Stevie Ray Vaughan- Little Wing Reaction
Stevie Ray is and remains the baddest man on an electric guitar. In the entire world.
Many say one of THE best blues guitar performances in history.
Arguably the best dynamic blues guitarist that ever walked on this planet. That guitar is plugged in to his soul.
GT1Man agreed 🤠🥃
Arguably is an understatement. The guitar was plugged into his soul, he was plugged into the blues.
I agree but the bassist did really good too.
I'd say the best guitarist ever I've been around for a long long long time my friend and he is definitely to me the best I was blessed enough to see five times live
Facts
My favorite song of all time. Midnight drive windows down radio cranked. That's my happy place.
Life Without You live is unforgettable
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a major part of my life when I was your age. Hearing music like this was the norm in my youth. When Stevie died in a helicopter crash, I was in college. I remember dressing in black for 35 days after that--one day for every year of his life. I'm choked up and feeling like a proud daddy when I watch your reaction to this great music. Oh yeah...I'm subscribed and will be sending more folks your way.
Let's give it up for Jimi Hendrix for creating this and all his other masterpieces. True legend and genius.
Not a competion Al, they are both not of this world
Both beyond humanity.
@@billmavin1998 Jimi died and saw Stevie.......Gave SRV his gift and Stevie ran with it to the next level.
@@billmavin1998 what really cooked my noodle when I saw him live was the fact he can play Hendrix and made you believe he was channeling him right there on stage.
Jimmy was insanely talented. His version of this song recorded was under 3 minutes. This is the rare case of a cover that surpassed the original.
He is one of those musicians that comes along once in your lifetime just phenomenal
I heard that through my radio when I was 14 in the 80's.....i'm in my 40's and love to watch young kids mind explode even if they watch it "Live"
"LENNY" from the same 1983 show at the El Macombo is so good!!
Love your reactions. You seem so genuine and connect with the music like it moves your soul. Thanks for all the SRV love. One of the brilliant Texas musicians and guitar GOAT imho. If you don't feel this in your heart and soul, you may not have a pulse. As much as I love Stevie, Little Wing is also heart breaking for me. RIP SRV.
Lenny...a gorgeous song he wrote for his wife. It soothes my soul every time I listen to it.
ItS like his nervous system was wired into the guitar. He lived in my town, and we love him well.
From, Austin, TX
Stevie could shred like nobody, but he never lost the musicality of the song. The melody was always there.
Until you see and hear him, one has no idea....simply the GOAT!!!
I just love how he goes into that punk-jazz free form at the end. Very artistic indeed!
If you haven’t done it yet the best SRV performance ever is Stevie Ray Vaughn, Texas Flood, Live at The El Mocambo. It’s a true work of art. Flawless victory on the guitar. Same show as this.
Yeah, that's THE ONE! That performance was transcendent for me. I was just one big goosebump looking, listening, and FEELING that performance. It changed the way I view other guitarists no matter what genre. There are a lot of guitarists I enjoy but for that night and that show, the stars aligned and it was the best I've heard. Period
One of the best guitar playing performance period....in any style of playing
This video was recorded by City TV, which is a Toronto Canada television station. Stevie played at a local club called the El Mocambo. They taped the entire concert and showed it live on television back in 1993. I was living there and watched it on TV.
SRV and Johnny Copeland "Tin Pan Alley"
Stevie was a bad man!!! Little Wing is actually a song written and performed by Jimi Hendrix. But, Stevie took it to another level. Crossfire, Tightrope, and Mary Had a Little Lamb are all amazing tunes.
Yes, & the pedal he's using is actually Henrdrix'; his older brother bought if from Hendrix for him. In most of his performances of Henrdix' music he uses that pedal to get as close to his sound as possible, while mixing in his own stlye & sounds.
My favorite part of this performance is at 5:55 when he snaps out of his trance and looks at Tommy like "did you f'ing hear that!?" Lol. Legend!
This is my favorite of his performances of Little Wing. Gets me all the time.
I say it all the time but he was the greatest musician I have ever seen in my life! Pure soul to the point of leaving the earth when he played, I am really at a loss for words trying to describe how other worldly he was! Your response is exactly what I am trying to say so you get it but to see it in person is even an another level! Also he got sober a decade later and was even light years better then this, absolutely mind blowing! You won’t be disappointed with anything from Stevie!
Yes Stevie was out of this world a legend and blues god .and a blues man on guitar probly a class of his on rip Stevie ray vaughn!
I saw him live twice. He just played with so much passion, and was still always in control of everything. Every note he played was a work of art, straight from the depths of his soul.
August 27th, 1990, I was working as a recording engineer. I was hanging out when I got to the studio, and had the radio on. The announcement came on that he'd died that night in East Troy WI.
I wept. I felt like I'd lost a friend.
Life Without You, Stevie Ray Vaughn
at capitol theatre
Awesome
Yep, Capital Theater.
I agree 100% when he picked up that guitar either he turned into the guitar or that guitar turned into Stevie Ray is so flow through that guitar and the soul of that guitar flow through him
It makes me both happy and sad when I see Stevie play. R.I.P SRV
Your reactions are so true and genuine as it pertains to SRV. You reacted to this masterpiece as one should react. It's genius beyond anything any of us has ever seen on a guitar. It so far out there yet familiar and comforting. This is one where you have to sit back and take in the picture, not hang on each note.
Where would he be today...RIP SRV. He was beautiful!
He scared me. He never ran out, notes just kept dripping from his fingertips. Unreal!
Eric Clapton echoed something you said: "I have to tell this story: We played on the same bill on his last two gigs. On the first night, I watched his set for about half an hour and then I had to leave because I couldn't handle it!. I knew enough to know that his playing was just going to get better and better. His set had started, he was like two or three songs in, and I suddenly got this flash that I'd experienced before so many times whenever I'd seen him play, which was that he was like a channel. One of the purest channels I've ever seen, where everything he sang and played flowed straight down from heaven. Almost like one of those mystic Sufi guys with one finger pointing up and one finger down. That's what it was like to listen to. And I had to leave just to preserve some kind of sanity or confidence in myself."
Nobody...and I mean nobody played a guitar like Stevie.
I damn near cried the day he died. Struck down in his prime...I can only imagine what miracles he would have performed had he lived.
See, "Third stone from the Sun" is immediately after that and you haven't seen or heard MIND BLOWN till you hear and SEE how that song is performed❗
I have never seen anybody react to this song. Yet
Truely mind blowing!!!!🤘🤘🤘
Baby girl, I'm so glad that you're so into SRV! You're definitely not afraid to let your emotions show and that shows a lot about your character. Fine job young lady and a great choice. Do your thing!
You will want to look at several of his other performances and really see how he does it. I've never heard him play Voodoo Chile the same way twice.
RIP Stevie. So great.
SRV puts the stank on it like no other... RIP STR the GOAT
SRV THE G.O.A.T WITH MY GUY JIMI HENDRIX THANKS FOR HIS SERVICES ARMY STRONG 💪 U.S.NAVY SECOND TO NONE GREATEST FORCE LAND SEA OR AIR GOD BLESS YOU AND OUR FAMILY'S AMEN
Little Stevie and Scribe in the morning before work, yes please.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Stevie was one of the best guitar players ever! If you haven't heard it, please check out SRV, Riviera Paradise. You rock !
What you said about the guitar having a whole vocal performance is absolutely true. Jimi Hendrix did not write this song as an instrumental-the original has lyrics. Stevie is effectively playing the guitar part and the vocal melody at the same time.
All of SRV was heart and soul. One of the best ever! Saw him in Harrisburg Pa back in the day. One of the best concerts I saw. And I've seen a lot.
Where does the man start, and the guitar end. When SRV picks up his axe, they become one! Genius is when a person makes his or her craft look effortless! He is a Genius!!!! ❤️ your reaction, girl you get prettier every time I watch you. HAPPPY, BLESSD, PROSPEROUS, AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR! ❤️ Ya! 🙏✝️❤️
I still can't believe I saw SRV in '83 when he was opening act for the Moody Blues...I didn't appreciate him...I was there for Nights in White Satin...who knew? 🎸😎🎸😎
if i recall correctly, jimi wrote this song around a letter a fan wrote. beautiful.
SRV Baby! 5 is the number, that's how many times I saw him in concert. I feel luckier every time I think about it.
Complete mastery of his instrument, true Genius, what a loss to the world of music his death was
srv -“lenny” is a must do any version
I watched him one time break a string, and he just changed up his hand location, and kept playing until the song was finished, then he clanged guitars for a song, and went back to his SRV Strat for the remaider of the concert. Thank for the reaction!
Told you! Lots of soul!!!
When you're ready for a softer side of SRV, try "Riviera Paradise". It's slower but very pretty.
That song is to be played at my funeral.. it's my all-time favorite SRV song.
I've been a guitarist most of my life...but when I saw SRV in concert in 1985, I said "The hell with it...I could NEVER be like him." That's why Eric Clapton called him the greatest guitarist he's ever seen.
Your pure emotion just like that man was. Respect!
Life without You is by far my favorite SRV performance. His guitar playing in on point, and 1/3 of the song he plays the guitar behind his back. You've never seen anything like it. My Favorite song by SRV is Life By The Drop, which was written by his childhood best friend. They both played music, and his friend saw SRV's career skyrocketing and leaving him behind. Here is the link the link to his Life Without You performance. ua-cam.com/video/DQ4REYdCkTw/v-deo.html
😂 your face at the end says it all! Just jaw dropping..love your reaction! Next try Texas Flood Live at El Macambo !
Mind blown for sure.
My favorite live track by SRV is “Lenny” Live from Live at the El Mocambo.
..so good! 🤙🏼
Perfection! Couldn't believe I was able to find the Live at the El Mocambo DVD in a used DVD/movie store this past weekend, score!
Dude, thats almost like winning the lottery! Well maybe not but DAMN!
No way!!!
That's not sweat, that's "soul" oozing through.
The really scary thing about SRV was he could play like this for hours with no loss in ability or intensity. Other players are good for a few songs, but the man was actually not human when it came to endurance.
I agree. I read somewhere that Tommy Shannon his bassist told about how he played a long show, and as soon as he got on his bus, he was playing the guitar. He lived to play it. He wasn’t in it for the money.
Yep crazy hand strength
You are a beautiful old soul in a - pls don’t sue me - beautiful young shell.
Thank you for proving I’m not a demented old fart for loving SRV and for crying when I see him playing like this 🙂
I loved that look on your face. Mind blown. No words. Beautiful.
This is my favorite song of all time!!!
Amazing! 🔥🔥🔥I LOVE SRV!!! Greatly missed. 😭😭😭
You really need to watch and react to Stevie's version of third Stone from the sun. It will blow your mind.
He played thick ass strings like 13s... No one had hands like him to bend those strings and make that guitar tell a story....... 👍
Best cover of this Hendrix song ever!!
I know you already did Texas flood but you need to watch it again from this same concert. Blow you away.
Texas Flood El Mocambo amazing
One good thing about good music is that it brings us all together. No color, no race, no hate, just good music and good people
brain have you ever lived in wyo. ?
Maybe just Maybe this is the best guitar performance Ever . It felt like Jimi was right there with Him! Your reaction was Priceless!!
You got it girl! This is Stevie pulling out all the stops. There are many great performances by him but I particularly enjoy any version of this song as it has extended places where he is, like you said, one with the guitar. A kind of magic.
Years ago, I knew a stripper who danced to this to close the show. Beautiful girl, amazing dancer with or without clothes (lol). She understood what was going on with this song and would build up and chill out with Stevie’s playing. It all fit together so well. An artist understanding an artist.
If you want to understand what he was thinking a little bit better, check out Jimi Hendrix’s version. That was his inspiration. Jimi’s version has lyrics. Stevie could sing but he chose to let the guitar talk on this one and if you know the words, the guitar is singing them. Amazing stuff that is almost spooky.
The best use of time and space to bring in dynamics
SRV with Johnny Copeland "Tin Alley". It's right up your alley!
Another great review. Glad you're reacting to lot's of SRV. You bring it girl👍👍
Riviera Paradise! If you want to soulful guitar playing, Riviera Paradise is what you need to hear. Love Stevie, love all his stuff, and Riviera Paradise is my absolute favorite piece from him. Such a beautiful soulful instrumental. Either studio or live version. So good!!!
Love SRV. Love watching you too !!
Beautiful performance by Stevie of the Jimi Hendrix song! Check out the original which believe or not has words. Also for more mind blowing guitar watch Jimi Hendrix play the “Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock.
SRV is the greatest guitarist EVER!
Love Stevie Ray. Try “Mary had a little lamb.” It’s unbelievable. Live version is the best.
This is great performance also
Andrew Fisher That’s a fun super cool funky blues song playing with a nursery rhyme!
Which live version? There are several and they are all amazing.
Can You imagine the the music him and Jimi are are making in heaven???
Your SRV reactions, are the best.
I love the fact that you turn the volume up! Thank you....yeah, all the video and audio we are blessed to still have, and if used properly, has the ability to transend one far above the woes and troubles pushed upon us by society gone mad...
STEVIE RAY VAUGHN "LIFE WITHOUT YOU" LIVE IS A GREAT PERFORMANCE!✌❤🤘
One of my favourite performances. Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm not sure how anyone would bother arguing the point. Stevie was without a peer as a guitarist. A truly objective person would admit this. Above that, for all his swag onstage, he was a humble and kind person, especially after he got clean and sober---and he gave God the glory for it!
SRV = GOAT...
Lovin your appreciation for a good guitar solo , love your channel homegirl .
Awesome, great vid, thanks for playing Little Wing!
Stevie was a mad scientist and his guitar was his Frankenstein monster....
BB King "I've said that playing the blues is like having to be black twice. Stevie Ray Vaughan missed on both counts, but I never noticed."
He's not playing that guitar. He's dancing with it.
Stuff makes me want to hold hands with my enemies and WEEP at the beauty of life, music and this guys magic. Your reactions are great. Lost and ascendant with this wizard of a musician.
The most beautiful song? Some say so. I agree.
Someone just fell into the Stevie trance.
Gives me chills
You should also listen to Jimi’s original of this beautiful song on his album Axis Bold As Love. Yes, Stevie became one with his guitar.
Stevie ray Vaughan was channeling Jimi Hendrix. Watch Jimi Hendrix doing little wing. That's what inspired Stevie.
The piece around his neck is called a Squashblossom and it’s typically a woman’s necklace (silver and turquoise) and I want one really bad but I’m not a rock star and could never pull it off like he does lmao!
I saw this on city tv live from the El Mocambo ... My intro to the GOAT
This I believe to be his MAGNUM OPUS! And fitting tribute to JIMI we all can enjoy!
The guitar was invented for this man to eventually play it.
