Saw him in concert numerous times and never heard him play any song the same way twice. He played what he felt in the moment and made you feel it with him. RIP to the Master of the Stratocaster and Texas legend.
Miss Scribe, you make this old lady smile! Been listening to this music for years and years, watching you love it makes me appreciate each song a little more. 🤘✌️
Hendrix was popular because he was black, and a novelty on a rock guitar. He had talent, but not anywhere near SRV. Any argument about it would point out the fool that thinks SRV was not the GAOT. End of discussion...
Un Garza what? Because Jimi was black? Novelty? Cmon man, SRV is out of this world but if there was no Jimi, there was no SRV. Let’s give credit where credit is due. Eric, Jeff, Pete all said when they saw Jimi for the first time, they stated “what da f are we gonna do now?” SRV on any given day is just as good as Jimi but Jimi is the one who revolutionized guitar world and played role model to many of the later guitarists.
@@unmalo2768 ....BS there was nobody that could paint music like Hendrix. SRV was awesome but he lived longer to perfect his craft. Every electric guitarists was following Hendrix lead.
One of my favorite SRV videos, is one where he's doing a sound check before a show. He walks on stage in a heavy coat, yawns, straps on the guitar, and then just shreds with no warm up. It's amazing to see and hear, given that there was no audience, no "show" to put on until later.
An avalanche of notes and everyone hits your soul. The GOAT no doubt about that. Listened to Hendrix even before my teens, but SRV took it to another level. Un fkn believable.
Stevie was unbelievable to watch live. I had the privilege of seeing him live four times, I couldn't comprehend how what I was hearing came from a guitar, a bass and drums. He played every note like an artist. RIP Stevie we miss you.
SRVs older brother once said, "Stevie plays guitar like he's breaking out of prison!" You are into some great stuff, girl! SRV with the thick strings giving us that dirty groove!
SRV = GOAT fantastic reaction. May I suggest Grand Funk Railroad"inside looking out" live 1969. Super funky, and one of the best live performances ever imo. RIP Stevie
@@juliemanarin4127 Diffrent styles but both are GOATS, SRV more on the blues side of things and although Jimmy Page can certainly rock some blues it's more on the rock side.
When it comes to the guitar SRV was an absolute beast!! He was a once in a lifetime talent. His live shows were off the chain. He did not need a lot of production on his albums just give him his band and 6 strings and let the man do his thing. God knows I still miss him.
He makes it look easy because he's one with the instrument. He's mastered technique to such an extent that it can now just flow out from a higher power. Just like Jimi.
Thank you for covering SRV. This show was recorded at Austin City Limits on PBS, and continues to be the longest running music show in the history of television. Living in Austin I got to see Stevie Ray Vaughn many times, and had the opportunity to meet him backstage at Prince's Purple Rain Tour. SRV was extremely gracious and appreciative of his recognition. Rest in peace, Stevie.
I loved your reaction!!! Stevie was a Monster on the Guitar..... RIP.....for a more Bluesy Stevie, check out Tin Pan Alley with Johnnie Copeland. You wont be disappointed! Keep the great Reactions coming!
I heard somewhere that instead of the standard 8 too 11 gauge guitar strings he insisted on using 13 gauge like 50 to 75 % thicker .. and it made a huge difference in the complex sounds he could awaken in this beautiful instrument in his hands oh lordy .. R.I.P Stevie
@@shanemccormick6072 John Mayer once remarked that he could play that guitar for about 20 seconds then his arms would cramp up...Stevie played up to 3 hours during a concert with those heavy strings & yeah bending 3-4 @ at a time!
I’m a incredible proud DALLAS, Tx man & was very blessed to have pretty much knew of his childhood threw to his incredible success and untimely passing. For.a really short & skinny man he had huge hands that were insanely strong. Yes he used the largest strings that were produced in that era and he had them way higher off the bridge than basically anyone I’ve ever heard or seen live. #1 there had a lot of neck changes due to how easily he bent them or broke them. Breaking strings were common every show. A very down to earth man that was as humble as anyone I know of that like so many others. Passed way to soon. He went threw Hell but overcame addiction and flourished for a very short period. When Hendrix said he was the greatest guitarist of all time its hard to not agree with the icon. They were so far ahead of everyone else it was crazy. I often think about if they hadn’t passed and were still here. What their sound would of become with the technology and equipment threw out history getting better & better until today’s period. They built their equipment/guitars from pieces to produce that sound that blew anyone away who was fortunate to hear them or see them live. Including piers that were just as or more successful as they became. That’s the greatest thing any musician can have. Huge stars saying your the best. I can’t imagine the feeling he had hearing this from Jimmy. RIP Stevie
@@markwambolt2820 yeah just watch his left fingers when he resumes playing after dropping his pic the first time. He's bending the floor bottom strings all the way up almost all the way up the fretboard like it was nothing. He was so rough with his guitar that's why he was continuously having to tune it during a song. The strings would lose some from being forced to bend when they didn't want to he was phenomenal just amazing

SRV is the king, nobody compares to him in tone and raw feeling. He's also one of the most humble and down to earth musicians I think exists, and he's my role model for how he kicked addiction and was able to live a full and free life in sobriety. RIP to the greatest, I miss the guy every day.
Stevie really was the greatest and like all outstanding guitarists the instrument just becomes an extension of who they are. Probably more so with him than anyone I’ve ever seen other than Jimi Hendrix.

Jimi recorded Voodoo Chile (long, studio version on his album Electric Ladyland) and Voodoo Child Slight Return (shorter). Stevie is doing Voodoo Child Slight Return.
His “Soundcheck” full :28 minute version. Just woke up, comes strolling in wearing a full-length fur coat, Cowboy hat and boots; says a few things, wipes his eyes; picks up the guitar and blows our minds!
