Hi Cal, what colour flys do you have for big browns and kings. I live in australia and we have kings in two deep lakes here, these fish feed on minnows.
I have some underwater footage of a fly with a wiggle disc from a couple weeks ago that I’ll upload soon. Get some great action off those discs!
The discs rock.....They have lots of uses....
Fish Hunt Shoot Productions here’s the video I made of the action disc set up and underwater footage ua-cam.com/video/MGSYW9Ps-8w/v-deo.html
Some of the glacial deep lakes here in new england we use super long leaders fishing for LL salmon and trout b.c. they are quite spooky. Is the bead and chain swivel that close to the lure not a concern? Is it species-specific? thanks Cal
Our fish are not line shy, so it isn’t really an issue. If you make the leader too much longer, netting the fish becomes extremely difficult.
Hey Cal, quick question I'm using your set up but with 5 colors of 12lbs suffix leadcore and a 20lbs top shot. Should I go to a 15lbs top shot? Oh and do you ever run a dodger infeont of your fly and if so, how many ft is your leader?
Okay...I think your topshot is fine....15 17 or 20 I've used all those weights...Just tip it with a trolling swivel and run a lighter leader off that...8, 10 or 12....You can run flies with a dodger...If you are using the action disc space fly and dodger 24 to 36 inches...If you don't use the disc and want the dodger to impart action...Go with a 6 inch blade and run the fly 12 to 14 inches back..... Hope that helps...Thx Cal
@@FHSTackle Thanks you Cal!!😎👊
Do you put pro cure on your trolling flies?
Sometimes I put it on the front of the action disc....I don't put it on the actual fly....
How do you think the flies will work for koks??
Small flies work great...With corn....
Do you put your leader directly on the lead core
No. There is a 35' top shot between the lead and the swivel to the leader.
@@FHSTackle thank you for your answer im new with your technique. Will try it for brook trout and lake trout this summer
I forget, you fishing the Outback, or the Pro Angler?
Pro Angler 14...Wes is in an Outback....
