features I want on it, I’ll get one and carry it. The closest thing to a perfect Bowie knife I’ve found is the Bagwell Hells Belle. But even then, it’s not quite what I’m looking for. I don’t like the hand guard. So I’m probably going to have to have one made or make it myself.

When it comes to a martial blade that is exactly correct--whatever knife you comfortably carry the most. That for me is something slim, not too large, has great texturing and a finger choil in case the need for thrusting arises. And that knife for me is the Cold Steel American Lawman. It's very ergonomic and has a blade that is just long enough for me to feel comfortable with in a self defense situation. Hasn't left my pocket in the last 6 months. Love it. Great video too BTW.

@@michaelrizzo5523 I know it's not strictly a "tactical" blade but that's what I love about it. It has very EDC friendly look and capability about it but can easily fall into that tactical category as well. And I think that name "Lawman" is very fitting. Something a police officer would or could use in any given situation, including a self defense one. Overall I think it's a very underrated blade.

I've been tempted to buy the Frenzy a few times and after your review I just might have to.
Speaking of long, slim folders, you might want to try the largest Hold Out or the Counter Point XL. I have both and I've found them to give a lot of useful blade while being relatively easy to carry. The Counter Point has a better handle at the cost of being a little more bulky.

Oh man, now ya went and done it! Here I am, one happy camper with my serrated Spartan as a frequent EDC companion. I've sort of lusted over the Frenzy for years now, but have put off getting one because of its length. You went and answered a bunch of questions I was hiding behind. Hiding and stalling on the purchase of the Frenzy was simple until I saw it in a review I could relate to. They used to make one in OD Green and black, but I missed that one, so have been thinking blue, but it is bright; the paralysis of analysis is in full deployment on this one knife. I can't find any of the other colors, Amazon says they have a black one, but the image just shows a darkly exposed blue model, so not trusting that. I do wish that CS would offer subdued clips on all their knives, not everybody wants to be all that noticeable. I do add the SnaggleTooth LLC part to all my CS knives without the Demko plate, and the Frenzy, should I pull that trigger, will be no exception.
Thanks for the very informative reviews, and keep up the interesting story arc.

@@michaelrizzo5523 I did, and they are sold out the two other colors. Searched at many online vendors and saw DISCONTINUED more times than I can count. Cold Steel no longer catalogs the other versions on their website. CS of Texas is not big on customer service or fielding uncommon questions, or so I have come to find out in recent months. Living in Ventura Calif, I was used to the old way of doing business. You just don't know what ya got til its gone...or so the song goes.

Thanks for this video. With my ti lite failing me ive been in the market for a replacement. The frenzy seems to have solved the issues (liner lock slipping and no ambidextrous clip). Also considering the counter point xl.

Good timing on this comment, it turns out, as I'm just finishing reviewing the Luzon, and (spoiler) the liner lock is a big fail, so I was wondering about the Ti-Lite. I'm also leaning towards the XL Counterpoint.
