@Sky Dome Here's a hilarious thing I encountered after siding with volkihar clan: ua-cam.com/video/c8VarqCAx9g/v-deo.html Dawnguard had a good idea , a misleading title and trailer and a bunch of nonsensical story choices.
Serana is such a bad follower. Especially in Nordic Ruins. She primarily uses frost magic (the weakest possible, as tonnes of enemies are resistant to frost) and vampiric drain, which is useless against undead. Also, as a vampire, her health can't regenerate in the sun. So unless you have the heal undead spells obtained from Castle Volkihar, she can be permanently downed in the sunlight. Celann ftw.
Harkon: I offer you immortality and incredible magic abilities, and you can stay in our cool secluded castle. Me: Yeah... The Dawnguard have armored huskies though...
I have the reverse situation going on. One Vampire hunter character and more than half a dozen of vampire characters. Also have never stayed werewolf beyond the companions questline.
Vampires are some of the most cunning and dangerous prey, of which only the most skilled hunters can triumph. A poorly placed crossbow bolt, one short swing, a moment's hesitation could change who's the hunter and who is the prey. Such is the thrill of the Great Game, and we forever hunt IN PRAISE OF LORD HIRCINE!!!
Joining the Dawnguard and then becoming a Vampire Lord after the questline feels somehow poetically parallel to the first incarnation of the faction, since they worked themselves out of the job and some became vampires themselves.
I find it quite ironic that the vampire hunters were so good at their job people started believing vampire’s weren’t a real threat and the dawnguard were a waste of resources

One thought that occurred to me while playing the DLC is that..... why aren't the Dawnguard aligned or affiliated with the Daedric Prince Meridia? Her and Azura are the only Daedric Princes who aren't evil and the former UTTERLY DESPISES Undead. Her sword also happens to be named "Dawnbreaker". The more recent full play through I did, where I tried to complete everything possible, I took vampire route, so fighting the Dawnguard as a group that kep coming at me is familiar. But going Dawnguard could be very memorable, especially if you really lean into it, use their equipment, and train in restoration for their rare anti-undead spells. Their armour, axes, shields, crossbow and restoration spells are all cool.
I love the Dawnguard dlc it’s my favourite the characters, weapons and armour are all very interesting. I would always choose to join the dawnguard and hunt the vampire menace with my undead dragon Durnehviir 🐉 and enchanted rune war axe. ☀️
I usually play as a Dawnguard Werewolf but then turn into a Vampire Lord so I can traverse into the Soul Cairn and then I turn back to a Werewolf so that I can rejoin the Dawnguard and fight Harkon. They shoulda made it possible to marry Serana without mods. She is too like-able to just give us little teases like that. Frickin Bethesda 🤦♂️
Idk how she's likable. She is impossible to please. Always complaining. It's either too cold or too hot, too dark or too sunny. She can't even decide whether she prefers being in a cave or out in the wilderness. She's just bipolar.
You do realise that all of the dawn guard sans the dragonborn is made up of mortal men. Man what is up with these snooty replies that people leave on other people's comments, makes me want to punch their faces in.
Soooo question about the Altmer. How DO they age? Do they age slower then humans? Like they stay a child much longer then the humans. Or do they slow down the aging at a certain age?
I’ve always had the same question😂 like I don’t think it’s ever been explained. Are they like 1 years for like 5 years and so on? Or do they age normally until adulthood then slow down?
How in the world did the jarl of a fairly small fishing town (I believe this was before the Black Briars) have enough money to build a castle the size of the current city?
(1) Riften was once much larger, as we saw in *ESO.* I believe they had to reconstruct and bring in their walls in the aftermath of the rampage of the Ghost of Sinmur. (2) The size of the province and its settlements in-game versus in-lore are not consistent. It's just a matter of game design limitations. In lore, Riften is a much larger city, just as Skyrim would be a much larger region.
Timely finding this video today. I'm playing through Dawnguard again now. I just gathered all the ingredients to open the soul cairn. There are a lot of creepy places in Skyrim. But, that soul cairn just sucks the life and breath right out of me. I hate to go down that rabbit hole but there's nothing for it. Gotta go! Thanks for the video!
Best questline ever. Dawnguard is love, Dawnguard is life. It has Cool-ass tilesets, Crossbows, Serana, Good level design, Killing vampires, Sun magic, Serana, Cool armor, Florentius Baenius (the best TES character ever), and Serana.
@@samuraijaco1 ok thanks because I mostly play a sneak vampire hunter. It's fun seeing vampires run around scared knowing that they are being picked off 1 by 1.
i love the stories you tell i hope you make more but it would be a lot more interesting if you do a play through of what you are talking like letting a npc say it and we aren't just looking at pictures js
I really hope that another monster hunter guild makes it to TES 6 but with even more cool gadgets and weapons to use. This portion of skyrim was my absolute favorite.
I remember a play through I did once before dawnguard. A mad khajiit vampire. He had a hatred for vampires and would hunt them down. He never quite grasped he was one himself. But any he came across fell to his volley of spells. Spells that summoned and launched flaming wheels of goat cheese. Yes he was a worshipper of sheggorath, the skooma cat. The madness came when moon sugar stopped working for him, and then skooma.
After the vaquishing of the Vampires it's be interesting if you could grow your army and eventually have them as a third faction in the civil war. For people who hate the Empire AND the Stormcloaks
Serana: "Dragonborn, thanks to your efforts in leading the Dawnguard and in purging vampires in every Hold, I am now the only vampire left in Skyrim... Wanna become a vampire and make babies?" Dragonborn: "Sure, why not" _And so does the cycle begin anew..._
@@Aethuviel they could not make children, no. Female vampires are known to be sterile. More particularly “pure blooded” female vampires because the process of becoming a daughter of cold harbor is particularly brutal and destroys their body and soul (due to them being tortured by molag bal himself) However non pure blooded male vampires can make children with non vampires creating Dhampirs or half vampires. The only well known one being the grey prince from oblivion.
Hmmmmmmn I wonder if I will ultimately be punished for my heracy against my kind since I normally creat an ancient vampire and enlist to hunt my kind down...and Isran never suspects that a night walker roams the halls of Fort Dawnguard....
eh, i'd rather the dragonborn side with the vampires. that would mean that we have another surviving main protagonist out there somewhere in future games. Like the nereverine. it would also mean that the dragons had a permanent guard against them. it could even open up the possibility of the blades rising again as vampires, or at least having it's most elite members offered the chance to become a vampire and fight dragons forever. Honestly, if the dragonborn is immortal, it effectively means that the world will never end. Alduin can never succeed against him and that means his title of "world eater" becomes just that, an empty title. You also brought up that if the dawnstar ending was canonical that serana might seek a cure for herself. clearly, that's never going to happen. She says that herself. She has no interest in finding a cure because she does view vampirism as a disease, rather it's something that she worked very hard for and went through a lot to achieve. so, another perk of siding with the vampires is the possible hookup with her, since she is pretty hot and technically a princess. really hard to beat that.
I miss the feature that Vampires attack cities at night killing citizens. It was giving you the extra motivation to beat the dlc with the Dawnguard faction so the attacks would stopped. 😢
Yeah. I think people hated those attacks because too many NPCs would die in those attacks. It was frustrating losing shopkeepers, especially. However, without the city attacks, the vampire "crisis" hardly seems like a crisis at all. There isn't any urgency and most of the time when approached by the Dawnguard, my character hasn't even encountered any vampires yet at all.
Actually, the attacks would continue even after you complete the Dawnguard questline, it just happened less frequently. On the other hand, siding with the Volkihar stopped the attacks completely. Just thought I should point it out....
@@sahidmerced2542 I haven't had an attack by vampires IN a city in so at least 2 playthroughs. A Google search verifies that a LOT of other people haven't either. I side with the Dawnguard with my legionarie character and with the vampires with my necromancer (even if i heal myself later to do the undeath mod) but one of my biggest moral dilemmas is that why the Dawnguard are obviously good guys, there is the risk for them to becom zealots and terrorize peoole in their "hunt against evil"
Jacopo Mazzo if you’re a good vampire, they still will hunt you down for “the crime of vampirism.” You don’t even need to hurt anyone, just having the disease is enough for them to want to brutally kill you. There’s no grey area with them.
CeriseArt Yeah thats what worries me about them, there are a lot of good vampires like Serana, Sybille Stentor or even Janus Hassildor, who's a count in oblivion and still a fair ruler. Obviously the Dawnguard are the best protection against evil vampires in Skyrim, but Isran is not a very good person and is basically a zealot -not surprising since he was a vigilant of stendarr- and I don't want the Dawnguard to gain too much decisional power and start some state police shit. Best thing would be if Isran was replaced by a moderate leader
@@jacopomazzo4949 It's pretty hilarious that the only reason you have to do Gunmar's and Sorine's favor quests (unless you have good persuasion skills) is because both of them know that Isran is such an asshole that they would only work with him under the most extenuating circumstances.
To be perfectly honest I enjoy the build that joined the Volkihar clan more. Harkon has a kind of Palatine charm and sometimes it's fun being his Vader. The badass right hand who keeps order wiping out lesser clans and assassinating dawnguard agents. Damn it's fun being evil in these games
@@msharmall7298 if you talk with Serana at one point instead of, "does it bother you that we're working against your father" you'll ask if she has a problem working with him, and she breaks down the rule of two. A band of outcast mercenaries turned vampire hunters have a more impressive fort than all the Jarls' homes combined (cept for windhelm) ... that's just sad. Who else here has never been to the Vigilant base before it was burned?
u should add that Isron is something of a zealot, hes so committed to the destruction of vampires, that even those vampires that cause no harm to anyone fall under this edict. blinded by his hatred, he would destroy anyone even accused of being a vampire, not to mention refusing aid offered by vampires who only wish to live in peace. in his zeal, he misses the idea that...taking the strengths of ones enemy for ones own can make facing that enemy much easier
When I was first playing through the dlc back then, I thought there would be severe consequences if you go too far into the quest line. Cities being attacked gets annoying over time in my opinion. However, what if the vampire coven in Morthal had conquered the city once you reach a certain point in the dlc? This would only happen if you did not finish the quest involving said coven beforehand. Gives off that feeling of dread or a bit of confusion about the situation. Then come to realize what had transpired.

Hi, Scott. I love that you guys have actually covered the Dawnguard. We are a little short on funds right now. I appreciate the free publicity.
Heard they're reforming the Dawnguard, vampire hunters or something, out in the old fort near Riften. Maybe I'll join up myself!
WHY IS EVERYONE STEALING MY FUCKING LINE

What else is there left to steal? Already took your sweet roll. 😈
I love the Dawnguard dlc it’s my favourite the characters, weapons and armour are all very interesting. I would always choose to join the dawnguard and hunt the vampire menace with my undead dragon Durnehviir 🐉 and enchanted rune war axe. ☀️
"Vampires Bane" is basically just hitting the vampire with focused and dense magicka, since the sun is basically just that
Do a video on "The March of Mountains" I want to know more about those giants.
I’m playing your fallout 4 paladin build. It’s fantastic. Love your videos.
I've been wairing for this video FOR 84 YEARS
Do a video for possible sotrylines for TES 6 if it was held at the same time as Skyrim
I'd like that too!
I would like to see a video about Savos Aren's group in Labarynthian. I normally side with the dawnguard just because being a vampire is frustrating.
Everytime I have trouble sleep I play you're guy's videos because your voices are so soothing so like that's for the amazing sleep love yous
I always love the mortal men vs powerful monsters scenarios
You realize that the Dragonborn is essentially a dragon wearing a mortal skin, right?
You do realise that all of the dawn guard sans the dragonborn is made up of mortal men. Man what is up with these snooty replies that people leave on other people's comments, makes me want to punch their faces in.
I love your videos ... always great topics and quality. Very easy to understand. Keep it up!
They far out live humans like those thalmor before i killed them

How in the world did the jarl of a fairly small fishing town (I believe this was before the Black Briars) have enough money to build a castle the size of the current city?
plot armor. maybe a dragon break. or bethesda just didn't think about it at the time. lol.
Gotta go! Thanks for the video!
we all know what a "ritual" with Molag Bal entails
Best questline ever. Dawnguard is love, Dawnguard is life.
It has Cool-ass tilesets, Crossbows, Serana, Good level design, Killing vampires, Sun magic, Serana, Cool armor, Florentius Baenius (the best TES character ever), and Serana.
I have to say... the heavy dawnguard armor is one of my favorite sets in the whole damn game.
Do they have light armour?
@@ainzooalgownoverlord8913 Yeah, but there's something about the heavy set that I prefer
@@samuraijaco1 ok thanks because I mostly play a sneak vampire hunter. It's fun seeing vampires run around scared knowing that they are being picked off 1 by 1.
@@ainzooalgownoverlord8913 lol no worries!!! Enjoy your hunt!!! Especially with your fancy-shmancy shiny new crossbow/bow/daggers!
My best skyrim build was and always will be Arne Lightbringer. The Nord vampire slayer. Absolutely love the dawnguard
I hope The vigilant of stendarr comes back as a faction in TES6....... I wanted to join them in skyrim but, well unlucky me
Love these videos and I absolutely love how often you guys are pushing content out!!!!!
i love the stories you tell i hope you make more but it would be a lot more interesting if you do a play through of what you are talking like letting a npc say it and we aren't just looking at pictures js
I really hope that another monster hunter guild makes it to TES 6 but with even more cool gadgets and weapons to use. This portion of skyrim was my absolute favorite.
Scott is so prolific w these great videos round of applause for Scott
I remember a play through I did once before dawnguard. A mad khajiit vampire. He had a hatred for vampires and would hunt them down. He never quite grasped he was one himself. But any he came across fell to his volley of spells. Spells that summoned and launched flaming wheels of goat cheese.
Yes he was a worshipper of sheggorath, the skooma cat. The madness came when moon sugar stopped working for him, and then skooma.
I would love one about the Vigilant of Stendar.
There's a mod I believe you join them after you start the dawnguard and you hear that the hall was destroyed
Harkon:
accept my gift and you will be given powers beyond mortality
Me in literally every game:
I just wanted fangs............
Ben Skyrim!!! You can’t forget those eyes tho !!
Wanna become a vampire and make babies?"
Dragonborn: "Sure, why not"
_And so does the cycle begin anew..._
Can they even make babies? Technically, they're dead.
I would do the same if I were in the Dragonborn’s place, Serana is just too irresistible
@@Aethuviel They can't. Vampire females in tes can't have children for the obvious reason.
Plot twist: Serana is actually the one running the show. She’s Harkkon and Valericas mother who got sealed away by her children.
Hmmmmmmn I wonder if I will ultimately be punished for my heracy against my kind since I normally creat an ancient vampire and enlist to hunt my kind down...and Isran never suspects that a night walker roams the halls of Fort Dawnguard....
Awesome video, love the Dawnguard!!! Cheers
I always do the Dawnguard dlc asap because I looooove my Serana! I usually have her as a follower during every playthrough ;)
eh, i'd rather the dragonborn side with the vampires. that would mean that we have another surviving main protagonist out there somewhere in future games.
@Split Haven yea but if you're immortal you basically have an eternity to wear her down. remember, a billion no's and a yes is still a yes.
@Split Haven lol yes I would be like ooohhh shoot vampire!! Kill it with fire!!
I'm doing a werewolf danwguard run through
This would be a very great story for Netflix Elder Scrolls if they actually do make it
Is there a dedicated video on my boi Nerevar? Something focused on him and maybe the First Council would be great! Dunmer are my faves :')
The Dawn Has Arrived
Hail Dawn-striders, hail Argent Awakening, hail Meridia, hail N'gborak!
Some think it is a bug or feature that occurred about the time Bethesda started forcing creation club updates. Seems to occur to people playing SE, I don't know about Oldrim.
@@OronoDiane I was talking about the base game, before bethesda removed those attacks altogether.

MORE BUILD/REMASTERED BUILD VIDEOS!!!!
I'm waiting for the remastered Toxicologist! Absolutely love the build
@@bigode9743 yes!!! That's my current build and I wasnt sure how I wanted to play it fully with factions. I went with a mod that adds poison destruction magic, light armour, sneak and 1 handed (mirakk sword) with those spiders as well but not really used much but a remastered version would make it so much better and use things I never thought of using
@@conjonsilver_ Fire! I'm currently playing this build too haha. I downloaded Throwable Weapons because I wanted to make an alchemist character that was able to lob bombs and potions, without the need for the spiders (they would come later ;)). What i wanted to do with this build was to create a character that inscreasingly studied nature's properties, to the point he/she started to dable in alteration to figure out what is it that nature and reality has to offer. For roleplay i downloaded Heljarcheen farm to have a place where i could learn a bit of alchemy on my own so that then i could go to the College to gain better insight on plants and such (there is a great overhaul to the college that adds all sorts of neat gardens, and relics that let you really feel like alchemy is appreciated over there). Now, i'm currently wondering the land in search of new wild life. Some day i might stumble onto Solstheim and start to research what is it that enables these spiders to harness the powers of the elements :). But factions are really tricky! I got stuck after the college because i didn't want a thief or anything. I really don't know how to press on hahaha. I guess we need wait for the Remastered Toxicologist, my friend

Jacopo Mazzo but he never tried to kill me, he just said I’m gonna have to cure myself.
Actually, the reason that Isran was fired from the Vigilants was because his methods were "too extreme".
@@jacopomazzo4949 It's pretty hilarious that the only reason you have to do Gunmar's and Sorine's favor quests (unless you have good persuasion skills) is because both of them know that Isran is such an asshole that they would only work with him under the most extenuating circumstances.
“So this alone is a big perk for those hungry to get there van hellsing on!”
Isran performs a bad ass battle speech.
And as the rule of two goes, eventually overthrowing your master and taking his throne. Choosing vampire in this game seriously is awesome.
@@msharmall7298 if you talk with Serana at one point instead of, "does it bother you that we're working against your father" you'll ask if she has a problem working with him, and she breaks down the rule of two. Since we we're in the halls of Volkihar when this happened it felt like Game of Thrones powergrab scheming.
@@gizmoduck4292 LOL I know right. It's that sort of thing that makes me want to choose Vokihar again even though I've never done a proper Dawnguard playthru. Gotta do Dawnguard this time though :/
@@msharmall7298 you could always rp the dawnguard's hellboy. Isran doesn't seem to have an objections to you being a werewolf
@@gizmoduck4292 Yeah, I thought that was weird. Hates vampires and such, but is totally okay with another murderous prince's spawn? Seems a little biased lol
Do videos on all the great houses of Morrowind please!
A band of outcast mercenaries turned vampire hunters have a more impressive fort than all the Jarls' homes combined (cept for windhelm) ... that's just sad.
Who else here has never been to the Vigilant base before it was burned?
Brb gotta go play dawnguard again.
u should add that Isron is something of a zealot, hes so committed to the destruction of vampires, that even those vampires that cause no harm to anyone fall under this edict. blinded by his hatred, he would destroy anyone even accused of being a vampire, not to mention refusing aid offered by vampires who only wish to live in peace. in his zeal, he misses the idea that...taking the strengths of ones enemy for ones own can make facing that enemy much easier
I think it’d be awesome if the dawngaurd become something like a guild with chapters throughout Tamriel may Todd Howard give us this gift in TES6
Wait... did they pick my recommendation?!?!? Yes!!!
I feel gameplay wise, dragonborn had more to offer but storywise I really liked all the effort behind dawnguard. Was just bummed the vampire faction was kinda...idk dry? (Pun intended) would have liked to see more impact, more personalities, more brutal vampire methods. Not, "hey....go fill up this cup homie"
