    1:18 Mine is the original flapper as shown here. It began to leak water. Do you know where I can buy such vintage original flapper? I look at Home Depot and Amazon and cannot find one looks like exactly you just shown. Is it too old to find one? My only option is to replace the whole toilet if I cannot find the original flapper. Thanks.

      thank you for the explanation and video. I feel silly now because what happened is my flapper had the circle collar which slides down the flush tube but also the side attachments holes, once I cut off the flush tube circle collar off the flapper and just used the two side attachments holes to hold the flapper everything worked perfectly instantly. I didn’t realize that you either use the side attachments or the flush tube collar but cannot use both.

    I installed a new Glacier Bay 1.28 , easy install, initially worked great but by the end of the week it was the leaking causing a random fill about every 20-30 minutes. The toilet came with a Fluidmaster fill kit came with a 540 flapper installed. The 540 flapper with the new toilet seems like a hard of piece of plastic with a whimpy nylon gasket and only a half a chance of working. I'm thinking the blue 3" kohler might be exactly what this inexpensive toilet needs to stop leaking ?!?!?!?!?

    I am having a heck of a time finding a flapper for my six year old American Standard toilet. On the tank lid it says it takes a P030751000 which American Standard in the great wisdom does not sell anymore unless you purchase the entire flapper assembly. I found one supply place that said a P030750000C is the replacement and on an American Standard site I found it said that a B6048-G-Crn1 was a replacement. The hole in the flapper assembly looks to be 2 7/8 inches. Not sure what I would get to replace it so far. I am up in Canada so shipping one from the US gets stupid expensive. Do you know if a 3 inch flapper assembly hole in other toilets is actually 2 7/8 or are they three inch?

    New Glacier Bay 1.28GPF toilet, included Fluidmaster 540 flapper drops down too quickly, not enough flush water , Glacier Bay sent me a different UPC flapper, no difference. You can give up and hold handle down for #2 but I plan to buy and install a float to hold flapper open longer. Toilet needs all the flush water it can get, amount in bowl is skimpy, limited by included Fluidmaster flush valve. BTW Fluidmaster 540 set to 10, tried looser and tighter chain, I suspect most 1.28GPF toilets have the same problem.

    we paid a premium for a Cadet 3 and Home depot a few short years ago, the flapper is not long sealing perfectly and drips... I ordered a new flapper and it does not fit the tags are too far apart. Apparently the left handed flush model uses a different flapper with those two tags it sits on, are closer together in this model and no stores seem to carry the correct flapper. I contacted American Standard on their website and so far they have not responded after 2 days. This is total B.S. as we thought getting higher quality and paying more meant better. PLus you would think they would make getting the right part not a huge PIA. I should not have to go on a scavanger hunt. I see may others also ran into this issue and have order and bought the flappers for the toilet and discovered they are wrong.

    Thanks for your video help regarding flapper valves. My question is with the new style Kohler Canister style. unlike the old rubber valves that would stay open for a short time before it falls closed, what causes the canister to stay open long enough to get a nice amount of water to flush waste? I don't see anything that holds it open. If I don't purposely hold the trip lever handle down and wait for the correct amount of water, it will simply lift up and fall back down quickly, hardly any water gets down. What is going on? Did they design an adjustment for this?
    Thanks, Rob

    • @PlumbingPartsPro
      @PlumbingPartsPro  Рік тому

      This style has limited adjustment available. They make a 1.28gpf and a 1.6gpf option. I yiu have the 1.28 yiu may be able to replace with the 1.6 to get a slightly better flush. Also try adjusting the water level a little higher and still keep below the overflow to help flush

      Yes we have the same issue but it is caused by the relatively small water flow - 1.6gal. We also find we need to hold the handle down. Great video. I needed the flapper guidance.

    New viewer. Enjoyed the video. Considering converting from "flapper" to "Piston." Your thoughts? Also, what exactly do the adjustments on the flappers... adjust? How do you know what the right setting would be? At any rate, thanks.

      The piston limits the hang ups on the chains for sure make sure you know the gallon capacity the toilet flushes and whether it's 2 or 3" also sometimes you must change the handle to accommodate the different flush valve too

      @@PlumbingPartsPro And I'm guessing it would require removing the tank, to fit the piston value? Verses just getting the correct flapper? Amazing how the guys at the local "hardware store", just go with, "Well, yeah, its universal, so it fits everything."

      @@Skyholder001 yes the tank must come off. And NO universal flappers don't fit everything haha Your welcome to email us some info on your toilet. Brand, model number(usually found inside tank) or even pictures of the toilet and inside the tank and we can help. info@plumbingpartspro.com

      @@PlumbingPartsPro I did find a video, showing the actual piston installation. Thank you, and we'll see how adventurous I am. I know I have a bad flapper seal, and dang if I haven't tried an array of types. Maybe I'll shoot you some pics. Thanks again.
