none! mcgagmes is horrible and the cheese is plastic disinigrated completely and the muffin and egg and so called non horomone free Canadian bacon is all fake or something majorly wrong. an egg bought in the dead of summer in 95 degree weather left under seat of truck which gets down to 60-70 at night for a 9 months and nothing touch it, didn't mold and didn't smell. that ain't real! if I could take pictures I would prove it. I'm in michigan and indiana. so winters here are brutal. horrible food!! mcdonalds should be banmed! in fact all fat food should be banned

The smartest thing the McD's franchises did was make the Egg McMuffin available 24 hours a day.
But, what's annoying is that they act like they are the pioneer in doing that. Jack In The Box has had breakfast items available at any hour as long as I can remember, so maybe 40+ years...
@@larrycanepa--I wrote the CEO about 20 years ago or so and asked why they didn't have a 24-hour breakfast item menu. The letter I got back was so damned mealy-mouthed...about how inefficient it was and not cost-effective, their employees wouldn't be able to cope, and blah, blah, blah. The tone of the letter p*ssed me off, it was so patronizing. So, I fired off another one...a letter designed to be in-your-face about how it didn't seem to stop Jack-in-the-Box (well, one of our two local ones has breakfast all day) and a couple of others. Of course, I never heard from McD's again, but they did introduce a limited item 24-hour breakfast menu, which our local McD's have now discontinued in the wake of COVID-19.
If only they were still two for $2. Good times
@@williamdavis6462--Since COVID-19, they've taken the breakfast menu back to breakfast hours. No more midnight Egg McMuffins. On the bright side, though, today (8/25/20) Starbucks is serving Pumpkin Spice drinks.

Egg McMuffin is so good I still remember the first time I had one waaay back in 1977. My dad explained it was "like an eggs-Benedict..but we don't have to wait for Christmas morning."
It's a fantastic morning sandwich, probably the best thing on their entire menu in my opinion.
I still love the egg mcmuffin, but used to love it even more years ago. I loved it so much I figured out how to make an exact duplicate at home. Start by putting a piece of Canadian bacon in a skillet to fry. Find a microwave-safe bowl with a bottom that is about the size of an English muffin. Crack an egg into the bowl and puncture the yolk. Microwave it for about a minute. Put the bacon and egg onto the toasted muffin with a slice of cheese and place in a warm oven for a few minutes. Voila!
For a great variation, substitute a thin slice of sharp cheddar for the American cheese.
I can confirm it’s true they use actual eggs cause I literally find the littlest piece of egg shell in my McMuffin

4:07 the egg is indeed fried. It is incorrect to say it is poached. The contraption shown fries the egg bottom and cooks the top with steam. Hardly correct to say the egg us ” poached”.
Yeah what the hell was that about? Not only did she wrongly say it was poached, but she doubled down and said that it "wasn't fried" even though the video literally shows the egg being dropped onto the griddle

@@apictureoffunction a fried egg consists of using oil too cook it. They use oil spray which is less calories and then the rest is cooked with steam. Not fried at all
tell me how you poach an egg it is not fried if it is steamed lmao you poach with water. what is used to make these eggs, its water that is turned into steam so you cant say fried that means no water on the grill witch is inaccurate but you could say steamed but the process of poaching is not far off if they used more water and poaching would take far to long for each egg that's why its called fast food
I used to love going to McDonald’s for the steak egg and cheese bagel. Once they took it off the menu i was done. Went back for the usual items like the big breakfast a few times but it just wasn’t the same.
My go-to is the sausage McMuffin with egg! And of course yummy crispy hash browns!🍳

Tried one for the first time a while back, and it became a chain of constantly buying them every other day.
Only took one bite of a single under cooked egg that looked/felt like mushed up orbees to finally kill it, though!
Haven’t been able to enjoy them at ALL the same since.

The Egg McMuffin isn't bad, a solid breakfast item. What's funny is I duplicated making them one time and found the cost to do it was about the same so it really wasn't worth it to go through the time making your own at home. My favorite thing though is the Steak Egg and Cheese Bagel. Yum.
I use one of those little microwave egg cookers with some shredded cheese mixed in and it tastes 5x better than an egg mcnuthin.

You say the Egg McMuffin is the only item made from fresh eggs. This may vary from location to location, but when I worked there the scrambled/folded eggs were made from the same supply of whole eggs. They were just cracked into pitcher and beaten by hand for fifteen minutes.
Some franchises might get along with stuff in a carton or a bottle, but not everyone.

I want one now.. I used to work at McDonald’s and I would never call the egg McMuffin healthy. They spray the grill or egg cooker with butter flavored oil, drench the bread with butter and use fake kraft American single cheese

I make homemade Egg McMuffins at home. Toasted muffin in the toaster meanwhile pop a cracked egg into a Ramekin and a sausage patty next to it in the microwave heat until the egg is Thoroughly cooked place the sausage patty on the muffin very carefully remove the egg put it on top of the sausage put a slice of cheese top it wrap it and off you go
I love Egg McMuffin‘s, but the fact they charge $4.50 for them now is ridiculous. You can make one of these at home for $1.50. It tastes exactly the same and truly takes just a few minutes to make. You can get the same contraptions to cook the eggs on Amazon for $10 or less.

People complaining about calories, is why alot of good things disappear from the menu. Its a burger place, they do offer a salad..
If you want to enjoy a REAL MCMUFFIN , tell them to cook you a fresh egg and , tell them to lightly stir the yolk .
This way , you will see that your egg is fresh and the taste will be totally different.
Regular ones taste like styrofoam and the fresh ones taste great.
The regular ones are made in a microwave and kept warm for up to 30 minutes.
The store staff is going to complain about it and tell you that they make them fresh, but they don’t.

lmao maybe where you work they make them in a microwave none of the stores i have been to even have a microwave nice try there buddy they are made on the grill fresh egg in loops with a top that goes over them and water poured into the steam part of the top and they stay in the uhc united heating cabinet that has a built in humidifier to keep them moist after 20 min they throw them out and make new ones
trust me. those eggs are fresh. in the morning they go so fast they pretty much always made to order. only time youll really get an egg that mightve sat is jusssst after breakfast rush, cause they might be using eggs that never sold. but once the ones that are left go, theyll be made to order pretty much for the rest of open hours
They are fake eggs. I have an egg intolerance issue where I cramp up horribly for hours over French toast or scrambled or fried eggs, but I can eat eggs from a lot of fast food places still and that's because they aren't the same as the real deal. It's fine by me because about the only thing I'll touch at Macdonald's is their breakfast.

The sausage McMuffin with egg also uses a fresh egg, i prefer that to the egg McMuffin. Also the egg is made on the griddle, its not poached.

its funny as i grew up egg mc muffs were my choice am sandwich but then at some point in the 80's -90's i guess the canadian bacon seemed to have a tougher "outer ring"-like a casing? and my mind changed on its own to the sausage egg mcmuff. does the canadian bacon even have any kind of casing?

They read a listener's mail recently who said he's a content writer and how he has to do a lot of research although people sometimes don't consider it real work if the research he does is on the history of the Egg McMuffin. I really think Burger King makes a better breakfast than McDonald's. You get more hash browns in an order and the croissant tastes better than an english muffin. While not by much, their biscuit sandwiches also taste better than McD's.
