Unfried, Fried Chicken on the Weber

  • I really don't have a recipe for this. Just as described in the video.
Soak chicken in buttermilk. Shake excess off right before coating with flour.
Coat with Kentucky Kernel flour. Shake off excess.
Place on outside of grill grate.
Cook for 25 minutes. Flip and cook for 25 more minutes or until cooked to your liking.
I suppose you could pile your charcoal in the middle if you don't have a Vortex, or in my case, a Poortex. At any rate, this stuff is pretty good and it will blow your friends minds.

You got the only other Weber grill I have seen with the fire box handle to short just like mine. Chicken looks good!

What a great way to make “fried” chicken without getting grease all over my kitchen. Hopefully I can try that before the snow flies. I bought 4 boxes of that Kentucky Colonel seasoned flour cuz I too had problems finding it. Good ole Amazon.

Hahahaha, I didn’t hear a thing you said after “poortex”. I was thinking how genius that is and I’m gonna do it! 👍 How did you cut the bottom out?

I used a grinder with a 1/8” disc. I put some masking tape around it to try to keep my cut as straight as possible.

Looks great brother, I’m gonna try. And I love the kettle, I won’t cook with anything else on the weekends. 👍🏻

Works the same way as Shake n Bake, just with the grill not the oven. So it makes sense it would work.

I guess those legs and thighs just walked themselves closer to the fire lol

Ok, ya caught me. But, in my defense, it was only the back legs. I didn't cook any front legs this time.

I would have hit the pockets of flour with cooking spray after the first 25 mins

Look like a big mess. I’ve done a similar thing like this too, but with baking powder, it crisps up your chicken, but do you use some oil on your grading next time instead of having half of it stick to it
    Lol

Looks like you had a major problem with them sticking?

Anyway you avoid sticking the chicken to the grill?

Yeah, I should have rubbed the grate with some oil first. I was just in a hurry.

    Those look atrocious my guy.
You could have just made some smoked chicken with the grill and I would have preferred that over......whatever this was.
