IGNORE THIS IF YOU DON'T LIKE BACKSEATING. Keep an eye out for a weapon called the "Lothric Knight Greatsword". It's great for a faith build. It has innate lightning damage and infusing it with a blessed gem allows both it's physical *and* lightning damage to scale with faith while also giving you passive hp regen and bonus damage against undead. This is overall better than using a lightning gem which just increases its lightning damage and makes it so that *only* it's lightning damage scales with faith, and you're able to use blessed gems in the game a lot earlier than lightning gems.
From what I can tell, 1 point of Attunement is 0.25 agility and 1 point of Adaptability is 0.75 agility, and when it comes to agility 96 is the break-point for 11 I-frames.
The way to avoid the attack where Nadja goes underground is to go stand in the part of the arena that has the fallen brick wall, she can't break through it and will instead just come out of the ground normally somewhere in the rest of the sandy parts of the arena
Note: The reason Bleed is more useful in PvP than PvE is Bleed also affects stamina regen and max stamina. Everything that is AI controlled has unlimited stamina, so that's already pointless. To make things worse, Bleed procs only do 400 damage per proc in DS2. It's flat and scales with nothing. The player will lose like 1/3 to 1/4 of their health on a bleed, but a boss with thousands of HP will not really care.
It is even worse bleed is only 200 flat dmg...... DS2 bleed is useless for PVE. In DS1, it was usually 30% of the foe's HP (very good"damage" on NG+). Bosses took 9% max health on NG+ which could have been 1k+dmg for some bosses. Poison however is likely the strongest in DS2 and is very viable. But you can also use cheap poison arrows.
The intro of DS2 with the song you picked sets such a somber but comforting mood that really fits with the vibe of Majula. really enjoyed, I love Ds2 content! ❤
AWESOME!! I love that you keep the boss cutscenes in, great vid, also the stone door in the Gutter at 46:39 is opened by the Forgotten Key, and it has Havels set behind it !
Faith is pretty damn good in DS2, my only no-death run of the game was a faith/dex build that used the Heide Knight Spear and Disk Chime to basically become unkillable.
@vaguevigilante1369 as a shield it's basically a small shield with a base 75% physical negation and only weighing 2lbs, and with 50 stability that puts it well above most small shields. As a catalyst it's pretty decent, has 110 counter damage unlike most chimes, only requires 18 faith, it can be your second catalyst with how early you can get it, but is admittedly a lot slower than most other chimes. But where it really shines is as a weapon, you're looking at a good 400 damage split evenly between lightning and dark, because it's a shield it blocks as you attack, and it's unironically one of the best weapons to kill the Ancient Dragon with if you infuse it with lightning. The only other shield that I'd consider to be better is the Sanctum Shield, which is more built for hexers due to requiring 16 in faith and intelligence, and that weapon can't be gotten until a good ways into the Sunken City DLC.
The ghosts from the first dlc actually are immune to physical damage. The reason you were doing decent damage to begin with is because your mace was infused with lightning and buffed with sunlight blade.
the door at 46:37, the key you use for it (Forgotten Key) opens three doors like it, one that has Darkdiver Grandahl behind it, one has Havel's Gear, and the third one has the Witchtree catalyst and chime, and two spells. The poison spit I assume was one of the statues you meet in Black Gulch The big friend bug's... Fog? Musk? Pheromones? Is, iirc, an antidote mist, but it degrades gear.
The trick to the Ruin Sentinels fight is to kill the 1st one on the platform and wait for the 2nd one to jump up onto the platform while standing on the left corner edge of the platform at 21:04 and you can either kill that one solo too or get it to half health before the 3rd jumps up, then you just jump down and heal and finish the fight.
The pyromancer invader in the 1st DLC was using Great Chaos Fire Orb to leave a trail of fire on the ground. It's the special effect of chaos spell. The light spell was called Warmth and it's sole job is to heal you passively. Both of these are a pain to get in DS2 & 3 (Chaos Fire Orb isn't hard to get in 3 though)
During the runback to Velstadt, there are three Hollows underneath the stairs to ring the bell that summons the ghost pyromancer/sorcerers. If you kill all three of them (and one takes a bit to spawn from underground), you can do the rest of the runback without dealing with those ghosts. Made the runback much easier for me.
Dark souls 2 isn't perfect, but i always really liked how it delved into the deeper impacts of the undead curse. Aldia's lines, and even the first cutscene. That whole "you wont remember anyone and you wont even care" really shows how scary going hollow is
I beated dark souls 2 the first a while back using faith build and did a bit of co-op with a buddy of mines along the way. Probably the best experience I've had since I couldn't beat the Four Kings in dark souls 1 but now I completed these two games with a faith build.
Nameless King is going to be real fun as a faith only user in DS3. Best of luck to you. I know I struggled using the Lothric GS with it's 50% lightning split, I can't imagine only being able to use miracles as they'd do so little to his insane lightning resist (force miracles are dog water in DS3 to my recollection).
Note regarding skeptic's spice: it lowers the faith requirement to equip a spell by 1 point, however it does not lower the faith requirement for casting that spell, aka: if a spell requires 40 faith, and you lower the requirement to 35 so you can equip it, the spell's effects are severely gimped. A lightning spear for example will do a fraction of the damage it would normally do if you use spice to circumvent the requirement vs leveling faith enough to use it. TLDR: spices while cool on paper are worthless in practice. Edit: you addressed this in the vid not even 10 seconds after I wrote this, however regarding their use on non magic focused characters I'll tell you now as someone who's tried using spices to mix in utility magic it's just bad, even if you're using spices just for some weak healing it's infinitely better, (and easier) to just grab a pyro glove and farm a warmth spell from the Rats in saint's grave.
After getting 30 fth talk to woman that sells lightning spear , she will give you an chime that is better than one you used for most of the main game. It levels with twinkling titanite. Also you could farm for 13440 souls and get into gutter early than get key for those doors and get both Havel armor and great lightning spear earlier than dragon rider. Beside woman also gives you her set whose head piece gives +1 use for all spells so you could have +1 spear per attuned lightning spear for most of the run and remember , this just requires 30 fth Edit: Also in gutter you can get heide lance from special heide knight there. It has realy good elec scallibg if you use boltstone on it
So about the darklurker thing, trying to reach him. You DO have to hop into those pits at the end of their zones after lighting those, otherwise they don't count (at least in the original release of DS2.)
I hope when you do DS3 you try out the Lightning Stake with Canvas Talisman poise cast. You just tank a hit to deal massive counter damage. Really fun in pvp and against more humanoid monsters
@@vaguevigilante1369 Just remember, Canvas might not be the best magic adjust, but it is the best for the poise cast weapon art. You can cast through almost anything, with very few exceptions
It's wild thinking about how high the great lightning spear cast count was in the vanilla release of the game It got nerfed but you could still get a few copies of it without boosting areas or going into NG+ so it was still somewhat spammable at higher levels
You know what could be an interesting alternative to these videos? Is poison/toxic viable in each game. See how making dedicated poison builds do in each game. Btw, im not saying you can ONLY do damage with poison, just see how much it helps ina fight
Since you already played through DS1 and 2, it feels like a moot point to say this, but these games want you to be upgrading your armor, so switching armors like you were doing in this video - while sometimes is quite useful - usually isn't recommended, especially if you're looking for defense... unless you plan on upgrading each armor you switch to. It's something I used to miss when playing DS3 and Elden Ring but having played DS1 and 2 again, I'm really glad upgrading armor was removed because it took so much more time and upgrade resources than upgrading your weapon. But yeah, that might be why swapping armors wasn't as effective as you thought it might've been in this game, idk if that was the case for DS1 as well as I've yet to watch that video.
Love your stuff man. I mean this to be totally constructive , but this video could have some fat trimmed off. I think viewers would be more apt to tune in, and it shows on your demon souls video, a lot of popular videos in this genre tend to be 30-45 mins ie the backlogs or just background noise. Keep the grind up man, you’re doing awesome
Yeah as I was wrapping it up I thought I didn't have to add as much as I did. Next Dark Souls 3 video I'm gonna be more concise. Thanks for the feedback!
I really enjoyed the video but I will say, I was hoping to see more of the Faith scaling weapons, rather than just the lightning mace for the entire playthrough. There are some cool FTH boss weapons with special attacks and they actually scale well with faith (which the lightning mace does not).
@@vaguevigilante1369 they nerfed the dmg of almost all of them sadly. it was nonsense at launch pvp was just a bunch of lightning spam for a good month. bonfire ascend a few areas i forget where but you could get extra casts. when they went to balance it for pvp the pve took a huge hit too and i dont remember them ever increasing it again. it went from oneshoting people to tickling people with equal dmg reduction to pve

you are doing it wrong. faith is viable, and quite early but you have to level up attunement as fast as possible and stack lightning spears. also upgrade chime to +6 as soon as you get to mcduff. also it is important to choose progression route to collect miracles early.
Gonna be streaming my first time playing DS3 tonight at 7PM EST

This aside, i REALLY like how you display the spells and go over them all. Very nice.
Attunement also increases agility, it's nowhere near as much as adaptability but it definitely makes a difference
Yeah thank god for that lol. Dodging would’ve been hell without that
From what I can tell, 1 point of Attunement is 0.25 agility and 1 point of Adaptability is 0.75 agility, and when it comes to agility 96 is the break-point for 11 I-frames.

And hey, It's good to see you actually used the Thorned Greatsword. I remember recommending it.
Hell yeah thanks for telling me about the Altar! and i used the greatsword for a bit but I wasn't feeling it by the end so stopped but it wasn't bad!

Oh I didnt know that about the stamina. I thought it only did 200hp but 400 is more than I thought but yeah bosses have too much HP to prefer bleed
