- Today we journey through Drangliec once-more to see if it's possible to one-or two-shot every boss, miniboss, and NPC in the game. DS2 is known for it's chunky Health Bars and relatively lower damage boosting gear, so this one's a toughie!

Nice run, its really interesting to see how different your approach was in places to JK's, I can't wait to see what strats the other contestants pull out, I feel like this one will have more variety of tactics than the DS1 run did.

Glad to see creators I haven't seen invited to this challenge! Really enjoyed the vid. I would recommend adding music, especially for the montage sections. I usually put vids on in the background while I'm working, so it was a little jarring to have a few minutes of silence 😅 Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the feedback. I did think about dropping music in and probably should’ve at least for that section to be honest. I recut the montage part like 4 times haha

Man, I watched JK Leeds video and I was thinking “I wonder if Trevthedev could use his knowledge of this stuff to do some of these bosses”.
Well DS2 is definitely my weakest game mechanics-wise, so I probably missed a few things here and there!

Loved watching how your run went! If I may make a little suggestion - it's usually not a problem to have extremely quiet or non-existent music in videos, but the several minutes of near-silence around 46 minute mark made me feel worried the video had stopped or was buffering or something.
I know adding music to videos is fraught choices on YT, but video game music is generally a very safe bet to avoid copyright. The Majula Theme for example, is good for any video about Dark Souls, especially DS2!

I feel like darksouls 2 is a lot more about killing bosses quickly rather than 1 shotting. Maybe in the future a challenge where killing a boss in under say 10 seconds would be equated to a 1 shot would work a lot better?

I love how the pickaxe came into play. Was not expecting to see it used at all in this challenge
I noticed you had a much easier time with last giant than doom and jk because of counter damage, everyone assumes the great clubs will hit harder but greatsword with that extra 30% is really tough to beat

You can buff both weapons by infusing the left weapon, and using the catalyst in the right hand. Buff left weapon and use the buffing consumables to buff the uninfused weapon in main hand. Resins cannot be applied to infused weapons, but uninfused weapons with innate element should be strong with a resin. Power stancing chime hammers is my favorite setup in any dark souls game.
I saw you using this type of setup, but it wasn't really explained mid run.

Oh my god at 7:30 I had that exact same bug with Licia in a playthrough where I was going for all achievements. It was on NG+ and I was bored of farming souls for the 2 million soul memory Shrine of Winter requirement, so I figured out how to parry walk just to skip it.
The thing about Mohg and Titchy Gren sharing a voice actor is true btw. Con O’Neill voiced both characters. He’s been in a bunch of stuff, including Chernobyl. Amazing run!

This contest should be named "can you two shot every ds2 boss" like JK atempt, theres little to no boss who can trully be one shoted even with max upgraded weapons, its ridiculous, but of course its the games fault, awesome run anyway
Indeed. I wish there was more but when you have early game bosses clearing like 4,000 hp makes things a little tougher haha. I honestly was surprised though we were able to get to the endgame under the stipulations. I for sure thought LGK was impossible coming in (well, excluding gauntlet crits)

I like when all my prefered challenge runners decide to do contest. I'm always surprise how 1 simple question can give so much different approach
The pickaxe has to be the most underrated weapon in this game. It's extremely hard to use, but if you can pull it off, it does some of the most damage I've ever seen in this game. I feel like in ds2 especially, some of the better weapons are harder to use, large weapons aren't bad, they just require higher skill from the player

For DS3 it’d be awesome if you do a one-shot optimization video like with your dps videos alongside the challenge. That’d be very interesting to see
From what i know the best build choice would be to get 99 in faith and int, and try and get climax early by killing darklurker regularly to be able to 1 shot more bosses.

Nobody tried the helix halberd... I heard it was able to dish some serious high counter damage, when dealing both a counter hit and hitting with the sweetspot

I wonder how the mundane infusion might be useful, since it's scaling is based off of the lowest stat you have a fully maxed oit character could be incredibly powerfull.
In vanilla I believe it would, but I believe they changed it in SoftS sadly so it’s not as powerful
What if an enemy takes some environmental damage and is then 1 shot? I'm pretty sure you can get covetous demon to poison itself by crashing into the jars around the arena, then you could 1-shot whatever is left no problemo.
BTW 6:14 that slab is a guaranteed drop, from the crystal lizard.
Per our rules, we decided if the enemy got killed by environmental damage (a la Dragonrider) it would count as a one-shot, but if they took any damage and then you killed them it would be a 2-shot.

i learned the thing about the pigaxe and that you can kill executionor chariot without the gate thing, how is it that after 400 hours of playing the game and watching many videos on it I still learn new things??

I do not sadly. I know the “plural of anecdote isn’t data” and all that jazz, but given my and others experience it sure seems like there is some startup factors or something going on. I had a stretch of like 20 attempts on bosses using power stances attacks and wouldnt get a single crit. Possible of course, but over that many hits it seemed unlikely that 1/20 was happening as predicted. I know there used to be a glitch where you got a crit, removed the gauntlets, and then you would always crit afterwards, so I suspect there is something in the code that isn’t quite correct.
@trevthedev6134 maybe anecdotes from you and other creators would lead someone down the way to figure it out :)
I mean basically jk experienced it as well, and in my last playthrough I tried them but thought the were non functional, as they didn't seem to do anything. But I know nothing about the inner workings of ds, while you guys know a lot and see things completely different than us who yet have to git gut can ;

Concerning the targets you didn't get in the Ivory King DLC, I thought you were allowed to kill bosses in more than 2 hits to be able to access later targets, you just wouldn't get any points for that boss.
Nah we had the rule that if you couldn't kill something, you couldn't progress beyond that specific boss. I think if we could a lot of people would've given up the point on Darklurker and would've grabbed climax asap.

Fair point yeah. I guess I was really deadset on getting infusions unlocked asap. Fwiw the easiest one-shot strat I found was the poison thing I showed off later on, which I was kinda avoiding doing early.
I disagree. There are many ways to 1 shot the pursuer and I believe JK leeds 1 or 2 shot him not to mention the ballistas are funny

You did watch the video, right? "available to you in the game" -> it was specified, that they can only add things that they would be capable of acquiring in infinite amounts, as long as they would put in the time. As in they *are available*, they just have to spend huge amounts of time doing something basically unrelated to the actual challenge itself..
They even specifically went as far as giving some proof in-game instead of just saying "it was written on wiki" which can be wrong (if you watched JKLeeds video, you can see an example where he relied on info, which for some reason turned out to be false).
Also, if you did pay attention, things like Brightbug where limited to 3 and then additional 3 usages on successful attempt at one(two)shot.
Besides, Lemon does not pay them enough to do all of that grinding!!
You clearly have never had to grind for a specific item for 2 hours
