- Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - 1991 United States Figure Skating Championships, Ladies' Free Skate - Nancy Kerrigan placed 3rd in the Free Skate and was able to hold on to win the Bronze Medal.
I love it when a skater makes a mistake or two and then fights back and skates successfully! The mental strength she had is exceptional! Many people would lose confidence and give up or not have the nerve to land their jumps after that, but Nancy could fight back. She did it in other competitions too.
Love Nancy Kerrigan, especially that smile. When she smiles like that, I need to put on sunglasses. She glides across the ice and makes it look like she hasn't hardly moved, like her skates are wheels or something
She's no Tonya Harding
Khris Peru your right, she is NO Tonya Harding. She is much BETTER then that piece of trash will ever dream of being..............
Dolan Dark's child Tonya Harding Is he cheat and loser, and she should have gone to jail right along with the other ones!!!
Dolan Dark's child Your right, I don’t stand up for anyone that there competitor tries to take them out of the competition so they can win, because that is called cheating, yes in case you didn’t know that. And saying that you are Tonya Harding fan you’re probably not smart enough to know that.........
So Dolan Dark’s child do you want to keep going around and around about this, because trust me I know more about this than any of you do and I will win this argument............ so if you want to keep going bring it..........
Dolan Dark's child No. only one of them are truly happy, and her name is NOT Tonya Harding........ But hey, bring it............
Her kiss and cry interviews were always absolutely brutal
How can someone say that Nancy was better than Tonya? I can´t understand that! I'm sorry but are you guys blind? I mean, forget about what happened out the ice rink, we're talking about capacity, ability, skating skills, perfect execution of jumps, of the program! It's obvious that Tonya had a higher skating level back in time!
Guys, just look at both skating programs in this competition! Nancy misses her jumps, and half of the program wasn't clean, it wasn't impecable,
it wasn't polished! It's even funny to compare her to Tonya!
That's a fact! You guys can't deny that, just can't! Forget a little bit about if Tonya was guilty of anything or not and see what is right before your eyes!
too bad you didn't say this to Tonya....sounds like she was the one that needed to hear it.
Because Harding was inconsistent.
She won ‘91 Nationals, Skate America, and a Silver Medal at Munich. The year after she fell down to third at Nationals, and dropped down to 6th at Worlds, which was literally in her home country anyway. Not to mention she was a mess at the Olympics (although her LP was decent) and from 1992 to 1993 she won NO MEDALS AT ALL. To go from having a World Silver medal to not medalling at all for en entire season…
Kerrigan was consistent. She medaled at both 91 and 92 Worlds, ‘91-‘93 Nationals, 3rd and 2nd at Albertville and Lillehammer respectively, and was much more consistent than whatever a mess Tonya was. Tonya had decent step sequences but did not have the edge work that Kerrigan acquired. Kerrigan was much more flexible and had a 3T-3T under her belt. Harding was very sloppy and had a very tilted axis.
Tonya was always better
So why did Tonya never finish ahead of Nancy after 92 Nationals if she was "always better"? Don't give us the "she was robbed/it was politics" answer. That's just what Harding wanted everyone to believe.
She could never skate this program cleanly. I think if she had it would have been rewarded heavily. But she was not consistent with her jumps. Too many mistakes.
It's interesting and a shame that in her earlier performances of this program, she skated it better than the performances of this program later on - to be fair the very last performances. Of course, it must be pointed out that she used this program for two consecutive seasons, 90-91 and 91-92, which isn't a bad thing but it means she knew it like the back of her hand. It's a shame because the very last times she skated this program, she never hit that lutz again, and it's unfortunate because those last two performances where the big ones - Olympics and World's 92. I feel that if it was the Nancy Kerrigan after early 93, skating to this program, we would have seen this gorgeous and unique program be skated perfectly.
@@alexsdb9712 Agreed. I know some people don't care for the music but I actually think it suited her well. It's very beautiful almost hauntingly so. I actually think I prefer this music to the selections she used in the 1993-1994 season.
Can someone please tell me the name of the music at the begining of her program? Ive tried to research it and have had no luck.

I can’t believe how everyone in the top spots had mistakes except Tonya. It probably blindsided them.
The only time she skated well was the olmpics
Her airborne spin was off kilter. Did the commentator notice that?
Yes, if you’re talking about her opening move - a double Axel - it was leaning in the air hence her fall. It’s a jump, not a spin.
@@lawr17Lol, “airborne spin”, do you think the original commenter tunes into FS?
Oh my God her teeth are just have so many spaces. She must’ve gotten braces or something or got her tooth fixed because it doesn’t look like that you know in her later pictures
I had never noticed her teeth without the caps
No thank you
I can’t see anything but teeth.
Jezzzz , she wasn't so pretty with them teeth.
Lol what
@@heatherratliff1813 This is prior to her getting her teeth cosmetically fixed. You can see they’re gapped and uneven.
Nice to see her fight back the way she did!
02:08 - Nancy Kerrigan invents The Dab and becomes the best time traveling figure skater ever.
😂
Nancy was a great skater but she was always inconsistent with her jumps. Tonya always outskated her from 1986 through 1992.
Tonya was a filthy cheater we ALL KNOW THAT ..I,Tanya??? I puke!!!!
Jamie Lake You can’t cheat at doing a triple axel. Nice try though. No one will ever take that away from Tonya.
Nooo. From 86' to '94 tonya was better, she was just unfortunate and a little overweight.
Tonya was way inconsistent after 1993. Nancy was the better skater by 1994. Tonya's peak was 1986-1992.
She was in shape in 1994, in fact landing the triple axel again in 1994 and landing 5 triples at nationals
She is looking amazing.
There is something flat about Nancy's music and skating and her jumps here in the first half of her programme, the second half was better but still not that inspiring, her dress is beautiful though.
I’m torn about the abstract piece in the middle. Kinda artistic, kinda stupid and contrived.. and am I the only one who never liked this move 3:55
Stars into a butterfly. I don't think Nancy was ever the best executor of the move. Other skaters have done it better. She always seemed to not get enough height on the second move which made the sit spin look messy.
Why was she always so cursed when it came to the long program?
There was no curse on the long program at the 94 Olympics. Nancy skated it incredibly well!!!!! She also skated well in the long at the 93 Piruetten competition. And, if you'd like to see Nancy skating cleanly, and with pure joy and abandon, watch her exhibition programs at Piruetten.
