strange. the only thing I can suggest when changing the whole kit is tighting the bolts correctly. adjustment the valve pump properly. and attaching flapper to the drain evenly.
the main cause tends to always be the flapper in the example I shared. however should you still hear the water, there may be an indication that the tank valve is not regulating the water properly and adjustment may be enough or replacement. and you can buy a kit on amazon at amzn.to/4cGiMFt but also if the flapper you replaced does not work compatible because you did not find the exact fit then changing the tank flush valve amzn.to/45MNlqC keep in mind that without a perfect fit of the flapper then is not going to seal the water flow.

Simple is always the easiest. First off, thanks for the video. Secondly folks, after trial and much error (on my part) I replaced my toilet innards, all except the damn flap. I mean, who would think that this 'simple' little piece of rubber holds a BIG key to "why does my water spontaneously come on, then go right back off". Five and a half minutes into this mans video explains it all. Well, for me at least. If you get the kit that comes with a flapper just change it, and don't assume that simple little rubber piece is insignificant. Thanks again for the video Bro.
I am sorry the chain is not covered on the video. the idea is to measure the chain length from the flapper to the flush stick while resting normal not while is pulled. then hook the chain to the end of the rod without hanging much.
I read my meter to monitor my water usage because I had a leak a while back and my water bill was huge. I did the reading on March14th and onApril17th. I used 5670 gallons of water and I'm single. And I was out of town 3 times. I turned off the water to my toilet yesterday and my tank was empty this am. My bowl was still full. I'm gonna try to get a flap installed. Thank you

@MasterMindHandyMan so far so good. I've been monitoring my water everyday. If I had heard water running, I would have checked it out. I didn't except after flushing. This is my 1st house. I bought it in 2008. The thought of how much money I flushed literally down the toilet gives me a cold chill. My scariest moment was last summer. My usage was 36000. I live alone. I kept thinking it was because I do a load of laundry everyday , or because I take a tub bath every am. Or because I have a dishwasher. Now since I have been reading my meter EVERY day , I'm using about 600 gallons a week. Much better. Plus I retired so I don't do laundry or take a bath every day.
So my friend says that the hole in the middle of the tank, you shouldn't have the water pouring directly into that hole. Is it bad, is it good, what's the proper/right way for it to do this?
I think my issue is that water level thing ya mentioned at the beginning. Got a new flapper and flush handle. I think i need a new water level part because when i play with that that's when it stops. Any tips for a what i believe is a Kohler toilet canister style? I maybe a girl willing and able to do dyi stuff but that looks like it might be able my skills
this is the first part you need is the vlave amzn.to/3QzhJPq comes with a compatible flapper. if the flapper you purchased is not compatible with your original toilet flush valve than it will not work. like this one too amzn.to/3SqnOyK
no. the tank valve is not related to the flapper function. if the water running comes from the valve to the left of the tank that you see on the video with the blue lid. then it means the pump is clogged inside and is not measuring the level of water right for it to stop it. I recommend changing out the tank valve.
I just changed a brand new flapper, but water still leaking to the bow, triggering water filling every single minute. I don't know what else I can do. Is there anything else I can do?

Yup it was the flapper in my case as well. Holding it down stopped the draining and allowed the tank to fill up. In my case though it stayed down and didn't continue draining after. Although I probably should get a new one if this keeps happening frequently. Maybe it isn't the right size or something.
thanks for watching. and asking. the only suggestion is to make sure is the right compatible flapper to work perfect with the tank valve. if its then clean the ring edges of the drainage hole going into the toilet bowl. you want to make sure both rubber and plastic seal together. on a plan b situation then replace the entire middle kit with a new one which comes with a compatible flappler here is a product to consider amzn.to/4apouuP
How can I make sure i have the right flapper? Its a flapper good for all toilets. I haven't looked lately. Is there something that the flapper sits on that i can clean or is it just a hole it closes up??

keep in mind that when parts inside a toilet tank begin to leak is due to corrosion which is not repairable because they do not come with rubber seals. unless is the valve which is does. in these examples when related to a bolt or a flapper etc. replace with new
I had a toilet that used to hiss and bubble out the top of the fill tube. Sometimes adjusting the plastic height screw to the right of the fill tube would stop it, but it's probably getting gunked up and can't close properly.
my tank isnt running water, but it sounds like its leaking from the pipes, and sounds like the neighbor is flushingt their toilet, far away. and my tanks water slowly goes down throughout the night, and by morning it wont flush because it doesnt have enough water in it, so i have to flush it twice to get it to fill up with water again., i replaced the flapper, but its still doing it.please help!
a flapper that is not compatible will cause this. the flapper must match the Toilet Flush Valve or it will leak. here is a kit I recommend amzn.to/3QzhsvS or this one amzn.to/3QzhJPq and both come with new flappers

I have no experience with this, not even my toilet. Super small bathroom, driving me crazy. I put in a new valve and flapper. But the valve keeps rising all the way up and the water keeps running.
I used a paper clip in the valve and it worked for now. Living at an expensive loft apartment where the owners do not care about us at all so I fixed my ish with a paper clip 😆

amazin news, yes this nornally happens due to wear of the flapper and a new one is always a good idea.. but if a cleaning option is acceptable then by all means save your money lol
Hey mate! They possibly could be a leak some where. My best bet is that you use some stain free dye so that it doesn’t corrode the gaskets and other silicone based parts in the tank. From there you could possibly find a leak in where it’s coming from. I’m studying plumbing and I learned this in my class today! Hope it helps! :)
Dumb question: You said its not necessary to shut off the water to change the flapper. So you take off the flapper, take to home depot to hopefully match it with the correct flapper, all the while the water is still on at the toilet at home? Won't it be running the entire time one is at home depot? Anyone??? Thanks
good questions. yes of course removing the flapper will cause the tank valve to run. ad assuming you are going up the street near by is ok to leave the tank and go gt a match. but if you driving 30 minutes to an hour away please close the water valve coming off the wall underneath toilet haha. please subscribe for future do it yourself videos
good question. is obvious that this toilet is different than those you describe. but the idea of the solution is the same. if those toilet tanks use a flapper inside the tank then is a similar repair.
center piece where the flapper is connected to is also connected to the toilet. the rest of the parts inside the toilet tank are individually independent such as bolts and valves and flappers etc. so if you are getting a leak from the toilet side closer to the tank side. not obviously related to the valve or bolts connections. then you have a worned out rubber seal between tank and toilet and you need to take the entire tank out to replace. here is an example of what you need. amzn.to/3Q8PxkY
Same. I got a universal flap that you can adjust to the unit model (hard for me since the model # got worn away and I had to do a lot of research). It still runs but when I play with that level thing he talked about it stopped. I may be a girl that's willing to do dyi stuff but am hesitant to mess with that.
if the flapper you purchased is not compatible with the toilet flush valve then it will not work. and vice versa. here are some compatible products I recommend for replacing the flush valve or the water level valve. each come with the fitted flapper. amzn.to/3SqnOyK and this one amzn.to/40kc7vx

sad news. investigation time! I want you to cut off all noise in the house. flush the toilet and wait silently. while the tank is open. and then look and hear carefully inside........ what do you see moving? from where is the sound coming from? get closer inside! What did you discover?

What if I have an issue where water leaks from the tank due to the fill valve spewing water through the lid? Will this fix it?
no. the tank valve is not related to the flapper function. if the water running comes from the valve to the left of the tank that you see on the video with the blue lid. then it means the pump is clogged inside and is not measuring the level of water right for it to stop it. I recommend changing out the tank valve.

Square model commade inside bowl water is leaking
keep in mind that when parts inside a toilet tank begin to leak is due to corrosion which is not repairable because they do not come with rubber seals. unless is the valve which is does. in these examples when related to a bolt or a flapper etc. replace with new
it keeps hissing and pumping water on top, now i cant sleep cuz im worried it will overflow, how do stop it
Replace the fill tube. Home depot sells. Watch some videos
I had a toilet that used to hiss and bubble out the top of the fill tube. Sometimes adjusting the plastic height screw to the right of the fill tube would stop it, but it's probably getting gunked up and can't close properly.
you can always close the water valve coming from the wall to the opposite side
my tank isnt running water, but it sounds like its leaking from the pipes, and sounds like the neighbor is flushingt their toilet, far away. and my tanks water slowly goes down throughout the night, and by morning it wont flush because it doesnt have enough water in it, so i have to flush it twice to get it to fill up with water again., i replaced the flapper, but its still doing it.please help!
Sounds mysterious. I recommend changing all parts inside the tank. Here is the kit amzn.to/4gV9fgI
excellent!!
thank you for sharing and glad it helped. please subscribe for future do it yourself vids
I just put on a new fill valve flapper and its still leaking into the bowl
a flapper that is not compatible will cause this. the flapper must match the Toilet Flush Valve or it will leak. here is a kit I recommend amzn.to/3QzhsvS or this one amzn.to/3QzhJPq and both come with new flappers
Thank you for your details! Home Depot talks about parts, but doesn't point them out!,😱
Glad it was helpful!
I put a new flapper on and it also leeks

This definitely was my problem after months of not using this toliet it was the flapper .. thanks
glad you figured it out
Thank you
You're welcome
I have no experience with this, not even my toilet. Super small bathroom, driving me crazy. I put in a new valve and flapper. But the valve keeps rising all the way up and the water keeps running.
Interesting. Make sure you adjust the valve pump lower not upward.
@@MasterMindHandyMan Thanks, I think I did it, turned it and it's not running anymore. I appreciate the video, it helped.
What if i cant get the flapper off ?
you got to replace the flapper connector part. here is what you need amzn.to/3MnFIOZ
I used a paper clip in the valve and it worked for now. Living at an expensive loft apartment where the owners do not care about us at all so I fixed my ish with a paper clip 😆
i can't stand those owners. always ready to collect the rent but when a maintenance request comes in they take forever. lol you better subscribe for future videos
This worked, mine had sediment on gasket, I cleaned out sediment with toothpaste/brush.. this problem without fixing is 25-$35/month water bill...
amazin news, yes this nornally happens due to wear of the flapper and a new one is always a good idea.. but if a cleaning option is acceptable then by all means save your money lol
Thank you
You're welcome
That's not my problem we put three new flapper balls replaced everything in the back of the and the water is still running
There is something happening that you missed and I recommend you hire a professional
when is not obvious is time to investigate further. follow the sound..@@BraydenNeale
Maybe you should use two of those flappers as earrings!
@@edwinvalentin9120hahahaha I’m laughing so hard rn 😐

Gonna try this I think it's the flapper.
I bet its.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
what about toilets that flush wish a button press at the top
good question. is obvious that this toilet is different than those you describe. but the idea of the solution is the same. if those toilet tanks use a flapper inside the tank then is a similar repair.
the tank valve keep running
when this happens is time to replace it. this is a great product amzn.to/49ew3UB
My tank fills up and overflows leaks through the back until I flush it. It happens once in awhile what is the cause
center piece where the flapper is connected to is also connected to the toilet. the rest of the parts inside the toilet tank are individually independent such as bolts and valves and flappers etc. so if you are getting a leak from the toilet side closer to the tank side. not obviously related to the valve or bolts connections. then you have a worned out rubber seal between tank and toilet and you need to take the entire tank out to replace. here is an example of what you need. amzn.to/3Q8PxkY
Thanks for the fix, but 10 minutes to explain it?
@marsoelflaco5722 find one that lasts 30 sec and try to figure out why you didn't get enough info. Smh
I am a talker. I got to keep you watching for me to have fun lol
haters never grow. lovers get wiser.
The insides are new and it's still runnimg
not compatible flapper. connections are not even. check each part.
I replaced the part and my tank still empties out in 10 minutes
Whn water is on,the water leaks to toilet down, and whn water tap is turn off, water doesn't leak down..I changed the flapper

Toylet Pro.
thank you
Can I start flapping my wings so water can stop???
I find that gum or glue works well. haha
its still not the flapper for me, still the water is running 😢
sad news. investigation time! I want you to cut off all noise in the house. flush the toilet and wait silently. while the tank is open. and then look and hear carefully inside........ what do you see moving? from where is the sound coming from? get closer inside! What did you discover?
No it’s not that flapper
what was your problem then?
Change your title to "How to replace…" so other folks don’t waste their times
That s the right title because you had to find out what the problem was and it was a flapper . It could of been somthing else.
Yo relax
I agree,
the word fixing is the beginning to get you to explorer which was the idea of video. and then by me explaining you able to figure out your problem.
Good Tutorial.
Many many thanks
Thank you so much for this instruction regarding the running water in my toilet. I am73 and cannot afford the prices a plumber would charge. Thank you so much MasterMind HandyMan
