I have heard of skaters saying that a particular rink was jinxed for them...they always perform poorly there. With Nancy Kerrigan it seems that this costume was cursed.Ever time she wore it was a disaster. Even her nationals was a disappointment.
FitThickChic they were biased scores, she fit the mould so they handed her the scores on a plate, look at her 93 nationals win, hardly a gold medal performance tbh...
Watching this makes me really impressed with Nancy even more. She never gave up! She kept fighting! People are just quick to call her a sore sport at the '94 Oly but LOOK WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH! She made an AMAZING COME BACK! And she should have WON the '94 Olympics! Nancy Kerrigan the TRUE ATHLETE!
I wonder why she went for that 2nd Triple Lutz late in the program with not her usual set-up. The way she was skating and the confidence ... there was almost no chance she would have landed that anyway. Maybe a big Double Lutz or Double Axel or another Triple Sal would've sufficed. I LOVE that program, but she just didn't have it the Winter/Spring of 1993. So glad she rebounded. Love her.
It's weird that Nancy's skating actually got better after the attack. It's as if her indignant and holier than thou stance regarding Harding was what she needed to bring her A-game. This performance had a lack of speed and falls that I'd expect after the attack, not before it
she should have done the 3lz and done a delayed 2F since she always doubled that jump anyways. Or keep the 2Lz and done a 3T since this was not based on not jumps rather on grace and artistry which she excelled in
I couldn't agree with you more. They wanted their model champion to be the poor kid who rose out of a bad childhood to make something of themselves rather than the star quality skater who came back from a serious possible career ending injury. Had Nancy landed the triple flip there wouldn't be a question as to who was champion. Instead we have a fake champ who two footed landings and had horrible choreography but hey she was an orphan and look at her now!
How much did Disney give her to skate to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack? This was a horrible even if it would have been skated well. The only nice thing was her outfit.
I am the biggest Nancy fan ever. She didn't skate well here, but considering she was just coming back from the disastrous world's performance, I didn't think she did too badly. Just wish she would have done a double flip, left out the triple lutz, & put some ooph in her double axel. BUT, please, Caryn Cadavy was always a lovely skater. She won a bronze at '87 worlds, and if it hadn't been for her coming down with the flu at the '88 Olympics, I think she would have medaled, or at least finished in the top 5. She did go through a time - like Nancy - where she lost confidence in her triple jumps, but at the time of this competition, she was building back confidence. This isn't the last time she would beat Nancy, as Caryn won many pro competitions. When Nancy skated her best, she was better than Caryn, but this night Caryn was clearly better.
i really love this costume. one of my favorite vera wang designed costumes.

5.7!!!!!?????????? no way!!!!!!!!!!!
Those 5.7s and up were very generous for someone who fell 3x!

@@rolandgreen7484 Exactly; thank you for making that point, David. She was the best at the 1993 national championships. No one skated well.

Am I the only one he feels given the performance she gave she was overscored?

"Skating to a program she's really comfortable with?" Really???
Yes, she is way different.

5.7? Seriously
@WHATTHEBUCKSHOW Hey Buck!
if you want to call what she did choreography
Wow, she was DEVASTATED.

Oksana Bauil won based on sympathy. That is why she had problems since. But Nancy Kerrigan won in the long run.

Poor girl...just too much pressure and it took over her nerves ...

She won barely which doesn't say much at all.
She actually lost the competition overall to Caryn Kadavy.
That is so true. Karen Kadavy was a crappy skater.

@@genednomyar3383 Karyn won a bronze at 83 Worlds? Quite before her time?🤔🤔
@@waynehentley4332 So sorry; I should have written the 1987 World championships. I must have had a senior moment. 😊
@@genednomyar3383 We all have them!😀
@@waynehentley4332 Thanks, Wayne. Kind of you to say so.
